By Townhall. The Trump administration isn’t backing down from their war with House Democrats. We all saw this coming miles away. The Trump administration partially based on the fact that this was a crew that was going to fight for the forgotten American and they have. The House Democratic majority was elected in 2018 to fight the Trump agenda. There is no room for cooperation. There is no room for compromise. In other words, it’s what I love about our political system: conflict. Gridlock is a good thing. Division and partisanship is a good thing, and the more of it, the more honest we can be. Democrats and Republicans are different. We’re on separate wavelengths, especially when it comes to values. For example, I’m grateful my party doesn’t aggressively promote infanticide as we’ve seen over the past few months. Yet, that’s a separate issue.

Once again, the Trump administration told House Democrats to go pound sand over the latest subpoena concerning the president’s taxes. Democrats want six years worth of returns, including those related to the president’s businesses. Why? It’s part of their impeachment crusade. Treasury Dept. Refuses to Comply with Democrats’ Subpoenas for Trump Tax Returns, Court Fight Likely

By NBC News. The Treasury Department said Friday that it would not comply with congressional subpoenas to provide six years of President Donald Trump’s tax returns.

Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin sent a letter to House Ways and Means Committee Chairman Richard Neal, D-Mass, before the 5 p.m. ET deadline to hand over the documents. Mnuchin said that, on advice of the Justice Department, Treasury had determined that the committee’s request “lacks a legitimate legislative purpose,” and so the department is not “authorized to disclose the requested returns.”

“For the same reasons, we are unable to provide the requested information in response to the Committee’s subpoena,” Mnuchin said.

Neal responded Friday saying that the law provides “clear statutory authority” for him to request and received access to tax returns and return information.

“The law, by its terms, does not allow for discretion as to whether to comply with a request for tax returns and return information,” he wrote. “Given the Treasury Secretary’s failure to comply today, I am consulting with counsel on how best to enforce the subpoenas moving forward.” (Read more from “Treasury Dept. I Am the 1 Percent Used to Justify 100 Percent of Abortions

[T]here’s the horrific tragedy of rape, which the Left is relentlessly exploiting. Never mind they ignore it when Planned Parenthood fails to report the rape of underage victims. Those rape situations don’t bother them. No. Only when they realize how potent it is to use the 1% to justify 100% of abortions.

I am that 1 percent.

My biological mother was raped, yet she rejected the violence of abortion. I was adopted and loved instead. I’m not the “residue of the rapist”, as Senator Vivian Davis Figures described those like me who were conceived in rape. I’m a human being with equal worth to anyone planned. I couldn’t control the circumstances of my conception. Could you, senator?

As an adoptee who grew up wanted and loved in a multiracial family of 15 and as an adoptive father with four children, I’m here to say there’s another side of this painful issue. There are others like me who were conceived in the violence of rape, like my friend Rebecca Kiessling, an attorney and passionate defender of life. There’s the former Miss Pennsylvania, Valerie Gatto, Trayvon Clifton, Monica Kelsey, Jim Sable, Pam Stenzel, and many more whose stories offer a different perspective than mainstream media’s myopic pro-abortion view. There are women who became mothers from rape who courageously chose life, like Jennifer Christie, Liz Carl, and Rebekah Berg.

I mean, who really are the extremists here? Those who think that every human being has the right to life? Or people who celebrate the needless slaughter of 1 million innocent humans each year in America? People who boast about having their abortions like Gloria Steinem sporting an “I had an abortion” shirt? People like fake feminist Jill Filipovic who suggest severing part of a man’s penis every time he impregnates someone. People like Cecile Richards who compare protesting abortion to protesting a colonoscopy, because an unborn child is no different than feces? Ocasio-Cortez Completely MOCKS Christians in Rant

Socialist Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s (D-NY) made her disdain for conservative Christians clear this week with multiple attacks she made on social media about people of faith.

Ocasio-Cortez’s attacks were sparked by Alabama outlawing nearly all abortion in the state this week, which led to freshman congresswoman claiming without evidence that “US religious fundamentalists” are trying to “outlaw sex that falls outside their theology.”

