New California Bill Would Allow Targets Of Recall Petitions To See Who Signed Them

Earlier this week, a bill that would allow California politicians facing recall petitions to see the signers cleared its first committee.

According to KTLA, the bill would take effect next year if passed, so it would not apply to the current recall election of Democrat Governor Gavin Newsom, but leaders of the Newsom recall came to the Capitol in Sacramento to oppose the bill, for the simple reason that it would be easily abused and discourage anyone from signing petitions in the future due to fear of retaliation.

However, the bill’s author, State Senator Josh Newman, defended the bill, saying that it would help make sure that voters would not be duped into signing petitions that they did not mean to. (Read more from “New California Bill Would Allow Targets Of Recall Petitions To See Who Signed Them” HERE)

This City Lost The Most Residents In The U.S. Last Year

A great many San Francisco residents moved out of the city over the last two years with a significant numbers of them heading to more conservative localities in Florida and Texas, new data shows.

Of all the major U.S. cities, the home to Democratic House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (Calif.) topped the charts for losing the most residents in 2019 and 2020, according to a study conducted by the CBRE Group, a Dallas-based commercial realty firm.

The study found that in 2020, a whopping 18 residents per 1,000 left the city, doubling 2019’s rate of 9 residents per 1,000. The mass exodus from San Francisco was clearly part of a trend over the last couple years as several other liberal metropolitan areas such as New York City, Boston, and Seattle followed behind.

Business Insider noted that while the bulk of residents exiting San Francisco ended up in other areas of California, like Sacramento, a sizable portion of them ended up across the country in redder states like Florida and Texas.

“The number of people who moved from San Francisco to Texas increased by 32.1% between 2019 to 2020, and the share of those who moved to Florida rose by a whopping 46.2%,” the news outlet reported. (Read more from “This City Lost The Most Residents In The U.S. Last Year” HERE)

Hundreds Of Male Transgender Inmates Being Transferred To Women’s Prisons In California

A California law that took effect this year has prompted hundreds of transgender prison inmates to put in a request to be transferred to a facility that aligns with their gender identity.

Since Jan. 1, 2021, some 261 such requests have been put in, according to the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR).

Though transgender inmates make up just over 1% of the Golden State’s prison population, the requests have led to heightened fears among women’s facilities that the supposed influx of transgender inmates will lead to increased sexual violence.

The Los Angles Times reported Monday that some prison guards have been telling female inmates that “men are coming” and to prepare for the worst.

According to the report, the state’s prison system has transferred four inmates to the Chowchilla women’s prison in Central California, approved 21 gender-based housing requests and denied none. Out of all 261 requests, only six requested to be housed in a men’s facility. (Read more from “Hundreds Of Male Transgender Inmates Being Transferred To Women’s Prisons In California” HERE)

Report: ‘Caitlyn’ Jenner Considers Run For California Governor

Caitlyn Jenner is reportedly considering a run for governor of California.

The Olympic gold medalist and transgender activist is speaking to political consultants, according to Axios, and could be a high-profile Republican challenger to Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom in a possible recall election.

One of the consultants Jenner is said to be in contact with is Caroline Wren, who has been a longtime fundraiser for the GOP.

The Washington Examiner attempted to reach Wren for comment on the matter but did not immediately hear back. Jenner and Wren declined comment for the initial report. (Read more from “Report: ‘Caitlyn’ Jenner Considers Run For California Governor” HERE)

California Shooting Leaves Four Dead, Including a Child

A child was killed along with three others in a Wednesday shooting at an office building in Southern California, leaving a fifth victim and the gunman critically wounded, according to police.

Authorities in the city of Orange, just southeast of Los Angeles, arrived at a two-story office building at around 5:30 p.m. to shots being fired, Orange Police Department Lt. Jennifer Amat told KTLA-TV.

Amat said at least one officer opened fire on the gunman, though police are still working to determine whether his wound was self-inflicted.

Inside the office building are multiple tenant businesses, including a mental health counseling services office, a State Farm insurance office, a financial consulting firm, a legal services firm, and a phone repair store. Shootings occurred on both floors of the building, Amat said.

The police department had no information on any alleged motive for the attack. Multiple victims were located at the scene, including a child fatally shot. Information on the child’s age or identifying information about others who were shot has yet to be released. (Read more from “California Shooting Leaves Four Dead, Including a Child” HERE)

California Democrat Changes Bill That Would Have Prohibited Christians, Conservatives From Serving in Law Enforcement

California State Assemblymember Ash Kalra eliminated language in his proposed bill AB 655, the California Law Enforcement Accountability Reform Act, that could have banned conservatives and people of faith from law enforcement. The Democratic lawmaker made the change on Friday. . .

