Jury Selection Begins in Kyle Rittenhouse Trial

Jury selection began Monday in the high-profile case of Kyle Rittenhouse, an Illinois teenager who is accused of shooting and killing two people and wounding another at a police brutality protest-turned-riot in Kenosha, Wisconsin, last year.

Rittenhouse, a then-17-year-old youth cadet and part-time YMCA lifeguard, faces multiple charges, including two counts of first-degree homicide, attempted homicide, reckless endangerment, and a curfew violation. He has pleaded not guilty. If convicted of first-degree homicide, he could spend the rest of his life behind bars.

His case has become a political and social lightning rod, pitting armed citizens against demonstrators who demanded change after Kenosha police officer Rusten Sheskey, a white man, shot Jacob Blake Jr., a black man, seven times at close range in the back.

Blake’s shooting was one of several race-involved incidents that rocked the nation in 2020.

The incident was caught on video and brought hundreds to the small city nestled on the banks of Lake Michigan between Milwaukee and Chicago . Peaceful protests gave way to violent clashes that ended in two deaths, several injuries, multiple arrests, and $50 million in damages. Rioters burned buildings, looted stores, and caused so much mayhem that it thrust the small manufacturing city into the national spotlight. Loudoun Official Claimed He Might Not Have Seen Email Informing Him of Sex Assault — Despite Responding to It

Internal Loudoun County School Board emails show a shifting explanation about how much school board members knew about a bathroom sex assault, with one member writing to the superintendent in the wake of cover-up allegations that he might have “missed an email” informing him about it — even though he previously responded to that very email asking a follow-up question, after also hearing about the incident from someone else.

“From my memory I recall” only learning about it “during the public comment process,” Democrat board member Harris Mahedavi wrote to the superintendent on October 12, one day after The Daily Wire revealed that a girl had been raped in a bathroom May 28, that the superintendent had denied it in a public board meeting June 22, and that the school system had quietly transferred the assailant to another school, where he was arrested for a different sex assault October 6.

As has been previously reported, immediately after the May rape, Ziegler wrote to the school board members saying, “The purpose of this email is to provide you with information regarding an incident that occurred at Stone Bridge HS. This afternoon a female student alleged that a male student sexually assaulted her in the restroom.”

Three weeks later, on June 22, Ziegler said in a public board meeting that “To my knowledge, we don’t have any record of assaults occurring in our restrooms.” None of the school board members raised the discrepancy. Wisconsin Investigation Uncovers Potential Tip of a Voting Fraud Iceberg

Last Thursday, the Racine County, Wisconsin sheriff’s office held an hour-long press conference detailing the results of an investigation into a complaint the office received of potential violations of state election law. While leftist media ignored the story, the investigation revealed both blatant violations of state law by election officials and detailed evidence of voter fraud by stealing elderly Americans’ votes.

The methodical presentation by the Racine County Sheriff’s Office provided the context, as well as additional texture, to one discrete aspect of the irregularities that took place in Wisconsin during the 2020 presidential election. The press briefing highlighted the Wisconsin Election Commission’s illegal directive to municipalities not to “use the Special Voting Deputy process to service residents in care facilities,” and instead to “transmit absentee ballots to those voters by mail.”

Those well-versed in the many violations of election law that occurred in the last election have long known of the WEC’s override of the legislatively mandated use of special voting deputies. But Thursday’s presentation provided an accessible summary of the situation that (should have) resonated beyond political lines and put a figurative face to the fraud enabled by the state’s election officials’ own apparent fraud.

Sgt. Michael Luell, who led the investigation and presented his findings during the briefing, also has a law degree and has served as a prosecutor. This unique combination allowed him to simplify the situation, which he did by first highlighting key portions of Wisconsin code in a crisp PowerPoint presentation. . .

