Federal Judge Upholds Year-Long Prison Sentence for January 6 Demonstrator After Admitting He Was ‘Neither Violent nor Destructive’

On the eve of the third anniversary of the January 6 Capitol riot, a federal court ruled against a pro-Trump demonstrator, saying that even though he was “neither violent nor destructive,” he could still be convicted of disorderly conduct and sentenced to a year in prison.

Russell Alford was sentenced on February 23, 2023, to a year in prison after being found guilty of entering and remaining in a restricted building or grounds, disorderly and disruptive conduct in a restricted building or grounds, disorderly conduct in a Capitol building, and parading, demonstrating, or picketing in a Capitol building.

Alford challenged “the reasonableness of his sentence and the sufficiency of the evidence to support two of his convictions, both of which charged him with engaging in ‘disorderly or disruptive conduct.’” But D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals Judge Karen LeCraft Henderson wrote Friday that the court affirmed his convictions, The Hill reported.

“The trial evidence indicated that, during Alford’s brief time within the Capitol, he was neither violent nor destructive,” wrote Henderson, a George H.W. Bush appointee. “Nevertheless, we affirm his convictions because a jury could rationally find that his unauthorized presence in the Capitol as part of an unruly mob contributed to the disruption of the Congress’s electoral certification and jeopardized public safety.” (Read more from “Federal Judge Upholds Year-Long Prison Sentence for January 6 Demonstrator After Admitting He Was ‘Neither Violent nor Destructive’” HERE)

Report: Prosecutor on Jack Smith’s Team Discouraged FBI From Looking Into Clinton Foundation in 2016

A top prosecutor now on Special Counsel Jack Smith’s team discouraged the FBI from pursuing an investigation into the Clinton Foundation in 2016 due to what he believed was “negligible evidence” despite the existence of “multiple” Suspicious Activity Reports related to “hundreds of thousands of dollars in foreign transactions,” according to a report.

Fox News Digital first reported on Friday that Ray Hulser, who was the former chief of the Justice Department’s Public Integrity Section but now serves on Smith’s team prosecuting former President Donald Trump, was the official who “declined prosecution” of the Clinton Foundation in 2016, according to Special Counsel John Durham’s report, which came out in May 2023.

The Durham report said that in January 2016, three different FBI field offices had opened investigations into “possible criminal activity involving the Clinton Foundation.” The three offices were the New York Field Office (NYFO), the Little Rock Field Office (LRFO), and the Washington Field Office (WFO).

The report said the LRFO case opening communication referred to an “intelligence product and corroborating financial reporting that a particular commercial ‘industry likely engaged a federal public official in a flow of benefits scheme, namely, large monetary contributions were made to a non-profit, under both direct and indirect control of the federal public official, in exchange for favorable government action and/or influence.’”

The report said the WFO investigation was opened as a preliminary investigation, because the Case Agent wanted to determine if he could develop additional information to corroborate allegations in the book Clinton Cash by Breitbart News senior contributor Peter Schweizer. Biden Admin Shocker: Defense Secretary Hospitalized Days Ago, Press Alarmed By Late Notice

The Biden administration waited until Friday to announce that Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin had been hospitalized on Monday, a delay of several days that alarmed the Pentagon press corps.

Pentagon Press Secretary Maj. Gen. Pat Ryder provided a brief update on Austin in a statement that was released by the Department of Defense (DoD) at around 5 p.m., or the close of business, right as the weekend was getting underway for many in the country.

“On the evening of January 1, Secretary of Defense Lloyd J. Austin III was admitted to Walter Reed National Military Medical Center for complications following a recent elective medical procedure,” Ryder said.

“He is recovering well and is expecting to resume his full duties today. At all times, the Deputy Secretary of Defense was prepared to act for and exercise the powers of the Secretary, if required,” he added.

Members of the media, some with decades of experience covering the Pentagon, voiced shock and concern in response to the announcement that some billed as a “Friday night news dump.” The Pentagon held a press briefing as recently as Thursday, and made no mention of Austin’s health scare. Dozens of high-profile names, including royalty, politicians, and renowned scientists, have emerged in a cascade of previously sealed court documents related to the notorious sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. Unveiled late Wednesday, the trove of papers is part of Epstein accuser Virginia Giuffre’s 2015 defamation suit against Ghislaine Maxwell, Epstein’s alleged “madam.”

The newly unsealed documents provide a disturbing glimpse into Epstein’s double life as a powerful financier who exploited his wealth and connections to victimize numerous young women. The 40 documents released so far are just a fraction of the approximately 250 expected to be disclosed, revealing over 170 individuals with ties to Epstein, including victims and former employees.

Among the prominent figures mentioned in the documents are:

Prince Andrew: Allegations of forced underage sex and participation in an “underage orgy” are revealed.

