The Latest Wave of New Firearm Owners Shreds Another Anti-Gun Narrative

First, I’m shocked NBC News would write a story like this about gun owners. Second, it’s about yet another hurdle anti-gunners have to scale when pushing their ‘take all the guns’ initiatives. (via NBC News):

Two days after a white man shot and killed 10 Black people in Buffalo last month, Michael Moody reversed his thinking about possessing a firearm. He had watched the aftermath of the carnage on the news, the anguish of the victims’ families, and decided he “needed a gun. Needed, not wanted,” he said.

[…]

Moody’s sentiments represent one reason the sale of guns to Black Americans rose 58 percent in 2020 — the year George Floyd was murdered by a Minnesota police officer, sparking a nationwide social justice movement — according to the National Shooting Sports Foundation, a firearms trade association. It was the highest bump in gun sales of any ethnic group that year.

Further, in the first quarter of 2021, another NSSF report revealed 90 percent of gun retailers reported a general increase of Black customers, including an 87 percent increase among Black women. . .

The foundation said 40 percent of the overall gun sales in 2020 were to first-time gun purchasers. Black gun owners, old and new, say the rise is a byproduct primarily of a heightened fear they could be targeted like those in Buffalo or at Emanuel A.M.E. Church in Charleston, South Carolina, in 2015, when nine Black church members were killed by a white supremacist.

Elon Musk Shows Support for This Potential 2024 Candidate

. . .Elon Musk announced that for the first time in his life, he voted for a Republican.

That Republican is Mayra Flores, who won the special election for Texas’ 34th Congressional District, flipping the House seat red. . .

He also made a projected notion that he would vote for Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-Fla.) in the 2024 presidential election, should he decide to run.

Anti-Gun Protesters Don’t Know What an AR-15 Is

. . .Thousands of anti-gun protesters flooded the National Mall in Washington, D.C., on Saturday to demand action in the wake of a string of mass shootings.

Among the prospective actions was outlawing AR-style weapons. A ban on the AR-15, in particular, was widely supported by protesters.

The Washington Examiner sent a pair of reporters to ask those who supported banning the AR-15 to point out the rifle in a list of firearms ranging from a revolver to a howitzer.

Off the top of their heads, few were able to do so, and more than one protester mistook a common paintball gun for the AR-15. (Read more from “Anti-Gun Protesters Don’t Know What an AR-15 Is” HERE)

Fueling a Crisis: Here’s What’s Driving High Gas Prices — And Why They’re Not Going Away

Record-high gas prices are the biggest cause of red-hot inflation heading into the high-demand summer months — and the factors behind the wallet-busting costs show no signs of easing up.

Crude oil prices, which have spiked beyond $100 a barrel, now account for 60% of the price of a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline, according to April data from the federal Energy Information Administration.

The cost of crude shot up amid both increasing demand as the COVID-19 pandemic wanes and the global supply chain disruption caused by the Russian invasion of Ukraine and subsequent Western-imposed sanctions.

Just a year ago, crude oil prices accounted for 52% of the cost of a gallon of gas – and only 25% of the cost during the COVID lockdowns of April 2020, the New York Times reported.

Refining costs account for another 17% of the price per gallon as of this April, while 12% of the cost went toward taxes and 11% toward distribution and marketing, EIA data showed. (Read more from “Fueling a Crisis: Here’s What’s Driving High Gas Prices — And Why They’re Not Going Away” HERE)

No Record of Brain-Dead Biden’s Naval Academy Appointment He Boasted About; Hunter Biden Leaked Audio: My Dad ‘Thinks I’m a God’

No Record of Biden Naval Academy Appointment He Boasted of in Speech

By New York Post. President Biden claimed last month at the Naval Academy’s graduation ceremony that he was appointed to the military school in 1965 by the late Sen. J. Caleb Boggs (R-Del.), but a search of Boggs’ archives has failed to turn up evidence to back the claim.

Curators at the Delaware Historical Association in Wilmington were able to find records of Boggs’ academy nominations for just one year in the early 1960s and could not locate records for either 1965 or the more plausible year 1961.

