New Law Will No Longer Allow Babies Born During Botched Abortions to Be Killed

The majority of debate between pro-lifers and abortion advocates has centered around the 20-week abortion ban that failed in the Senate Monday. Another important bill, however, recently passed the U.S. House and would prevent babies who’ve been born after botched abortions from being murdered shortly thereafter.

The U.S. House approved the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act in January, and it requires health care practitioners to give the same care to a child born alive after a botched abortion as they would provide to any other child birthed at the same gestational age.

They must also ensure that babies born after botched abortions are immediately admitted to a hospital.

Any health care individual who violates the provisions of the bill — H. R. 37 — will face fines and up to five years in prison.

The mother of a child who is aborted after being born cannot be prosecuted under the bill. She can, however, sue for damages against an individual who kills a living child who’s just been born.

“I survived my birth mother’s saline infusion abortion 40 years ago at St. Luke’s Hospital in Sioux City, Iowa,” Melissa Ohden told the Daily Signal, explaining her strong support of the bill which will protect future babies like her. She said that although the abortion doctor demanded that the nurse leave her there to die, the on-duty nurse made the decision to rush Ohden to the NICU where her life was saved.

“Planned Parenthood likes to say Born Alive legislation is anti-abortion. In reality, it doesn’t even address abortion and, instead, focuses on halting infanticide,” March for Life VP of Government Affairs, Tom McClusky, told The Daily Caller News Foundation Friday. “If Democrats in either chamber ever want to regain the majority they first will have to separate themselves from their pro-death comrades such as Planned Parenthood, who insist they buck the consensus and vote for infanticide.”

Nevada’s Democratic representatives, Dina Titus, Jacky Rosen and Ruben Kihuen, all voted against the bill but did not offer an explanation for their votes. None of the representatives responded to TheDCNF’s request for comment.

The bill comes after a 2016 congressional investigation found evidence and continues to investigate clinics illegally performing partial-birth and post-birth abortions, as well as the illegal sale of body parts for profit. The investigation included testimony from an employee who also posited that an abortionist would perform roughly 40 abortions on unborn babies past 20 weeks gestation during a normal week according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal.

Abortion methods included smashing unborn baby’s necks with forceps, cutting the neck with scissors, twisting the head until snaps, crushing the “soft spot” on the baby’s skull, or pushing on the infant’s abdomen or throat until it dies, the Review-Journal reported.

The bill follows the activities of abortionists like Kermit Gosnell, who was sentenced to life in prison after authorities discovered that he’d been aborting babies after they’d been born.

Gosnell, who operated the Women’s Medical Society in West Philadelphia starting in 1979, wasn’t investigated until February 2010 when the FBI and the Pennsylvania Department of Health raided his clinic on drug charges.

His license was suspended shortly thereafter and his trial began in March 2013, according to the Washington Post.

Gosnell aborted babies after the legal limit of 24 weeks gestation in what became known as the “House of Horrors.”

He was also responsible for the death of 41-year-old Karnamaya Mongar who died of a drug overdose during her abortion. The jury found Gosnell guilty on three of four charges of murder of babies born in his clinic as well as guilty of involuntary manslaughter.

The Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act will head next to the Senate for a vote before it can become law, and will ensure that no more doctors like Gosnell will be able to fly under the radar while committing egregious acts against newborn babies.

U.S. Senator’s Passionate Pro-Life Speech Has Already Garnered 4.3 Million Views

An emotional speech made by Oklahoma Republican Sen. James Lankford about protecting the life of the unborn has received over 4 million views and nearly 100,000 shares on Facebook.

Though posted recently by the pro-life group Live Action, Lankford’s remarks from the Senate floor were made in response to the revelation that Planned Parenthood was allegedly selling aborted babies’ body parts.

The senator contrasted the concern that many have for the treatment of animals, even lab animals, versus the lack of caring for humans, who only need more time to become adults like those listening to his voice.

Lankford recalled seeing footage of animal rights activists holding signs outside of a research facility that read, “It’s not science, it’s violence.”

“Planned Parenthood is using children that are aborted and sending the bodies of those aborted children to research facilities, sometimes for sale, different body parts, to be used in research,” he said.

“These are not mice, these are not lab rats, these are children. Children who have gone through the process of any horrific abortion,” Lankford stated.

He then recounted being in a meeting earlier that day where people spoke passionately about saving Orca whales and stopping horses from being slaughtered.

“But in the middle of all that conversation happening today, there were children still being aborted, with an instrument reaching into a mother, tearing apart a child, but carefully protecting certain organs because those organs would be valuable to sell,” Lankford said.

