Another Investigation Launched Over Congressman’s Relationship With Staffer

The House Ethics Committee said Thursday it is investigating U.S. Rep. Alcee Hastings’ relationship with his longtime girlfriend, who is on the government payroll.

The Ethics Committee didn’t identify the staffer in question, but the case clearly refers to Patricia Williams, the deputy director in Hastings’ office in his Broward-Palm Beach County district.

Williams, who is the Democratic congressman’s highest-paid staffer, and Hastings have been in a relationship for decades. And critics have raised questions about it for years.

But there’s been a sea change in society’s attitudes toward employer-employee relationships. The emergence of the #MeToo movement, in which powerful men in business, politics and the media came under new scrutiny for forcing women into sex, prompted a 2018 House rule change that prohibited sexual relationships between members of Congress and their employees.

There isn’t any indication that the Hastings-Williams relationship isn’t consensual, but the relationship appears to violate the rule that states a member of Congress “may not engage in a sexual relationship with any employee of the House who works under the supervision” of the member or on a committee on which the member serves. It doesn’t apply to couples who are married. (Read more from “Another Investigation Launched Over Congressman’s Relationship With Staffer” HERE)

Photo Appears to Show Sex-Scandal Congresswoman Has ‘Nazi-Era Tattoo’

A stunning photo of Democrat Rep. Katie Hill (CA) was revealed on Thursday that appeared to show that the freshman lawmaker has a “Nazi-era tattoo” on her waistline while she was naked, smoking a bong.

“Hill’s wild lifestyle has been laid bare in a cache of texts and intimate photographs obtained by DailyMail.com, as sources revealed Hill and Helsep also posted her naked photos online under a thread called ‘WouldYouF**kMyWife’,” The Daily Mail reported.

“The picture also shows an iron cross tattoo on Hill’s pubic area, similar to the symbols formerly used by white supremacists referencing a World War II Nazi medal.”

The Anti-Defamation League reports that the Iron Cross is “a famous German military medal dating back to the 19th century. During the 1930s, the Nazi regime in Germany superimposed a swastika on the traditional medal, turning it into a Nazi symbol. After World War II, the medal was discontinued but neo-Nazis and other white supremacists subsequently adopted it as a hate symbol and it has been a commonly-used hate symbol ever since.”

“The mainstream media has a blackout on this story, which is amusing. The press typically loves politicians embroiled in sex scandals,” a top Congressional GOP source told The Daily Wire. “But the perpetrator is a Democrat in a swing district, so the press will pretend like there’s nothing to see here.”

House Ethics Committee Launches Investigation Into Congresswoman’s Sex Scandal

The House Ethics Committee on Wednesday announced their intent to investigate freshman Congresswoman Katie Hill (D-CA) for having an extra-martial affair with a congressional staffer. The announcement was made after intimate photos of Hill were posted online without her consent.

The Committee is aware of public allegations that Representative Katie Hill may have engaged in a sexual relationship with an individual on her congressional staff, in violation of House Rule XXIII, clause 18(a). The Committee, pursuant to Committee Rule 18(a), has begun an investigation and will gather additional information regarding the allegations.

The Committee notes that the mere fact that it is investigating these allegations, and publicly disclosing its review, does not itself indicate that any violation has occurred, or reflect any judgment on behalf of the Committee. No other public comment will be made on this matter except in accordance with Committee rules.

Two weeks ago, our friends at RedState broke news that Hill was allegedly having an affair with her Legislative Director, Graham Kelly, and a throuple relationship with a female campaign staffer, whose name has yet to be released.

Hill has repeatedly said she’s going through a divorce from her abusive husband but text messages show Hill, her husband, Kenny Heslep, and the female staffer has an ongoing relationship. The husband admits in text messages to the campaign staffer that he and Hill abused her. (Read more from “House Ethics Committee Launches Investigation Into Katie Hill’s Sex Scandal” HERE)

U.S. Backup Plan Launched ‘to Force People of Faith to Abandon Beliefs’

By WND. Democrats in Congress already have staged a massive campaign to promote their Equality Act, which would impose the LGBT agenda on churches and faith-based organizations.

But now they’re working on a backup plan should the aggressive Equality Act fail.

It’s named the Do No Harm Act, but it would destroy protections for the exercise of religion by changing the federal Religious Freedom Restoration Act. The bill would make the exercise of religion in public life subservient to LGBT rights in all cases. . .

Democrats believe they can reverse the Supreme Court’s Masterpiece Cakeshop decision if the RFRA is changed. The ruling protected a Christian baker from being forced to violate his religious beliefs by creating a cake for a same-sex wedding.