“Abortion bans aren’t just about controlling women’s bodies. They’re about controlling women’s sexuality,” Ocasio-Cortez tweeted on Wednesday. “Owning women. From limiting birth control to banning comprehensive sex ed, US religious fundamentalists are working hard to outlaw sex that falls outside their theology.”

Ocasio-Cortez continued her attacks on Christianity on Thursday, mocking conservative Christians in a tweet in order to push her political agenda. . .

On Friday, Ocasio-Cortez attacked Republicans’ Christian beliefs, calling them “far-right” and “creepy.”

What Donald Trump Knows That Conservative Intellectuals Don’t

This week, I gave a talk at Stanford on the Judeo-Christian underpinnings of Western Culture. Though no students objected, two members of the university’s administration sent out a newsletter portraying me as an anti-Muslim bigot. They said it was “unacceptable” I should speak on such a topic during the celebration of Ramadan. They managed — as they surely intended — to stir up some trouble, though not enough to bring the event to a halt.

Shame on them. For college administrators to try to convince college students that it is “unacceptable” for them to hear ideas they might disagree with is simply wicked. In my response from the podium, I explained that there are only two systems of speech: free speech and speech that is controlled by the powerful. If speech is going to be silenced on the grounds that it is hateful, you have to ask the question: who decides? The answer is always the same: the powerful — the government, the administration, big business, the mob. And it is never very long before “hateful” speech turns into “speech people in power disagree with.” That is why, for speech to be free, it must be free for everyone, even those we dislike. . .

These are not honorable sallies in a war of ideas. These are acts of force meant to seize terrain.

This is what Donald Trump understands that too many conservative intellectuals miss. The belligerent and obstreperous Trump was called to the presidency by voters who know that, while the war of ideas can and should be waged politely by American friends, a war for terrain is a much uglier business.

Thus, also this week, the Trump Administration boldly refused to join the so-called Christchurch Call, a Global agreement by 18 nations to censor online speech. Also this week, the Trump Administration launched a website where you can file a complaint if you feel you’ve been censored on social media for your political opinions. Signs Point to Iran Behind Gulf Ship Attacks

Reuters reports that Iran is the likely culprit behind recent attacks on vessels belonging to Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.

According to the report:

“A confidential assessment issued this week by the Norwegian Shipowners’ Mutual War Risks Insurance Association (DNK) concluded that the attack was likely to have been carried out by a surface vessel operating close by that despatched underwater drones carrying 30-50 kg (65-110 lb) of high-grade explosives to detonate on impact.”

The U.S. has sent more military resources into the region to protect our interests and allies. Iran has repeatedly threatened to shut down the Strait of Hormuz, through which one-fifth of the world’s oil is transported. Insurer Says Iran’s Guards Likely to Have Organized Tanker Attacks

By Reuters. Iran’s elite Revolutionary Guards (IRGC) are “highly likely” to have facilitated attacks last Sunday on four tankers including two Saudi ships off Fujairah in the United Arab Emirates, according to a Norwegian insurers’ report seen by Reuters.

The UAE, Saudi Arabia and Norway are investigating the attacks, which also hit a UAE- and a Norwegian-flagged vessel. . .

The attacks took place against a backdrop of U.S.-Iranian tension following Washington’s decision this month to try to cut Tehran’s oil exports to zero and beef up its military presence in the Gulf in response to what it called Iranian threats. Doctors Perform Historic Surgery on Unborn Baby After Mother Chooses Life

Medical science continues to advance and things continue to get better for mothers and unborn children who face potentially devastating prenatal diagnoses.

Doctors in the United Kingdom performed the country’s first-ever “keyhole” surgery to repair the spine of an unborn child with spina bifida, the BBC reports.

Sherrie Sharp and her son Jaxson, who was diagnosed with the condition after a routine 20-week pregnancy checkup, had the surgery during the 27th week of pregnancy. The 29-year-old mother told the British media outlet that the diagnosis left her in shock, but the option of aborting her little boy was a “definite no.”

Spina bifida is a birth defect that affects the spine, the CDC explains. It can happen anywhere along the spine where the backbone protecting the spinal cord doesn’t form and close properly, which often leads to nerve damage.

