Ben Carson Doubles Down: LGBT Don’t Get ‘Extra Rights’

By Lisa Bourne. Dr. Ben Carson reiterated at his confirmation hearing Thursday that individuals identifying as LGBT shouldn’t get special rights.

All Americans deserve protection under the law, Carson said, but no one is entitled to “extra rights.”

Trump has appointed Carson as Housing and Urban Development (HUD) secretary.

Questioned during the hearing by Ohio Democrat Senator Sherrod Brown on whether he would enforce protections for LGBT Americans in public housing, Carson reconfirmed his previously stated belief.

“Of course, I would enforce all the laws of the land,” Carson said. “Of course, I think all Americans should be protected by the law.” (Read more from “Ben Carson Doubles Down: LGBT Don’t Get ‘Extra Rights'” HERE)

Report: Gay Rights Sympathizer Scaramucci Selected for Role as Key Adviser to Trump

By Peter LaBarbera. Anthony Scaramucci, who describes himself as a committed “gay rights activist,” has been picked for a top job advising President-elect Trump that is comparable to Valerie Jarrett’s preeminent role in the Obama White House, The Washington Post reported Friday.

As LifeSiteNews previous reported, Scaramucci told BBC in November: “I’m … a gay rights activist. … I’ve given to the [pro-“gay” Republican] American Unity PAC … to the Human Rights Campaign, I’m for … marriage equality.”

“We don’t want to be on the wrong side of history,” Scaramucci told the Huffington Post last April, explaining why his investment company, Skybridge Capital, gives to LGBT groups. Scaramucci, a 2012 Mitt Romney mega-donor, last year invited “transgender” activist Bruce (“Caitlyn) Jenner to speak at his annual SALT conference, which he describes as a “premier thought leadership and global investment forum” for fellow hedge-fund investors.

Human Rights Campaign (HRC) is the nation’s leading homosexual-bisexual-transgender activist PAC. The D.C.-based group endorsed Hillary Clinton and heavily criticized Trump during the presidential campaign. It generally supports Democrats with donations.

HRC bought the web domain “Dump Trump,” said he is “unfit for the presidency” and that he “spews hate toward LGBTQ people.” Meanwhile, The New York Times reports that Trump is the most pro-homosexual major Republican candidate in U.S. history. Ben Carson’s Prescription: Get People off Government Assistance

Retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson appeared before the U.S. Senate Committee on Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs Thursday to share his vision for the Department of Housing and Urban Development if the Senate confirms him as its next secretary.

In early December, President-elect Donald Trump announced Carson, who was a rival contender for the White House, as his pick to lead HUD.

Here are four highlights from Carson’s appearance:

1. On government assistance.

At the hearing, Republican Sen. Thom Tillis questioned Carson about his vision of best serving those who are on government programs.

“What is the best possible thing we can do for somebody who is on government assistance?” the North Carolina senator asked.

“Get them off of it,” Carson responded.

2. His childhood experience.

Carson said in a written statement that growing up in “inner city Detroit with a single mother who had a 3rd grade education” allowed him to understand housing insecurity.

Carson credited his mother for teaching him the importance of personal responsibility, and said that if confirmed as the next secretary of housing and urban development, he would do more than just advance its programs and funding.

3. Put medical clinics in neighborhoods.

Carson said that as part of his effort to enable and serve the beneficiaries of HUD programs, he plans to potentially put medical clinics in neighborhoods so that people don’t “rely on the emergency room where it costs five times more and where you don’t get kind of follow up that would prevent you from having stage five renal disease.”

4. Will work to benefit ‘all Americans.’

Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., asked Carson about his intentions to ensure that none of the money funneled through HUD would specifically benefit Trump’s real estate ties.

“My concern is whether or not, among the billions of dollars that you’ll be responsible for handing out in grants and loans, can you assure us that not one dollar will go to benefit either the president-elect or his family?” Warren asked.

Carson responded by saying that his work would be beneficial to all Americans, not just the select few.