The Oklahoman went on to discuss how different parts of aborted babies are preserved because they have value to researchers.

“I would tell you,” said Lankford as his voice began to crack, “that child has value. And that every single adult that can hear me right now was once 20 weeks old in the womb. And we can look at each other and understand the difference between that child in the womb and any of us now is time.”

“It doesn’t bring me comfort to know one child is torn apart so maybe they can do research on the child’s organs, so that in some future moment help a different child,” he concluded.

Last week, Lankford spoke in support of the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act, which would have essentially banned abortions past 20 weeks.

The bill passed the House, but fell short in the Senate by a vote of 51-46, with Republican Sens. Lisa Murkowski of Alaska and Susan Collins of Maine joining with Democrats in opposition to the measure.

“There are numerous examples of in-utero surgery of unborn children at 5 months of pregnancy & younger that receive anesthesia… because #TheyFeelPain,” Lankford tweeted.

“Pain-Capable bill isn’t about religion, gov’t control, or anything else,” he added. “This is about humane treatment & #humanrights.” (For more from the author of “U.S. Senator’s Passionate Pro-Life Speech Has Already Garnered 4.3 Million Views” please click HERE)

Planned Parenthood President: Christians Should Be Forced to Perform Abortions

By Life Site News. is on her way out the door as the CEO of the Planned Parenthood abortion business. But before leaving she is offering one final shot at pro-life medical professionals.

Richards, in a fundraising email to a pro abortion members of Planned Parenthood, essentially says that Christians should be forced to perform abortions. She aggressively criticizes the new conscience protections President Donald Trump has put in place to protect the civil rights of Americans who are medical workers who do not want to be forced to perform or assist in abortions.

As LifeNews reported, Trump launched a new division within the Department of Health and Human Services to protect nurses and doctors who don’t want to perform abortions. The division will protect anyone who has a “moral objection” to involvement in an abortion because it kills an unborn child before birth.

“The Conscience and Religious Freedom Division has been established to restore federal enforcement of our nation’s laws that protect the fundamental and unalienable rights of conscience and religious freedom,” HHS Acting Secretary Eric Hargan said upon announcement. “The Conscience and Religious Freedom Division has been established to restore federal enforcement of our nation’s laws that protect the fundamental and unalienable rights of conscience and religious freedom.” (Read more from “Planned Parenthood President: Christians Should Be Forced to Perform Abortions” HERE)

Cecile Richards Announces Resignation from Planned Parenthood

By Christian News. Planned Parenthood President Cecile Richards announced on Friday that she is resigning from her position with the abortion and contraception giant, but in no way recanted her work with the organization.

Rather, Richards praised Planned Parenthood and spoke glowingly about the 12 years that she had spent leading the sexually-centered business . . .

The Center for Medical Progress (CMP), which has been one of the most prominent opponents of Planned Parenthood—and exposed the organization’s practice of transferring the body parts of aborted babies to for-profit biomedical companies—opined that Richards’ announcement could signal problems within the organization.

“After CMP’s revealing undercover videos of Planned Parenthood’s top abortion doctors and the damning findings of multiple Congressional probes, Richards’ departure shows that the old strategy is no longer working as Planned Parenthood faces federal criminal investigation for selling aborted baby hearts, lungs, livers, and brains,” said director David Daleiden. “Planned Parenthood’s new leadership should commit to full transparency with the Department of Justice and with the public, and to ending this taxpayer-funded criminal abortion enterprise once and for all.” (Read more from “Cecile Richards Announces Resignation from Planned Parenthood” HERE)

Democrats Defeat Pro-Life Senate Bill Banning Late-Term Abortions After 20 Weeks

Senate Democrats today blocked a vote on a pro-life Senate bill to ban late-term abortions — a bill that would save as many as 18,000 unborn babies form abortions each and every year.

The Senate voted today on whether to stop the Democrats’ filibuster of the Pain Capable Unborn Child Protection Act, legislation that would ban abortions after 20 weeks — as neither Congress nor state legislatures can vote to ban all abortions under Roe v. Wade. The bill highlights how unborn babies feel intense pain when they are killed in abortions. Fifty-one senators (forty-eight Republicans and three Democrats) voted to take the bill up for debate, but 60 votes were required.

Unfortunately, because Republicans don’t have 60 votes in the chamber to overcome the filibuster, Democrats successfully stopped the bill. The vote came after the White House indicated President Donald Trump would sign the bill into law.

Leading pro-life advocates blasted Democrats for preventing passage of the late-term abortion ban.