Jaxson’s spine was not developing correctly because gaps left his spinal cord exposed to amniotic fluid, leading to concerns about paralysis.

In order to correct the problem, surgeons at King’s College Hospital in London sedated both mother and child, made three small incisions in Sherrie’s uterus, and then used a small camera and tools to put the exposed spinal cord in place and patch up the gaps in the baby’s backbone. The procedure took three hours.

This was the first time doctors in the United Kingdom have used the “keyhole” approach to prenatal spina bifida repairs. A previous procedure involved opening up the uterus.

Consultant neurosurgeon Bassel Zebian explained that, while the second-trimester procedure isn’t a cure for the defect, “improving the function of the lower limbs may be the difference between someone walking and someone not walking later in life.”

Jaxson arrived a few weeks early and spent some time in the NICU, but his mother says he’s doing well now.

“He’s got movements in his legs, we were told he’d have minimal movements if we didn’t have the surgery and he wouldn’t be able to move at all,” Sherrie told the BBC. “I’ve got high hopes for him, from day one he’s done things, he’s amazed us all.”

Trump Unveils Plan to Transform U.S. Immigration System – Here Are the Details

By Fox News. President Trump on Thursday unveiled a long-awaited immigration overhaul that would dramatically alter how the U.S. accepts people into the country, upending the system in order to favor admissions based on merit rather than family ties. . .

The proposal would judge immigrants with a points-based system that would favor high-skilled workers — accounting for age, English proficiency, education and whether the applicant has a well-paying job offer.

Currently, only about 12 percent of immigrants are admitted based on employment and skills, while 66 percent are admitted based on family connections inside the U.S. Administration officials estimate that those numbers would flip to 57 and 33 percent, respectively, under the Trump plan. . .

The average yearly wage of legal immigrants is approximately $43,000. Administration officials said Wednesday that immigrants admitted based on education and skills would have an average income of $126,000, and they would expect the average yearly wage of all immigrants to rise to roughly $96,000.

Trump Administration Introduces a New Legal Immigration System

By Townhall. Speaking from the Rose Garden Thursday afternoon President Trump introduced a new legal immigration system, in addition to a plan that bolsters border security.

“Our plan includes a sweeping modernization of our dysfunctional legal immigration process,” Trump said. “The system will finally be fair, transparent, and promote equality and opportunity for all.”

According to a briefing by senior White House officials prior to the speech, the goal of the new system is to treat border security scientifically, rather than as a political issue, in addition to implementing a merit based legal immigration system. Both will be done while maintaining a number of key principles, including protection of American wages, keeping the number of green cards issued per year at one million, attracting and maintaining the best, unifying immediate family, providing labor to critical industries and preserving humanitarian values.

The biggest changes come with a merit based legal immigration system, rather than U.S. citizenship through family ties. The merit based system uses points to assess citizenship eligibility by evaluating English proficiency, employment offers, pledges of investment or job creation and educational or vocational certifications.

Email: Comey Blamed Brennan for Promoting Debunked Dossier

By WND. Then-FBI Director James Comey indicated in a December 2016 email that then-CIA Director John Brennan insisted on including the debunked, anti-Trump dossier funded by the Hillary Clinton campaign in the Intelligence Community report concluding Russia interfered in the 2016 election. . .

This week, Attorney General William Barr appointed U.S. Attorney John Durham to investigate the origins of the charge of Trump campaign collusion with Russia. The claim led to a nearly two-year, $35 million special counsel probe that threatened the Trump presidency, damaged his administration and Republicans politically, and set back their agenda.

But Herridge said a former CIA official, speaking on background, blamed Comey for the inclusion of the dossier in the Intelligence Community Assessment.

“Former Director Brennan, along with (former Director of National Intelligence) James Clapper, are the ones who opposed James Comey’s recommendation that the Steele dossier be included in the intelligence report,” the source said. . .