Bill Clinton: Former President’s name appears 73 times.

Donald Trump: Former President appears at least four times in the unsealed documents.

Alan Dershowitz: Epstein allegedly forced Jane Doe 3 to have sexual relations with the former Harvard Law professor.

Stephen Hawking: Epstein offered a reward to disprove allegations of Hawking’s involvement in an orgy.

Al Gore: Maxwell’s attorneys requested evidence related to the former Vice President.

Leslie Wexner: Maxwell denied giving a woman a sexual outfit for Epstein’s financial adviser.

Bill Richardson: Giuffre testified that Maxwell sent her to have sex with the late New Mexico Governor.

Jean-Luc Brunel: Maxwell ordered Giuffre to have sex with the French modeling scout.

Marvin Minsky: Giuffre claimed Maxwell ordered her to have sex with the computer scientist and AI pioneer.

Michael Jackson: Giuffre claimed to have met the pop icon at Epstein’s residence.

David Copperfield: Magician performed tricks at one of Epstein’s homes, as described by a witness.

Tom Pritzker: Giuffre claimed to have had sex once with the Hyatt hotel chain heir.

Glenn Dubin: Maxwell allegedly sent Giuffre to give the hedge fund billionaire an erotic massage.

Frédéric Fékkai: Epstein may have procured women for the French celebrity hairstylist.

Ehud Barak: Former Israeli Prime Minister associated with Epstein, according to the documents.

Kevin Spacey: Giuffre denied crossing paths with the acquitted actor.

George Lucas: “Star Wars” creator mentioned once in the documents, but denied association with Epstein.

Naomi Campbell: Giuffre testified about being sent to have sex around the time of Campbell’s birthday party.

Leonardo DiCaprio, Cate Blanchett, Cameron Diaz, and Bruce Willis: Mentioned in connection to Epstein’s boasts during massages, according to witness deposition.

As more documents are expected to be released, the scandal surrounding Jeffrey Epstein continues to unravel, exposing a dark chapter in the lives of the rich and powerful.

Air Guard Wing Commander Resigns Over Abortion Policy, Governor Says

The commander of the Arkansas Air National Guard’s 188th Air Wing resigned late last month for what the state’s Governor said is a protest of the Pentagon policy that pays for reproductive medical expenses, which includes out-of-state travel for abortions.

According to Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders’ office, Colonel Dillon Patterson resigned on December 18 as commander of the 188th Air Wing at Ebbing Air National Guard Base just, just outside the town of Fort Smith on the Oklahoma border.

Sanders announced Patterson’s resignation in a letter sent to President Joe Biden and Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin.

“Col. Patterson was forced to personally choose between either continuing his command or adhering to his sincerely held religious beliefs against abortion,” Sanders wrote in a letter first reported by the conservative outlet the Daily Caller. “Because he adhered first to his faith instead of overtly political mandates, he voluntarily resigned his command. I admire Col. Patterson for having the confidence of his convictions, but regret that our nation’s military will suffer the loss of a dedicated airman, leader, and guardsman as a commander.” (Read more from “Air Guard Wing Commander Resigns Over Abortion Policy, Governor Says” HERE)

Dem Rep Who Breathlessly Defends Biden Family Releases Trump Corruption Report — With One Big Problem

House Democrats published a report Thursday showing former President Donald Trump received at least $7.8 million from foreign sources, a smaller total than the Biden family.

Democratic Maryland Rep. Jamie Raskin, Ranking Member of the House Oversight Committee, released the Trump report and accused House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer of fighting his attempts to obtain business records for the report.

“President Trump’s businesses received, at a minimum, $7.8 million in foreign payments from at least 20 countries during his presidency. These included payments from foreign governments and foreign government-owned or -controlled entities to properties owned by Donald Trump,” the report reads.

The $7.8 million figure listed in the Trump report is less than the $15 million Biden family members made from roughly 2014-19 during and after Joe Biden’s vice presidency, according to a memo circulated in September by House Republicans. Who Is Iowa School Shooting Suspect Dylan Butler?

Gunman Dylan Butler endured years of relentless bullying that had recently engulfed his sister in the leadup to his violent rampage at his rural Iowa high school Thursday, community members said.

The 17-year-old was armed with a pump-action shotgun, a small-caliber handgun and a makeshift explosive device when he opened fire at Perry High School at 7:47 a.m., police said.

Butler killed a sixth-grader and injured five others, including his principal, before turning the gun on himself.

He had plans to kill many more, however — his body was found with the not-yet-detonated improvised explosive device, which cops described as “pretty rudimentary.” . . .

