Carson: ‘The IRS Is Not Honest’ [+video]

“We have a system of taxation in this country that is horribly wrong,” Dr. Ben Carson said at Thursday night’s debate. He wants to “ret rid of” the Internal Revenue Service.

“You know, I never had an audit until I spoke at the National Prayer Breakfast, and then all of a sudden, they came in, they said we just want to look at your real estate dealings.” (Carson’s well-received speech at the National Prayer Breakfast in 2013 launched his political career.)

“And then they didn’t find anything, so they said let’s look at the whole year. And they didn’t find anything, so they said let’s look at the next year and the next year. They didn’t find anything and they won’t find anything because I’m a very honest person.

“But the fact of the matter is, the IRS is not hones, and we need to get rid of them” . . .

With most of the debate centering on Donald Trump, Marco Rubio, and Ted Cruz, Carson drew laughter at one point when he begged someone to insult him, so he could get a word in edgewise. (Read more from “Carson: ‘The IRS Is Not Honest'” HERE)

Ben Carson: This Is How You Can Destroy America

In an apparent hit at President Obama, Republican presidential candidate, Dr. Ben Carson, told Republicans gathered at the Harris County GOP Lincoln-Reagan dinner that if “you wanted to destroy America, you would do it from inside.”

The soft spoken candidate then detailed exactly how that could be done. The examples he gave were strikingly familiar to what has occurred during the Obama administration.

Carson was in Houston to speak to Republicans at their annual Lincoln-Reagan dinner, and to participate in the GOP debate at the University of Houston on Thursday.

Dr. Carson said the first thing you would do to destroy the country would be to drive wedges between people. He said you would do so, not only on racial lines, but also with women, age, religion, and Republicans and Democrats.

Carson said you would bring the country to financial ruin by spending money at “unsustainable levels.” You would also bring people in from other countries and put them on public benefits. (Read more from “Ben Carson: This Is How You Can Destroy America” HERE)

Ben Carson Says This Is the Way to Get Information From Terror Suspects

Ben Carson offered a way to enhance the country’s methods of interrogating suspected terrorists: using “medical ways” to put people in a “less-than-conscious state.”

“I believe there are a number of ways to extract information,” Carson told CNN’s Poppy Harlow on “CNN Newsroom” Tuesday afternoon. “An average person might understand it as ‘truth serum’ — there are ways where you decrease a person’s conscious defenses, and they might be much more willing to give up information.”

Carson, a world-renowned neurosurgeon, pointed to a specific treatment that could be used: sodium amytal. The drug was used during World War II to treat soldiers for anxiety or trauma, though its usefulness as a truth-inducing treatment is debatable. Carson: ‘I Think the Way That I Am Treated by the Left Is Racism’

GOP presidential candidate and retired neurosurgeon Dr. Ben Carson told Politico on Tuesday that he hasn’t experienced racism by Republicans and the last time he experienced real racism was by liberals.

“You don’t have to go too far. I think the way that I am treated by the left is racism,” Carson said when asked what was his last personal experience with racism. “They’re saying because you’re black you have to think a certain way, and if you don’t think that way, you’re an Uncle Tom. You’re worthy every horrible epithet they can come up with, whereas if I weren’t black, then I would just be a Republican.”

“You have an entirely unique perspective on these issues than a lot of Republicans. I mean you’re very much in the minority in the Republican Party on this,” Politico’s Glenn Thrush said during the “Off Message” podcast.

Thrush: “In terms of– we’ve seen major party candidates who’ve been African American before, but talk a little bit for me about what is it like in 2016 perhaps compared to previous generations of African-American candidates – even Herman Cain. What has that experience been like, and have there been any surprises?”

Carson: “First of all, I don’t find any particular problem being an African-American in the Republican Party. The people– I know that in the progressive side of things they like to say that the Republicans are racist, I know that. I haven’t experienced that.” (Read more from “Carson: ‘I Think the Way That I Am Treated by the Left Is Racism'” HERE)

Ben Carson’s Campaign Denies Reports That He Will End Presidential Run After Nevada

Carson’s campaign denied a claim by a Daily Beast reporter who tweeted that the retired neurosurgeon plans to suspend his campaign after Nevada, out of courtesy to his Nevada staffers.

“There have been only three contests out of 56 so far; with the amount of grassroots and financial support, Dr. Carson still has a story to tell and will keep taking his message to ‘We the People,’” a senior Carson campaign official told TheBlaze Sunday night. “In addition to large, enthusiastic crowds, Dr. Carson has many people pledging their continued support and pleading with him to stay in the race, as his alternative voice for representative government, not D.C. politics as usual, needs to be heard.”

The official said that he’s reached out to the Daily Beast reporter to inform him that his tweet is not indicative of the campaign’s plans.

Cruz, Carson Held Secret Meeting in a Closet About ‘Dirty Tricks’ — It Didn’t Go Well

Republican presidential candidates Ben Carson and Ted Cruz held a meeting Thursday night in a storage closet — literally.

The meeting, which was called by Cruz and held prior to Thursday’s Conservative Review convention, was an attempt to bandage his relationship with rival Carson ahead of the South Carolina primary on Saturday. The two conversed for about 30 minutes, as Carson’s Secret Service detail stood guard by the door, according to The Daily Beast . . .