“Americans should be outraged that pro-abortion Senate Democrats refuse to protect unborn babies who can feel pain. An overwhelming majority of Americans support this bill, including 56% of Democrats and 56% of those who identify as ‘pro-choice’,” said Carol Tobias, president of National Right to Life. Pro-Trump Singer Wears Pro-Life Dress at Grammy Awards

Hollywood award shows have been popular platforms for political statements lately, but the messages tend to skew toward the left.

Tonight at the Grammy Awards, though, American singer Joy Villa made a very conservative statement on the red carpet.

The 31-year-old, who has released a handful of singles since 2011, wore her [pro-life] views on her sleeve — or, we should say, her dress.

Villa turned up on the red carpet on Sunday evening in a customized white gown, originally by Pronovias. On the full skirt, she hand-painted the image of a [baby] radiating colors of the rainbow.

She accessorized with a tiara — she likes to go by Princess Joy Villa — and a small white bag that spelled out her message, in case anyone missed it. (Read more from “Pro-Trump Singer Wears Pro-Life Dress at Grammy Awards” HERE)

Senate to Vote on Abortion Ban After 20 Weeks

The U.S. Senate will soon vote on a pro-life Senate bill to ban late-term abortions — a bill that would save as many as 18,000 unborn babies form abortions each and every year.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) informed members of the Senate lat Thursday that the Senate will vote on the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act next week. During his remarks, McConnell lamented how the United States is one of just a handful of nations worldwide that allow babies to be killed in late-term abortions.

“Last week, Americans from all across the country—including many from Kentucky—came here to Washington to speak up for unborn children whom our legal system has denied the right to life. Now, Congress has an opportunity to take a step forward,” said.

“The United States is currently one of just seven countries – including China and North Korea – that permits elective abortion after 20 weeks. It is time we begin to remedy this obvious and tragic moral wrong. This long-overdue legislation would do just that,” the Senate Republican leader added. “I am pleased to have filed cloture on this bill to protect unborn children who are capable of feeling pain. I am proud to co-sponsor it, along with many of my colleagues. And I look forward to voting for it early next week.”

The House has already approved the legislation but Democrats are expected to filibuster the bill in the Senate, requiring it to get 60 votes to move forward. (Read more from “Senate to Vote on Abortion Ban After 20 Weeks” HERE)

Hollywood Star: ‘Abortion Is the Definition of Evil’

Not all Hollywood actors speak social justice nonsense while hypocritically wearing Planned Parenthood buttons on their multi-thousand dollar dresses at awards shows. Actor Kevin Sorbo (“Hercules”, “God’s Not Dead”) has his values in the right order.

In an editorial for CNS News, Kevin Sorbo and his wife, Sam, unequivocally denounced abortion as an “evil” that spreads through fake buzzwords like “empowerment.” . . .

“In some cases, disturbing the nest of a sea turtle and stealing its eggs is a crime punishable by years in prison and tremendous fines, but we have an entire industry in this nation devoted to the murder of unborn human beings,” says the piece . . .

“This is the new civil rights cause for our country,” the piece continues. “Barely a century after our grave and costly war against slavery, against depriving some human beings of their dignity and based solely on their skin color, we codified into law the right of the citizen to kill her progeny, based solely on its size and location, while unwittingly depriving herself of love that is pure and enduring.” . . .

“This is the definition of evil, pure and simple,” the piece concludes. (Read more from “Hollywood Star: ‘Abortion Is the Definition of Evil'” HERE)

Sick: Activist Uses Photo of Disabled Girl to Promote Eugenic Abortions. The Girl’s Mother Fights Back.

An advocate for children with disabilities and complex medical needs fought back when a left-wing activist used her disabled daughter’s photo to promote eugenic abortions.

Natalie Weaver, who co-founded Advocates for Medically Fragile Kids NC, expressed outrage over the vile post featuring her 9-year-old daughter Sophia, and urged Twitter to remove it from their site. Sophia was born with Rhett syndrome and has a facial deformity.

The account using Sophia’s photo to promote abortion, @OBSIDIANSMOAK, has since been suspended.

“It is ok to think that every child matters however a lot of them do not hence the amnio test which should be a mandatory test and if it proves negative and the woman does not want to abort then all bills accrued after that is on her and the father,” said the activist’s post . . .

@TwitterSupport Just received an email that Twitter doesn’t think a person using my child’s image as the poster child to ABORT & to weed out all the “defectives” in utero is a violation. Why? Bc they won’t recognize hate toward ppl w/ disabilities in their regulations/reports. pic.twitter.com/PQLLEyQhPy

— Natalie Weaver (@Nataliew1020) January 22, 2018

Later in the day, Twitter suspended the abortion activist’s account.

