Highland Park Parade Mass Shooting Suspect Arrested After Brief Police Pursuit

By NBC Chicago. The 22-year-old person of interest connected to the Highland Park Independence Day parade mass shooting that left at least six people dead and approximately two dozen others “seriously injured” Monday morning has been arrested, police said.

Police said 22-year-old Robert “Bobby” E Crimo III was taken into custody following a brief police pursuit that ended in north suburban Lake Forest.

Authorities said Crimo’s vehicle was located in north Chicago and officers attempted to stop him before he fled the scene, leading police on a brief pursuit before coming to a stop.

He was taken into custody “without incident,” police said. and he was taken to the Highland Park Police Department for questioning. No charges had been filed as of late Monday night. . .

Highland Park Attack Occurred Despite Red Flag Law, Other Stringent Gun Controls

By Breitbart. A red flag law, a waiting period for gun purchases, licensing requirements, and numerous other gun controls did not prevent the July 4, 2022, Highland Park attack.

Mike Bloomberg’s Everytown for Gun Safety lists Illinois as the state with the sixth most stringent gun laws in the country.

Moreover, Gabby Giffords gun control group gives Illinois a grade of A- on gun control.

Illinois has a red flag law, a waiting period for gun purchases, gun owner licensing, domestic violence gun laws, “open carry regulations,” and numerous other gun controls. . .

Cook County has an “assault weapons” ban that also bans “high-capacity” magazines. In neighboring Lake County, the City of Highland Park has an “assault weapons” ban that also bans “large-capacity” magazines. Here’s How Confident Americans Are in SCOTUS

Days before the Supreme Court of the United States (SCOTUS) overturned landmark abortion rulings Roe v. Wade and Planned Parenthood v. Casey, a poll showed Americans’ confidence in the Supreme Court was at a historic low.

The Gallup poll showed that 25 percent of Americans had confidence in the Supreme Court, down from 36 percent in 2021. The lowest previously recorded was 30 percent in 2014.

Gallup’s write-up claimed that last September, a poll showed the Supreme Court’s job approval rating at a new low after it declined to block a Texas abortion law. Joe Biden Trashes America on Independence Day

President Joe Biden celebrated Independence Day on Monday, but expressed disappointment about ongoing gun violence and the Supreme Court decision to overturn Roe v. Wade.

“Liberty is under assault, both here and abroad,” he said, alluding to the Supreme Court. “In recent days, there’s been reason to think this country is moving backward, that freedom is being reduced, that rights we assumed were protected are no longer.”

The president delivered a speech to the American people from the White House as part of a barbecue with military service members.

He revisited his presidential campaign slogan, noting the country is still in an “ongoing battle for the soul of America.”

Text Messages Show Ex-Aide Cassidy Hutchinson Referring to January 6 Committee as ‘BS’

By Daily Caller. The January 6 committee’s key witness, Cassidy Hutchinson, called the committee “bs” in a text message obtained exclusively by the Daily Caller.

On Feb 1. Hutchinson sent a text to a conservative activist with connections to the First Amendment Fund, which is a group started by the American Conservative Union that helps Trump officials cover costs for Jan. 6 lawyers. Matt Schlapp said Hutchinson approached CPAC for help through the First Amendment Fund. Schlapp said he is happy they did not end up assisting her because she was relaying White House “hallway gossip as fact.” . . .

In the text message, Hutchinson says: “Hey (redacted)! This is Cassidy Hutchinson. Kind of a random question, but do you still work for the Schlapp’s at the ACU?” . . .

Hutchinson then said, “Do you happen to know a First Amendment fund POC I could reach out to? I was subpoenaed in early Nov., but the committee waited to serve me until last week (after Ben’s deposition).”

“I had to accept service because the U.S. Marshalls came to my apartment last Wednesday, but I haven’t made contact with the Committee. I’m just on a tight timeline and just trying to figure out what my options are to deal with this bs,” Hutchinson added.

One Major Group of Voters Fleeing ‘Woke’ Politics of Democrats

After this month’s historic special election win in South Texas, Republican strategists nationwide are asking themselves: how can we replicate now-Congresswoman Mayra Flores’s success in flipping an 84% Hispanic district to the GOP? Meantime, Democrats are burying their heads in the South Texas sand as Hispanic voters flee their party.

It’s not rocket science to appeal to Hispanic voters and persuade them to vote Republican. My firm’s work with the Hispanic Republican Coalition of Pennsylvania shows how to do it.

Our polling shows us that welcoming Hispanic voters to the GOP requires something fairly simple: a message on key issues, delivered in English and Spanish.

Take our recent poll of Hispanic voters in Pennsylvania’s swingy 7th and 8th congressional districts in the Lehigh Valley, a booming logistics hub, and in historically Democratic Northeastern Pennsylvania. These areas are packed with manufacturing and warehousing jobs, and workers have flocked to them. Many Hispanic families came here two generations ago for a better quality of life; more arrived in recent years from the Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico, by way of New York City. Their concerns are those of working people: high gas prices, a baby formula shortage, and soaring crime.

