Rob Lowe Gets It: Explains the Appeal of ‘Roseanne’ in One Tweet

Actor Rob Lowe — one of the only free-thinking individuals left in Hollywood — perfectly summed up the appeal of the hit show “Roseanne” in one concise tweet: It’s not that the show is pro-Trump, but that it showcases actual tolerance for differing political ideologies; something we don’t see a lot of in today’s political climate.

“The secret to [Roseanne] massive ratings is that it celebrates people with huge political differences who are able to laugh and love together as they passionately disagree,” wrote the actor.

The reboot captured over 18 million viewers on its debut night; hitting a grand total of 21.9 million when next-day DVR and video-on-demand viewers were counted, according to CNN Money.

Mark Hemingway of The Weekly Standard agreed with the rational take, adding that conservatives just want to be represented accurately, and not as unlovable backward hicks. “Exactly,” he wrote. “The issue isn’t that the show caters to conservatives. It just gives them a seat at the table rather than pretending half of America is backwards or doesn’t exist.”

Meet the OTHER David Hogg; He’s 16, Already in College and Has a Message for the Anti-Gun Club

As Parkland student activist David Hogg runs laps with his media appearances touting gun control and attacking the Second Amendment, it seems his fame has had a direct effect on another student.

The mass shooting at his Florida high school in February catapulted Hogg to his new-found fame and increasing Twitter followers – now at over 720K – but also affected another David Hogg who decided to leave Twitter for a time . . .

But the social media attention on the Parkland Hogg became too much for the [conservative, pro-gun] 16-year-old who suspended his Twitter account after things got too overwhelming for him and his family. He announced his return last week, clarifying that he was not to be confused with the other Hogg.

Hogg’s mother echoed her son’s statement in a tweet of her own, calling out the irony of the Parkland student decrying bullying while engaging in the very act himself. Hogg launched a boycott against Fox News host Laura Ingraham after she tweeted that he “whined” about not getting accepted into some colleges . . .

“I do not think we should ban law-abiding citizens from buying guns because that will increase problems,” he said in the video, also calling for a “more regulated background check” and a national policy on gun ownership instead of state-by-state laws. Washington Makes It Illegal for Therapists to Help Kids With Unwanted Gay Attractions

. . .Democratic Gov. Jay Inslee signed SB 5722 into law Wednesday, the Spokesman-Review reports. It declares the state has a “compelling interest” in “protecting” the physical and mental health of anyone under 18 from the “serious harms caused by conversion therapy.”

Under the law, “conversion therapy” is defined as any counseling or treatment by a licensed medical professional intended to “change an individual’s sexual orientation or gender identity,” or “eliminate or reduce sexual or romantic attractions or feelings toward individuals of the same sex.”

Conversion therapy, also known as reparative therapy, is controversial in large part because it challenges the notion that sexual attraction is biologically rooted and unchangeable. Prominent medical organizations such as the World Psychiatric Association have condemned the practice, but many former homosexuals attest to the treatment’s effectiveness.

Supporters of therapists helping people overcome unwanted attractions point out that therapy is about helping clients achieve their goals – and some seeking therapy want to cease or not act on same-sex attractions.

Now classified as “unprofessional conduct” in Washington, conversion therapy is grounds for suspending or revoking a medical license regardless of whether a minor seeks it out, and the law contains no exception for parental request or approval of the treatment. Move Over Tide Pods, Teens Discover Viral ‘Challenge’ That’s Even More Disturbing

By The Daily Caller. Teenagers have moved on to snorting condoms rather than eating tide pods, according to a Fox News Monday report.

Just when you thought it could not get worse, teenagers decided to amp up the “Tide Pod Challenge” by trying out the “Condom Challenge:” sticking a condom up their nostrils, inhaling it then pulling it out from their throats, Fox News reported. This bizarre challenge is nothing new; the earliest recording of a person snorting a condom was back in 2007. However, the challenge went viral on social media in 2018.

This fad might be taking off on social media, however, it also reaps many health risks. A condom, comprised of latex, rubber and covered in spermicide, can damage the inner lining of the nose. Condom snorting can also block your breathing and cause you to choke, especially since the prophylactic is much larger than a nostril, according to Bruce Y. Lee, an associate professor of international health at Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, in a Forbes column. Teens Snort Condoms Then Pull Them Through Mouths in Disturbing New Trend

By Fox News. Now teens are taking on an even grosser challenge in pursuit of Internet fame — and this one is making stomachs turn, as it is as disgusting as it is dangerous.