“It will not be my intention to do anything to benefit any American, particularly,” Carson said. “It’s for all Americans, everything that we do.” (For more from the author of “Ben Carson’s Prescription: Get People off Government Assistance” please click HERE)

Wrong Kind of Black? Twitter Libs Can’t Handle Ben Carson’s HUD Appointment

News broke Monday morning that President-elect Donald Trump will nominate former presidential rival Dr. Ben Carson to be his Secretary of Housing and Urban Development.

And the immediate reaction from many on social media was incredulous skepticism.

A few people cited statements made by Carson spokesman Armstrong Williams indicating that Dr. Carson felt he was unqualified to hold a cabinet-level position. Williams told the Hill that “Dr. Carson feels he has no government experience, he’s never run a federal agency. The last thing he would want to do was take a position that could cripple the presidency.”

Carson clarified his position in a November 15 Facebook post, indicating that his decision not to seek a cabinet position “has nothing to do with the complexity of the job as is being reported by some news outlets.”

It seems the president-elect convinced Dr. Carson to change his mind. And now Carson is being mercilessly ridiculed.

But here’s the thing:

Yeah, that’s definitely not happening.

The tolerance mob out in full force to nuke this appointment today. As for Dr. Carson, he’s just “honored” to serve.

Carson Says He Won’t Rule out Cabinet Job If Trump Offers

If President-elect Donald Trump calls, Ben Carson isn’t ready to rule out accepting a job in Trump’s Cabinet.

Carson, who supported Trump’s candidacy after dropping his own bid for the Republican presidential nomination, had said last week he is not interested in a spot in the new presidential administration.

Media reports that came out before Carson said he would not be part of the Cabinet suggested Carson may be offered the job of Secretary of Education, and had also been frequently mentioned as a potential pick for Secretary of Health and Human Services

On Sunday, Carson appeared on Fox News’s Fox Report Special and offered a different version of his intentions.

“Basically, I’ve said my preference is to be outside and to act as an adviser, but if after going through the process they all conclude it would be much better to have me in the Cabinet, I would have to give that very serious consideration,” Carson said. “It’s just not my preference.”

The retired neurosurgeon said his healthcare expertise gives him a unique perspective.

“… there is no question I have very strong opinions about healthcare and how it should be returned to the private sector, and you — the patients and the physicians — should have a quality experience, not be forced into something,” Cason said.

During his GOP campaign, Carson often spoke about issues related to the needs of urban youth

“I also feel very strongly about education,” Carson said Sunday. “I mean, you educate people, and you give them the keys to freedom. It doesn’t matter where they came from or what their background is, they write their own ticket.”

Carson suggested last week that he would assist Trump without a specific Cabinet role.

“The way I’m leaning is to work from the outside and not from the inside,” Carson told The Washington Post. “I want to have the freedom to work on many issues and not be pigeonholed into one particular area.”

“I’ve said that if it came to a point where he absolutely needs me, I’d reconsider. But I don’t think that’s the situation with these positions,” he added. “My view is that if some people and the media are going to hate him, then he’s going to need allies on the outside to be there, to be there to move the country forward. I don’t care about a position.”

Also last week, Armstrong Williams, Carson’s business manager, said Carson did not have the management skills needed to run a federal department.

“Dr. Carson feels he has no government experience, he’s never run a federal agency. The last thing he would want to do was take a position that could cripple the presidency,” Williams said then.

In a guest column on WND, Williams noted that the issue was not what Carson lacks, but what he has.

“Part of what makes him so unique is his vision for what this country can achieve,” Williams wrote, noting that those who hold Cabinet jobs are managers, not visionaries.

“I have no doubt that Dr. Carson would have met and exceeded any challenge set before him and done a fantastic job,” he added. “However, it’s important to keep in mind that you can hire management, but not vision. It’s a unique attribute that people either possess or not.” (For more from the author of “Carson Says He Won’t Rule out Cabinet Job If Trump Offers” please click HERE)

Ben Carson Says He’ll Help Trump Find a Replacement to Obamacare

Ben Carson said he would help President-elect Donald Trump construct a replacement to Obamacare.

“I think the replacement must obviously come first and it must be something that is very appealing and easy to understand,” he told Politico Wednesday. “And then, only then, would you dismantle what’s in place.”

