Senate Judiciary: Witness Believes Ford May Have Mistaken Him for Kavanaugh

By Townhall. In a late night, last minute turn of events, the Senate Judiciary Committee released new information about Dr. Christine Blasey Ford’s sexual assault allegations against Judge Brett Kavanaugh.

According to Fox News’ Ed Henry, a man came forward on Monday and said he believes Ford confused him with Kavanaugh. The Committee had multiple conversations with the man, which has some speculating just how credible this witness may be.

“Tuesday, September 25th, according to Chairman Grassley, ‘Committee staff had a second interview with a man who believes he not Judge Kavanaugh had the encounter with Dr. Ford in the summer of ’82, which is the basis of our allegation,'” Henry quoted. “Here’s the key line: ‘He described his recollection of their interaction in some detail, as if this person has some more details, some more recollection than Judge Kavanaugh, who has denied it.'”

Two Men Claiming to Be the One Involved in Ford Encounter, Not Kavanaugh, Interviewed by Senate Staffers

By Washington Examiner. Senate Judiciary Committee staffers have spoken to two men who separately claim they could be the one described by Christine Blasey Ford, not Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh.

Aides to Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, met with the one of the men Monday after he sent them a written statement asserting he “had the encounter with Dr. Ford in 1982,” according to a summary of the panel’s efforts to investigate Ford’s allegation. They then interviewed the unidentified man a second time before obtaining a more in-depth written account from him on Wednesday.

The committee’s investigative staff on Wednesday additionally spoke on the telephone with another man claiming he was the man described by Ford, Grassley’s summary continued. . .

The claims of the two unnamed men echo suggestions that Ford is mistaken about the identity of her alleged attacker. Ford, now a California-based professor, has rejected the possibility she confused Kavanaugh with another of his classmates from Georgetown Prep suggested by Ed Whelan. Whelan was placed on a leave of absence from the Ethics and Public Policy Center after he laid out his argument last week in a string of controversial tweets. Stephen King Exposes the Real Reason the Left Hates Kavanaugh in Two Tweets

On Tuesday, author and ardent leftist Stephen King took to Twitter to unleash venom on Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh, and in the process revealed one of the main reasons why the Left has such hatred for the man — and it’s certainly not because of these vague, unsubstantiated, and uncorroborated accusations enabled by shoddy reporting, either.

“If ‘white male entitlement’ was in the dictionary, it could be illustrated by Brett Kavanaugh’s photograph. The thought of this closed mind on the Supreme Court for the rest of my life sickens me,” wrote King in a tweet.

And there you have it: Kavanaugh is loathed because he is a successful white male, unable to claim any victimhood credit. The judge belonged to a frat, he played football, he’s religious, he claims he was a virgin until well after high school, he was popular and had lots of friends, graduated at the top of his class and has achieved real success. . .

King followed it up with more nonsense: “While in college, Brett Kavanaugh was a heavy drinker and an enthusiastic party-boy. Those behaviors change with age, but the attitudes and assumptions which drove the behaviors rarely do,” he wrote.

Kavanaugh Accuser Refuses to Testify. Here’s Her Response to the Senate Judiciary Committee.

By Townhall. Judge Brett Kavanaugh’s second sexual abuse accuser, Deborah Ramirez, will not testify before the Senate Judiciary Committee.

According to Sen. John Kennedy (R-LA), a member of the Committee, said he spoke with Ramirez. She made it very clear that she gave her story to the press, which can be found in The New Yorker article that was posted late Sunday night, The Washington Times reported. . .

Sarah Huckabee Sanders: White House ‘Open’ to Second Kavanaugh Accuser Testifying

By CNBC. The White House said Tuesday it would be “open” to allow Senate testimony from a second woman who accuses Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh of sexual misconduct.

“Certainly we would be open to that, and that process could take place on Thursday,” White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said on ABC News’ “Good Morning America.”

President Donald Trump has been clear, Sanders said: “Let them speak, but let’s also let Brett Kavanaugh speak, and let’s let him tell his side of the story before we allow allegations to determine his entire future.”

