Get Wrecked: The Moment Where This Liberal Feminist Realized a Big Thesis in Her Book Was Wrong

We all make mistakes. Some are bigger than others. When that happens, you need to fix it and acknowledge it immediately. Yet, it gets to become rather embarrassing, disastrous actually, when you realize that virtually your entire body of work is wrong because you screw up the legal term. That’s what happened to Naomi Wolf’s latest book, “Outrages: Sex, Censorship and the Criminalization of Love.”

Wolf wrote that scores of executions were carried out in the 19th century for homosexual behavior. Ms. Wolf also didn’t know a key sodomy case in her book was actually in reference to child sex abuse. Oh, and “death recorded” also threw her off (via Daily Beast) [emphasis mine]:

During the interview with journalist Matthew Sweet, Wolf realized she’d made two huge errors in her book. The host pointed out two serious problems with her work. First, she assumed “sodomy” means homosexuality, but Sweet pointed out that, in one key case in her book, it was referring to child sex abuse. Second, she mistakenly believed the 19th-century legal term “death recorded” meant the convict was executed, but it actually meant a death sentence wasn’t carried out because the prisoner was pardoned and freed. So Wolf’s claim that there were “several dozen” executions for homosexuality appears to be based on a complete misunderstanding of old court records. “I don’t think any of the executions you’ve identified here actually happened,” said Sweet.

State Bans Disturbing Childlike Sex Dolls

By The Hill. Florida has banned childlike sex dolls that are “eerily similar to real human children.”

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) signed a bill on Thursday banning people in the state from owning the dolls. The measure had been unanimously approved by the Florida legislature.

The law “prohibits a person from knowingly having in his or her possession, custody, or control an obscene, childlike sex doll.”

Democratic state Sen. Lauren Book, who introduced the bill, and other supporters argue that owning the dolls encourages “child predators.”

“These are anatomically correct, lifelike silicone dolls that are eerily similar to real human children made for the sole purpose of sexual gratification,” she said in a statement. “Just as viewing child pornography lowers the inhibitions of child predators, so do these childlike sex dolls that have no place in the state of Florida.” (Read more from “State Bans Disturbing Childlike Sex Dolls” HERE)

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis Signs Bill Outlawing Child Sex Dolls

By Orlando Weekly. On Thursday Gov. Ron DeSantis signed into law legislation that bans the sale or possession of child-like sex dolls after it unanimously passed the Florida Legislature.

SB 160, sponsored by state Sen. Lauren Book, D-Plantation, “prohibits a person from knowingly having in his or her possession, custody, or control an obscene, child-like sex doll.” State Rep. Michael Gottlieb, D-Plantation, filed a companion measure in the Florida House. . .

New Study Reveals More Dramatic Effects Marijuana Use Causes on Brain

By Business Standard. New researches by Canadian neuroscientists have revealed that cannabis use affects the brain of adolescents and is linked to cognitive abnormalities, impairments in working memory, and inhibitory control.

The research was presented by neuroscientists Patricia Conrod, Steven Laviolette, Iris Balodis and Jibran Khokhar at the ’13th Annual Canadian Neuroscience Meeting’.

Dr Patricia Conrod, Universite de Montreal, studied the year-to-year changes in alcohol and cannabis use and cognitive function in a sample of adolescents consisting of five per cent of all students entering high school in 2012 and 2013.

The students were assessed annually for four years on alcohol and cannabis use, and their cognitive function was evaluated using computerised cognitive tests.

According to the study, cannabis use was linked to impairments in working memory and inhibitory control, which is required for self-control. Teenage Cannabis Use Linked to Memory Problems

By Newsweek. Teenagers who use cannabis could be at risk of developing problems with memory, scientists believe.

Researchers looked at 3,826 students attending schools in the Greater Montreal area of Canada. Every year from grade seven to grade 11, the team asked the participants whether they used drugs including cannabis and alcohol. They also tested their memory, visual reasoning skills and inhibition levels. On a 6-point scale marked from ranging from “never” to “every day,” participants answered how often they used a particular substance, and answered how many alcoholic drinks they’d have in one session.

Students who took part were reassured their answers would be anonymized, so they weren’t put off from answering honestly. Information like the participants’ socioeconomic status and sex was also collected.

Using cannabis was linked to issues with memory, inhibition control and reasoning. The same was not observed in those who used alcohol. The more often the students used drugs including cannabis, the lower their scores on the memory tests, reasoning and inhibition were, the authors found.

