Papers Please: NYC Proof of Vaccination Program Also Requires People To Show ID ‘to Help Reduce Fraud’

A proof of vaccination mandate in New York City requires certain establishments to make people furnish proof that they have received at least one COVID-19 vaccine dose in order to enter. This applies to indoor dining at restaurants, indoor movie theaters, indoor gyms, and more.

But in addition to the proof of vaccination requirement, people must also provide a form of identification.

“I hereby order that a covered entity shall not permit a patron, full- or part-time employee, intern, volunteer, or contractor to enter a covered premises without displaying proof of vaccination and identification bearing the same identifying information as the proof of vaccination,” Mayor Bill de Blasio’s emergency executive order states.

“‘Identification’ means an official document bearing the name of the individual and a photo or date of birth. Examples of acceptable identification include but are not limited to: driver’s license number, non-driver government ID card, IDNYC, passport, and school ID card,” the order explains.

While the order took effect on Tuesday, the section of the order detailing fines for businesses who are non-compliant will not take effect until Sept. 13.

Massive Nurse Shortage Hits Major City—Weeks After 150 Unvaccinated Nurses and Hospital Workers Fired

Jennifer Bridges knew what was coming when her director at Houston Methodist hospital called her up in June to inquire about her vaccination status.

Bridges, a 39-year-old registered nurse, responded “absolutely not” when asked if she was vaccinated or had made an effort to get vaccinated. She was terminated on the spot. . .

Bridges was one of more than 150 hospital workers fired by Houston Methodist hospital. . .

Shepherd and her colleagues may be disposable in the eyes of hospital administrators, but they are perhaps not as easily replaced as she or Houston Methodist thought.

Two months after firing unvaccinated hospital staff, Houston Methodist is one of several area hospitals experiencing a severe shortage of medical personnel. Trump Booed at Rally After Telling Supporters To Get Vaccinated

Former President Donald Trump was booed at a rally on Saturday in Alabama after telling supporters they should get vaccinated.

“And you know what? I believe totally in your freedoms. I do. You’ve got to do what you have to do,” Trump said. “But, I recommend: take the vaccines. I did it. It’s good. Take the vaccines.”

Some boos rang out from the rally crowd, who were largely maskless.

“No, that’s okay. That’s all right. You got your freedoms,” Trump said, echoing rhetoric from opponents of mask and vaccine mandates. “But I happen to take the vaccine. If it doesn’t work, you’ll be the first to know. Okay? I’ll call up Alabama, I’ll say, hey, you know what? But [the vaccine] is working. But you do have your freedoms you have to keep. State Apologizes for ‘Fat-Shaming’ To Encourage Vaccination

The Delaware Division of Public Health has issued an apology for a vaccination memo that some people believed was fat-shaming to encourage vaccination.

WBOC-TV reports that Delaware’s health department issued an apology following the controversy spurned on by the ad.

The since-deleted ad — which was shared to the department’s Facebook page — read, “Remember when you gained 10 pounds from stress eating? … You would have to run five miles a day for a week just to lose one pound of fat.”

The ad continued, “#GettingVaccinated sounds a lot easier. Protect yourself and those you love from the #Delta variant. #VaxxUpDE.” Following outcry, the agency pulled the ad from its social media page and issued an apology. . .

In a statement, a spokesperson for the agency said, “We have updated an early post promoting vaccination. We understand some were offended by the post and we sincerely apologize for our word choice. It was not intentional. State to Require Employees to Get Vaccine or Wear Two Masks

All city employees will also have to provide proof that they have been vaccinated against the coronavirus, according to a press release from the Philadelphia Department of Public Health, which details the new policies.

“All City employees will be required to provide proof that they’ve completed their schedule of COVID-19 vaccinations , new employees hired must be fully vaccinated a condition of their employment, and employees who are not fully vaccinated by September 1 will be required to wear two masks (a cloth mask over a disposable or surgical mask) at all times while working on-site,” the press release read.

The statement also boasts of the effectiveness of vaccines.

“Being vaccinated against COVID-19 results in an eight-fold reduction of risk if you’re fully vaccinated compared to when you are not. If you’re fully vaccinated, you have a 25-fold reduction of your risk of being hospitalized or dying from COVID. The COVID vaccines protect people very well and are the best way to avoid a severe enough infection that could end up in hospitalization,” the press release read.

It’s Official! Biden Admin Wants COVID Jabs Every Eight Months

U.S. health officials on Wednesday formally recommended booster shots for fully vaccinated individuals after 8 months of their vaccine series.

In a joint statement attributable to officials at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the National Institutes of Health (NIH), National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), and White House COVID-19 Response team, public health officials admitted they are beginning to see “evidence of reduced protection against mild and moderate disease” in those who have been vaccinated:

Based on our latest assessment, the current protection against severe disease, hospitalization, and death could diminish in the months ahead, especially among those who are at higher risk or were vaccinated during the earlier phases of the vaccination rollout.

