New NASA Data on Forest Fires, Deforestation Refutes Climate Alarmists

Newly released data from the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) refutes claims made by climate alarmists that forest fires are becoming more prevalent as a result of climate change and that the world is losing its forests.

“Any reader of the New York Times and other mainstream media outlet would be forgiven for believing that fires globally are on the rise, but they aren’t,” Forbes reported. “In reality, there was a whopping 25 percent decrease in the area burned from 2003 to 2019, according to NASA.”

“For the last 35 years, the world has been re-foresting, meaning new tree growth has exceeded deforestation,” Forbes continued. “The area of the Earth covered with forest has increased by an area the size of Texas and Alaska combined.”

Forbes reports that the main reason that forest fires are declining is because of economic development and urbanization since less land is being converted into ranches and farms, as technology continues to advance which allows farms to grow more food on less land.

The Forbes’ report, authored by energy reporter Michael Shellenberger, also examined how many in the media push manufactured narratives that lead people to believe that the climate is on the verge of collapse. Green New Deal Rep. Makes Insane Climate Change Remarks

On Thursday, policy director at New Consensus and one of the minds behind the Green New Deal, Rhiana Gunn-Wright, appeared on MSNBC with host Ali Velshi.

During the segment, Gunn-Wright compared the cost of not acting on climate change to the number of deaths that came about as a result of the Holocaust, times 25 (emphasis added):

VELSHI: A CNN/SSRS poll indicates that 82 percent of Democrats say that aggressive action on climate change is necessary. How do you … make the argument that [climate change] needs a separate discussion? Why not health care?

GUNN-WRIGHT: So, in the issues that you just brought up, climate change is one of the main drivers of our public health. So, the difference between, say, 1.5 degrees of warming – which is the least that folks think that we can get – to two, you’re talking about 150 million deaths. That’s 25 Holocausts, right? So, how is that not a health issue? How is that not about health care, right?

You’re talking about immigration. Climate change is going to bring hundreds of millions of climate migrants, of climate refugees, both from outside the U.S. and inside the U.S. as you see people move. So, even the issues that you outline, all of them are affected by climate change – and how you decide to deal with climate is how you decide to deal with all of these other issues.

Watch: Climate Warriors Are Asked How We Can Save the Planet. Their Answers Will Leave You Speechless.

By The Blaze. “Slightly Offens*ve” host Elijah Schaffer attended a climate change march in Los Angeles to ask attendees for their ideas in finding solutions for what they called the “climate catastrophe.” . . .

Here are some of their answers:

“All this travelling, constantly moving, by car, by plane, [is] wasting and putting all this crap out there in the air. There are diesel engines, or gas, or you know, there’s non-gas alternatives, and we can use all that.”

“Everybody knows that there’s a climate crisis, but what’s the solution? Elon Musk? He says let’s go to Mars, abandon Earth. Some people say let’s kill everybody. Let’s build a wall at the border because as the planet gets hotter people are going to want to escape violence and plagues and death and famine, and so come to the U.S. — so just build a wall, send people to camps, kill people and that’s a way to deal with the climate catastrophe. I think that morally that’s kinda f***ed up.”

“We talk about what’s happening to the environment. We talk about how we can change, you know. My family, like, we have a compost system, like we recycle, like I come to these marches. What was the question?”

Biden Nearly Flunks Climate Change on Greenpeace Report Card

By Bloomberg. Joe Biden got a D-minus on a climate change report card ranking Democratic presidential candidates released Thursday by the liberal environmental group Greenpeace.

Biden, the Democratic front runner, has yet to release a detailed plan on how he will combat climate change. But the scorecard evaluated 19 candidates on their commitments to ending the use of fossil fuels and support for environmental policies based on statements, legislative records and published plans. Some candidates also responded to a 29-question survey from the environmental group.

“If he wants to translate his front-runner status in the polls to actual leadership on climate, we need him to come out with a bold, concrete plan in line with the scale of the crisis we’re facing,” said Janet Redman, climate campaign director for Greenpeace USA.

The Biden campaign didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment. During a campaign swing in New Hampshire earlier this month, the candidate called for an “environmental revolution,” though he has yet join many of his Democratic campaign opponents in signing onto the Green New Deal. Woman Glues Her Breasts to the Ground in Protest Against Climate Change

By The Blaze. A climate change activist glued her breasts to the street in front of London’s Goldman Sachs on Fleet Street. . .

Climate change activists across London have been protesting going on two weeks, but one woman took her protest to the next level and glued her breasts to Fleet Street outside of Goldman Sachs.

The Sun reported that the woman — who was protesting with Extinction Rebellion — glued her top half to the road outside the global investment company Goldman Sachs.

