How Adam Schiff Buried Testimony Helpful to Trump

Rep. Adam Schiff, D-Calif., who helped lead House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s impeachment effort, reportedly withheld evidence beneficial to President Trump from the White House and the American public in the Russia-collusion investigation.

Investigative reporter John Solomon at Just the News reported Schiff declared absolute ownership of the transcripts of witness testimony.

Schiff ordered in a March 26, 2019, letter to then-Director of National Intelligence Dan Coats: “Under no circumstances shall ODNI, or any other element of the Intelligence Community (IC), share any HPSCI (House Permanent Select Committee) transcripts with the White House, President Trump or any persons associated with the White House or the President.” . . .

However, when the Democrats won the House majority, Schiff took his unilateral action, writing to Coats.

In the letter, he ordered “that the witness transcripts — some of which contained exculpatory evidence for President Trump’s team — not be shared with Trump or White House lawyers even if the declassification process required such sharing,” Solomon reported. Schiff’s Dereliction of Duty Regarding Communist China

. . .Since the start of Donald Trump’s presidency, Schiff has been at the forefront of investigating the administration and the president with an avidity that approaches, even surpasses—if that is possible—monomania.

In doing so, he has been a font of disinformation that might make the KGB blush. First was the bogus Russia probe and the lies surrounding the FISA court, then came the endless impeachment over an ambiguous phone call and, as of last week, his proposal for a “9/11”-style commission to study the U.S. response to the virus, no doubt with the president in the crosshairs.

But, as usual, Schiff is barking up the wrong TDS tree, this time to the extent of dereliction of his duty as chairman of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence (HPSCI).

The investigation by his committee that should be undertaken is the role of China—specifically the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), because this pandemic wasn’t the work or fault of the Chinese people—in deliberately deceiving the world about the provenance and extent of the novel coronavirus. . .

What interests me, however, is why Schiff and his colleagues in the Democratic Party and the media choose to focus their attention away from this monumental threat and, as if sublimating in the traditional Freudian sense, onto Trump. Not Forgotten: Devin Nunes Exploring ‘Legal Remedies’ After Adam Schiff Released Phone Records

Rep. Devin Nunes said he is exploring “all” of his legal options in response to House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff subpoenaing and releasing his phone records during the recent Ukraine-related impeachment investigation.

The California Republican, who is the ranking member on the intelligence panel, gave an update to Larry O’Connor on the Examining Politics podcast last week.

“We’re going to look at all the legal remedies that we can take,” Nunes said, adding that the situation is “complicated” because of the “corrupt Democratic Congress” and because “the fake news media make up and build narratives.”

The phone call logs, subpoenaed from AT&T and Verizon, appear in a 658-page December report from House Democrats, including records of some phone calls by Nunes, presidential lawyers Rudy Giuliani and Jay Sekulow, journalist John Solomon, Fox News host Sean Hannity, indicted Giuliani associate Lev Parnas, and others. . .

“I’m in California, so for sure, state law, you cannot release somebody’s phone records,” Nunes said. “So, for sure, that right has been violated. But, we also have to look at the constitutional aspects of this, and do all the members of Congress have a right to privacy, and can just one member, because he doesn’t like someone and he’s a political opponent of someone, can that member just subpoena records and then release just to embarrass or to create a distraction or to build whatever fantasy-land narrative that they continue to build?” (Read more from “Not Forgotten: Devin Nunes Exploring ‘Legal Remedies’ After Adam Schiff Released Phone Records” HERE)

Schiff Claims ‘Immunity’ in Bid to Keep Impeachment Phone Subpoenas Secret

The House Intelligence Committee and its chairman Adam Schiff invoked “sovereign immunity” in a motion to dismiss a Judicial Watch lawsuit seeking to obtain controversial phone records subpoenas issued during the Trump impeachment inquiry.

The committee’s subpoenas of phone records ultimately led to the publication of multiple Americans’ phone records, including those of reporter John Solomon, California Rep. Devin Nunes, the president’s lawyer Rudy Giuliani and others. . .