While it claims to be the Do No Harm Act, it would allow LGBT activists to impose their religious “views, habits, or practices” on Christians or people of other faiths. (Read more from “Backup Plan Launched ‘to Force People of Faith to Abandon Beliefs'” HERE)

Congressional Democrats Reintroduce the Do No Harm Act

By NBC News. Congressional Democrats reintroduced on Thursday an amendment to the Religious Freedom Restoration Act (RFRA) that aims to ensure the 1993 legislation is not used to permit discrimination in the name of religion.

The Do No Harm Act states that RFRA “should not be interpreted to authorize an exemption from generally applicable law that imposes the religious views, habits, or practices of one party upon another.”

The measure — reintroduced by Rep. Joseph P. Kennedy III, D-Mass.; Rep. Bobby Scott, D-Va.; and Sen. Kamala Harris, D-Calif. — was first introduced in 2017 in response to the Supreme Court’s 2014 Burwell v. Hobby Lobby Stores decision. That landmark decision determined that under RFRA, for-profit companies could deny their employees insurance coverage for contraception if supplying such coverage was against the employer’s religious beliefs.

“We cannot be equal or free if our government grants select Americans a license to discriminate against their neighbors under the guise of religious freedom,” Rep. Kennedy said in a statement. “By passing the Do No Harm Act, we can reestablish the sacred balance between religious liberty and the personal liberties of those who have too often had their civil rights bargained away.”

RFRA was originally passed in 1993 in response to another controversial Supreme Court decision: Employment Division v. Smith. The case, which was decided in 1990, involved two Native American men who worked as private drug rehab counselors and were fired for ingesting peyote. Though the men argued they did so as part of religious ceremonies conducted by the Native American Church, the Supreme Court upheld their firing. Members of Congress Allegedly Sexually Harassed Night Shift Staff

Members of Congress allegedly sexually harassed night shift custodial staff as they cleaned their offices, according to a recent inspector general’s report on sexual harassment within the Architect of the Capitol.

The IG report, first reported by Roll Call, examines the Architect of the Capitol’s (AOC) response to sexual harassment complaints over the last 10 years. It includes allegations that workers endured sexual harassment by members of Congress and their staff. . .

It found 57 incidents of sexual harassment reported since 2008, 44 percent of which it says were substantiated. The report notes that it is a relatively low number, but the perception remains that harassment is a problem.

The IG said that it found “reluctance to cooperate” with the inquiry from AOC, and cited it as evidence of “cultural resistance and lack of transparency at all levels.” It blasted an “outdated cultural attitude” in some departments, which it said has set a tone of “permissibility.” . . .

The outlet notes that dozens of lawmakers reportedly sleep in their offices rather than rent an apartment, some sleep of mattresses, futons and murphy bed — meaning that night staff can possibly encounter lawmakers in states of undress. Cummings Threatens to Hold DOJ Official in Contempt of Congress If He Doesn’t Testify About Citizenship Question

House Oversight and Reform Committee Chairman Elijah Cummings (D-MD) warned Attorney General William Barr in a letter Thursday that if DOJ official John Gore doesn’t obey his subpoena and testify before the panel, they are prepared to hold him in contempt of Congress. The DOJ had previously informed Cummings that Gore will not appear unless he’s allowed to have an agency lawyer by his side.

“The Committee expects Mr. Gore to testify in accordance with the Committee’s lawful subpoena and the Committee’s rules,” Cummings wrote. “If Mr. Gore fails to comply with the subpoena, the Committee will consider him to be in contempt of Congress.”

Cummings indicated that the committee wants to glean information from Gore about the citizenship question that was added to the 2020 census under the direction of Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross.

The House Oversight Committee grilled Ross last month about the change, which he defended. Democrats like Rep. Jackie Speier (CA) asserted that Ross’s voting rights justification “was just a cynical pretext to trample on the rights of immigrants.” California was among the coalition of 17 states that sued the Commerce Department over the census change.

Conservative lawmakers, as you can imagine, have a whole different perspective. Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) came out with a report today accusing Democrats of “fear mongering” and added that the campaign Cummings is leading against the citizenship question is a “partisan investigation.” (Read more from “Cummings Threatens to Hold DOJ Official in Contempt of Congress If He Doesn’t Testify About Citizenship Question” HERE)

Former Democratic Staffer Who Doxxed Republicans Pleads Guilty — Here’s the Punishment He’s Facing

By The Blaze. A former staffer for a Democratic congresswoman has pled guilty to several counts related to his revealing personal information of several Republican members of Congress during the debate over Brett Kavanaugh’s Supreme Court nomination.