A significant number of Hispanic voters here say that they’re registered Democrats who now consider themselves Republicans. In our polling, Democrats are leading the generic Senate ballot by 50-38%, with 9% of Hispanic voters undecided. If we split those undecided voters in November, the result – winning support from over four in ten Pennsylvania Hispanics – would be a sea change in voting habits, driving several endangered Democrats out of their seats and retaining the open U.S. Senate seat for Republican Mehmet Oz. Supreme Court Poised to End Leftwing Election Shenanigans

Blue state judges and liberal bureaucrats caught flak for littering their states with drop-boxes and accepting mail-in ballots during the 2020 election without permission from lawmakers. The Supreme Court is poised to stop them from doing it again in 2024.

The justices announced Thursday that they will hear a case later this year involving the “independent state legislature theory,” which holds that state lawmakers alone control election procedures and redistricting. The news invigorated conservative groups who say bureaucratic tinkering with district lines and election laws is destroying public confidence in the political process.

“Dark money-fueled left-wing lawyers have misused the courts to manipulate election laws and undermine commonsense voting safeguards for political gain,” the Honest Election Project’s Jason Snead said. “The Supreme Court now has the chance to uphold the Constitution and ensure that future elections have safeguards that make it easier to vote and harder to cheat.”

The justices stepped into a heated debate by taking the case. Late-breaking changes to election procedures helped fuel former president Donald Trump’s narrative that Democrats stole the 2020 election. For their part, Democrats see the case as yet another attack on voting rights, and a bid to insulate pro-gerrymandering lawmakers from judicial scrutiny.

The Constitution provides that the “time, place, and manner” of elections shall be “prescribed in each state by the legislature thereof.” A second rule with similar language governs selection of presidential electors. On that basis, Republican lawyers say each state legislature has the final say on election rules, such as voter ID laws or absentee balloting, as well as the decennial redistricting process. BLOODY HOLIDAY WEEKEND: Dozens Shot, Nearly 10 Killed as Violence Floods Dem-Run City (VIDEO)

Violence in Chicago continues to escalate over the long July 4th weekend, with 54 people shot, 7 of them fatally.

The weekend kicked off with 22 people shot, four fatally, within the span of 20 hours on Friday. Violent encounters with police also popped up throughout the weekend, with Chicago Police Superintendent David Brown begging parents to take responsibility over their children.

“There’s no reason why everyone can’t enjoy the holiday and every event safely. Parents, please, please know where your children are,” he said. “Don’t leave them to government to be the parents of your kids. We need you, parents, please, to help us make sure your young people are safe.”

A crowd of protesters in Chicago’s Loop attacked police cars with fireworks and blunt objects after authorities responded to reports of cars doing donuts in an intersection.

Is Gavin Newsom Running for President? Governor’s July 4 Ad Targets DeSantis

California Gov. Gavin Newsom took aim at Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis in a new campaign ad, claiming “freedom is under attack” in states such as Florida that are run by Republican governors.

“Your Republican leaders, they’re banning books,” Newsom says in the ad as images of DeSantis play on the screen. The California Democrat goes on to say Republican governors are also “making it harder to vote, restricting speech in classrooms, even criminalizing women and doctors.”

Newsom appeared to be referencing a DeSantis move to reject 41% of the state’s math books over concerns that the books used material that included themes of social-emotional learning, Common Core standards and critical race theory, which are all banned under Florida law. . .

“I urge all of you living in Florida to join the fight,” Newsom says, adding that Floridians could also “join us in California, where we still believe in freedom.”

Jeff Bezos Blasts Biden for Blaming Gas Companies for High Pump Prices

Amazon founder Jeff Bezos ripped President Biden for blaming sky-high prices at the pump on gas station companies — accusing the commander-in-chief of either employing “misdirection” or of displaying a “deep misunderstanding” of economic fundamentals.

In a tweet on Saturday, Biden wrote: “My message to the companies running gas stations and setting prices at the pump is simple: this is a time of war and global peril.”

“Bring down the price you are charging at the pump to reflect the cost you’re paying for the product,” the president continued. “And do it now.”

Bezos, the second richest person in the country, blasted Biden’s message in a response on Twitter later Saturday.

“Ouch. Inflation is far too important a problem for the White House to keep making statements like this,” posted Bezos, owner of the Washington Post.

Jordan Peterson faces a permanent ban on Twitter if he does not delete a tweet about transgender actor Elliot Page. The professor emeritus of psychology at the University of Toronto proclaimed that he would “rather die” than conform to Twitter’s rules and delete the tweet in question.

Peterson’s tweet posted on June 22 read: “Remember when pride was a sin? And Ellen Page just had her breasts removed by a criminal physician.”

In the tweet, Peterson linked to an article titled: “Elliot Page is ‘proud’ to introduce trans character on ‘Umbrella Academy.’” . . .

The best-selling author defiantly responded to his Twitter suspension in a 14-minute-long YouTube video, during the diatribe he said he would not bend the knee to the “toxic” “rat-hole” social media platform.

“I’ve essentially been banned from Twitter as a consequence,” Peterson said. “I say ‘banned’ although technically I’ve been suspended. But the suspension will not be lifted unless I delete the hateful tweet in question, and I would rather die than do that. Hopefully, it will not come to that, although who the hell knows in these increasingly strange days.”