The latest challenge involves snorting a condom up one nostril, inhaling, and finally pulling it from the throat out the mouth.

Like other viral fads, this one has been around for years but is just now catching fire on social media, mostly via YouTube . . .

Forbes cites two cases reviewed in medical journals in which women accidentally swallowed condoms, developing ailments ranging from pneumonia to appendicitis.

The condom snorting fad follows a recent trend of people eating Tide Pods and encouraging or daring others to do the same. That stunt, dubbed “The Tide Pod Challenge,” resulted in poison centers reporting 142 incidents just in January, according to the American Association of Poison Control Centers (AAPCC). So How Did Stormy Daniels Impact Opinion of Trump? Not How CNN Hoped.

So has the “Porn Star and the President” media blitz produced the result CNN hoped it would? Depends on if you’re a male or a female, but overall, no, not really.

According to a new Harvard CAP/Harris Poll highlighted by The Hill, the Stormy Daniels affair mania’s impact on Trump’s poll numbers has been a measly 1 point from last month, his overall approval down from 45% to 44%. But even that slight dip is a little misleading; the study found Trump’s numbers up 3 points since December.

When the pollsters dug a little deeper, they found that while the “Stormy Effect” appears to have hurt Trump among women, it actually helped him among men. Trump’s support among women over the last month dropped 6 points from 41% to 35%; during the same time, however, support among men rose 3 points from 50% to 53%.

Mark Penn, co-director of the poll, is certain that this “gender polarization” has a lot do with Trump’s alleged affair with Stormy. “This poll was taken right after the Stormy Daniels interview and so I think this increased gender polarization is the ‘Stormy Effect,'” he said.

While Penn and his polling group saw a subtle decline in overall support for Trump, Rasmussen’s daily presidential tracking poll Monday had nothing but good news for the president, suggesting that, if anything, the media pornstorm might’ve given Trump a boost. The Personal Data Google Has on You Is Shocking and Dwarfs That of Facebook, Here’s How to Stop It

As TFTP reported last week, it was revealed that both the Obama campaign and the Trump campaign used third-party integrations to collect private information on millions of unsuspecting Facebook users. The resultant scandal has sent Facebook’s stock tumbling as well as created a firestorm for Mark Zuckerberg and his fellow data miners. Remaining conveniently out of the scrutiny, however, is Google, whose data mining of private information, according to a recent report, dwarfs that of Facebook.

Web developer Dylan Curran, based in Waterford, Ireland, is making headlines this week after he recently downloaded both his Facebook data file and his Google data file.

As TFTP has reported, the information Facebook keeps on its users is utterly mind-blowing, consisting of everything from text messages to liked posts, the social media giant is building profiles on billions. However, according to Curran, this is nothing compared to what Google has.

“Want to freak yourself out? I’m gonna show just how much of your information the likes of Facebook and Google store about you without you even realising it,” Curran wrote before giving a breakdown of all the information insidiously gleaned by these information giants.

Google knows where you’ve been

Google stores your location (if you have location tracking turned on) every time you turn on your phone. You can see a timeline of where you’ve been from the very first day you started using Google on your phone.

Click on this link to see your own data: google.com/maps/timeline?

Here is every place I have been in the last 12 months in Ireland. You can see the time of day that I was in the location and how long it took me to get to that location from my previous one.

Google knows everything you’ve ever searched – and deleted

Google stores search history across all your devices. That can mean that, even if you delete your search history and phone history on one device, it may still have data saved from other devices.

Google has an advertisement profile of you

Google creates an advertisement profile based on your information, including your location, gender, age, hobbies, career, interests, relationship status, possible weight (need to lose 10lb in one day?) and income.

Click on this link to see your own data: google.com/settings/ads/

Google knows all the apps you use
Google stores information on every app and extension you use. They know how often you use them, where you use them, and who you use them to interact with. That means they know who you talk to on Facebook, what countries are you speaking with, what time you go to sleep.