Sisters Yesenia Roeder and Khamya Hall, both 17, alongside their mother, Alita, told the Associated Press that Butler finally snapped after his younger sister started getting picked on, too. (Read more from “Who Is Iowa School Shooting Suspect Dylan Butler?” HERE)

Trump Accuses Special Counsel of Violating Court Order, Seeks Contempt Charges

Former President Donald Trump has accused special counsel Jack Smith of violating a court order that paused proceedings in the case. Trump, through his re-election campaign, is seeking to hold Smith in contempt of court for allegedly defying the stay granted by U.S. District Judge Tanya Chutkan.

The controversy revolves around the stay of proceedings that Judge Chutkan had imposed after Trump’s legal team appealed her decision to reject their request to dismiss the case. The appeal, centering on claims of presidential immunity and double jeopardy, is currently under consideration by the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals. However, Trump’s attorneys claim that Smith’s team continued making submissions despite the ongoing appeal, violating the stay order.

According to a 15-page filing by Trump’s legal team, prosecutors breached the stay almost immediately by serving thousands of pages of discovery and a “purported” draft exhibit list. The filing alleges that despite a warning from Trump regarding potential relief if such conduct persisted, prosecutors filed a motion containing “partisan rhetoric, including false claims.”

The filing further states, “In this manner, the prosecutors seek to weaponize the Stay to spread political propaganda, knowing that President Trump would not fully respond because the Court relieved him of the burdens of litigation during the Stay. Worse, the prosecutors have announced their intention to continue this partisan-driven misconduct indefinitely, effectively converting this Court’s docket into an arm of [President Joe Biden’s re-election] Campaign.”

Trump’s legal team is now requesting the federal court in Washington, D.C., to order prosecutors to show cause for why they should not be held in contempt. They also seek the withdrawal of their filings, a prohibition on future productions without express permission from the court, and monetary sanctions for attorneys’ fees and expenses incurred in the response.

As of now, Smith’s team has not issued an immediate reply to the filing, and they have declined to comment to the media. In the original stay order, Judge Chutkan emphasized the temporary pause on proceedings but clarified that deadlines and protective measures, such as the gag order against Trump, have not been permanently vacated.

In response to the recent developments, a spokesperson for Trump, Steven Cheung, stated, “Rather than respect the rule of law, Jack Smith unilaterally decided to disobey the stay order and continue with his harassing litigation, all done to keep parroting the pathetic Biden Campaign’s corrupt talking points in the name of election interference. As a result, President Trump is seeking to hold Deranged Jack in contempt of Court. No prosecutor is above the law.”

Unsealed Docs Seem to Include Claim That Clinton ‘Threatened’ Magazine Not to Write Epstein Sex-Trafficking Articles

After some Jeffrey Epstein-related documents were unsealed on Wednesday, a new batch of documents was unsealed on Thursday, including an email — which appears to be from Epstein accuser Virginia Giuffre — that seems to claim former President Bill Clinton “threatened” Vanity Fair not to do sex-trafficking pieces regarding Epstein.

“When i was doing some research into VF yesterday, it does concern me what they could want to write about me considering that B.Clinton walked into VF and threatened them not to write sex-trafficing articles about his good friend J.E.,” the email reads. While the email’s “From” line indicates that it is from “Virginia Giuffre,” the note appears to be signed “xoxoxoxo Jenna.”

Former Vanity Fair editor Graydon Carter told the Telegraph, “This categorically did not happen.”

The unsealed documents stem from a 2015 lawsuit lodged by Giuffre, which Giuffre and Ghislaine Maxwell settled in 2017, according to CNN. The outlet noted that Maxwell was found guilty of sex trafficking in 2021 but that her attorneys had said in a statement, “She has consistently and vehemently maintained her innocence.” (Read more from “Unsealed Docs Seem to Include Claim That Clinton ‘Threatened’ Magazine Not to Write Epstein Sex-Trafficking Articles” HERE)

DeSantis: Trump Is Not Pro-Life — He Flip-Flopped on the Sanctity of Life

Republican 2024 presidential hopeful Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) said Thursday on a CNN Town Hall that his rival for the nomination, former President Donald Trump, was not pro-life. . .

Host Kaitlan Collins said, “Do you think Donald Trump is not pro-life?”

DeSantis said, “Of course not. I mean, when you’re saying that pro-life protections are a terrible thing, by definition you are not pro-life. When you say that you want to have a federal law at 18 weeks or 20 weeks that would override a state like Iowa that has enacted pro-life protections, that would mean more abortions, not less abortions. Because very few abortions are happening that late anyway. So, he has flip-flopped on this issue. I don’t know if it’s because of political convenience or this is where he always believed in. But here’s the thing, some issues are pretty fundamental. How do you flip-flop on something like the sanctity of life?” (Read more from “DeSantis: Trump Is Not Pro-Life — He Flip-Flopped on the Sanctity of Life” HERE)