The statement recommended booster shots, which they said are “needed to maximize vaccine-induced protection and prolong its durability.” . . .

Teen Suffers Heart Attack Days After Receiving COVID-19 Vaccine; Fully Vaccinated Americans Dying of COVID-19

By Danielle Ong. A 16-year-old boy in Singapore suffered a heart attack just days after receiving a shot of the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine.

Singaporean medical investigators said the teenager developed acute severe myocarditis six days after receiving his first dose of Pfizer’s COVID-19 vaccine. He later suffered a heart attack.

“The myocarditis was likely a serious adverse event arising from the COVID-19 vaccine he received, which might have been aggravated by his strenuous lifting of weights and his high consumption of caffeine through energy drinks and supplements,” the Ministry of Health (MOH) said Monday in a press statement, according to Yahoo News.

The teenager is now recovering and is undergoing inpatient rehabilitation before he can resume his activities. Officials at the MOH said the boy is expected to be discharged in the coming weeks.

“The independent clinical panel appointed to assess and adjudicate the VIFAP application found that while he has made good improvement, because his condition was severe and critical, he will require treatment and rehabilitation for some time yet to continue his recovery,” the ministry said. 12 Fully Vaccinated Texans Die Of COVID-19

By Danielle Ong. dozen people in El Paso, Texas, have now died from COVID-19 despite being fully vaccinated against the virus, according to authorities.

Health department officials from El Paso on Monday reported that 14 individuals have died of COVID-19 over the past week, including one fully vaccinated individual. All of the residents who died had underlying health conditions, which authorities did not identify.

Most of the fatality victims were men between the ages of 40 to 90. Two of the 14 victims were women in their 70s, according to KVIA.

El Paso has now reported 12 coronavirus-related deaths involving people who have been fully vaccinated against the virus. Overall, the city’s health officials have reported 2,744 deaths, including the unvaccinated.

Report: Hospital Removed Sick Patients From Transplant Wait List After They Refused to Get the COVID Vaccine

A hospital in Washington state has reportedly removed multiple sick patients from its transplant wait list over their decision not to receive a coronavirus vaccine.

Conservative Seattle radio host Jason Rantz reported Tuesday that the University of Washington Medical Center has kicked “several patients” off its organ transplant list in recent months, citing an unofficial policy requiring transplant recipients to be vaccinated against the pathogen.

One of the patients, Derek Kovick, a 41-year-old man in need of a liver transplant, informed Rantz of the controversial hospital policy last week. Then shortly after, another patient, 64-year-old Sam Allen, came forward with his own story.

Allen, who suffers from a litany of heart-related medical conditions, told the radio host he had been on the hospital’s wait list for a heart transplant for more than two years. But in June, after doctors discovered that he was unvaccinated and had no plans to change that, he was informed that he would no longer be in line for the transplant. . .

“The cardiologist called me, and we had a discussion, and he informed me that, ‘Well, you’re going to have to get a vaccination to get a transplant.’ And I said, ‘Well that’s news to me and nobody’s ever told me that before.’ And he says, ‘Yeah, that’s our policy,'” Allen recalled. Professor Granted Vaccine Exemption After ‘Natural Immunity’ Lawsuit

After filing a lawsuit arguing he obtained “natural immunity” from COVID-19 after being infected with the novel coronavirus, George Mason University granted a professor a medical exemption from its COVID-19 vaccine mandate.

Lawyers for Todd Zywicki, a law professor at the Fairfax, Virginia, university, announced the agreement Tuesday, the Washington Post reported.

“I am gratified that George Mason has given me a medical exemption to allow me to fulfill my duties this fall semester in light of unprecedented circumstances,” Zywicki said.

A spokesman for George Mason University declined comment on any medical accommodation, citing “state policy regarding personnel information and confidentiality of health information.”

Venue Says Vaccine Policy Was ‘Miscommunicated’ to Christian Broadway Star

There’s a new plot twist in the saga of musical star Laura Osnes exiting a Hamptons show over its vaccination policy.

Guild Hall in East Hampton now says there was a “miscommunication” of its policy to Osnes — which led her to pull out of an upcoming one-night-only performance of director Susan Stroman’s “Crazy For You.” . . .

But Osnes then refuted that she was offered the choice to submit a negative test, posting on Instagram, “I would have tested in a heartbeat… something I have been doing for months, and will continue to do, in order to keep working safely.”

But Guild Hall told us on Wednesday: “Unfortunately, there was a miscommunication of our policy, and Laura Osnes voluntarily opted out of the one-night-only performance. She was graciously doing this event as a charitable gesture to Guild Hall, and for this we are grateful.