Past studies have linked alcohol and cannabis to issues with learning, decision making and thinking, and lower grades in adolescents and adults, the authors said. (Read more from “Teenage Cannabis Use Linked to Memory Problems” HERE)

Pro-Life Dem: More African-American Babies ‘Die at the Hands of Abortionists’ Than Any Other Cause

State Rep. Katrina Jackson (D-La.) laid out a strategy to convince her fellow Democrats to support life, in particular, pro-life crisis pregnancy centers, which Planned Parenthood slams as “fake clinics.” She said she came up with the cause at a conference Wednesday with the National Institute of Family and Life Advocates (NIFLA). She suggested that turning abortion into a social justice issue should move Democrats toward supporting life, and she condemned the abortion of black babies as a “modern-day genocide,” rooted in historic racism and eugenics.”

“It’s time for us to change the conversation and start addressing issues besides abortion,” Jackson told PJ Media in an interview. “How my advocacy and that of others includes post-birth resources for the mother and her child, for indigent families — that truly is what resonates with Democrats throughout our nation.”

Democrats should be moved by “what NIFLA does outside of choosing life, how they work with the mother and the family after she chooses life,” the pro-life Democrat argued. NIFLA provides legal resources for pro-life pregnancy centers. These centers provide over $100 million in free or low-cost services to mothers and babies, including: pregnancy testing; medical services (ultrasounds, medical exams, prenatal care, STD testing and treatment, etc.); prenatal development and parenting education; material assistance; after abortion recovery support; referrals for medical care; and links to community and public health resources, among other things.

Yet one of the largest obstacles to Democrats seeing these pregnancy centers for what they are is — Planned Parenthood itself. The abortion lobbying industry has branded pregnancy centers “fake clinics” because they do not provide or refer women for abortions. In fact, California passed a law turning these pro-life clinics into “abortion referral agencies,” based on the claim that they are “fake clinics.” The Supreme Court struck down the California law because it violated the centers’ free speech, but Connecticut is considering a similar law now. Judge Blocks ‘Heartbeat’ Abortion Law

A federal judge has temporarily blocked a Mississippi law that bans abortions once a fetal heartbeat can be detected, usually at the sixth or seventh week of pregnancy.

The law was scheduled to go into effect July 1.

“Here we go again,” wrote U.S. District Judge Carlton W. Reeves, an Obama-era appointee, in his opinion. “Mississippi has passed another law banning abortions prior to viability.” . . .

Reeves continued:

This Court previously found the 15-week ban to be an unconstitutional violation of substantive due process because the Supreme Court has repeatedly held that women have the right to choose an abortion prior to viability, and a fetus is not viable at 15 weeks lmp. If a fetus is not viable at 15 weeks lmp, it is not viable at 6 weeks lmp.

Illegal Alien Accused of Stabbing Beloved Grandmother to Death

An illegal alien from Mexico has been arrested and charged with murdering a beloved 75-year-old grandmother in Houston, Texas.

Marco Cobos, 19-years-old, is an illegal alien from Mexico, a law enforcement official confirmed to Breitbart News. On May 19, Cobos allegedly stabbed 75-year-old Etta Nugent 13 times in her home for 40 minutes to an hour as she begged for her life, according to prosecutors.

Nugent was a beloved mother of three children and grandmother of six who had retired as a parish secretary at Holy Ghost Catholic Church. Nugent was a parishioner at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church.

The alleged murder occurred while the illegal alien had been living in a stolen truck on Nugent’s tree-lined street in Houston near the St. Francis de Sales church. Cobos, according to prosecutors, approached Nugent about her helping him fix the broken down truck.

When the elderly woman was unable to help, prosecutors say the illegal alien forced his way into her home as Nugent tried to speak through a crack in the door. Cobos, according to prosecutors, grabbed a knife and stabbed the elderly woman in the chest then ran back to the kitchen to grab more knives to stab her. Abortion Activist Likens Laws Restricting Procedure to ‘Forced Breeding of Enslaved Black Women’

By Breitbart. The vice president of government affairs for Our Own Voice, National Black Women’s Reproductive Justice, said at a protest on Tuesday at the U.S. Supreme Court that banning or restricting abortion is a throwback to “breeding” black slaves.

“Black women coined the term reproductive justice 25 years ago,” Jessica Pickney said, adding that the goal of getting that justice was to “dismantle reproductive oppression.”

“Reproduction oppression looks like forced breeding of enslaved black women,” Pickney said.

The protest, organized by pro-abortion and left-wing organizations like Planned Parenthood, NARAL, the Women’s March, and MoveOn.org was in response to several states recently crafting and passing legislation to protect the unborn and, eventually, sending a court battle over abortion back to the high court where the 1973 Roe v. Wade made abortion on demand the law of the land. . .