The White House’s stance appears to clash with the lines drawn around the Senate hearing by Judiciary Committee Chairman Sen. Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, who limited the hearing to two witnesses. Senators are currently scheduled to hear from Kavanaugh and Christine Blasey Ford, who has accused him of sexually assaulting her when they were teenagers.

The second woman, Deborah Ramirez, has alleged that Kavanaugh’s sexual misconduct came during a party at Yale University in the 1980s, when they were classmates. In a story published Sunday by The New Yorker, Ramirez claims Kavanaugh “exposed himself” to her, and caused her to touch his genitals “without her consent as she pushed him away.” (Read more from “Sarah Huckabee Sanders: White House ‘Open’ to Second Kavanaugh Accuser Testifying” HERE)

Another Turn in Kavanaugh Accuser Hearing

A lawyer for Christine Blasey Ford is now making more demands and objecting again to plans that have been made for a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing on Thursday.

Ford has accused Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh of sexual misconduct from an incident at a party in the 1980s when they were in high school. Kavanaugh has denied her claims. Last week, Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley invited Ford to appear at a hearing to tell her side of the story, while Kavanaugh can then tell his. After days of delays, Ford’s attorneys agreed Saturday that Ford would appear.

However, a Monday letter from Michael Bromwich, one of Ford’s attorneys, objected to plans for the hearing as well as Monday’s floor comments from Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, who lashed out at the “smear campaign” against Kavanaugh.

Bromwich objected to the fact that, as stated in a letter from committee staffer Mike Davis, an outside attorney might question Ford, Fox News reported.

“This hearing plan that Mr. Davis described does not appear designed to provide Dr. Blasey Ford with fair and respectful treatment,” Bromwich wrote. “In our view, the hiring of an unnamed ‘experienced sex crimes prosecutor,’ as Mr. Davis described in his email, is contrary to the Majority’s repeated emphasis on the need for the Senate and this Committee’s members to fulfill their constitutional obligations.”

Bromwich said there is no need for such as step, which Ford has opposed.

“It is also inconsistent with your stated wish to avoid a ‘circus,’ as well as Dr. Blasey Ford’s requests through counsel that senators conduct the questioning,” he wrote

“This is not a criminal trial for which the involvement of an experienced sex crimes prosecutor would be appropriate,” the letter said. “Neither Dr. Blasey Ford nor Judge Kavanaugh is on trial. The goal should be to develop the relevant facts, not try a case.”

Bromwich said using outside counsel defies precedents.

“The central point is that there is no precedent for this Committee to bring in outside counsel for the sole purpose of shielding the members of the Committee from performing their responsibility to question witnesses,” Bromwich said, according to CNN.

Browmich demanded that counsel’s resume “immediately” and asked to meet with them Tuesday.

Bromwich added that McConnell’s remarks were unfair to Ford.

“We are finding it difficult to reconcile your letter and Mr. Davis’s note with the Majority Leader’s speech this afternoon on the Senate floor. As Dr. Blasey Ford has been clear since her experience was first made public, she came forward because she believes it is her civic duty to tell the truth about the sexual assault she experienced,” he wrote.

“You said in your letter that you intend to provide a ‘fair and credible’ process … Yet earlier today, the Majority Leader dismissed Dr. Ford’s experience as a ‘smear campaign,’ claiming mistakenly that the witnesses’ statements to the Committee constitute ‘a complete lack of evidence,’ implying that there has been a thorough investigation,” the letter read.

A vote on Kavanaugh’s nomination could come this week, Senate Majority Whip John Cornyn said Monday.

