Obama Campaign Manager Drops Bombshell on 2020 Bernie Run

Appearing on the Wednesday episode of ABC’s “Powerhouse Politics” podcast, former deputy chief of staff and 2012 campaign manager for President Obama, Jim Messina, stated that he doesn’t believe Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) can beat Trump in 2020.

Messina first noted that Sanders would likely be one of the “final two or three candidates” in the Democratic primaries due in part to his team, which, “over the last four years, in delegate meeting after delegate meeting, and DNC meeting after DNC meeting … got the rules changed in a way that really, really helps [Sanders].” . . .

He then pointed out, however, that “61% of Democrats say the most important issue in the Democratic primary for president is who can beat Donald Trump.” This, according to Messina, is a point of contrast between the politicians and the average Democratic voter, who simply wants to know who can best win the 2020 election. . .

This prompted [the host] Karl to ask: “Can Bernie Sanders beat Donald Trump?”

Democrats Are Holding ‘Stop Bernie Sanders’ Meetings

Members of the Democratic “establishment” and major Democratic donors have been holding meetings in Washington, D.C., The New York Times reports, trying to formulate a strategy that could keep the 79-year-old, progressive Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) from getting the 2020 Democratic presidential nomination.

The not-so-secret pow-wows are taking place in backrooms and involve a number of big names like Democratic mega-donor Bernard Schwartz, who has been leading the charge against Sanders from New York, and Democratic leaders Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-MY) marshaling support in D.C. South Bend mayor and Democratic presidential contender Pete Buttigieg has reportedly attended the tet-a-tets and, of course, members of the Clinton world are involved, including former Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe, and longtime Clinton defender, David Brock.

They all seem to have their reasons; for some, they’re still bitter over how Sanders refused to acknowledge and actively support Hillary Clinton as the nominee, given how much pull he commanded with grassroots Democrats. Others fear a far-left candidate could tank their chances against President Donald Trump, either because Sanders doesn’t have wide appeal in significant swing states, or because a far-left candidate could open the field to a third party.

Democrats are counting on the “uniting force” of not liking Donald Trump to push them ahead of the current president, but they also know that, outside of social media and some urban centers where Democrats already command the vote, “Democratic socialism” isn’t a popular concept. And to take the 2020 presidential election, Democrats will need to win in blue-collar, Rust Belt states where Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) is reviled. WATCH: Bernie Sanders Explodes When Asked About His Taxes

Socialist Senator Bernie Sanders exploded on Monday when asked during a Fox News town hall about accepting tax breaks that he voted against and why he did not send the money back given the fact that he constantly is claiming that the wealthy need to pay more in taxes.

Fox News host Bret Baier first pressed Sanders on the issue, to which Sanders responded: “Pfft…come on…I am, I paid the taxes that I owe…why don’t you get Donald Trump up here and ask him how much he pays in taxes.”

A few moments later, Fox News host Martha MacCallum pressed Sanders again on the issue, asking: “So would you be willing to pay 52% on the money that you made? You can volunteer, you can send it back.”

Bernie Wants People to Vote From Prison

Campaigning in Iowa on Saturday, 2020 Democratic candidate Bernie Sanders said he thinks that convicted felons should be allowed to vote from behind bars.

Sanders represents Vermont in the Senate, one of only two states that allow felons to vote from prison currently. At a town hall meeting on Saturday, he was asked whether it should be a nationwide law. . .

“In my state, what we do is separate. You’re paying a price, you committed a crime, you’re in jail,” said Sanders, according to the Des Moines Register. “But you’re still living in American society and you have a right to vote. I believe in that, yes, I do.”

Thirteen states and Washington, D.C. currently specifically prohibit felons from voting only while incarcerated. Thirty states restore voting rights to felons after all time, including probation, has been served. That thirty includes Florida, which only made the change after the 2018 midterms. Bernie Freakout: Trump Health Care Could Kill Thousands!

By Breitbart. Sunday on CBS’s “Face the Nation,” Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) predicted “thousands of people” would “literally die” if President Donald Trump uses the courts to strike down the Affordable Care Act.

Sanders said, “Trump has an idea on health care. His idea is to throw 32 million off of the health insurance they have. Doing away with insurance for kids who are 26 years of age or younger who are on their parents’ plans, doing away with the protections that the ACA has for preexisting conditions. Margaret, that means if your cancer, your heart disease, you have diabetes, if Trump gets his way, the cost of health insurance for you will be so high that many people literally will not be able to afford it. Bernie Defends Biden

By The Hill. Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) said Sunday that he’s “not sure that one incident alone” disqualifies Joe Biden from running for president after former Nevada state assemblywoman Lucy Flores (D) accused the former vice president of inappropriately touching and kissing her without her consent in 2014.

“That’s a decision for the vice president to make,” Sanders, a candidate for the 2020 Democratic presidential nomination, said on CBS’s “Face the Nation” when asked if the allegation disqualifies Biden. “I’m not sure that one incident alone disqualifies anybody.”

Sanders added that he has “no reason not to believe” Flores, who said in an essay published Friday in New York Magazine’s The Cut that Biden touched her shoulders and kissed the back of her head before a Nevada campaign rally.

“I have no reason not to believe Lucy,” the Vermont senator said on Sunday. “And I think what this speaks to is the need to fundamentally change the culture of this country and to create environments feel comfortable and feel safe.” (Read more from “Bernie Defends Biden” HERE)

Bernie Hit With Huge FEC Complaint

A complaint filed against Bernie Sanders’ 2020 campaign for president maintains that Sanders broke federal election laws by hiring illegal aliens for his campaign staff.