Carson declined to say whether he was being considered for a Cabinet position, but Politico reports that his name is being floated as a possible candidate for positions such as secretary of health and human services or secretary of education.

Trump campaigned on replacing Obamacare with a simpler, cheaper alternative that has less government regulation.

A GOP-led Congress means that a Trump administration would have the best chance of coming up with an alternative to Obamacare since 2010 passage of the law. (Read more from “Ben Carson Says He’ll Help Trump Find a Replacement to Obamacare” HERE)

Carson: Dirty Trick Video a Tactic Born of Desperation to Derail Trump

To Ben Carson, the release of the 2005 video in which Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump uses vulgar terms to describe pursuing women is part of the smear campaign America’s political class will continue to wage against Trump to keep him from the White House.

“I’m not seeing anything that I didn’t totally expect,” Carson said Saturday during an interview with Newsmax. “The political class and the media has to make this about Donald Trump. They cannot make this about the issues.”

Carson said the fact the tape was leaked at the same time WikiLeaks exposed damaging comments made by Democratic presidential candidate Hilary Clinton in closed-door speeches is more than a coincidence.

“They’re getting desperate because they’re seeing the crowds that Trump is attracting. They see the enthusiasm gap between the candidates and they know how that’s going to translate on Election Day. Their goal is now is to dribble out all of these things like this tape,” said Carson, who added, “This won’t be the last thing, by the way.”

He said the flood of Republican denunciations since the tape came out shows the success of the tactic.

“They’ve been waiting to drop these things out periodically because for one thing, this Hillary open borders thing came out. This is obscuring that.

“Why aren’t we talking about what the implications of that are?” he said, referring to comments Clinton made about expanding free trade.

“It will change the nature of everything in this nation. They were very clever, and because they have the arm of the media it makes it very easy for them to get across what they’re doing. Unless people understand what’s going on,” he said.

Carson said the election is not a referendum on Trump or Clinton, but about the “direction of the country.”

“It’s about the elites and the status quo being desperate to maintain their position and this direction versus a change in direction that’s desperately needed,” he said.

“Their (Democrats) strategy will have some impact. Some people will always capitulate instead of fight. But by a 2-to-1 margin, Americans think we’re on the wrong track. That’s what you need to be talking about,” he said.

Carson, who throughout the campaign has distinguished between his opinion of Trump’s private style and the country’s need for change, said there is no argument that Trump “made some mistakes.”

“He concedes that,” Carson said. “Those are not good things to say, what he said in that tape. He’s not going to try to defend that. And he’s not going to allow this to become about him. The issues are too important.”

Carson characterized Trump Saturday as “resolute.”

“I think Donald has a very good understanding what’s going and why it’s imperative that he carry the torch for the people in terms of the issues and not allow him to be sidetracked by any of this,” Carson added. Carson Reminds Interviewer What Really Matters When Asked Question on Race

Former presidential candidate and retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson had a lesson for Fox News host Chris Wallace about what is really important in the 2016 presidential race after Wallace asked a question about race.

“Do you worry that you’re being used as a prop for black voters and that supporting Donald Trump will end up hurting your credibility in the black community?” Wallace asked Carson during his appearance on Fox News Sunday.

“It’s not about me. I said a long time ago, it’s not about me, it’s about our nation,” the soft-spoken Carson shot back.

Pointing out the hypocrisy from those who criticize Trump, Carson reminded Wallace that in 1995, former President Bill Clinton used his State of the Union address to focus on illegal immigration.

“He said, illegal aliens are creating big problems for us and we’re going to put a lot more border patrol people on and secure our borders and we’re not going to have people able to work who come in illegally. We’re going to cut off their welfare benefits and we’re going to deport people in record numbers,” Carson said.

“You know, he says basically the same thing, but when he says it, wow, great, standing ovation, this is a great president. But when Trump says it, it’s hate speech. What hypocrisy! What incredible hypocrisy,” Carson added.

Earlier in the interview, Carson noted that historically, the Republican Party has ceded inner cities to the Democrats.