“I would defer to the chairman but I don’t think we would do it on Thursday,” said the Texas Republican. “Friday would be possible, but I’m gonna let him make those announcements.” (For more from the author of “Another Turn in Kavanaugh Accuser Hearing” please click HERE)

Whoa, Nelly: WSJ Columnist Notices Something Odd About WAPO’s Initial Report on Kavanaugh Accuser

Okay—so, the Brett Kavanaugh drama is heating up. Christine Blasey Ford has lobbed a grenade at Judge Brett Kavanaugh, accusing him of a drunken episode in which he attempted to sexually assault her at a party some 30-plus years ago. Kavanaugh was 17-years-old. It’s a serious charge—and it should be dissected before the Senate Judiciary Committee. Give Ms. Ford her day to detail this episode…if she can find the time. The committee and Ford’s lawyers, one of which, Debra Katz, is publicly anti-Trump (she’s and more of an operative) are still trying to hash out the details. Par for the course, right; it’s all about getting that delay. Delay for the midterms in an effort to run out the clock on this Supreme Court nomination. Democrats think they can increase their weak position on the Hill by weaponizing a possibly false charge to win more clout in D.C.

Ford’s story is shaky from the get-go: a 30-plus year allegation, which Kavanaugh has denied. Then, Mark Judge and Patrick Smyth (aka “PJ”) have straight up said they have no recollection of the night in question, the incident, and even the party itself. Ms. Ford says a party happened, but cannot remember whose house it was, how she got there, or how the whole gathering came about. But first, there’s some news about The Washington Post story that juiced this story into hyperspace. It was the piece in which the details of the account are explained in detail, and Ford’s name was revealed to the country. . .

Ford said she told no one of the incident in any detail until 2012, when she was in couples therapy with her husband. The therapist’s notes, portions of which were provided by Ford and reviewed by The Washington Post, do not mention Kavanaugh’s name but say she reported that she was attacked by students “from an elitist boys’ school” who went on to become “highly respected and high-ranking members of society in Washington.” The notes say four boys were involved, a discrepancy Ford says was an error on the therapist’s part. Ford said there were four boys at the party but only two in the room.

Okay—well, she didn’t tell anyone before her couple’s therapy in 2012. Uh, that’s a lie. She reportedly told someone days after this allegation because Christina King Miranda said she remembered it being the talk of the school, though she doesn’t know Ford and has no first-hand knowledge of the account. She believes Ford, however. Uh, that’s tells us nothing, lady. . .

Now, Kimberley Strassel had a lengthy thread on Twitter last night, where she obtained an email through a source from reporter Emma Brown to Mark Judge, who was cited in the account. Strassel cites one part of that email:

In addition to Brett Kavanaugh and Mark Judge, whom she called acquaintances she knew from past socializing, she recalls that her friend Leland (last name then was Ingham, now Keyser) was at the house and a friend of the boys named PJ.”

Democrats Have to Be Horrified as Avenatti Announcement Wrecks Their Entire Case

By Conservative Tribune. . .As The New Yorker was publishing yet another uncorroborated allegation against Kavanaugh, this time involving a party during his years at Yale, Stormy Daniels’ lawyer was busy getting in on the attention. In a tweet, he said he had evidence of malfeasance by both Kavanaugh and his high school friend which sounded an awful lot like a conspiracy theory.

“I represent a woman with credible information regarding Judge Kavanaugh and Mark Judge,” Avenatti’s first tweet began.

. . .However, this really does take the cake. Apparently, during a background check of Kavanaugh, both the FBI and the Trump administration completely missed that a judge on the D.C. Circuit Court was running a secret drug-and-alcohol gang rape group during high school which he decided it would be a great idea to allude to in his yearbook.

This was the eventual problem with the circus strategy the Democrats have pursued with Kavanaugh, both before and after Christine Blasey Ford’s allegations came to light: Attention-seeking tactics attract attention-seekers. Ford and Kavanaugh’s newest accuser, Deborah Ramirez, aren’t prima facie ridiculous, even if their accounts seem felicitously timed and are backed up by a grand total of zero corroboration. . .

This is the kind of insanity the Kavanaugh hearings will eventually devolve into unless the Democrats back away. If they were to back down, of course, that would mean Kavanaugh would sail through. That’s not likely to happen. But if Avenatti turns this into a conspiracy hunt, he’s going to end up tarnishing the credibility of the entire strategy. Third Kavanaugh Accuser, a Former U.S. Mint Employee, ‘100 Percent Credible,’ Avenatti Says

By USA Today. A third woman accusing Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh of sexual misconduct will come forward in the next 48 hours, according to Michael Avenatti, the lawyer for adult film star and alleged President Donald Trump mistress Stormy Daniels.

