Cafe Chain Staffed by Workers With Down Syndrome

It is a hip-looking cafe like any other in central Paris, thronged with lunchtime diners. Except that Joyeux has a little something extra – many of its cooks and waiters have one more chromosome.

The coffee shop is the latest in a chain of lunch joints springing up across France staffed by people with Down syndrome, autism and other cognitive disabilities.

“Joyeux” means joyous and owner Yann Bucaille Lanzerac said he plans to spread the joy to at least four more outlets across France giving disabled people the chance to show what they can do and earn a living.

Foodie and commis chef Charles has been dreaming for years about cooking in a real restaurant. . .

Waitress Mathilde, 20, who has Down syndrome, said the cafe has already helped her expand her skills as she helped with last-minute preparations for its grand opening on Wednesday, when French first lady Brigitte Macron dropped in for a quick bite. SHAMEFUL: Dad Sues Boy Scouts After Son With Down Syndrome Is Rejected, Stripped of Badges

Logan Blythe, a 15-year-old boy with Down syndrome, has wanted to become an Eagle Scout for years. He’s been working hard to earn the required merit badges and was planning his final project, when his family received an email from the Boy Scout district advancement committee saying that Logan had not followed the exact requirements to earn his badges.

Leaders of the local Boy Scout chapter had made special accommodations for Logan’s disability so that he could earn his badges at the best of his ability. He was only one step away from achieving his goal and becoming an Eagle Scout when officials with the National Boy Scout Organization contacted the Blythe family to say that Logan’s Eagle project had been suspended and his badges voided.

“Logan’s project was suspended and every badge that he had earned since graduating from the Cub Scouts to the Boy Scouts was voided,” Chad Blythe, Logan’s father told The Salt Lake Tribune. Chad filed a suit against the Boy Scouts of America and the Utah National Parks Council on March 13 asking for $1 and for his son to be reinstated in the Boy Scouts. Hungry Teen Goes to Kroger to Ask Strangers for Food, Has No Idea That Move Will Change His Life

. . .Chauncy Jones was hungry. The 16-year-old straight-A student lived with his mother. He was trying to get a job to help her make rent, pay bills and buy food. He encountered Matt White, a man from Memphis who was shopping at Kroger.

He was at the “rich peoples store” in the hopes he’d get something to eat. The young man approached Matt and asked if he could carry his bags to his car. In return, he asked for a pack of glazed donuts.

Shocked and heartbroken, Matt decided to give Chauncy more than just a small breakfast. He bought toiletry items and cereal and other staples for Chauncy and his mother, Barbara. Matt even delivered the groceries. He wrote about this experience on Facebook . . .

“This kid looked like he had been turned down 100 times. He looked ashamed, hungry and broken. In my heart, I screamed a loud “yes!”, But to him, I just chuckled and said, “yeah dude, we’ll get you some donuts.” I asked him if he was by himself and he said that he had come all the way out here with the hopes of someone buying him something to eat because he and his mother had nothing at home. He had no phone, a bus pass, and he was depending on the graces of a stranger to feed him within the hour before the bus left.”

“So, needless to say, he and I went on a shopping spree. We had so much fun! We got cereal and chips and frozen veggies, pizzas, Cheetos, melons and pasta, peanut butter, milk, soap, toothbrushes, just a little bit of everything. All the while we talked and he told me how he makes straight A’s in school and is trying to get a job to help his mom pay rent. This kid was amazing. CDC: Youth Suicide Skyrockets 70% Over Last Decade. Here’s Why.

According to the Centers for Disease Control, youth suicide is in the midst of a precipitous and frightening rise. Between 2006 and 2016, suicides by white children between ages 10 and 17 skyrocketed 70%; while black children are less likely than white children to kill themselves, their suicide rate also jumped 77%. And as The Blaze points out, CNN reported last year that “the suicide rate among girls between the ages of 15 and 19 rose to a 40-year high in 2015.”

It’s not just young people. According to Tom Simon, a CDC report author, “We know that overall in the US, we’re seeing increases in suicide rates across all age groups.” As of 2016, suicide levels were at 30-year highs. . .

There seems to be a crisis of meaning taking place in America. And that crisis of meaning is heavily linked to a decline in religious observance. As The Atlantic observed in 2014, citing a study in Psychological Science:

The researchers found that this factor of religiosity mediated the relationship between a country’s wealth and the perceived meaning in its citizen’s lives, meaning that it was the presence of religion that largely accounted for the gap between money and meaning. They analyzed other factors—education, fertility rates, individualism, and social support (having relatives and friends to count on in troubled times)—to see if they could explain the findings, but in the end it came down to religion.

In other words, people need meaning and purpose in life. Our focus on materialism from both the political right and left — on income inequality and intersectional victimhood from the left, and on tribal affinity and economic deregulation from the right — ignores the key problem: Americans, particularly young Americans, increasingly don’t feel that their lives have purpose. Students Organize Walkouts to Protest Abortion

The Daily Wire. This week, students at a California high school launched a campaign to start a pro-life walkout using the hashtag #life on social media to organize.