The secret meeting was supposed to remain a secret, until the Cruz campaign leaked the fact that the talk had taken place, according to the Carson campaign.

“We weren’t going to comment to the press on it, but it seems pretty clear that the other party involved had a different agenda,” Carson spokesman Jason Osbourne said. “How else could we perceive that to be?”

Cruz apologized to the Carson campaign earlier this month for sending out an email telling supporters that Carson had dropped out of the race, citing a “breaking news story” that CNN sent out. In reality, Carson was just returning home for a few days in order to do laundry. In the weeks since the Iowa caucuses, the 2016 Committee, a PAC associated with the Carson camp, has capitalized on the confusion between the two candidates. Ben Carson: ‘I Would Much Rather Lose Than Lie’ [+video]

By Melanie Hunter. In an interview Friday with MSNBC’s “Morning Joe,” GOP presidential candidate Dr. Ben Carson said he would “rather lose than lie” when asked if he would ever lie to the American people if he were president.

“I would much rather lose than lie. I take my examples from the life of Christ. I make no bones about the fact that I’m Christian, and I have Christian values, so that to me is much more important than any political ambition,” said Carson.

MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough asked Carson, “I’ll ask you a question that was asked of Hillary Clinton and she couldn’t answer it. So I’ll ask you yes, no. Would you ever lie to the American people if you are president?”

As CNSNews.com reported, Scarborough was referring to a CBS News interview with Democratic presidential candidate and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton on Thursday. (Read more from “Ben Carson: ‘I Would Much Rather Lose Than Lie'” HERE)

Ben Carson: We Cannot Give Away Freedoms That People Died For

By Melanie Hunter. GOP presidential candidate Dr. Ben Carson told attendees at the Conservative Convention hosted by the Conservative Review Thursday night in Greenville, S.C., that people gave up everything including their lives so that we could have freedom of speech, expression, religion, and more, and those freedoms cannot be given away.

“There were so many people who gave up everything including their lives so that we could have freedom of speech, freedom of expression, freedom of religion, all of our other freedoms. We cannot give those away,” said Carson.

Carson said there are some “who like to denigrate” America and “say that we’re the source for all the evil in the world, and that we’re not exceptional.” (Read more from “Ben Carson: We Cannot Give Away Freedoms That People Died For” HERE)

Ben Carson Just Made a Major Announcement About VP

Retired neurosurgeon Dr. Ben Carson left the door open on Tuesday to serving as vice president in a Trump administration.

Fox Business host Neil Cavuto, interviewing Carson from New Hampshire, pressed him on this issue as primary voters began casting ballots. The Republican hopeful recently settled for a fourth-place finish in the Iowa caucus and has polled at the bottom of the pack in the Granite State.

“Would you ever be open to a VP spot [with Trump]?” asked Cavuto, Mediaite reported.

“I would have to have major philosophical alignment with whoever it was. I would have to have guarantees that I could do some substantial things,” replied Carson. “I certainly would sit down and discuss it” . . .

“Rather than get into that, let’s say as long as there is significant philosophical alignment, I wouldn’t have any problem. … I’m aiming to really change this country in the same way that I came up with new ways to do very complex things that people have been trying to do for a long period of time. That’s what I want to do with this country,” said Carson. (Read more from “Ben Carson Just Made a Major Announcement About VP” HERE)

Ben Carson Hammers Media: They Attack Me Because I’m a Black Conservative

Renowned neurosurgeon-turned-Republican-candidate Dr. Ben Carson scolded the media for twisting his words in pursuit of “ratings” and “conflict.”

“I think that they’re looking for ratings, they’re always looking for conflict,” Dr. Carson said in a radio interview with his longtime friend and business manager Armstrong Williams. “Conflict gets them more ratings than peace and joy.”

Carson’s contention came after a Bloomberg Politics breakfast on Wednesday where he said Williams is “not necessarily the epitome of truth,” according to POLITICO . . .

In the short span since Carson’s comments became public, the media have used the GOP contender’s words to bludgeon him.

“The sinking of Ben Carson,” was the headline that the Washington Post’s Jonathan Capehart ran with, writing, “The Iowa caucuses are just four days away. Four days from when the people of the Hawkeye State do for Carson what he won’t do himself: pull the plug on his campaign.” (Read more from “Ben Carson Hammers Media: They Attack Me Because I’m a Black Conservative” HERE)

Ben Carson Returns to the Campaign Trail

Dr. Ben Carson resumed his campaign for the GOP Presidential nomination Thursday, ending the temporary suspension of all campaign activities following a tragic crash involving his volunteers.

The accident took place in Iowa on January 19th, according to a statement issued by the Carson campaign.

“A van transporting three campaign volunteers and a Carson campaign employee hit a patch of ice and flipped on its side where it was struck by another vehicle,” the statement describes.

The campaign members injured in the crash, according to another campaign statement, were Braden Joplin, Drew McCall, Aaron Ohnemus and Ryan Patrick Shellooe.

Joplin, who was a campaign volunteer, succumbed to his injuries and passed away.