Jackson Cosko was arrested in October 2018 over his hacking that amounted to “an extensive computer fraud and data theft scheme,” according to prosecutors. . .

He could face up to two years in prison.

Cosko admitted that he stole information from congressional computers because he was angry over being fired by Democratic Senator Maggie Hasan (N.H.).

He burglarized her office several times in order to gain access to proprietary computer information, including personal information of several members of Congress. (Read more from “Former Democratic Staffer Who Doxxed Republicans Pleads Guilty — Here’s the Punishment He’s Facing” HERE)

Former Democratic Aide Arrested, Suspected of Leaking GOP Senators’ Personal Info

By The Blaze. Capitol Police have arrested the man suspected of releasing the personal phone numbers and home addresses of Republican senators during last week’s Senate Judiciary Committee hearing, according to The Hill.

Jackson A. Cosko, a former aide who has been employed by several Democratic congresspeople recently, was arrested and charged with making public restricted personal information, witness tampering, unauthorized access of a government computer, identity theft, second degree burglary, unlawful entry, and threats in interstate communication.

Last week, someone made anonymous edits to the Wikipedia pages of Sens. Lindsey Graham, Orrin Hatch and Mike Lee, as well as Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, while Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh was testifying before the Senate Judiciary Committee. Some of the information was inaccurate, according to The Washington Post. (Read more from “Former Democratic Aide Arrested, Suspected of Leaking GOP Senators’ Personal Info” HERE)

The Inferior Courts Have Crowned Obama President Forever. Will We Let Them?

If nothing else, the Trump administration will at least countermand the policies of the Obama administration that were enacted without Congress, right?

Well, not if we, as a body politic, agree to the Democrat judicial game of “heads we win, tails you lose.”

How would you describe this political dynamic? Even in the best-case scenario, with Republicans winning control of all branches of government, they won’t pass a single good piece of legislation that will have a meaningful effect on a single important issue. They will not fight on the must-pass budget bills because that would risk a government shutdown, which “Democrats always win.” Thus, a Republican president, Donald Trump in this case, is left with the items he can accomplish executively. But then any lower court at any time can shut that down and even force the president to continue the lawless policies of his Democrat predecessor, even when the Supreme Court recently ruled differently. And that is the outcome when Republicans are in charge.

I call that political checkmate. Excuse of 60-vote threshold + RINO leaders in Congress + unlimited royal powers accorded to any one of the 673 district judges = the Left winning all the important policy outcomes in the long run.

As conservatives continue to celebrate the Mueller victory, which clears an obstacle in the path of President Trump, it’s important to begin questioning what is it we ultimately hope and expect to accomplish during the next two to six years. The dream scenario for 2020 would be Republicans retaking the House and President Trump winning re-election. But unless conservatives change tactics, nothing will be different from the first two years of the Trump administration. Republicans will still be nowhere near 60 votes in the Senate, and at least half the GOP senators don’t support meaningful conservative ideas, Trump’s campaign promises, or both.

So that leaves us with executive actions taken pursuant to Trump’s inherent constitutional authority or delegated authority under statute. Well, the courts have “struck down” 63 administrative policies for anything meaningful Trump has tried to do … except for banning bump stocks, of course.

OK, so Trump can’t use his lawful authority to plow new ground, but he can at least countermand executive policies of his predecessors?

No, not if we continue to agree there is legitimacy in lower court universal injunctions. The courts have been allowed to indefinitely nullify numerous actions where Trump was merely rescinding Obama’s power grabs, from immigration and environment to labor and education. Just last week, the D.C. district court blocked the administration from issuing oil and gas leases for drilling on 300,000 acres of land because in the view of an Obama judge, the administration didn’t take into account “climate change.” So now the courts are codifying Obama’s drilling moratorium into law.

What this also demonstrates is that, even when Republicans are in charge, it’s not just that we are failing to make progress on the issues. We are sliding backwards. If we continue to agree to even lower court judicial supremacism, the courts will codify the Green New Deal, Medicare for all, and open borders into law long before Democrats have the political clout to implement them legislatively. And that way, Democrats won’t even face electoral reprisal for them, like what we saw following passage of Obamacare or what would likely happen if they pass amnesty. We now have almost all of Obama’s energy, environmental, education, and immigration policies codified into our case law, which will only grow in the courts over time.

On immigration, we have more of an open border than even under Obama, thanks to the courts. Illegal aliens will soon have more rights than Americans, and we will be stripped of any and every tool to preserve our border unless we reject lower court supremacism.