Following a Monday hearing over Daniels’ lawsuit against Trump and his former lawyer Michael Cohen over a hush-money deal, Avenatti told reporters he has been hired by a former employee of both the State Department and the U.S. Mint who has information of a sexual nature about Kavanaugh and his high school friend Mark Judge.

“It will relate to how they behaved at countless house parties,’’ Avenatti said.

Avenatti also told reporters the woman, whom he did not name, has multiple security clearances and will “literally risk her life’’ by coming forward. He called her “100 percent credible,’’ saying she has multiple witnesses to corroborate her story and would be willing to take a polygraph if Kavanaugh does as well.

Avenatti didn’t disclose how his client met Kavanaugh and Judge or reveal details on the timing of the alleged misconduct. (Read more from “Third Kavanaugh Accuser, a Former U.S. Mint Employee, ‘100 Percent Credible,’ Avenatti Says” HERE)

Kavanaugh Strikes Back at Accusers

By The Daily Caller. Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh vowed not to bow out of his confirmation process after two women leveled decades-old sexual assault allegations against him in a Fox News interview that will air Monday evening.

“I’m not going to let false accusations drive us out of this process, and we’re looking for a fair process where I can be heard and defend my integrity — my lifelong record of promoting dignity and equality for women … I’m not going anywhere,” he declared.

Kavanaugh’s TV sit-down with his wife comes hours after he issued a similar defiant letter.

“I will not be intimidated into withdrawing from this process. The coordinated effort to destroy my good name will not drive me out. The vile threats against my family will not drive me out. The character assassination will not succeed,” Kavanaugh vowed in the letter to the Senate Judiciary Committee.

Kavanaugh will testify before the judiciary committee Thursday alongside his accuser Dr. Christine Blasey Ford. (Read more from “Kavanaugh Strikes Back at Accusers” HERE)

Brett Kavanaugh Gets Personal, Reveals Key Detail About His Sexual History: He Was a Virgin in High School

By The Daily Caller. Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanugh revealed more details of his own sexual history, reaching as far back as high school and college, during an exclusive interview with Fox News host Martha MacCallum on Monday.

“I did not have sexual intercourse or anything close to sexual intercourse in high school or for many years thereafter and the girls from the schools I went to and I were friends,” Kavanaugh said.

“So you’re saying through all these years in question you were a virgin?” MacCallum pushed back.

He confirmed his statement saying, “That’s correct.” (Read more from “Brett Kavanaugh Gets Personal, Reveals Key Detail About His Sexual History: He Was a Virgin in High School” HERE)

New Accuser’s ‘Witnesses’ Already Rejecting Her Story

Deborah Ramirez is the second person to accuse Brett Kavanaugh of sexual impropriety. And, much like the first one, she probably should have picked her witnesses somewhat better.

Ramirez, a 53-year-old Yale graduate who now lives in Colorado, according to USA Today, a made her accusation in a piece written by Ronan Farrow and Jane Meyer for The New Yorker, which was published on Sunday.

“She was at first hesitant to speak publicly, partly because her memories contained gaps because she had been drinking at the time of the alleged incident,” the piece claims.

“In her initial conversations with The New Yorker, she was reluctant to characterize Kavanaugh’s role in the alleged incident with certainty.

“After six days of carefully assessing her memories and consulting with her attorney, Ramirez said that she felt confident enough of her recollections to say that she remembers Kavanaugh had exposed himself at a drunken dormitory party, thrust his penis in her face, and caused her to touch it without her consent as she pushed him away.”

Much like the problems with Christine Blasey Ford’s accusation, however, the sources Ramirez gave The New Yorker didn’t necessarily back up her story. Three students in particular gave a starkly different version of what happened.

“In a statement, two of those male classmates who Ramirez alleged were involved in the incident, the wife of a third male student she said was involved, and three other classmates, Dino Ewing, Louisa Garry, and Dan Murphy, disputed Ramirez’s account of events,” Farrow and Meyer wrote.