Click on this link to see your own data: security.google.com/settings/secur…

Google has all of your YouTube history

Google stores all of your YouTube history, so they probably know whether you’re going to be a parent soon, if you’re a conservative, if you’re a progressive, if you’re Jewish, Christian, or Muslim, if you’re feeling depressed or suicidal, if you’re anorexic …

Click on this link to see your own data: youtube.com/feed/history/s…

The data Google has on you can fill millions of Word documents

Google offers an option to download all of the data it stores about you. I’ve requested to download it and the file is 5.5GB big, which is roughly 3m Word documents.

This link includes your bookmarks, emails, contacts, your Google Drive files, all of the above information, your YouTube videos, the photos you’ve taken on your phone, the businesses you’ve bought from, the products you’ve bought through Google …

They also have data from your calendar, your Google hangout sessions, your location history, the music you listen to, the Google books you’ve purchased, the Google groups you’re in, the websites you’ve created, the phones you’ve owned, the pages you’ve shared, how many steps you walk in a day …

Click on this link to see your own data: google.com/takeout

Curran then goes on to list all the Facebook data before focusing back in on Google.

Here are some of the different ways Google gets your data

I got the Google Takeout document with all my information, and this is a breakdown of all the different ways they get your information.

According to the file, Google knows every image you’ve ever downloaded and where you accessed them. They also know what events you’ve attended and when—even when you don’t enter them in your own calendar.

What’s more, even if you’ve deleted all this information, Google still has it! “This is my Google Drive, which includes files I explicitly deleted including my résumé, my monthly budget, and all the code, files and websites I’ve ever made, and even my PGP private key, which I deleted, that I use to encrypt emails,” explains Curran.

Google even knows your workout routine as the fit app maintains records of all of it. They also maintain all of your photos, even deleted ones.

“This is all the photos ever taken with my phone, broken down by year, and includes metadata of when and where I took the photos,” said Curran.

But that’s not all. They also have every email you’ve ever sent and received, including deleted ones and spam. They have a record of every single website you’ve ever visited, every search you’ve ever done, every app you’ve ever used, and every news article you’ve ever read.

As Curran notes:

This information has millions of nefarious uses. You say you’re not a terrorist. Then how come you were googling Isis? Work at Google and you’re suspicious of your wife? Perfect, just look up her location and search history for the last 10 years. Manage to gain access to someone’s Google account? Perfect, you have a chronological diary of everything that person has done for the last 10 years.

This is one of the craziest things about the modern age. We would never let the government or a corporation put cameras/microphones in our homes or location trackers on us. But we just went ahead and did it ourselves because – to hell with it! – I want to watch cute dog videos.

If we continue to be okay with unknown corporate entities watching our every move, collecting every bit of our personal information, and using all of it against us, the words “freedom” and “privacy” will become but a fleeting memory. While you may think you have nothing to hide if you’ve done nothing wrong, it’s only a matter of time before someone deems your completely legal behavior a threat—and uses this massive spy tool to stop that threat.

Now for the solution. Stop giving Google all these permissions, go through your device’s permissions and disable everything that may let Google collect your information. Stop using letting Google record you by disabling the voice recognition. Use browsers like Firefox or TOR that don’t spy on you. Use search engines like DuckDuckgo.com. Use VPNs and quit paying for internet services that allow third-parties to collect your information.

Unless we reclaim our privacy now, we will be responsible for the insane information dystopia that we create. (For more from the author of “The Personal Data Google Has on You Is Shocking and Dwarfs That of Facebook, Here’s How to Stop It” please click HERE)

Veteran Who Lost a Leg in Combat Gives Most Incredibly Profound, Life-Changing Lesson to David Hogg

Parkland student activist David Hogg got a life lesson from an Army veteran in a “rant” on Facebook advising the high schooler to “watch what you say.”

Derek Weida, a veteran of the 82nd Airborne, addressed Hogg in an epic Facebook post, setting the record straight for the Florida high school senior who has become the face of the anti-gun student movement following the mass shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in February.

“I empathize with you and your peers because whereas I signed up to be shot at, none of you did,” Weida, who lost his leg when he was shot in 2007 during a mission in Iraq, wrote, explaining how one does not become an expert in something just by having experienced it.