Nor is “appointing better judges” going to help. So long as the Left can go to any district court and shut down national policy, no matter the issues of standing, no matter the precedent, no matter the consequences, we are done as a nation. The Roberts Supreme Court has already shown its reluctance to rein them in, and even when they do, the Left comes back with new injunctions with slight nuances, or, in the case of a judge ordering Trump to accept transgender people in the military, downright defying the Supreme Court.

This creates a legal, policy, and political velocity for the Left to win 50-year cultural, fiscal, and social battles overnight in the courts.

What’s more, the most important circuit – the federal circuit in D.C. – is in Democrat hands for the next generation. Democrats have an 11-3 majority at the district level and a 7-4 majority at the appellate level. Most of the younger judges on the active bench are Obama appointees. Almost every single regulatory case dealing with Trump’s discontinuation of past administrative power grabs is routed to this circuit.

Just take the Department of Education, for example. Not only have Republicans, with full control, increased the Department’s funding levels to record levels, the courts are continuing all of Obama’s power grabs. As Politico reported last week:

Judges have rebuffed DeVos’ attempts to change Obama policies dealing with everything from student loan forgiveness to mandatory arbitration agreements to racial disparities in special education programs.

As a result, the Education Department is being forced to carry out Obama-era policies that the Trump administration had been fighting to stop — stymying DeVos’ efforts to quickly impose a conservative imprint on federal education policy over the past two years.

What this essentially means is that anything a Democrat president ever does is immutable, and the few things a Republican tries to do are pretty much toast, including those acts that merely reverse the Democrat policies. Checkmate.

There is nowhere for conservatives to run or hide. There are no clever tricks left to avoid the fight we need to have over judicial supremacy. Even if we are reluctant to push back against Supreme Court supremacism, eliminating the supremacism of lower courts, which stand below the political branches, not at all on equal footing with them, would solve most of the problems. Unless we are willing to pick that fight, everything conservatives fear about Bernie Sanders and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez will be implemented without a fight. It’s just a question of when. Congress To Vote On Yet Another Huge Spending Bill No One Has Read

Stop me if you’ve heard this one before: Congress rams through a massive piece of legislation costing hundreds of billions of dollars without bothering to read it. Meet Congress under a Democratic majority—same as under the old majority.

Late Wednesday evening, congressional leaders still had not publicly released their omnibus appropriations legislation, and were not planning to do so until near midnight—hardly an auspicious time to embark on reading a bill exceeding 1,000 pages:

. . .

Of all things, Politico reported that one of the major holdups preventing an earlier public release included provisions having nothing to do with government spending—or, for that matter, border security:

“Congressional leaders are still haggling over an extension of the landmark Violence Against Women Act—one of the final hold-ups in a funding deal to avert a shutdown on Friday….One dispute centers on a Democratic push to add protections for transgender people, which the GOP is resisting; meanwhile, Republicans want more time to negotiate a broader deal, according to lawmakers and aides.”

And particularly in this case, Democrats find giving people time to read the bill inconvenient. Even though government funds won’t expire until Friday at midnight—and Congress could always extend that funding temporarily, to allow for more time to review the bill—both chambers want to vote on Thursday. Because heaven forbid Congress 1) do actual work on a Friday and 2) delay their “recess” (read: vacation) and their overseas trips during same. (Democratic leaders claimed their members have been “sufficiently briefed”—because it’s very easy to “brief” someone on most, let alone all, of the contents of a 1,200 page bill.) Congressman Releases Disgusting Anti-Semetic Voicemail Left for Him

Republican Rep. Lee Zeldin of New York tweeted out an anti-Semitic voicemail left on his office phone Thursday afternoon. He tagged Democratic Congresswoman Ilhan Omar in the tweet, as the two of them have recently fought over their views on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

The caller said in part:

Everybody’s anti-Semitic when it comes to talking about you people who have murdered black people, systematically enslaved them. You’re occupying the Palestinian region. You’re worse than Hitler. You maggots and bloodsuckers. Get the hell out of Israel and take your a** on back to Europe. I get sick of you calling people anti-Semitic when they’re not. I’m calling you a hater of the Palestinians. You stop murdering them and maybe people will look at you like you’re decent people. Right now you’re nothing but animals. You know Hitler told you that right? You got my phone number, you got my zip code. You come after me if you want. I don’t give a f*** cause I hate you people for what you did to us as black people and I wish Hitler would have done his f***ing job.

“We got calls like this all day long today and many were worse than what was in that voicemail. I went through K-12, college, law school, and 4 years on active duty in the Army and I never once experienced anti-Semitism,” Congressman Zeldin told The Daily Caller. “In the last several years though this anti-Israel, anti-Semitic hatred is only increasing in American politics, on college campuses, and in the halls of Congress.”
