Federal Judge Blocks NYC’s School COVID-19 Vaccine Mandate

New York City’s COVID-19 vaccine mandate for teachers and other Department of Education staffers is on pause after a federal judge late on Sept. 24 granted a request to temporarily block it.

Plaintiffs, a group of teachers, asked for a temporary injunction, pending review by a three-judge panel on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit.

U.S. Appeals Court Judge Joseph Bianco, a George W. Bush nominee, granted the request in a one-page order.

The panel will now decide whether to impose an injunction pending appeal or allow the mandate to take effect.

NBA Player Denied Religious Exemption for COVID Vaccine

The NBA has denied Golden State Warriors forward Andrew Wiggins’ request for a religious exemption from San Francisco’s coronavirus vaccine mandate, meaning that he will be ineligible to play home games unless he gets the shot.

“The NBA has reviewed and denied Andrew Wiggins’ request for a religious exemption from the San Francisco Department of Public Health’s order requiring COVID-19 vaccination for all participants age 12 and older at large indoor events,” the NBA said in a statement Friday. “Wiggins will not be able to play in Warrior home games until he fulfills the city’s vaccination requirements.”

The San Francisco Department of Public Health said Friday that everyone at least 12-years-old, including Warriors players, must be vaccinated if they wish to even enter the Chase Center and does not allow for medical or religious exemptions. A negative COVID test also will not be accepted in place of proof of vaccination.

Researchers Predict Steady Decline in COVID Cases Through March — Without Any ‘Significant Winter Surge’

A group of researchers that advises the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention predicted this week that the worst of the COVID-19 pandemic could be over — and said that a steady decline in confirmed coronavirus cases through March could very well be on the horizon.

The pandemic, according to a consortium of researchers advising the CDC, appears to have either peaked or be close to peaking, as they predict cases will fall this autumn and into the winter months.

The Delta variant surge also appears to be peaking nationally, according to the group’s predictions, and the country is reportedly not likely to see a “significant winter surge.”

A Wednesday report from NPR noted, “For its latest update, which it will release Wednesday, the COVID-19 Scenario Modeling Hub combined nine different mathematical models from different research groups to get an outlook for the pandemic for the next six months.”

Justin Lessler of the University of North Carolina — who helps to run the hub — told the news organization, “Any of us who have been following this closely, given what happened with Delta, are going to be really cautious about too much optimism. Study: Monoclonal Antibodies Massively Reduced Risk of Hospitalization Among High-Risk COVID-Positive Individuals

Treatment with two monoclonal antibodies lowers the odds of hospitalization for high-risk COVID-19 patients with mild to moderate illness, according to a new study.

“Our conclusion overall at this point is that monoclonal antibodies are an important option in treatment to reduce the impact of COVID-19 in high-risk patients,” said senior author Dr. Raymund Razonable, an infectious diseases specialist at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn.

The combination of casirivimab and imdevimab has emergency use authorization from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.

The study included 696 COVID-19 patients treated with the combo at the Mayo Clinic between December 2020 and early April 2021, and an equal number of patients who didn’t receive it. . .

By The Blaze. Thousands of New Yorkers protested against vaccine mandates on Saturday. A diverse crowd demonstrated in New York City against the government’s COVID-19 vaccine mandate orders in a protest dubbed the “rally for freedom,” which was a part of a worldwide demonstration.

A diverse crowd marched through the streets of New York City on Saturday; some waved American, Gadsden, and LGBTQ flags. Other demonstrators were holding signs that read: “My body, my choice,” “Latinos against forced vaccines,” “God is with us,” and “LGBTQ people for medical freedom.” . . .

One featured speaker at the freedom rally quoted President Joe Biden, who said earlier this month, “What more do you need to see? We’ve made vaccinations free, safe and convenient. We’ve been patient, but our patience is wearing thin. And your refusal has cost all of us.”

The speaker told the demonstrators, “Joe Biden, your patience is wearing thin? We lost our patience!”

The crowd reacted by chanting, “F*** Joe Biden!”

Times Square Swarmed by Hundreds Protesting COVID Vaccine Mandate, Chanting ‘F— Joe Biden’

By Fox News. Hundreds of protesters took to the streets in New York City’s Times Square Saturday to protest coronavirus vaccine mandate requirements.

