In Focus – Flawed Election Systems

Days after the 2020 election, the bureaucrat in charge of the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (“CISA”) boasted: “The November 3rd election was the most secure in American history.” In essence he was saying, “I did a great job.” No surprise there! Shortly thereafter, Attorney General William Barr claimed that he had found no proof of fraud in the 2020 election “that could have affected a different outcome….” It was only later that we learned that Barr had told his subordinates not to investigate voter fraud. No wonder he had not found any proof! Since then, every “trusted voice” in the society has lectured us that our elections are fair, and honest, and above reproach. Fortunately, the American People have been able to see through the fraud that tries to convince us there is no voter fraud.

Vote By Mail

Just take one clear illustration. In 2005, President Jimmy Carter and former Secretary of State James Baker co-chaired the Commission on Federal Election Reform which warned: “Absentee ballots remain the largest source of potential voter fraud.” (Emphasis added.) So what do our election officials do — expand what were a small number of absentee ballots to a massive vote by mail system. Does that sound like a plan designed to minimize “voter fraud?”

Societal Decay

Can we expect elected officials to tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth? When the President of the United States can have sex with a White House intern in the Oval Office, and then lie under oath while looking directly into the camera and still escape punishment, the tone for the modern era has been set. Each person should evaluate for himself where our nation is on the continuum of sin set out in Romans 1:29-32.

And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient. Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers, Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things…. [Emphasis added.]

If our institutions (schools, colleges, media, the military, medicine, law, etc.) are resistant to truth, is there any reason to believe that the systems by which our elections are conducted are doing any better? Every effort to alter election laws to make election fraud easier is heralded as “promoting democracy.” Every effort to make fraud more difficult is an “attack on democracy itself.” In such a setting, there are many excellent reasons to doubt that the results reported by state election officials and the media will accurately reflect the actual votes cast by Americans.

The Motivations of Election Officials

Elections are conducted by governments, and governments are run by elected officials, or officials appointed by those elected officials. Those elected officials were elected under the current system — making it likely they would not be motivated to improve that system. Based on self-interest alone, can we assume that government election officials will be faithful to do their job in a nonpartisan manner, even to their own disadvantage? The judiciary often would prefer not to get involved, believing these problems are for the political branches — the legislature and the executive branches. However, leaving the matter to the political branches can result in the fox guarding the hen house.

The Willingness to Cheat to Win

Veteran pollster Scott Rasmussen last year asked Americans:

QUESTION: Suppose that your favorite candidate loses a close election. However, people on the campaign know that they can win by cheating without being caught. Would you rather have your candidate win by cheating or lose by playing fair? [Emphasis added.]

The result showed that while most “normal” Americans would not cheat, an overwhelming percentage of our political elites would cheat.

Just 7 percent of all Americans said they would want their candidate to win by cheating.

That number rose to 35 percent among the elite 1 percent of Americans who make over $150,000 a year, live in densely populated areas, and have postgraduate degrees.

Of that elite 1 percent, those who were part of the politically obsessed 1 percent, who talk about politics every day, 69 percent admitted to being willing to cheat.

Pollster Rasmussen was horrified: “I’ve been polling for a very long time and the last finding is the most terrifying poll result I’ve ever seen.”

But it gets worse. Consider what Americans have admitted they have done. A December 2023, Rasmussen poll: “found that more than 20 percent of voters who used mail-in ballots in 2020 admit they participated in at least one form of election fraud.”

Those in office who want to protect the current corrupt system will scold us, saying that to criticize our elections is to attack “Democracy itself,” but what they mean is it is an attack on them. If election officials were honest, they would welcome criticism to make the system better. However, they want to silence the critics, lest the People find out how corrupt the system truly is.

People Do Not Trust Elections

Neither Republicans nor Democrats believe that our electoral system is reliable. Compare two polls taken by Washington Post-University of Maryland:

In December 2023, 36 percent believed Joe Biden’s 2020 win was illegitimate; and

In October 2017, 42 percent believed that Trump’s 2016 win was illegitimate.

The public’s level of suspicion cannot be lessened by deriding those who question election results as election deniers, but can only be addressed in a meaningful way when voters see that election challenges are taken seriously and election laws are followed.

Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger

The points above can be demonstrated by what is happening now — in the days before the 2024 election — in Georgia state courts. On August 30, 2024, the DeKalb County Republican Party, Inc. filed an Application for a Writ of Mandamus against Secretary of State Bradford Raffensperger in Georgia Superior Court. The Secretary of State is the Chief Election Official of the state. The Application demonstrated that Raffensperger had long been on actual notice of security breaches in the Georgia election computer systems provided by Dominion Voting Systems (“Dominion”), but had refused to do anything about it.