Ewing, Garry and Murphy were arguably the most damning for Ramirez’s claims, especially because they weren’t accused of anything.

“We were the people closest to Brett Kavanaugh during his first year at Yale,” the three wrote in a letter to The New Yorker.

“He was a roommate to some of us, and we spent a great deal of time with him, including in the dorm where this incident allegedly took place. Some of us were also friends with Debbie Ramirez during and after her time at Yale.

“We can say with confidence that if the incident Debbie alleges ever occurred, we would have seen or heard about it — and we did not. The behavior she describes would be completely out of character for Brett.

“In addition, some of us knew Debbie long after Yale, and she never described this incident until Brett’s Supreme Court nomination was pending. Editors from the New Yorker contacted some of us because we are the people who would know the truth, and we told them that we never saw or heard about this.”

There are a number of other inconsistencies within the piece, but this arguably is the most damaging.

After all, these were some of the people who arguably new Kavanaugh and Ramirez best at this time in their lives. Not only are they willing to vouch for Kavanaugh’s character, they contend that the incident couldn’t have happened because they would have known about it.

Now, could it have flown under the radar? Of course. However, it seems somewhat unlikely, particularly given their closeness to both principals.

That’s a damning statement — and something those who want to use this allegation to stop the Kavanaugh nomination will have to address. (For more from the author of “New Accuser’s ‘Witnesses’ Already Rejecting Her Story” please click HERE)

Blink and You May Have Missed It? Andrew McCabe’s Lawyer Is on Christine Ford’s Legal Team

Andrew McCabe‘s attorney Michael R. Bromwich, along with his strategic consulting firm The Bromwich Group, have joined Dr. Christine Blasey Ford‘s legal team.

After a vexing series of public and private negotiations between Ford’s lawyers and the Republican leadership on the Senate Judiciary Committee, lead attorney Debra Katz released the following statement:

Dr. Ford accepts the Committee’s request to provide her first-hand knowledge of Brett Kavanaugh’s sexual misconduct next week. Although many aspects of the proposal you provided via email, on September 21, 2018, at 2:33 pm, are fundamentally inconsistent with the Committee’s promise of a fair, impartial investigation into her allegations, and we are disappointed with the leaks and the bullying that have tainted the process, we are hopeful that we can reach agreement on details. Can we set up a time for later this afternoon to continue our negotiations?

. . .

That name, of course, is Michael Bromwich. Bromwich has represented former FBI director McCabe since the latter was unceremoniously fired from his position within the FBI on the eve of his planned retirement.

A previous Law&Crime story by the present author identified Bromwich’s firm as the impetus behind McCabe’s putative “grassroots” half-a-million-dollar GoFundMe operation. That report also noted the pedigree of the firm now helmed by the former Obama administration appointee. (Read more from “Blink and You May Have Missed It? Senator Took Money From Democrat Who Admitted to Hitting Wife

Hawaii senator Mazie Hirono (D.) has stepped into the spotlight this week following sexual assault allegations against Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh, blaming “men in this country” for perpetuating sexual assault and telling them all to “just shut up.”

Hirono’s Democratic colleague in the Senate, Tom Carper (Del.), who has admitted to punching his wife hard enough to give her a black eye, appears to be getting a pass from Hirono, who, even since his admission was revealed last January, has taken campaign money from him.

Neither Hirono nor any of her Democratic colleagues have commented on the record since the Free Beacon uncovered a 1998 interview, in which Carper said, “Did I slap my wife 20 years ago? Yes.” . . .

Hirono’s campaign took $1,000 from Carper’s First State PAC in June of this year, according to Federal Election Commission records. . .

Also taking money from Carper since his admission was revealed last December: Democratic senators Dianne Feinstein (Calif.), Claire McCaskill (Mo.), Debbie Stabenow (Mich.), Tim Kaine (Va.), Sheldon Whitehouse (R.I.), Sherrod Brown (Ohio), Amy Klobuchar (Minn.), Heidi Heitkamp (N.D.), Joe Donnelly (Ind.), John Tester (Mont.), Bob Casey (Pa.), Bill Nelson (Fla.), and Joe Manchin (W.V.).