“Under the guise of addressing police gangs, the bill at the same time launches an inexplicable, unwarranted, and unprecedented attack on peaceable, conscientious officers who happen to hold conservative political and religious views,” said Pacific Justice Institute Senior Staff Attorney Matthew McReynolds a few weeks ago. “Indeed, this is one of the most undisguised and appalling attempts we have ever seen, in more than 20 years of monitoring such legislation, on the freedom of association and freedom to choose minority viewpoints.”

Now that Kalra’s legislation has garnered national attention, he appears to be changing course. Speaking to KPIX CBS News on Friday, the San Jose assemblymember said, “We have put in amendments to remove the specificity regarding denial of constitutional rights. Because, you do have the First Amendment right to be part of groups that may differ in opinion.”

Nevertheless, Kalra still has not adequately addressed the persisting ambiguity of the claim that “participation in hate group activities, or public expressions of hate, as specified, and as those terms are defined” would “disqualify a person from employment.” The ultimate question remains. What will be defined as a hate group in the far-left stronghold? Welcome To California: Whites Excluded, Illegal Aliens Qualify for City’s $500 Month Payout Program

Oakland, California, Mayor Libby Schaaf (D) announced a program that offers poor minority families $500 a month. Poor white families are excluded for the sin of being white. However, illegal aliens qualify.

Per the Daily Mail, “An estimated 10,000 of Oakland’s 435,000 population are white residents who live in poverty,” but they will receive nothing, and only because they are white.

Here is how you qualify for Oakland’s no-questions-asked $500 a month:

You must have at least one child

Your income must be at or below 50 percent of Oakland’s median income

You must not be white

Disturbing New Bill Proposes Removing Cops Who Express Religious or Conservative Beliefs

A new bill introduced by California State Assembly Member Ash Kalra in San Jose would prohibit police officers from serving if they have used arbitrarily defined “hate speech” or are affiliated with a “hate group.”

The bill, known as the California Law Enforcement Accountability Reform Act (CLEAR Act), claims to combat “the infiltration of extremists in our law enforcement agencies” and would mandate a background check for all officers who have “exchanged racist and homophobic messages.”

Kalra claims that AB 655 is necessary to prevent “the apparent cooperation, participation, and support of some law enforcement” in the Jan. 6 Capitol breach.

The bill defines hate speech as “as advocating or supporting the denial of constitutional rights of, the genocide of, or violence towards, any group of persons based upon race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, or disability.”

Pacific Justice Institute Senior Staff Attorney Matthew McReynolds said this broad and purposefully arbitrary definition could give way for Christians and conservatives to be classified as “hateful” based on the premise of rejecting abortion or supporting Proposition 8 in California, a same-sex amendment that passed in 2008. California Cut This Restaurant’s Power, So the Owner Brought a Generator to Continue Business

A Los Angeles County court authorized the City of Burbank to disconnect electricity powering a restaurant that refused to shut down in compliance with extreme pandemic-related restrictions.

Tinhorn Flats refused to abide by a temporary restraining order issued March 8 that required the restaurant to remain closed because the restaurant violated COVID-19 restrictions, KTTV-TV reported. . .

Despite having no power, the restaurant has continued operations undeterred.

“The owner says they will continue to stay open and are currently using a generator as a power source,” KTTV reported.

Indeed, the restaurant said in a Facebook post on Sunday, “We are open and we will NOT comply.” (Read more from “California Cut This Restaurant’s Power, So the Owner Brought a Generator to Continue Business” HERE)

COVID Restrictions Had No Effect On Case Rates

Nearly a year after California Gov. Gavin Newsom ordered the nation’s first statewide shut down because of the coronavirus, masks remain mandated, indoor dining and other activities are significantly limited, and Disneyland remains closed.

By contrast, Florida has no statewide restrictions. Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis has prohibited municipalities from fining people who refuse to wear masks. And Disney World has been open since July.

Despite their differing approaches, California and Florida have experienced almost identical outcomes in COVID-19 case rates. . .

California and Florida both have a COVID-19 case rate of around 8,900 per 100,000 residents since the pandemic began, according to the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. And both rank in the middle among states for COVID-19 death rates—Florida was 27th as of Friday; California was 28th.

Connecticut and South Dakota are other examples. Both rank among the 10 worst states for COVID-19 death rates. Yet Connecticut Gov. Ned Lamont, a Democrat, imposed numerous statewide restrictions over the past year after an early surge in deaths, while South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem, a Republican, issued no mandates as virus deaths soared in the fall. (Read more from “COVID Restrictions Had No Effect On Case Rates” HERE)