Section 6.875 of the Wisconsin election code provides the “exclusive means” of absentee voting in residential care facilities, the presentation noted. That statute requires the local municipality to dispatch two special voting deputies, or “SVDs,” to a facility. The SVDs must then personally deliver a ballot to residents of the facility and must witness the voting process. The statute further provides that only a relative or an SVD may assist the voter and then, following the vote, must seal the ballot envelope and deliver it to the clerk. Only 1/3 of Democrats Want Joe Biden to Run In 2024

A majority of Americans (62%) say they will trust the results of the 2024 election even if the candidate they support loses, which includes 82% of Democrats but only one third of Republicans (33%). More than eight in ten (81%) Americans believe there is a “serious threat” to our democracy including 89% of Republicans, 80% of independents, and 79% of Democrats. But when asked which party presents the bigger threat, there’s a split: 42% say Democrats, 41% say Republicans, and 8% say both. . .

Looking ahead to 2024, 36% of Democrats and Democratic leaning independents say their party will have a better chance winning the White House with Biden at the top of the ticket. 44% want someone else, and 20% are unsure.

Anti-Biden Rallying Cry Causes Mainstream Media Meltdown as Left Scrambles to Control the Narrative

Corporate media and liberal reporters have come together, united in a common cause as everyone from allegedly neutral reporters to far-left pundits have gone nuclear in an attempt to shut down three words: Let’s Go Brandon.

The phrase became an internet sensation last month after an NBC reporter at a NASCAR Xfinity Series race incorrectly reported that fans in the stands were chanting “Let’s Go Brandon” following a victory by driver Brandon Brown, when they were really shouting, “F–k Joe Biden!” . . .

But the chant’s popularity has infuriated the left, resulting in an onslaught of angry tweets, columns and hot takes from liberal pundits. NPR labeled the term “vulgar” and CNN’s Edward-Issac Dovere was so offended by the phrase that he called it “an inside joke telling the president of the United States to perform a sexual act on himself.” . . .

Washington Post reporters Ashley Parker and Carissa Wolf wrote on what they considered “vitriol” from Biden critics in a piece titled “Biden’s critics hurl increasingly vulgar taunts.” . . .

CNN has also complained about the chant on air when political analyst Maggie Haberman, who is also a New York Times reporter, spoke somberly about South Carolina Republican Congressman Jeff Duncan wearing a mask with the “Let’s Go Brandon” phrase on it. Supreme Court Hears Texas Pro-Life Law Arguments

The Supreme Court on Monday heard oral arguments concerning a Texas law that has banned most abortions in the state.

The Texas law known as S.B. 8 would ban most abortions at about six weeks, when a fetal heartbeat may be detected. The justices are hearing arguments in two cases over whether abortion providers or the Justice Department can mount federal court challenges to the law.

The issue being argued is who can be sued — including state judges and court clerks, who would oversee any litigation. In the initial lawsuits, the abortion clinics had sued those judicial officials, since state executive officers would not have that authority to enforce S.B. 8.

That “gateway” issue will be key for the state and federal courts poised to continue hearing the case in coming months. The state has argued judicial officers are not responsible for enforcing the abortion restriction and can’t be sued.

In neither case is the right to an abortion directly at issue, but the motivation for lawsuits filed by abortion providers and the Justice Department is that the Texas law conflicts with landmark Supreme Court rulings that prevent a state from banning abortion early in pregnancy. An unsubstantiated rumor claimed that President Joe Biden’s unusually long visit with Pope Francis was the result of a bathroom emergency.

CBS Senior White House correspondent Weijia Jiang apparently raised the question when she noted that Biden’s visit – en route to the G20 Summit in Glasgow – had been noticeably longer than those of former Presidents Barack Obama and Donald Trump.

“The Vatican shared that President Biden and Pope Francis met privately for one hour and 15 minutes, which is a long time for the Pope to spend with any world leader. President Obama’s one on one meeting lasted for 50 minutes. President Trump’s was 30 minutes,” Jiang tweeted, although she left out the fact that Biden – the only Catholic among the three – might have had more to discuss with the Pope simply because they shared the same faith.