“First, the doctrine of sovereign immunity deprives the Court of jurisdiction over the House Defendants, and no express and unequivocal waiver exists,” the argument says. “Second, given that the records sought by Plaintiff involve matters pursued and obtained by the House Defendants as part of the House-authorized impeachment inquiry, they are absolutely protected by the Speech or Debate Clause.” (Read more from “Schiff Claims ‘Immunity’ in Bid to Keep Impeachment Phone Subpoenas Secret” HERE)

Trump Jr. ‘Thanks’ Adam Schiff for ‘Unearthing Who All Needed to Be Fired’ From Trump Administration

Donald Trump Jr. expressed mocking gratitude toward House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) on Friday, for his assistance in rooting out “who all needed to be fired” from his father’s administration through the congressman’s efforts leading House Democrats’ failed impeachment of President Donald Trump.

The younger Trump sent his message on Twitter shortly after the news broke that the Trump administration removed two employees who testified during the lower chamber’s impeachment probe over President Trump’s interactions with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenski. . .

Trump Jr. sent out the tweet as news was still circulating that impeachment witnesses Lt. Col. Alexander Vindman and U.S. Ambassador to the European Union Gordon Sondland had both been relieved of their duties following reports that President Trump was planning to retaliate against those who testified after being subpoenaed by House Democrats at the behest of Schiff. . .

Ever since President Trump won the 2016 election, he has been threatened with impeachment by Democratic members of Congress. On Thursday, the president gave a speech in reaction to his acquittal, where he talked about the toll the impeachment took on his family.

“I want to apologize to my family for having them have to go through a phony, rotten deal by some very evil and sick people,” President Trump said, before hugging his daughter, Ivanka, and wife, Melania. The president added, “So, I just want to thank my family for sticking through it. This was not part of the deal.” (Read more from “Trump Jr ‘Thanks’ Adam Schiff for ‘Unearthing Who All Needed to Be Fired’ From Trump Administration” HERE)

Democrats Accuse President Trump of ‘Threatening’ Adam Schiff; Republican Senator: Trump’s Schiff Tweet Not a ‘Death Threat’

By The Blaze. House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff (D-Calif.), the House Democrat leading the impeachment charge against President Donald Trump, accused the president on Sunday of threatening him.

Speaking with NBC host Chuck Todd on “Meet the Press,” Schiff called Trump “vindictive,” and charged that one of Trump’s recent tweets constitutes a personal threat.

“What may be personal, though, and I think I have to be very candid about this, is I made the argument that it’s going to require moral courage to stand up to this president,” Schiff said. “I don’t think there’s any doubt about it. And if you think there is, look at the president’s tweets about me today saying that I should ‘pay a price.'”

Todd responded, “Do you take that as a threat?”

“I think it’s intended to be,” Schiff replied.

Republican Senator: Trump’s Schiff Tweet Not a ‘Death Threat’

By The Hill. Sen. James Lankford (R-Okla.) said Sunday that a tweet from President Trump saying Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) “has not paid the price” for “what he has done” to the U.S. was not “a death threat.”

The senator defended the president on CNN’s “State of the Union” when host Jake Tapper asked him about Trump’s tweet earlier Sunday morning targeting Schiff.

“I don’t think it’s a death threat. I don’t think he’s encouraging a death threat,” Lankford said.

Lankford also called Trump’s tweet “political,” saying it was “no different than” when Schiff and Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) say “folks will be paying a price at the ballot box” or in the future.

When Tapper asked if he was “offended” by the president’s tweet, Lankford responded that he is “offended only because Adam Schiff believes that the only reason that we act the way that we do is because the president’s going to put our head on a pike.” (Read more from “Republican Senator: Trump’s Schiff Tweet Not a ‘Death Threat'” HERE)

Did Adam Schiff Hide ‘Potentially Exculpatory’ Evidence From Trump’s Lawyers?

By The Blaze. According to President Donald Trump’s legal team, Democrats are concealing the testimony of a major witness the House questioned during its investigation into the Ukraine matter.

Alex Swoyer and S.A. Miller at the Washington Times reported that House Democrats are refusing to disclose the testimony of Michael Atkinson, the intelligence agency inspector general with firsthand knowledge of the origins of the whistleblower complaint that resulted in Trump’s impeachment. . .

At least one Republican who was present during Atkinson’s testimony says the reason why Democrats are not sharing the information is because it does not advance House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff’s impeachment case against the president.

“The reason it hasn’t been released is it’s not helpful to Adam Schiff. It is not helpful to the whistleblower,” Rep. John Ratcliffe (R-TX) said. “It raises credibility issues about both of them.”

