University President on Paid Leave After Indigenous Identity Claim: ‘I Deeply Apologize’

Memorial University President Vianne Timmons decided to go on voluntary paid leave after she became engulfed in a scandal surrounding her claimed Indigenous heritage.

In a statement released Monday, Timmons apologized for any pain her disputed claims to Indigenous ancestry have caused. Memorial University is an academic institution located in Newfoundland and Labrador, a Canadian province.

The controversy stems from Timmons claiming she has never benefited from her Indigenous ancestry, which she maintains is different from Indigenous identity.

“While I have shared that I am not Mi’kmaw and I do not claim an Indigenous identity, questions about my intentions in identifying my Indigenous ancestry and whether I have benefited from sharing my understanding of my family’s history have sparked important conversations on and beyond our campus,” Timmons conceded.

She claims she joined the Bras d’Or Mi’kmaq First Nation tribe, a tribe which is not recognized by Native Americans or Canada’s federal government, for a brief time around 2009 when her brother submitted their genealogy. Girls Basketball Team That Refused to Play Against a Transgender Athlete Banned From Sporting Events

A private Christian school in Vermont that forfeited a girls’ basketball game against a team with a biological male “transgender” player has been banned from participating in upcoming sporting events.

The Vermont Principals’ Association, which oversees school sporting events, announced on Monday that Mid Vermont Christian School would be ineligible to participate in sporting events and other activities done through the organization.

“The VPA again reiterates its ongoing support of transgender student-athletes as not only a part of building an inclusive community for each student to grow and thrive, but also as a clear expectation by Vermont state law(s) in the Agency of Education Best Practices, and in VPA Policy regarding transgender student athletes,” the announcement said.

Furthermore, the announcement included the VPA policy on “gender identity,” which is when a person feels like their gender does not align with their biological sex. (Read more from “Girls Basketball Team That Refused to Play Against a Transgender Athlete Banned From Sporting Events” HERE)

Berlin Allows Women to Swim Topless in Public Pools in Move for ‘Gender Equality’

The Berlin state government announced Thursday that it will soon allow women to swim topless in public pools— if they wish— just like men.

The new ruling follows on the heels of a discrimination complaint filed by an unidentified topless female swimmer who claimed she was prevented from entering a public pool in December 2022, CNN reported.

The Berlin Senate for Justice, Diversity and Anti-Discrimination issued a written statement claiming that the Berliner Baederbetriebe, which runs Berlin’s pools, changed its clothing rules in response to the female swimmer’s complaint and an ombudsperson’s involvement in the case, according to the Associated Press.

“The ombudsperson’s office very much welcomes the decision of the Baederbetriebe, because it establishes equal rights for all Berliners, whether male, female or non-binary, and because it also creates legal certainty for the staff at the Baderbetriebe,” Doris Liebscher, head of the ombudsperson’s office, announced.

Huge Proportion of Children Pursuing Gender Transitions Are Actually Autistic, Experts Believe

Children with autism make up an outsized proportion of the transgender-identified population, and autism spectrum traits make them particularly vulnerable to thought patterns that can lead youth to pursue gender transitions, according to research and medical professionals.

Transgender individuals are about three to six times more likely to be autistic than non-transgender people, research shows; the connection between transgenderism and autism has been a subject of interest for researchers since at least 2010, and the Gender Development Identity Service at Tavistock, the world’s largest pediatric gender clinic, came under fire in recent years over allegations that as many as 97.5% of its gender patients had autism. Dr. Susan Bradley, a Canadian psychiatrist and pioneer in treating gender dysphoria, told the DCNF that she now believes most pediatric gender patients are actually on the autism spectrum and are being exploited by medical professionals.

“When we were seeing these kids from a very young age, we had kids who would come into the clinic, a little girl who thinks she’s a boy or vice versa. It wasn’t uncommon to find that one of them thought they were a dog or a cat or something else,” said Bradley, who chaired the DSM-IV Subcommittee on Gender Disorders.

The Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM) is the official manual of the American Psychiatric Association, which is used for classifying and diagnosing mental disorders; Bradley led eight other doctors in establishing those guidelines in its 1994 edition.

Bradley began treating children with gender dysphoria around 1975, and over the years she observed that many of the patients had the traits of high-functioning autism, she told the DCNF. People with autism tend to focus very intensely on their subjects of interest and have great difficulty letting go of something once they believe it’s true, both of which make autistic adolescents particularly susceptible to issues with their gender identity and body image, she said. Supreme Court Considers Forcing Judges to Use Preferred Pronouns for Attorneys, Litigants

Michigan’s highest court is considering a rule change that would require judges to refer to attorneys and litigants by their preferred pronouns.

The Michigan Supreme Court sent a notice on January 18 that it was considering an amendment to Rule 1.109 of the Michigan Court Rules to force courts to comply with attorneys’ and parties’ desired pronouns in speech and in writing. Now, over a dozen Michigan judges and attorneys have expressed concern for what the rule’s implications would mean for free speech and religious liberty.