The rumor appeared to start a short time later with a tweet from former Republican Nevada Chairwoman Amy Tarkanian, who claimed without presenting any evidence that Biden’s possible accident was the topic of much discussion in Rome.

By The Blaze. A pilot for Southwest Airlines triggered one customer — who happened to be an Associated Press reporter — on Friday after saying “Let’s go, Brandon” over the plane’s intercom system.

Over the last month, “Let’s go, Brandon” has become a national chant to express opposition to President Joe Biden.

The incident on the Southwest Airlines flight took place Friday morning.

“On Friday morning on a Southwest flight from Houston to Albuquerque, the pilot signed off his greeting over the public address system with the phrase, to audible gasps from some passengers,” the AP reported.

Pilot Under Investigation for Saying ‘Let’s Go Brandon’ During Announcement, Southwest Airlines Says

By ABC 13. A Southwest Airlines pilot is under investigation after he allegedly used a phrase used as a way of swearing at President Joe Biden.

The incident happened Friday on a flight out of Houston. The pilot was finishing his announcement when he used the phrase, “Let’s go Brandon.” . . .

In a statement, Southwest Airlines said it is conducting an internal investigation into the reported event while “continuing to remind all employees that public expression of personal opinions while on duty is unacceptable.”

Report: U.S. Intelligence Agencies Won’t Determine COVID-19 Origins

With the information currently available to them, U.S. intelligence agencies say they won’t be able to definitively determine how COVID-19 originated.

The Associated Press reported that intelligence officials on Friday said they could not conclude “whether COVID-19 spread by animal-to-human transmission or leaked from a lab” while releasing a full review of their investigation into the origins.

“The paper issued by the Director of National Intelligence elaborates on findings released in August of a 90-day review ordered by President Joe Biden. That review said that U.S. intelligence agencies were divided on the origins of the virus but that analysts do not believe the virus was developed as a bioweapon and that most agencies believe the virus was not genetically engineered,” the AP reported.

The outlet also noted that China is not being forthcoming when it comes to investigations of the origins of the virus.

Former President Donald Trump and Republicans initially tried to find out how the coronavirus originated but were dismissed as conspiracy theorists and racists. As The Daily Wire previously reported, the Biden administration earlier this year admitted that it was just as possible that the coronavirus escaped from a lab in Wuhan, China, as it was that the virus emerged naturally. It was a complete turnaround from the previous year, when media outlets such as The Washington Post declared suggestions that the virus originated in a Wuhan lab were “debunked. Back then, Sen. Tom Cotton (R-AR) was “fact checked” by people who had no first-hand knowledge of where the virus came from, but who insisted China must be telling the truth that the coronavirus originated in a wet market. Report: AT&T Offering Critical Race Theory Training Program: ‘White People, You Are the Problem’

AT&T — the world’s largest telecommunications company — offers an employee training program that teaches premises such as “American racism is a uniquely white trait” and “white people, you are the problem,” according to a new report. AT&T has disputed some of the claims in the report, and dismissed it as “misleading.”

According to internal documents obtained by journalist Christopher F. Rufo, AT&T launched an initiative called “Listen Understand Act” last year that is “based on the core principles of critical race theory, including ‘intersectionality,’ ‘systemic racism,’ ‘white privilege,’ and ‘white fragility.'”

A senior AT&T employee, who spoke to Rufo on the condition of anonymity, said managers at the company now face annual assessments on diversity issues, and there is “mandatory participation” in “race reeducation exercises.” The source allegedly told Rufo that white employees are “expected to confess their complicity in ‘white privilege’ and ‘systemic racism,’ or they will be penalized in their performance reviews.”

The initiative encourages employees to read a Chicago Tribune article written by Dahleen Glanton that says, “White people, you are the problem.