Satanic Temple Fights Abortion Restrictions, on ‘Religious Grounds’

The Missouri Supreme Court is considering whether some of the state’s abortion restrictions violate the religious beliefs of a woman who is part of the Satanic Temple.

An attorney for the woman made the unusual argument Tuesday as he asked Missouri’s highest court to block the state’s mandatory three-day waiting period for abortions and requirements that doctors providing abortions give women a booklet that says “the life of each human being begins at conception,” offer them an ultrasound and give them an opportunity to hear the fetal heartbeat.

The woman traveled from southeastern Missouri to St. Louis for an abortion at a Planned Parenthood clinic in 2015. The woman, whose name is not revealed in court documents, did eventually obtain an abortion. But in a letter to her doctors that was included in court documents, she wrote that some of the state’s restrictions on abortion conflict with her beliefs to follow scientific understanding of the world.

The Satanic Temple, based in Salem, Mass., doesn’t believe in a literal Satan but sees the biblical Satan as a metaphor for rebellion against tyranny. The group has waged religious battles around the U.S. in recent years, including pushing unsuccessfully to install a statute of the goat-headed idol Baphomet outside the Arkansas and Oklahoma state capitols as counterpoints to Ten Commandments monuments. Members also proposed “After School Satan Clubs” in elementary schools from Oregon to Georgia where evangelical Christian “Good News Clubs” are operating.

James MacNaughton, an attorney for the Satanic Temple member suing over Missouri’s abortion restrictions, told the state Supreme Court that the government “should not be in the business of preaching.” (Read more from “Satanic Temple Fights Abortion Restrictions, on ‘Religious Grounds'” HERE)

New Scientific Breakthroughs Are Having a Huge Impact on the Abortion Debate

. . .Activists like McGuire believe it makes perfect sense to be pro-science and pro-life. While she opposes abortion on moral grounds, she believes studies of fetal development, improved medical techniques, and other advances anchor the movement’s arguments in scientific fact. “The pro-life message has been, for the last 40-something years, that the fetus … is a life, and it is a human life worthy of all the rights the rest of us have,” she said. “That’s been more of an abstract concept until the last decade or so.” But, she added, “when you’re seeing a baby sucking its thumb at 18 weeks, smiling, clapping,” it becomes “harder to square the idea that that 20-week-old, that unborn baby or fetus, is discardable.”

Scientific progress is remaking the debate around abortion. When the U.S. Supreme Court decided Roe v. Wade, the case that led the way to legal abortion, it pegged most fetuses’ chance of viable life outside the womb at 28 weeks; after that point, it ruled, states could reasonably restrict women’s access to the procedure. Now, with new medical techniques, doctors are debating whether that threshold should be closer to 22 weeks. Like McGuire, today’s prospective moms and dads can learn more about their baby earlier into a pregnancy than their parents or grandparents. And like McGuire, when they see their fetus on an ultrasound, they may see humanizing qualities like smiles or claps, even if most scientists see random muscle movements.

These advances fundamentally shift the moral intuition around abortion. New technology makes it easier to apprehend the humanity of a growing child and imagine a fetus as a creature with moral status. Over the last several decades, pro-life leaders have increasingly recognized this and rallied the power of scientific evidence to promote their cause. They have built new institutions to produce, track, and distribute scientifically crafted information on abortion. They hungrily follow new research in embryology. They celebrate progress in neonatology as a means to save young lives. New science is “instilling a sense of awe that we never really had before at any point in human history,” McGuire said. “We didn’t know any of this.”

In many ways, this represents a dramatic reversal; pro-choice activists have long claimed science for their own side. The Guttmacher Institute, a research and advocacy organization that defends abortion and reproductive rights, has exercised a near-monopoly over the data of abortion, serving as a source for supporters and opponents alike. And the pro-choice movement’s rhetoric has matched its resources: Its proponents often describe themselves as the sole defenders of women’s welfare and scientific consensus. The idea that life begins at conception “goes against legal precedent, science, and public opinion,” said Ilyse Hogue, the president of the abortion-advocacy group NARAL Pro-Choice America, in a recent op-ed for CNBC. Members of the pro-life movement are “not really anti-abortion,” she wrote in another piece. “They are against [a] world where women can contribute equally and chart our own destiny in ways our grandmothers never thought possible.” (Read more from “New Scientific Breakthroughs Are Having a Huge Impact on the Abortion Debate” HERE)