“Parties and attorneys may … include any personal pronouns in the name section of the caption, and courts are required to use those personal pronouns when referring to or identifying the party or attorney, either verbally or in writing,” the proposed rule states.

Michigan judges and attorneys are writing to the court and speaking out about the problematic amendment. In an eight-page response to the proposed rule, William R. Bloomfield, general counsel for the Diocese of Lansing, said that it would be a direct violation of the First Amendment.

“In brief, requiring courts, i.e., judges, to use a person’s own designated personal pronouns is an unconstitutional violation of free speech and free exercise of religion,” he wrote, adding, “And as vital as the interest in free speech is for ordinary citizens, or groups of citizens, it is perhaps even more important for judges to be free of any compulsory speech.” (Read more from “Supreme Court Considers Forcing Judges to Use Preferred Pronouns for Attorneys, Litigants” HERE)

Millennials Are Racking Up More Chronic Health Conditions Compared to Other Generations: Study

Millennials are seeking more professional help for health issues than ever, a new study revealed.

Conducted by United Healthcare and Health Action Council, the study explored factors and claims data from policyholders ages 27 to 42 — a total of 126,000 individuals.

It compared current data from April 2021 through March 2022 to historical data dating back to 2012. The findings were presented in the groups’ sixth annual white paper.

Millennials with common chronic medical conditions and their children are “high utilizers” of the health care system compared to Generation X, the research found.

This includes 106% more hospital admissions for millennials with diabetes and 55% more emergency room (ER) and urgent care (UC) visits for hypertension. (Read more from “Millennials Are Racking Up More Chronic Health Conditions Compared to Other Generations: Study” HERE)

WATCH: Jane Fonda Encourages “Murder” to Fight Pro-Life Laws

Hollywood icon and far-left activist Jane Fonda suggested abortion-seeking women shouldn’t abide by laws and could even resort to “murder” in order to have control of their bodies on Friday during a wild appearance on “The View.”

“We have experienced many decades now of having agency over our body, of being able to determine when and how many children to have. We know what that feels like, we know what that’s done for our lives,” Fonda said. “We’re not going back, I don’t care what the laws are. We’re not going back.”

Co-host Sonny Hostin smiled as she said, “That’s the activist,” and co-host Joy Behar was heard responding, “That’s Jane.” . . .

Behar then asked the 85-year-old Fonda what can be done aside from “marching” and protesting the overturning of Roe v. Wade by the Supreme Court.

“Well, I’ve thought of murder,” Fonda said during cross-talk before her “Grace and Frankie” co-star Lily Tomlin asked her to repeat herself. (Read more from “Jane Fonda Encourages “Murder” to Fight Pro-Life Laws” HERE)

3.2 Million U.S. Children Attend Public Schools That Conceal Students’ Gender Identities From Parents

According to an investigation conducted by the conservative group Parents Defending Education, more than 3.2 million American children attend public schools that have policies in place to conceal students’ gender identities from parents.

Last summer, the Biden administration proposed new Title IX rules that would allow all U.S. public school employees to withhold children’s gender status from parents. Those regulations could become federal policy if approved in May.

PDE compiled a list of public school districts across the United States with policies that currently “openly state” district officials can or should hide a student’s gender status from his or her parents.

The controversial district policies have already sparked legal battles across the nation.

The nonprofit notes that the list is not comprehensive but, so far, includes 5,904 schools from 168 districts nationwide. The list contains two of the largest school districts in the country, Chicago Public Schools and Los Angeles Unified School District. Florida Introduces ‘Heartbeat Bill’ to Ban Abortions at 6 Weeks

Republicans in the Florida House and Senate filed a bill that would virtually ban all abortions across the state.

Filed by Fort Pierce Republican Sen. Erin Grall, SB 300 would ban doctors from knowingly performing or inducing a termination of pregnancy after the sixth week of gestation.

The “Heartbeat bill” would prohibit a woman from receiving an abortion right around the time the baby’s heartbeat can first be detected, with the exception of saving the life of the mother, fatal fetal abnormality in a pregnancy that has not progressed to the third trimester, and in the case of rape or incest before 15 weeks of pregnancy.

Florida already has a 15-week abortion ban that Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-Fla) signed last year. However, he signaled that he would support a six-week limit on the procedure. (Read more from “Florida Introduces ‘Heartbeat Bill’ to Ban Abortions at 6 Weeks” HERE)

Sports Broadcaster Calls Decision on USA Powerlifting and Transgender Athletes ‘Unfair to Women’

USA Powerlifting was ordered to allow transgender women to compete with biological females in the women’s division after losing a discrimination case.

The decision drew ire from many across social media, including ESPN anchor Sage Steele, who noticed the news made waves at the start of Women’s History Month.