Police arrived on the scene and surrounded the woman, removing her from the ground at one point. They erected screens to protect her modesty. Officers eventually led her away from the street. (Read more from “Woman Glues Her Breasts to the Ground in Protest Against Climate Change” HERE)

Extinction Rebellion: Nearly 1,100 Protesters Arrested

By BBC. Police cleared Extinction Rebellion’s final road block in Marble Arch earlier and arrested 22 people, bringing the total to 1,088 since protests began.

Specialist equipment has been deployed in Parliament Square to remove protesters camping in trees.

Makeshift camps at Oxford Circus and Waterloo Bridge were removed earlier in the week.

One protester told the BBC: “This is our last stand.”

Organisers said a closing ceremony would be held at 18:00 BST on Thursday at Speaker’s Corner, Hyde Park. (Read more from “Extinction Rebellion: Nearly 1,100 Protesters Arrested” HERE)

Trump’s New Interior Chief Confirmed Despite Dems’ Climate Change Fearmongering

The Senate confirmed President Trump’s latest nominee to head up the Department of the Interior by a vote of 56-41.

Three Senate Democrats — Martin Heinrich, N.M., Kirsten Sinema, Ariz., and Joe Manchin, W.V. — along with Independent Sen. Angus King, Maine, joined their Republican colleagues in voting for the nominee.

David Bernhardt will take over the job vacated by former Secretary Ryan Zinke in December and was confirmed despite vocal objections from Democratic lawmakers.

In addition to his record as an attorney and Interior Department official under President George W. Bush, Bernhardt also used to work as an energy lobbyist for a time. That portion of resume generated the bulk of his opposition from Democrats who claim that his supposed conflicts of interest disqualify him from the job.

Bernhardt’s confirmation hearing made a lot of headlines, not necessarily because of the nominee’s testimony, but because of an onlooker who wore a swamp monster mask in the chamber while it was happening.

Earlier this week, a group of over 50 House Democrats sent out a letter to their colleagues in the upper chamber, urging them to oppose Bernhardt’s nomination.

“As our climate crisis only grows in urgency and magnitude, it is more important than ever that we have a secretary who will defend and protect our natural resources and wildlife,” the letter reads. “Unfortunately, Mr. Bernhardt has a lengthy record of advancing corporate interests at the expense of the environment.”

Before the vote, Sen. Cory Gardner, R-Colo., took to the floor to defend Bernhardt against the accusations.

“Over the course of the last couple months, the Washington, D.C., political smear machine has been working overtime to sully a good man’s name,” Gardner said while touting Bernhardt’s background at the Department of Interior and his ethics record.

“This is not about Mr. Bernhardt’s ethics or his integrity or his qualifications,” Gardner later added. “It’s about the fact that he has been and will be effective at implementing an agenda that the other side doesn’t agree with. Because they know he will be effective at protecting our great outdoors and our public lands.” (For more from the author of “Trump’s New Interior Chief Confirmed Despite Dems’ Climate Change Fearmongering” please click HERE)

‘Birth Strike’ Founder Argues Future ‘Too Frightening’ for Her to Have Children Due to Climate Change

Climate change could trigger a “civilization breakdown,” a founder of the so-called “Birth Strike” movement warned on Tuesday night — saying she’s so afraid that she won’t have kids.

Blythe Pepino told Fox News’ “Tucker Carlson Tonight,” “I think where we are now is incredibly frightening. And, what I discovered when I made the decision and started talking about it to other young women around me was that we felt that we lost faith in the system and the authorities, because they weren’t really dealing with the situation. They weren’t managing the threat properly.” . . .

Pepino told Tucker Carlson her movement isn’t about stopping everybody from having children, but she and others are “too afraid” to do so.

“Yes, it is quite sad, but at the same time, Birth Strike itself is a hopeful act. What we’re trying to say is, ‘C’mon, we’ve got two options; either unite collectively behind action on this immediately because we’re already towards the collapse or we can resign ourselves to — I mean, it sounds crazy but it’s true — extinction,’” she added. Republicans Stop House Climate Change Hearing… Because Only Two Democrats Showed Up

Republicans shut down a hearing about climate change in the House of Representatives with a procedural vote that drives home the importance of just showing up.

House Democrats scheduled a hearing for Tuesday titled “The Denial Playbook: How Industries Manipulate Science and Policy from Climate Change to Public Health” for the Oversight and Investigations subcommittee of the House Natural Resources Committee.

The problem? More Republicans than Democrats showed up for the start of the hearing. So when Republicans wanted to call the whole thing off, Democrats didn’t have the votes to stop them.

I captured the highlights of the vote below, but full video of the short-lived hearing can be found here. (Action starts at 35:44.)

Rep. Louie Gohmert, R-Texas, moved to adjourn the hearing, saying that the subject of the hearing was “not within our jurisdiction.” The committee voted, and the motion to adjourn succeeded by a vote of 4-2.

Following the vote, subcommittee Chairman TJ Cox, D-Calif., formally adjourned the hearing but allowed the witnesses to testify in a “Democratic forum” on the subject.