Protesters could be seen waving flags and signs on Saturday with many of them chanting against mandatory vaccines. . .

The event was part of the “World Wide Rally For Freedom” which took place in cities across the globe including in Australia where protesters clashed with police in videos posted to social media.

“We will push back against widespread propaganda, by producing our own media, and advancing our own narrative, instead of succumbing to the one being pushed on us. We will not accept the rampant politicization of science and medicine, and we will return these institutions to being neutral sources of information for the benefit of society, over government and corporate interests,” a press release about Saturday’s event reed on the organizers’ website. COVID Vaccine Found To Affect Periods, Prompting New Investigation

Since the rollout of COVID-19 vaccines, thousands of women in the UK have been saying that their periods have been disrupted, say experts.

After more than 30,000 women said their menstrual cycle being somewhat altered after getting the COVID-19 vaccine, reported Sky News.

The UK’s Yellow Card scheme, where people can voluntarily report their side effects to any medication – including vaccinations – has shown that many women have seen a disruption in their periods.

Dr. Victoria Male, a Reproductive Immunologist from Imperial College London, wrote in the British Medical Journal that while these changes are safe and short-lived, has stated that an investigation as to why this happens is crucial.

Men Beware: Males More Likely To Face Severe Outcomes Following Double Vaccination

. . .Researchers have calculated the risk of severe infection among different groups of individuals using a tool based on existing datasets.

The tool is able to accurately predict those most at risk of serious outcomes from 14 or more days after a second vaccination dose.

It revealed than older people, men, and individuals from ethnic background are more likely to be admitted to hospital or die after receiving two shots of the vaccine against COVID-19, according to researchers.

Other groups at greater risk of severe COVID-19 were care home residents and individuals with underlying conditions including kidney disease, sickle cell disease, HIV/Aids, Down’s Syndrome and liver cirrhosis. Bombshell Study: This Drug Can Block Multiple COVID-19 Variants

In a recent study published in Science Immunology, researchers found that the drug diABZI—which activates the body’s innate immune response—was highly effective in preventing severe COVID-19.

The findings suggest that diABZI could also treat other respiratory coronaviruses.

The study is from the University of Pennsylvania. One author is Sara Cherry, Ph.D.

The SARS-CoV-2 virus initially targets epithelial cells in the respiratory tract. As the first line of defense against infection, the respiratory tract’s innate immune system recognizes viral pathogens by detecting their molecular patterns.

“Fox News Sunday” anchor Chris Wallace pressed National Institutes of Health Director Francis Collins about President Joe Biden’s push for COVID-19 booster shots.

Wallace spoke with Collins about Biden’s plan — which would have all Americans begin receiving booster shots eight months after their initial vaccine doses — and the fact that the FDA had voted only to recommend boosters for those over 65 or with weakened immune systems.

Wallace argued that Biden had gotten out ahead of the experts when he suggested that booster doses of the Pfizer vaccine would be available for all Americans in the coming days only to have the FDA advisory panel vote that down, 16-2.

“Back during the campaign, he talked a lot about ‘follow the science.’ Isn’t announcing a specific date and a specific plan for the general population before any of the regulars — the FDA, the CDC — have approved it, isn’t that the exact opposite of ‘follow the science’?” Wallace challenged. CNN: Start Shaming Stupid Unvaccinated People

CNN host Don Lemon lit into the “stupid” Americans who have weighed the risks and decided not to take the experimental COVID-19 vaccines, declaring “it’s time to start shaming them.”

Lemon was chatting Wednesday night with fellow CNN host Chris Cuomo during the handover to “Don Lemon Tonight.”

“I think we have to stop coddling people when it comes to this and the vaccine, saying, ‘You can’t shame them. You can’t call them stupid. You can’t call them stupid.’ Yes, they are!” he said. . .

“The people who aided and abetted Trump are stupid because they believed his Big Lie. The people who are not getting vaccines — who are believing the lies on the internet instead of science — it’s time to start shaming them … or leave them behind, because they are keeping the majority of Americans behind,” Lemon said.