The Superior Court scheduled an all-day hearing on September 30, 2024, at which two seasoned and highly credible election security witnesses testified for the DeKalb County GOP. The testimony, which was scarcely challenged on cross-examination, demonstrated serious security violations in the Dominion systems used throughout Georgia. Specifically, the encryption keys and passwords for the system were not being protected. In fact, they were accessible to any person with minimal computer skills, and once obtained, could be used to alter election results. Cyber expert witness Benjamin Cotton explained:

If I put this into analogy with banks, if you’ve got a bank vault and that’s the latest and greatest lock on that bank vault, and you tout that security on that bank vault, what they’ve done here is the equivalent of writing in big bold letters the combination on the wall next to the lock, okay, so there really is no security. [Emphasis added.]

How did the Secretary of State, a Republican, respond to this suit? His defense was that under Georgia law his only responsibility was to select a system previously approved by the U.S. Election Assistance Commission, which he did, and that ended his statutory duties. Therefore, anything beyond that initial decision was not his responsibility. He may be the Chief Election Official of the state, but he contended in court that even if he knew the passwords and encryption keys were readily available to manipulate election results, that was not his responsibility.

How did the Superior Court respond? In a Final Order issued on October 4, Judge Scott McAfee granted a motion to dismiss on the theory that the Secretary of State of Georgia has no continuing duty to ensure the system is working to record votes accurately. The people of Georgia should be much surprised to learn this is his view. Is there any wonder that the American people distrust the result of elections?

Lessons from Georgia

It is worth repeating that the people serving in public office today were elected to their positions under the current system or appointed by those elected officials. They have no burning desire to change a process that favored them. If the elections are being rigged, it is current incumbents who may have benefitted from the rigging. The government officials least willing to make improvements in the voting system are the Secretaries of State and other Chief Election Officials who have been in office while unreliable systems were selected and implemented. Can we really expect these office holders to admit when they have been either corrupt or incompetent?

JD Vance Could Oust Donald Trump From the Presidency Under This Scenario

If former President Donald Trump wins, his victory may be short-lived, retired American Enterprise Institute scholar Norm Ornstein speculated to Salon’s Chauncey DeVega — because his running mate, Ohio Sen. J.D. Vance, could essentially give him the boot if it becomes clear his cognitive decline has become too severe to carry out the basic functions of office.

This is a consequence of the 25th Amendment, which provides a mechanism for the president’s Cabinet to sideline him from duty if they deem the President cannot execute his duties.

“As the election approaches, I think we will see, excuse the cliche, more of Trump being Trump,” Ornstein told DeVega. “I also think we will see an increase in his cognitive decline, which I hope against hope is covered in the mainstream media. The public must be reminded that while the vice president is the only member of the Executive Branch who can’t be fired, the president can essentially be fired by the vice president should he become significantly impaired. This is accomplished through the 25th Amendment.”

“People must realize that a vote for Trump could easily be a vote for a President Vance,” said Ornstein. (Read more from “JD Vance Could Oust Donald Trump From the Presidency Under This Scenario” HERE)

Kamala Harris Is Too Stupid To Be President

Univision hosted a “Latinos Ask” town hall with Kamala Harris on Thursday night, and it was about as airheaded and disingenuous as you’d expect. Here was one word salad from the first five minutes — remarkably in response to a question about the two hurricanes that just decimated the southeast of the country:

Leadership is about understanding the importance of lifting people up, understanding that the character of our country is such that we are a people who have ambitions and aspirations, dreams, goals for ourselves and our families, and are entitled to have a leader who then invests in that. … The two visions [for our country], simply put, are that one is about the future, and the other is about the past and taking us backward. And I do believe that the American people are ambitious and aspirational about an investment in the future in a way that we are optimistic while being clear-eyed.

That’s a lot of ambitions. After one voter observed that Harris was never elected to be the Democrat nominee but just magically became such when “President Biden was pushed aside,” the vice president naturally drove home the point for the umpteenth time that Donald Trump is the “unprecedented” threat to democracy. Funny she brought up Trump and democracy because the former president actually made an apropos comment about the topic earlier the same day, telling the Economic Club of Detroit: “Our biggest threat to democracy is stupid people.”

He’s onto something. Stupid people — people who know nothing of civic responsibility or common sense — do threaten the fabric of our self-government, especially when they hold power, and Kamala Harris is the poster child. She’s frankly too stupid to be president. . .

Kamala Harris can’t even articulate why she deserves your vote. The entire town hall consisted of the VP dodging questions from concerned voters, talking instead about, you guessed it, more ambitions, an “opportunity economy,” and taking down “transnational crime organizations.” The best she can offer is that she’s a woman of color and not Donald Trump or Joe Biden — as she answered to the softest of softball questions Stephen Colbert and the shrews of “The View” asked her this week — though she also can’t think of anything she would’ve done differently than Joe these past four years.