The Times also noted that the evidence may be “potentially exculpatory” for the president. However, members of the House Intelligence Committee who conducted the interview are not allowed to disclose the details of the discussion, as it could reveal potentially sensitive intelligence information. Schiff: ‘No Exoneration’ for Trump Without Witnesses at Senate Trial

By NBC News. House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff, the lead Democratic impeachment manager, warned Sunday that a Senate trial without additional witnesses won’t translate to an exoneration of President Donald Trump, who is charged with abusing his office for political gain.

Speaking two days after the House impeachment managers wrapped up their opening arguments, and the day after Trump’s legal team began their defense arguments, Schiff accused the president’s team of trying to convince senators “you don’t need a fair trial” that calls witnesses who had first-hand knowledge of the accusations against the president.

“If they are successful in depriving the country of a fair trial, there is no exoneration,” Schiff said during an exclusive interview on NBC’s “Meet the Press.”

“Americans will recognize that the country did not get what the founders intended.”

Schiff and his fellow House Democratic impeachment managers finished up their testimony on Friday before President Trump’s legal team began their defense. (Read more from “Schiff: ‘No Exoneration’ for Trump Without Witnesses at Senate Trial” HERE)

GOP Rep.: Adam Schiff Communication With Ukraine Whistleblower Is the ‘Only Cover-Up’

By Washington Examiner. Republican North Carolina Rep. Mark Meadows claimed on Thursday that House impeachment manager Adam Schiff and his fellow Democrats orchestrated the “only cover-up” in the impeachment process.

Democrats have been accusing Republicans of staging a “cover-up” over the last week, and Rep. Jerry Nadler went so far as to accuse them of that on the Senate floor.

“I see a lot of senators voting for a cover-up, voting to deny witnesses, an absolutely indefensible vote, obviously a treacherous vote,” Nadler said late Wednesday night.

“The House impeachment managers are actually not only making false statements, but they’re intentionally misleading the American people,” Meadows told Fox News.

“We are going to continue to hear allegations of ‘cover-up.’ The only ‘cover-up’ that I’ve seen is actually Adam Schiff and his team’s cover-up on their coordination with the whistleblower.” (Read more from “GOP Rep.: Adam Schiff Communication With Ukraine Whistleblower Is the ‘Only Cover-Up'” HERE)

Gregg Jarrett: Under Dems’ Trump Impeachment Justification, Lincoln Would’ve Been Impeached

By Fox News. If Rep. Adam Schiff was around in 1864, he would have orchestrated the impeachment of President Abraham Lincoln.

House Intelligence Committee Chairman Schiff, D-Calif., and his confederate impeachment managers demand that President Trump be removed from office because the president did something that might advantage him politically in the upcoming election. This, they claim was an impeachable “abuse of power.” . . .

History tells us that American presidents often take actions that advantage themselves politically. Indeed, one can argue that nearly all presidential decisions have some ancillary political calculation. It is the inherent nature of politics.

I recently read historian Doris Kearns Goodwin’s brilliant book “Team of Rivals.” In Chapter 24, she recounts how Republican President Lincoln utilized the powers of his office to ensure that Union soldiers in the field, who vigorously supported Lincoln’s reelection in 1864, were given the chance to cast their ballots for him. Most states permitted absentee ballots for troops. But the crucial state of Indiana did not.

So Lincoln wrote General William T. Sherman encouraging him to grant his men leave to return briefly to the northern state of Indiana. “Any thing you can safely do to let … soldiers, or any part of them, go home and vote at the State election, will be greatly in point,” wrote the president. Despite the risk that this might compromise his troop strength, Sherman consented. (Read more from “Gregg Jarrett: Under Dems’ Trump Impeachment Justification, Lincoln Would’ve Been Impeached” HERE)

Adam Schiff May Have Mischaracterized Evidence, Documents Show; Schiff Fumes at Trump Lawyers’ Allegations

By Politico. House Intelligence Chairman Adam Schiff appears to have mischaracterized a text message exchange between two players in the Ukraine saga, according to documents obtained by POLITICO — a possible error the GOP will likely criticize as another example of the Democrats’ rushed effort to impeach President Donald Trump.