The complaint filed with the Federal Election Commission (FEC) by the Coolidge Reagan Foundation cites the Sanders campaign for hiring three illegal aliens to fill advisory positions in the campaign. The complaint claims this is a violation of laws that mean to prevent foreign influence in our elections, Fox News reported.

The Sanders campaign recently announced it had taken on Maria Belén Sisa as its deputy national press secretary. Sisa previously served on Sanders’ Latino outreach team for his 2016 campaign. . .

“Senator Sanders and Bernie 2020 is permitting a foreign national, Ms. Sisa, to serve in an advisory position which allows her to directly or indirectly participate in the decision-making process of persons with regard to election-related activities in violation of FEC regulations,” the filing says. . .

“Due to the high profile of Cesar Vargas, Erika Andiola, and Maria Belén Sisa as leading activists in the undocumented community, there is reason to believe that respondents are ‘foreign nationals’ within the meaning of 52 U.S.C. § 301219b)(2), and in violation of 11 C.F.R. § 110.20 (i) and A.O. 2004-26, directly or indirectly participated in the decision-making process of persons with regard to the election-related activities of Bernie 2016,” the complaint adds. Bernie Sanders Calls for Stripping of Second Amendment Rights Overnight

Late last night New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern announced a ban on “military-style” semi-automatic rifles in the country.

“Today I am announcing that New Zealand will ban all military-style semi-automatic weapons. We will also ban all assault rifles. We will also ban all high capacity magazines,” she said. “We will ban all parts with the ability to convert semi-automatic or any other type of firearm into a military-style semi-automatic weapon.”

Democrat presidential candidate and socialist Bernie Sanders endorsed the move right away and said it needs to happen in the United States. He wants to strip Americans of their Second Amendment rights overnight.

Based on the specific criteria outlined in the New Zealand ban, Sanders is calling for a ban on essentially every firearm in the United States. The functional definition of “assault rifle” in this case includes nearly all firearms in regular, legal and proper use by millions of Americans. New Zealand doesn’t have a Second Amendment. The United States of America does.

As a reminder, the man who helped stop the horrific mosque shooting — which has prompted these extreme measures — chased the shooter away with a semi-automatic handgun.

Now Bernie’s Illegal Alien Aide Is Attacking Jews

An illegal alien working for socialist Sen. Bernie Sanders (D-VT) was forced to apologize on Tuesday for promoting anti-Semitic conspiracy theories on her Facebook account accusing American Jews of having dual loyalties.

Belen Sisa, Sanders’ national deputy press secretary, reportedly questioned if the “American Jewish community has a dual allegiance to the state of Israel,” Politico reported.

Sisa deleted the post after Politico questioned her about it; she gave the publication the following statement:

In a conversation on Facebook, I used some language that I see now was insensitive. Issues of allegiance and loyalty to one’s country come with painful history. At a time when so many communities in our country feel under attack by the president and his allies, I absolutely recognize that we need to address these issues with greater care and sensitivity to their historical resonance, and I’m committed to doing that in the future.

Sisa responded: “This is a serious question: do you not think that the American government and American Jewish community has a dual allegiance to the state of Israel? Poll Shows Double Trouble for Bernie

. . .But a new poll suggests his age and self-identification as a “democratic socialist” could hurt the independent senator from Vermont if he reaches the 2020 general election.

An NBC News/Wall Street Journal public opinion survey tested 11 different presidential characteristics among registered voters nationwide. The most widely accepted – being an African American (87 percent said they were “enthusiastic” or “comfortable” with that characteristic), a white man (86 percent), a woman (84 percent), and gay or lesbian (68 percent). . .

Looking at possible 2020 Democratic primary voters, though, the survey suggests that self-identifying as democratic socialist is less of a liability. Among registered Democrats only, those feeling favorable about the age characteristic remained low (36 percent). But those “enthusiastic” or “comfortable” with the socialist characteristic dramatically jumped to 47 percent.

The poll was conducted Feb. 24-27, after Sander’s Feb. 19 announcement that he was launching a presidential campaign. Nine-hundred adults – including 720 registered voters nationwide – were questioned by live operators. The survey’s sampling error was plus or minus 3.65 percentage points.

While the new poll raises some questions, the Vermont senator continues to score well in the latest 2020 Democratic primary polls. Thanks to his strong name recognition, Sanders places either first or second in recent national or early voting state surveys, along with former Vice President Joe Biden, who’s leaning toward a White House run. Bernie Can’t Name One Piece of Passed Legislation That Helps African Americans

Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) seems to think he’s such a huge advocate for African Americans and the civil rights movement. There’s just one problem with his assessment: he’s been in Congress for more than three decades and he can’t name one piece of legislation that has passed that benefits minorities. But don’t worry. He supported Jesse Jackson when he ran for president in 1988, so, naturally, that means he’s fought for civil rights in America.

“So, I think I have a long history in civil rights activism. In 1988 I was one of the few white public officials who supported Jesse Jackson for President of the United States and he ended up winning Vermont,” Sanders told Charlamagne Tha God during an interview on The Breakfast Club. “I think if you look at my record, in terms of civil rights and other areas, you will find it is consistently a very, very strong work.”

Charlamagne asked Sanders, point blank, “Any legislation we can point to?” . . .

“Well legislation that, ah, benefits African-Americans, yeah we passed, but not specifically. We passed legislation that benefits working people, sure,” Sander responded.