For a political party whose members consistently warn about the apocalyptic dangers of climate change, not bothering to show up for a hearing is a really bad look. (For more from the author of “Republicans Stop House Climate Change Hearing… Because Only Two Democrats Showed Up” please click HERE)

Top 2020 Democrats Co-Sponsor Ocasio-Cortez’s Bonkers Green New Deal Plan

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., made a big splash Thursday after she rolled out the framework for a Green New Deal with Sen. Ed Markey, D-Mass. The plan, which calls for massive government intervention in the economy to bring America to “net-zero emissions” in 10 years, was introduced as a nonbinding resolution to state the intent of Congress to pass Green New Deal policies in the future.

This is not just the fever dream of Ocasio-Cortez. This plan is going mainstream in the Democratic Party, with no fewer than five 2020 presidential candidates co-sponsoring the resolution.

Sen. Cory Booker, D-N.J., and Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., are also co-sponsors of the Green New Deal resolution. Sanders has not officially declared his candidacy for president but is widely expected to do so.

Additionally, 60 Democrats in the House of Representatives are backing the Green New Deal, according to the Washington Post, and four more Democratic senators who are not running for president (yet) as well.

I took a look at the plan earlier and others have had a chance to read it too. The reviews are in: The Green New Deal, which all of these Democrats support, is NUTS.

And the plan to pay for it all?

Five of the top Democratic 2020 contenders are backing the Green New Deal. If any of them win the DNC nomination, this radical plan to overturn the American economy becomes a plank in the Democratic Party platform.

This is the big idea on the Left heading in to the 2020 presidential election. The question is, what’s the big idea on the Right? (For more from the author of “Top 2020 Democrats Co-Sponsor Ocasio-Cortez’s Bonkers Green New Deal Plan” please click HERE)

Judge Demolishes Leftist Theory That Climate Change Is to Blame for Deadly California Wildfires

By The Blaze. As massive wildfires ravaged dense areas of California last autumn, progressives and liberals alike placed blame for the tragedy on climate change. . .

The Washington Post dedicated an entire story to debunking claims made by President Donald Trump in which he blamed “forest mismanagement” for the deadly fires. That’s false, the Post declared, identifying climate change as the fire antagonist. . .

U.S. District Court Judge William Alsup ruled last Thursday that California utility company Pacific Gas and Electric was “the single most recurring cause” that contributed to devastating wildfires that burned millions of acres and led to the deaths of dozens of California residents. . .

Scott McLean, deputy chief of communication for the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection, told NBC the state determined PG&E was liable for 12 of 17 wildfires during the 2017 season, but has yet to rule on last year’s fires, including the Camp Fire, which killed 88. Judge says uninsulated power conductors caused California fires

By NBC News. A federal court in San Francisco tentatively found that equipment owned by Northern California utility Pacific Gas and Electric was “the single most recurring cause” in deadly wildfires that have plagued the state since 2017.

U.S. District Court Judge William Alsup made the finding Thursday in a case related to PG&E’s response to the deadly 2010 San Bruno gas pipeline explosion.

“The Court tentatively finds that the single most recurring cause of the large 2017 and 2018 wildfires attributable to PG&E’s equipment has been the susceptibility of PG&E’s distribution lines to trees or limbs falling onto them during high-wind events,” his order in the case reads.

“The power conductors are almost always uninsulated,” Alsup wrote. “When the conductors are pushed together by falling trees or limbs, electrical sparks drop into the vegetation below. During the wildfire season when the vegetation is dry, these electrical sparks pose an extreme danger of igniting a wildfire.” (Read more from “Judge Says Uninsulated Power Conductors Caused California Fires” HERE)

Democrats Are at Each Other’s Throats Over an Issue That Barely Got Mentioned in the 2018 Elections

The progressive bloc of House Democrats supporting a “Green New Deal” have a warning for their more moderate colleagues: Don’t get in the way of creating a “strong” climate committee. . .

New Jersey Rep. Frank Pallone and other top Democrats oppose creating a House climate change committee, preferring to shepherd any related legislation through the existing committee structure. Global warming wasn’t a top issue in the 2018 elections, but liberal Democrats are pushing for the House to put a major emphasis on the issue in 2019.

Khanna and Democrats supporting the so-called “Green New Deal” want a House climate committee that’s just as strong as others, meaning subpoena power and the authority to introduce bills.

The “Green New Deal” being pushed by incoming New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is backed by more than 40 Democrats. The plan calls for a House committee to draft “Green New Deal” legislation to move the U.S. to 100 percent green energy.

Pallone will chair the Committee on Energy and Commerce in 2019. He and other incoming committee chairs plan to hold hearings and introduce their own bills on global warming when they take the gavel next year. These incoming chairs don’t see the reason to create a whole new committee on the matter.