The issue arose when Schiff (D-Calif.) sent a letter to House Judiciary Chairman Jerry Nadler (D-N.Y.) last week summarizing a trove of evidence from Lev Parnas, an indicted former associate of Trump’s personal attorney Rudy Giuliani. In one section of the letter, Schiff claims that Parnas “continued to try to arrange a meeting with President Zelensky,” citing a specific text message exchange where Parnas tells Giuliani: “trying to get us mr Z.” The remainder of the exchange — which was attached to Schiff’s letter — was redacted.

But an unredacted version of the exchange shows that several days later, Parnas sent Giuliani a word document that appears to show notes from an interview with Mykola Zlochevsky, the founder of Burisma, followed by a text message to Giuliani that states: “mr Z answers my brother.” That suggests Parnas was referring to Zlochevsky not Zelensky.

The word document contains a series of questions and answers, but doesn’t identify who is doing the asking or answering. Yet the questions center on the hiring practices at Burisma, while the responses include statements such as “we wanted to build Burisma as [an] international company” and “we also thought it would help in Ukraine to have strong international board figures,” which seems to point to Zlochevsky — not the Ukrainian president — as the respondent. Schiff, on Floor at Senate Impeachment Trial, Quietly Fumes at Trump Lawyers’ Allegations

By Fox News. Democratic Rep. Adam Schiff stared down President Trump’s lawyers on the Senate floor Tuesday as they accused him of lying to the American people and denying Trump due process during the impeachment investigation.

Trump lawyers Pat Cipollone and Jay Sekulow repeatedly ripped into Democrats, especially Schiff, on the first day of arguments in the Senate impeachment trial, as the House Intelligence Committee chairman — who is serving as the top Democratic impeachment manager — sat up straight in his chair and didn’t take his eyes off his accusers.

The lawyers invoked Schiff’s name over and over again, accusing him of hiding documents, conducting an unfair impeachment inquiry and fabricating the text of the July 25 phone call between Trump and the president of Ukraine.

Just as Schiff sat down from making a lengthy opening case for new witnesses and documents, Sekulow took over and with a booming voice accused Schiff of telling falsehoods and “put[ting] words into transcripts that did not exist.”

Schiff kept his eyes wide open and glued on Sekulow, possibly aghast that Trump’s lawyers were putting him on trial. (Read more from “Schiff, on Floor at Senate Impeachment Trial, Quietly Fumes at Trump Lawyers’ Allegations” HERE)

Heckling, Scuffles Break out at Schiff Appearance in Home District; He Still Refuses to Say He Was Wrong About FBI’s Surveillance of Trump Aide

By The Hill. Scuffles spurred by House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff’s (D-Calif.) appearance broke out at a town hall in California to commemorate recognizing the Armenian genocide.

The event in Glendale, Calif., organized by the Armenian National Committee of America (ANCA) was designed to praise lawmakers who voted to recognize the Armenian genocide in recent House and Senate resolutions, ANCA Western Region Chairwoman Nora Hovsepian told The Hill.

But when Schiff started to speak at the event, a man and a woman held up signs that said, “Don’t Impeach.” The two were asked to take down the signs, but they declined. About a dozen people then crowded the town hall, yelling, “Liar!” and taking off their jackets to display pro-Trump merchandise, the Los Angeles Times reported.

Some commotion broke out in the crowds for about 15 minutes as those attending the town hall asked for the yelling to stop.

Three Glendale police officers at the event helped regulate the episode, and no injuries were reported, police told the Times.

Schiff Refuses to Say He Was Wrong About FBI’s Surveillance of Trump Aide

By Daily Caller. Rep. Adam Schiff admitted Sunday that the FBI committed “serious abuses” of the foreign surveillance court process in order to spy on Carter Page, though the California Democrat stopped short of acknowledging he was wrong to defend the bureau and in his promotion of the infamous Steele dossier.

“Given what you know now … are you willing to admit that you were wrong in your defense of the FBI’s FISA process?” “Fox News Sunday” host Chris Wallace asked Schiff, the chairman of the House Intelligence Committee.

“I’m certainly willing to admit that the inspector general found serious abuses of FISA that I was unaware of,” said Schiff, referring to a Justice Department inspector general’s report that found the FBI made “significant” errors and omissions in applications for FISA warrants on Page.