The movement to protest abortions was started at Rocklin High School by Brandon Gillespie, who says he was inspired by his history teacher, CBS Sacramento reported.

Gillespie said the event is intended “To honor all the lives of aborted babies pretty much. All the millions of aborted babies every year.”

Naeirika Neev, a left-wing activist who runs the school newspaper and supported the anti-gun march, responded with a hypocritical and nasty message, saying, “They have their First Amendment, they can go protest about that anytime anywhere.” (Read more from “Students Organize Walkouts to Protest Abortion” HERE)

Student Planning Abortion Protest After School Shooting Walkout

As thousands of students across the country walked out of class demanding strict gun laws, in honor of the Parkland shooting victims, Benzel was placed on paid administrative leave when she asked students to consider whether there’s a double standard in the national school walkout.

“I would like a conversation about when is too much? And are we going allow this on the other side?” said Julianne Benzel

The principal at Rocklin High declined to meet with us for an on-camera interview, but a district spokeswoman tells us, he does plan to sit down with the student about the possible abortion walkout, and that’s not going over well with some of his peers. Actress Running for Governor Slammed as ‘Unqualified Lesbian’

By NY Post. Former City Council Speaker Christine Quinn, an openly gay supporter of Gov. Andrew Cuomo, called Cynthia Nixon an “unqualified lesbian” a day after the actress announced she’s going to challenge the governor in a primary.

In an interview with The Post, Quinn also denounced Nixon for endorsing Bill de Blasio over her in the 2013 Democratic primary for mayor.

“I’m surprised by this race. It’s a flight of fancy on her part,” Quinn said of Nixon’s announcement Monday that she would take on Cuomo in September’s Democratic primary.

“Cynthia Nixon was opposed to having a qualified lesbian become mayor of New York City. Now she wants an unqualified lesbian to be the governor of New York. ‘Sex and the City’ Star Cynthia Nixon Could Be New York’s Next Governor

By Fox News. Cynthia Nixon, known as Miranda Hobbes by fans of HBO’s “Sex and the City” series, officially declared her candidacy for governor of New York on March 19 – challenging incumbent Democrat Andrew Cuomo.

“New York is my home. I’ve never lived anywhere else,” Nixon said in a campaign video. “New York is where I was raised and where I’m raising my kids. I’m a proud public school graduate and a prouder public school parent.”

“I love New York. I’ve never wanted to live anywhere else, but something has to change,” Nixon said, adding that the government should fix the state’s problems with healthcare, mass incarceration and the subway system.

Nixon, 51, is no stranger to politics. She’s often butted heads with Cuomo over issues pertaining to public education. She’s advocated for an increase in funding for public schools, breast cancer awareness and gay rights, among other things. She’s protested President Trump and campaigned for former President Barack Obama. . .

ID Concealed of Doctor Who ‘Bungled’ Late-Term Abortion

A lawsuit against Planned Parenthood alleges the abortion industry giant, which takes hundreds of millions of dollars a year from taxpayers, concealed the identity of an abortionist accused, along with a nurse, of bungling a late-term abortion.

OR Senior Vice President Cheryl Sullenger pointed out that while the lawsuit names Planned Parenthood League of Massachusetts Inc. and the nurse practitioner, Rebecca Kreiger, there is no mention of the abortionist.

That’s because Planned Parenthood redacted the abortionist’s name from the medical records of the pregnant woman, Celina Casas.

The complaint states: “On or about March 12, 2015, a doctor, whose name is redacted from the medical records and whose identity is unknown, performed the first step in a two-step abortion at the Planned Parenthood clinic in Worcester by softening the cervix.”

Teen Convert to Islam Murders Friend at Sleepover for Offending Muslim Faith

A seventeen-year-old recent convert to Islam murdered a 13-year-old boy with a knife and attempted to murder two others at a birthday party sleepover. After his arrest, he confessed to police that he viewed muslim-terrorist videos and read the Koran to “give him courage.”

Corey Johnson of Florida confessed to stabbing to death with a knife 13-year-old Jovanni Sierra in the wee morning hours on March 12. He explained to police that he was upset at the young teen because Sierra treated celebrities like idols and even referred to them as “gods,” which is against his Islamic faith.

Johnson then went on to assault the mother of the house, Elaine Simon, a family law attorney, when she sought to intervene. Finally, he stabbed Simon’s son, 13 year-old Dane Bancroft, because the boy “made fun of” the Islamic way he prayed and kissed the ground.

He also told police he “stabbed the victims because of his religious beliefs” in Islam.