“It is no coincidence that the parts of this country with the worst maternal maternity rates, the highest incidence of voter suppression and overall troublesome health outcomes for black women are the same states that wish to eliminate our access to abortion care,” Pickney said. Democrats Cancel Fundraiser for Their Own Congressman Because of His Anti-Abortion Views

By Washington Examiner. The head of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee canceled a fundraiser for a anti-abortion-rights Democrat who has served in Congress for more than a decade after progressive complaints.

Rep. Sheri Bustos, chairwoman of the DCCC, canceled a $1,000-per-person fundraiser for fellow Illinois Rep. Daniel Lipinski. Lipinski, who opposes abortion, is facing a primary challenge from a progressive pro-abortion Democrat.

Although she didn’t directly say why she is backing out of the event, Bustos released a statement that tied the decision to the controversy surrounding the strict abortion laws being enacted in Republican-led states.

“I’m proud to have a 100 percent pro-choice voting record and I’m deeply alarmed by the rapidly escalating attacks on women’s access to reproductive care in several states,” Bustos said. Retired Pastor Banned from Hosting Bible Study at Apartment Complex

An elderly Virginia couple has sued the owners of a senior living apartment complex, claiming they were kicked out for hosting weekly Bible study classes.

The federal lawsuit, filed in Richmond, Va., alleges housing discrimination against Community Realty, which manages the Evergreens at Smith Run complex in Fredericksburg. . .

“The management company’s hostility to religious residents violates federal law and taints Virginia’s long history of religious freedom,” said Lea Patterson, associate counsel for First Liberty Institute, which filed the lawsuit. “We’re asking the court to hold the management company accountable for violating the Hauges’ right to exercise their faith in their home and to ensure no other residents have to suffer through what the Hauges have endured.”

The couple, who had lived at the facility since 2017, claims management discriminated against them by first banning everyone from saying grace before their meal and then barring them from hosting the Bible study.

Community Realty cited complaints from other residents who alleged the couple, both in their 80s, had been harassing people and pressuring them to join the Bible study. Barack Obama, Envious of Michelle’s Memoir Success, Throws Her Under the Bus

The success of Michelle Obama’s memoir Becoming apparently has Barack Obama feeling a lot of pressure for his own forthcoming memoir. Of course, his memoir has yet to be finished, and its release has been pushed back to 2020 or even 2021. “The writing has been going more slowly than he’d expected,” reports The Atlantic. “And according to several people who have spoken with him, the 44th president is feeling competitive with his wife, whose own book, Becoming, was the biggest release of 2018 and is on track to be the best-selling memoir in history.” . . .

His unfinished and yet-to-be-titled book will be his third memoir and will cover his political career from his 2004 Democratic National Convention speech through his presidency. The former first couple received a combined $65 million for their post-White House memoirs. His insecurity and competitiveness, while laughable, isn’t even the best part of the report:

Speaking on the condition of anonymity, like others in this story, these sources note he’ll occasionally point out in conversation that he’s writing this book himself , while Michelle used a ghostwriter.

It’s really sad that Barack Obama feels so insecure and competitive about his forthcoming book that he feels the need to point out that Michelle didn’t actually write her bestselling memoir. Did anyone really think she wrote it herself anyway? Why would Barack feel the need to throw her under the bus like that? Here’s How Chick-Fil-A Employees Aided a Man Whose Car Broke down in the Drive-Thru

Chick-fil-A, which is a perpetual target of the Left because of the religious views of its ownership, proved once again the kind of working environment it promotes when employees at an East Ridge, Tennessee, restaurant helped a customer change a flat tire on his truck after it broke down in the drive-thru lane.

As reported by The Blaze, the employees not only helped the man change out his tire, as opposed to just pushing it out of the way and waiting for AAA to come finish the job, but also replaced his cold food with some fresh, hot food, along with two free cookies.

In a Facebook post, the man, a worship leader named Brian Hall, referred to the employees as “saints” as he described his encounter. “Bunch of saints over at the chickfila in east ridge! My tire somehow went flat in the drive through so they rushed out to replace it for me with their hydraulic Jack,” he said. “They brought my food out to me then after it was done replaced my food with new fresh food so it wouldn’t be cold and put two cookies in there for free! Those people are truly doing the Lord’s work over there!”

Speaking with Fox News, Hall said that the employees took customer service to a whole other level by not only helping him change out his tire but not letting him participate.

“They rushed out when they saw what happened and wouldn’t let me do a thing,” he said. “I am a carpenter and work with my hands a lot, so it was a little funny letting other people do that for me, but they insisted.