Harris’ responses in all her recent appearances, when she wasn’t talking like she was auditioning for “Cool Runnings,” are just the latest reminders that the second-in-command diversity hire is utterly mindless. Yes, every single one of her policy proposals is an unmitigated disaster. Yes, the country has gone down the toilet under her leadership, from foreign policy to the border invasion to the economy to the military. And yes, she’s failed — and slept — her way to the top. But on the most basic and obvious level, the Kamala ~phenomenon~ is too stupid for words. (Read more from “Kamala Harris Is Too Stupid To Be President” HERE)

Harris Is Only Running For President Because It Became Impossible To Hide Biden’s Decline

In her appearance on “The View” this week, Vice President Kamala Harris was asked if she would have done anything differently than President Joe Biden over the past four years. She answered, incredibly, “There is not a thing that comes to mind.”

Commentators were quick to note how disastrous an answer it was given Harris’ previous efforts to distinguish herself from Biden, whose tenure in office is widely seen as a failure. The problem for Harris of course is that she’s the current vice president, which means she’s not the challenger but the de facto incumbent. Distinguishing herself from Biden was always going to be difficult. What’s more, the Biden White House has gone out of its way to emphasize how integral Harris has been to the administration. Biden himself said last week, she has been “a major player in everything we’ve done.”

Previous attempts by Harris to distance herself from Biden, like choosing “A New Way Forward” as her campaign slogan, or talking about what she’ll do on “day one in office,” have come off as fake and half-hearted. They have also lacked credibility. As former President Donald Trump noted in the debate last month, she’s been in office nearly four years. Why hasn’t she done any of the things she says she’ll do if she wins the presidency?

But Harris’ answer on “The View” also did something else, which might be even worse for her electoral prospects than endorsing all of Biden’s decisions. She inadvertently exposed the uncomfortable truth at the heart of her campaign, which Harris and the corporate media desperately don’t want to talk about.

And the truth is this: she’s only running for president because it became impossible to hide Biden’s cognitive decline. (Read more from “Harris Is Only Running For President Because It Became Impossible To Hide Biden’s Decline” HERE)

AI Has Shown Us the Face of Christ. Will It Bring More to the Faith?

. . .Christianity isn’t merely a story that’s been retold for millennia; it is the story. It’s the one that never grows old, never fades with the times.

Sometimes, the new chapters of this story come in the most unexpected ways. A recent example is how the Shroud of Turin — a centuries-old relic long thought to be a medieval hoax — found its way back into the public conversation. . .

AI gave us the face of the Lord

But it’s not just relics like the Shroud that are undergoing a digital transformation. Technology is now playing a central role in how we encounter faith.

The face of Jesus — something people have dreamed of, imagined, and painted for millennia — has been recreated by artificial intelligence. Using data from the Shroud and other sources, AI systems have attempted to render what may be the most accurate depiction of Christ’s face.

It’s a face that’s both familiar and new. The long hair, the beard, the haunting eyes — eyes that seem to look into not just the world but each of us, individually, deeply. (Read more from “AI Has Shown Us the Face of Christ. Will It Bring More to the Faith?” HERE)

Kamala Harris Doesn’t Care About White People

In the long-ago of 2005, just days after Hurricane Katrina made landfall near New Orleans, a young Kanye West blurted out on live television during a fundraising drive with comedian Mike Meyers that “George Bush doesn’t care about black people.”

It was perhaps an early sign of West’s mental instability, but at the time it ended up defining the media narrative about Katrina and Bush, who was lambasted by the media for being indifferent to the fate of New Orleans because it was mostly poor black people who had been killed or displaced by the storm.

It didn’t matter that the main cause of the problems in New Orleans during and immediately after Katrina — lack of evacuation, widespread looting, poor emergency response and coordination — was corruption at the local and state level, not incompetence at FEMA. (New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin would later be indicted and convicted in federal court on multiple corruption charges.)

But in the moment that didn’t matter. The national news media unfairly blamed President Bush. Every major media outlet ran a now-infamous photo of him looking down on hurricane-ravaged New Orleans from the window of Air Force One, cementing the narrative that the president was detached and indifferent to events on the ground.

It would come to be known as Bush’s “Katrina moment,” and it heralded the effective end of his administration. Democrats sailed to a massive victory in the 2006 midterms, campaigning on Bush’s allegedly flat-footed Katrina response and the unpopular war in Iraq, rendering the president impotent for his last two years in office. Corrupt ‘Reporters’ Like Olivia Nuzzi Are Destroying Democracy

Over this past weekend, the front page of New York Magazine’s website advertised: “Yes, the system is rigged.” They should know — their reporters are the ones doing the rigging.