“Now… Guns. Here’s my two cents: It’s not a gun problem, not a people problem, it’s a culture thing. Thing… Not problem. America loves guns. Accept that just like I had to accept that America loves God. Don’t ever be so quick to tell a whoooole lot of people how to live,” the 29-year-old veteran wrote.

He agreed that “NOBODY” wants school shootings to occur and even admitted he’s “actually kinda with the anti-gun folk,” but quickly explained that he has learned it is best not to lecture others on how to live their lives. Disgusting: Facebook Rejects Ad Depicting Jesus for Being ‘Shocking, Sensational, and Excessively Violent’

The Prince of Peace is officially too violent for Facebook. According to the Franciscan University of Steubenville, the tech giant rejected an advertisement for its online degree program in theology, catechetics, and evangelization. The campaign included an image of the San Damiano Cross, a twelfth century rood cross before which St. Francis of Assisi prayed when he had a mystical vision in which the Icon of Christ Crucified instructed him, “Francis, Francis, go and repair My house which, as you can see, is falling into ruins.” The university’s social media administrator received a rejection notice explaining that the image contained “shocking, sensational, or excessively violent content.” Perhaps Christians should count their blessings that Facebook is not yet flagging depictions of Christ reigning from his cruciform throne as “fake news.”

In Facebook’s defense, the Crucifixion was indeed shocking, sensational, and excessively violent: He was arrested, flogged, condemned, made to carry his own cross, brought to the “Place of the Skull,” nailed, raised, fed gall, and pierced through the side with a sword. In the university’s defense, our civilization once considered the Crucifixion and Resurrection to be the most important event in the history of the world. Now one of the most successful enterprises in the history of that civilization deems it too sensational for public consumption.

The stand-up comedian-turned-pop philosopher George Carlin observed in 2005, “When fascism comes to America, it will not be in brown and black shirts. It will not be with jack-boots. It will be Nike sneakers and Smiley shirts. Smiley-smiley.” Jonah Goldberg returned to this theme on the cover of his 2008 bestseller Liberal Fascism, which depicts a Smiley face sporting a Hitler mustache. Fox News Releases Statement About Laura Ingraham’s Future at Network

On Monday, Fox News released a statement on the future of Laura Ingraham after she faced an intense boycott push from far-left activists and Media Matters. The network announced that they are sticking by Ingraham and will not back down to leftist intimidation efforts designed to silence free speech.

In a statement, Fox News co-president Jack Abernethy wrote:

We cannot and will not allow voices to be censored by agenda-driven intimidation efforts. We look forward to having Laura Ingraham back hosting her program next Monday when she returns from spring vacation with her children.

Ingraham, the host of “The Ingraham Angle,” announced on Friday that she was going to be taking the week off to celebrate Easter with her three adopted children as she faced an intense boycott campaign originating from student gun control activist David Hogg after she tweeted a mild criticism of him last week.

People’s Eyes Are Bleeding After They Take Synthetic ‘Weed’

By Miami Herald. There’s a fake form of marijuana going around Illinois — and it’s making people bleed from their eyes and ears.

The Illinois Department of Public Health issued a warning about synthetic “weed” known as “spice,” “K2” or “Mind Trip” on March 27. At that time, there were six people who reported “severe bleeding” after taking the fake pot since March 7, according to the state department.

That number grew to 22 people in Illinois by March 29, according to The Chicago Tribune. Dr. Melissa Millewich, an emergency room physician at an Illinois hospital, said it’s a new symptom for the drug, which some erroneously view as a safe alternative to pot.

“This bleeding is not expected,” she told the newspaper, “at least in such a significant population so quickly.”

In July, over 100 people overdosed on so-called synthetic pot in a Pennsylvania county over the span of just three days, CNN reported, but no one died. And in 2015, around 700 people in Mississippi reported overdosing after taking the fake marijuana. At least eleven people died in that case. Synthetic Pot May Be Causing Severe Bleeding, Health Officials Say

By BND. State health officials are warning that some people using synthetic cannabis may end up hemorrhaging and should seek medical assistance.

Four people have been hospitalized in the past two weeks with severe bleeding caused by a vitamin K-dependent lack of coagulation, which reduces blood’s ability to clot. The condition is treatable if caught early, according to officials from the Illinois Department of Public Health, which sent out a warning Friday afternoon.