That means, barring evidence from an unlikely third party, that it’s probable only Biden — who often shares incorrect or exaggerated memories — can prove his claim.

“Our staff devoted a large chunk of last week to this project. We hauled and sorted through a few dozen boxes from the relevant years, which proved to be a needle-in-a-haystack proposition, as we feared,” chief curator Leigh Rifenburg told The Post.

Rifenburg said the three-person library staff was able to find a list of Boggs’ academy picks for 1962 after a “box-by-box” search, but that Biden wasn’t on that list. A congressional nomination is needed to attend the academy, but it’s unclear if Boggs nominated candidates each year, Rifenburg said. Hunter Biden Leaked Audio: My Dad ‘Thinks I’m a God’

By Breitbart. Hunter Biden said his father, President Joe Biden, “thinks I’m a god,” according to a report.

Speaking about fears of being disliked, Hunter said he does not have a fear of being disliked because President Joe Biden “thinks I’m a god,” according to a 2018 audio recording obtained by the Washington Examiner from Hunter’s “laptop from hell.”

“All those fears you think that I have of people not liking me or that I don’t love myself … I don’t fear that. You know why I don’t fear that? Because the man I most admire in the world, that god to me, thinks I’m a god,” Hunter said. . .

Nevertheless, Joe Biden has continually praised his corrupt son. During a segment on CBS’ “The Late Show” with Stephen Colbert, Joe Biden called Hunter “the smartest man I know,” which includes former President Barack Obama and former President Donald Trump.

“He is the smartest man I know,” Joe Biden said. “We have great confidence in our son. I am not concerned about any accusations made against him. It’s used to get to me. I think it’s kind of foul play,” Joe Biden said. (Read more from “Hunter Biden Leaked Audio: My Dad ‘Thinks I’m a God’” HERE)

SCOTUS Justice Protection Bill One Step Closer to Becoming Law

The House passed a bill 396-27 to increase security for Supreme Court justices’ immediate families on Tuesday, approving a measure that had already been passed by unanimous consent in the Senate.

The bill comes after one man was arrested for allegedly plotting to kill Justice Brett Kavanaugh and protesters demonstrated outside the homes of conservative justices following the leak of a draft opinion in a high-profile abortion case.

The bill provides for 24-hour protection for Supreme Court justices’ families, similar to what is already provided for some members of the executive and legislative branches. . .

The Senate bill was introduced three days after Politico published the leaked draft opinion, which suggested that the Supreme Court intends to overturn Roe v. Wade. While the Senate acted quickly, the House waited more than a month before approving the bill. (Read more from “SCOTUS Justice Protection Bill One Step Closer to Becoming Law” HERE)

Poll: Support for Assault-Weapon Ban Is Lowest Ever Recorded

Fewer Americans support a ban on so-called assault weapons than Quinnipiac has ever recorded, the pollster reported on June 8.

Americans are about evenly divided on whether the government should ban assault weapons, the poll found, the lowest show of support for such a ban since February 2013, when Quinnipiac first started asking about it.

These results come even as mainstream media outlets and Democratic politicians, including President Joe Biden, have ramped up calls for an assault-weapon ban in light of recent mass shootings and ahead of this year’s midterm elections.

A plurality of respondents, including most Republicans and independents and 31 percent of Democrats, told Quinnipiac that mental health issues are the main cause of mass shootings committed by young people. Only 19 percent of all respondents say “the availability of guns” is the main cause. A majority of Americans, meanwhile, oppose any efforts to limit the number of firearms in the country. DRUG CRISIS: Sheriff Warns Against Picking Up Folded Up Cash In The Street. Here’s Why

A Sheriff’s office in Tennessee is warning the public against picking up folded dollar bills because of possible fentanyl and methamphetamine exposure.

The Giles County Sheriff’s Department saw two incidents where a folded dollar bill was discovered on a local gas station floor that had a white powder inside that was later found to be fentanyl and methamphetamine, the office announced Thursday.

“This is very dangerous issue! Please share and educate your children to not pick up any folded money they may find in or around businesses, playgrounds etc., without using great caution and even alerting a parent or guardian,” the announcement said.