Palm Beach Gardens Police Department Interim Chief Clint Shannon added in a press conference last week that Johnson took the murder weapon with him to the victims’ house. “This was not a random act of violence,” Shannon said. “Our understanding is he had converted to Islam and had been watching violent videos online.” (Read more from “Teen Convert to Islam Murders Friend at Sleepover for Offending Muslim Faith” HERE)

Chilling: Police Investigate Feminist, Stay-At-Home Mom for Tweets Against Transgenderism

I’ve written often in this space that the trans movement will countenance no dissent in their attempts to remake our culture and implement their agenda in schools, universities, and beyond—but even I was stunned when the Christian Post broke the story of a stay-at-home mother of four being contacted by the police for making comments critical of transgender ideology on Twitter—a story that has received very little attention so far. Kellie-Jay Keen-Minshull, it is important to note, is not a conservative Christian or even a political right-winger—when I emailed her, she noted in her response that she is “a feminist and pro-choice.”

Keen-Minshull’s story is positively chilling. She was contacted last month, apparently because Susie Green, the CEO of a UK organization called Mermaids which “supports transgender persons,” had decided to report Keen-Minshull to the police, who then got her details from Twitter. According to the Post, “the officer told her she was a ‘test case’ in a new ‘human rights’ fight they were undertaking.” Keen-Minshull had been tweeting about transgenderism and had been publicly critical of Green’s decision to fly her son to Thailand to “have his genitals removed when he was 16.” . . .

During the first phone call to Keen-Minshull, the police officer who spoke with her actually took it upon himself to defend transgender ideology, informing her that the trans movement was comparable to the movements that struggled to attain rights for blacks, as well as the gay rights movement. He then followed up and informed her that a face-to-face interview would be necessary and told her that this interview was compulsory—if she declined to show up, the police would consider her to be a “wanted” person. Keen-Minshull asked the officer what it would mean for her to be “wanted,” and the officer informed her that “should she attempt to leave the country she would be arrested, and that if she happened to be pulled over while driving she would be arrested.”

Keep in mind here that we are talking about a stay-at-home mother who tweeted her opinions—opinions that are widely held by many other people, including many other feminists. In a country that repeatedly says that they lack the law enforcement resources to track terrorism suspects, a mom of four who made statements on social media got a phone call from the cops followed up by a face-to-face interview, where she was interrogated about her views and informed that her own point of view was not valid. Police Interrogate Stay-At-Home Mom for Tweets Critical of Teen’s Sex Change Surgery

By The Christian Post. Police in England interrogated a stay-at-home mom for tweeting her disapproval of sex reassignment surgery for a minor, a move some say indicates alarming governmental censorship of free speech, especially speech related to transgenderism . . .

This “test case” came as a result of comments Keen-Minshull made on social media. Specifically at issue were tweets critical of transgenderism, postings where she referenced how Green had taken her son to Thailand to have his genitals removed when he was 16. He was reportedly the youngest person in the world to undergo sex reassignment surgery. Green’s son is said to have been prescribed puberty blockers by a doctor in Boston at age 12, and Jackie Green — who was born Jack — told the Daily Mail in 2012 that he has always been and never doubted he was a girl.

“It’s just that my body didn’t match because, as far as I’m concerned, I had a birth defect,” he said.

During the initial phone call, the policeman also reportedly likened this new transgender human rights endeavor to prior struggles of blacks and gays, Keen-Minshull explained on her website, recounting the events. The officer contacted her a second time and arranged a sit-down interview with her, mentioning that if she did not attend she would be considered “wanted.” When she inquired what that meant, he responded that should she attempt to leave the country she would be arrested, and that if she happened to be pulled over while driving she would be arrested.

“I may remind everyone here that I am a stay at home mother to four children and that I am a wife! I’m not Jihadi John, I am not part of a grooming gang or paedophile ring, I haven’t hurt anyone or abused anyone. I am a woman with an opinion,” she said on her blog. Catholic College Won’t Defend Student Threatened With Gay Rape for Defending Marriage

Catholic college students are threatening, harassing, and targeting a Resident Advisor (RA), including with a cartoon depicting him being anally raped, for posting a bulletin board affirming Catholic teaching on marriage . . .

Providence College, where this is taking place, is run by the Dominican order’s Province of St. Joseph – well-known in most places for its orthodoxy. However, in response to repeated vandalism of the bulletin board and other student employees threateningly congregating outside the Catholic RA’s door – requiring campus security to move Smalanskas to a safe, undisclosed location – the college’s president, a Dominican priest, said “it belongs to a Catholic college to consider the views of those who disagree with the Church’s teaching.”

Another administrator, Vice President of Student Affairs Kristine Goodwin, sent an email to student leaders on March 14 encouraging them to attend a protest “against homophobia and transphobia,” quoting Pope Francis’ now-infamous claim that the Church should apologize to gays, and quoting Father Timothy Radcliffe, a Dominican priest who has suggested sodomy can be “eucharistic.”

Smalanskas is a 22-year-old senior and former seminarian from Holden, Massachusetts. He’s double majoring in philosophy and theology.

What is the “offense” Smalanskas committed that infuriated his fellow students so much they’ve called for him to be fired and raped?