“Donald Trump is changing that narrative and is really starting to talk about this in a very serious way,” Carson said, noting that in his personal discussions with Trump, the billionaire “becomes animated during the discussions … this is a subject about which he cares deeply.”

Trump’s focus is on changing the political dynamics, Carson said.

“And what is going to be accomplished is something that many in the Democratic Party fear, and this is an alternative — an alternative to, you know, promises that are not kept,” he said.

Carson then recited a litany of the problems facing urban centers, from poor schools to high crime, to unstable families with few jobs and even less hope.

During the interview, Wallace played a clip of Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton attacking Trump’s outreach efforts to black voters.

“It really does take a lot of nerve to ask people he’s ignored and mistreated for decades, ‘What do you have to lose?’ Because the answer is everything,” Clinton said in the clip.

Wallace asked Carson to comment.

” … it’s really the Democratic Party that has the explaining to do. They’ve been in charge of our cities for a long time,” Carson responded.

“The city I grew up in, Detroit, was once the most prosperous city in the United States — some people say in the world. From there, it went to the largest bankruptcy. That was not a coincidence. And we see that in our large cities across the nation under Democratic control. That is a problem,” Carson said.

“And when that is happening, what Donald Trump is saying, why would you continue down that same pathway? The definition of insanity is doing the same thing, expecting a different result. The result will not be different,” Carson concluded. (For more from the author of “Carson Reminds Interviewer What Really Matters When Asked Question on Race” please click HERE)

Dr. Ben Carson Calls for Release of Clinton Medical Records

Speaking to Fox News host Sean Hannity [this past week], Dr. Ben Carson — one of the nation’s foremost neurosurgeons — expressed concern over the health of Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton.

“Certainly as a person gets older, the number of medical conditions that we have to watch for increases, which is one of the reasons that we strongly suggest as you get older that you have at least an annual examination,” Carson began.

“If you’re going into a very important position like this, it’s critical,” he continued. “And that information should be something that we should have access to, because it’s very important in terms of making that decision.”

Carson’s comments came in response to a new Drudge Report headline, which claimed that as many as 59 percent of Americans believe Clinton should release her medical records.

“Also, recognize that the presidency is not a nine-to-five job. It is extraordinarily grueling and you need to have everything going for you,” said Carson.

“And also the mental capacity. There are standardized mental examinations, many mental exams, about 30 questions. You could get a very quick assessment in terms of what’s going on,” Carson added.

Carson called on the Clinton campaign to disclose her medical records to the American people, which he believes are required in order to make a fully informed decision on such a “critical issue.”

“These are the kinds of things that should be open to the public in making such a critical decision,” he said.

Hannity then turned to Dr. Marc Siegel — a Fox News contributor who serves as an associate professor at NYU’s Langone Medical Center and the Medical Director of Doctor Radio on SiriusXM — for further analysis.

“Secretary Clinton hit her head in 2012 [which] could cause the type of brain damage, possibly… that can have long-term effects, that can have effects on thinking, on memory, on gate, on how you walk, on dizziness, on balance; that’s a possibility that we need to see the records of,” said Siegel.

“She had a blood clot, she has a family history of stroke, that blood clot — as Dr. Carson will tell you — can sometimes be accompanied by a stroke. Not in this case, because an MRI was negative, because an MRI afterwords was negative, but these are the kinds of things… I’d like to see the full records,” he concluded. Ben Carson: America Is ‘Like a Cruise Ship’ Headed Towards ‘Tremendous Carnage and Death’

Former Republican presidential candidate Dr. Ben Carson said that the United States may be on a course to “tremendous carnage and death” during an interview Monday on Fox and Friends.

“America, right now, is like a cruise ship that is about to go off of Niagara Falls with tremendous carnage and death,” Carson said. “What you have to do first is recognize the problem, stop the ship, turn it around and then move in the other direction” . . .

Carson, a surrogate for Donald Trump, also addressed reports that an independent candidate may run for president, arguing that a third-party bid by an independent could lead to victory for Democratic frontrunner Hillary Clinton in November over “petty little differences” with the Republican candidate.