On Wednesday, Judicial Watch released Justice Department emails showing former Associate Deputy Attorney General Bruce Ohr and State Department official Kathleen Kavalec used Steele dossier material to target Trump after he won the 2016 election. Dispute Erupts over Whether Brennan, Comey Pushed Steele Dossier, as DOJ Probe into Misconduct Begins

A high-level dispute over which senior government officials pushed the unverified Steele dossier amid efforts to surveil the Trump campaign has broken out into the open again, after it emerged that Attorney General William Barr appointed a U.S. attorney to examine the origins of the Russia investigation and determine if the FBI and DOJ’s actions were “lawful and appropriate.”

Sources familiar with the records told Fox News that a late-2016 email chain indicated then-FBI Director James Comey told bureau subordinates that then-CIA Director John Brennan insisted the dossier be included in the intelligence community assessment on Russian interference, known as the ICA.

Fox News was told that the email chain – not yet public — referred to the dossier as “crown material,” but it was not clear why this apparent code was used. On Tuesday night, former GOP Rep. Trey Gowdy said on Fox News’ “The Story with Martha MacCallum” that “Comey has a better argument than Brennan, based on what I’ve seen.”

A day earlier, Gowdy told Fox News, “Whoever is looking into this, tell them to look into emails” from December 2016 involving Brennan and Comey. Gowdy, who is now a Fox News contributor, said his assessment was based on sensitive Russia records he reviewed as then-chairman of the Republican-led House Oversight Committee. Feds: Deported Migrant Used Infant for Fake Family Claim at Border

A previously deported Honduran national attempted to illegally re-enter the United States by utilizing a six-month-old boy as a “fake” son to make a fraudulent family claim, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officials allege. ICE agents from Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) determined there was no familial relationship between the man and the little boy.

Rio Grande Valley Border Patrol agents apprehended the man after he waded across the Rio Grande with an infant child in his arms near Hidalgo, Texas, on May 7, according to ICE. Agents said the migrant claimed the boy as his own and presented what later turned out to be a fraudulent birth certificate. Agents at the McAllen Central Processing Station became suspicious of the parent-child relationship and turned them over to HSI.

During interviews with ICE, the man identified as Amilcar Guiza-Reyes, a 51-year-old from Honduras, reportedly admitted he obtained the fraudulent birth certificate to establish a father-son relationship. He further stated he intended to use the child to “further his unlawful entry into the U.S.,” ICE officials stated.

“Cases like this demonstrate the real danger that exists to children in this disturbing new trend,” HSI Acting Executive Associate Director Alysa Erichs said in a written statement. “And while we have seen egregious cases of smugglers renting and recycling children, this case involving a six-month-old infant is a new low – and an unprecedented level of child endangerment.”

“Frankly, it’s disgusting,” Acting ICE Director Matthey T. Albence said in a phone interview with Breitbart News. “But, it’s not something that we’re surprised about, unfortunately. We’ve been saying for several years that when we talk about the humanitarian crisis on the border, it’s not just the number of family units and unaccompanied children that are coming to the border illegally, it’s a fact that, based on the laws that Congress has failed to fix, they have created an industry the smuggling and rental of children.” (Read more from “Deported Migrant Used Infant for Fake Family Claim at Border” HERE)

Senate Approves Pro-Life Bill, Declares Itself ‘Sanctuary of Life’

The Missouri Senate passed legislation Thursday that contains some of the nation’s strongest safeguards for unborn babies and their mothers, including a ban on abortions from eight weeks of pregnancy and a declaration that Missouri is to be a “sanctuary of life.”

“In recognition that God is the author of life,” begins the Missouri Stands for the Unborn Act (HB 126) that state House Speaker Elijah Haahr (R) labeled the “strongest pro-life bill in the country.”

“[I]t is the intention of the general assembly of the state of Missouri” to “defend the right to life of all humans, born and unborn” and to “declare that the state and all of its political subdivisions are a ‘sanctuary of life’ that protects pregnant women and their unborn children,” the legislation states.

“This comprehensive, life-affirming legislation prohibits abortions once a heartbeat has been detected, prohibits abortions when a baby is capable of feeling pain, and would outlaw abortion in Missouri upon the reversal of Roe v. Wade,” summarized state Sens. Dave Schatz and Caleb Rowden in a joint statement.