The news that Olivia Nuzzi, a New York Mag reporter, was placed on leave for an inappropriate relationship goes far beyond a Beltway romance. It speaks to how the media — even as they claim to want to “stand up for democracy” — corruptly influence the political process, thereby undermining the democratic values they purport to support. . .

On Thursday, New York Magazine issued a statement announcing that Nuzzi had been placed on leave because she “acknowledged to the magazine’s editors that she had engaged in a personal relationship with a former subject relevant to the 2024 campaign while she was reporting on the campaign, a violation of the magazine’s standards around conflicts of interest and disclosures. Had the magazine been aware of this relationship, she would not have continued to cover the presidential campaign.”

Nuzzi also issued her own statement claiming that “the relationship was never physical but should have been disclosed to prevent the appearance of a conflict. I deeply regret not doing so immediately and apologize to those I’ve disappointed, especially my colleagues at New York.”

Other reporting indicates that the “inappropriate relationship” was with Robert F. Kennedy Jr., after a magazine profile on him that she wrote, which ran last November. Nuzzi told The New York Times that the relationship lasted from last December through last month. (Read more from “Corrupt ‘Reporters’ Like Olivia Nuzzi Are Destroying Democracy” HERE)

How Democrats Are Grooming Assassins to Take out Trump

There have been many calls for lowering the temperature between the first assassination attempt against Donald Trump on July 13, 2024, and the second on Sept. 15, 2024. Yet only two hours after last week’s attempt on Trump in Florida, House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries lambasted “extreme MAGA Republicans,” saying “We must stop them,” leaving listeners to guess to whom he referred and how “they” should be stopped.

It’s part of a constant pattern since Trump emerged on the political scene, starting with assassination fantasies with “the resistance,” continuing through the Russian collusion hoax, and aided by protective agencies’ refusal to secure conservative figures.

It’s not just the typically aggressive political rhetoric. Leftists have openly engaged in direct assassination fantasies for years. A conspicuous movement to dehumanize one particular person in America has continuously expanded since early 2016, when “the resistance” formed. Madonna infamously proclaimed, “I have thought an awful lot about blowing up the White House,” signaling the cultural zeitgeist controllers would wage a no-holds-barred siege against Trump.

Kathy Griffin followed in kind, publicizing an image of herself holding Trump’s dripping severed head. Shortly afterward, nightly showings of Shakespeare’s Julius Caesar in New York’s Central Park were capped by the assassination of an unmistakably Trumpian Caesar. Feelers for assassination were going out.

As of 2017, “the resistance” could claim, consequence-free, that Trump deserved anything he got, up to and including murder. The cultural left intended to not only marginalize Trump, but also to fully demonize and dehumanize him. The race was on to define Trump as the most dangerously destructive person in America. The sheer scale of the propaganda no doubt seized the imaginations of many with dreams of fame and glory. The seeds of assassination were thus widely sown. We All Saw Clearly on Sept. 11, 2001 a Battle Between Good and Evil That Still Rages

For those who remember the crisp fall morning of Sept. 11, 2001, how by 10:03 a.m. the day turned to Hell, and how we watched the brutal, televised murders of 2,977 people, the atrocities are seared into our memories. . .

Once again, we are in a battle too many Americans do not know we are involved in. Our culture has changed as Americans turn away from God.

We are in the midst of a loneliness epidemic according to a report released last year by the surgeon general. It said that in 1999, 70 percent of Americans said they belonged to a church. In 2020, only 47 percent of Americans said they belonged to a church, synagogue, or mosque.

The victims of Sept. 11, 2001, would not recognize America today. They died before Facebook was invented; before everyone had a smartphone in his pocket; before legalized same-sex marriages; and before attempts to normalize children taking life-altering hormones in fruitless attempts to change their unchangeable gender.

They missed Covid; the summer of riots; the rise of lawless homeless encampments; and the Department of Justice prosecuting and imprisoning people for the constitutionally protected activities of assembling and speaking their mind. After 23 Years, We Still Need to Remember the Lessons of 9/11

It’s been 23 years since America watched in horror as the Twin Towers fell on live TV.

Nineteen al Qaeda terrorists, hailing from Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Egypt and Lebanon, hijacked four planes and killed 2,977 of us, shaking the nation to its core. . .

Heroes stood up: Todd Beamer and his seatmates on Flight 93; firefighter Stephen Siller and his Brooklyn-Battery Tunnel run; Morgan Stanley’s visionary Rick Rescorla, and so very many more … some whose names we’ll never know. . .

Yet America, or at least its leaders, risks falling back into the complacency that led to the atrocity we swore to “never forget.” . . .

In the Middle East, the White House continues to appease terror-funding Iran as it seeks regional dominance, gets ever closer to gaining nukes, bolsters our enemies and uses its proxies to attack our military, slam Red Sea shipping and assault Israel from multiple directions.
