HHS Mandates COVID Vaccine for Employees

The Department of Health and Human Services plans to mandate coronavirus vaccines for more than 25,000 of its frontline health workers, the third federal agency – after the Departments Of Defense and Veterans Affairs – to do so amid a resurgence of the virus and a stubborn reluctance among some Americans to get the shots.

Secretary Xavier Becerra announced Thursday that workers at the National Institutes of Health and Indian Health Service who treat or come in contact with patients will be required to take the vaccines.

Surgeon General Vivek Murthy will also require coronavirus shots for members of the Public Health Service Commissioned Corps, which aims to promote public health and provide health care to underserved communities.

Unlike President Joe Biden’s announcement last month ordering federal workers to attest to their vaccination status or submit to regular coronavirus testing, workers covered by the HHS order will be required to get vaccinated. (Read more from “HHS Mandates COVID Vaccine for Employees” HERE)

WHO Scientist Says Chinese Pressured Investigation Team to Drop Lab-Leak Theory

“Follow the science,” right? Probably not the best advice when the science is tainted because of pressure from a Communist government to manipulate the conclusion.

The WHO sent a team of “blue-ribbon experts” to China in order to investigate the origins of COVID-19. The investigation is vital to discovering how the coronavirus responsible for the disease made the leap from infecting animals to infecting humans. Knowing which animal was responsible could lead to better treatments for COVID, more effective vaccines, and perhaps clues to how we can stop the next pandemic from starting. . .

Now a new Danish documentary on the man who headed up the team, Peter Ben Embarek, and the WHO team’s efforts has revealed the not-very-startling information that the Chinese government directly interfered in the writing of the final report.

A discussion of whether to include the lab-leak theory at all lasted until 48 hours before the conclusion of the mission, Ben Embarek told the Danish reporters. In the end, Ben Embarek’s Chinese counterpart eventually agreed to discuss the lab-leak theory in the report “on the condition we didn’t recommend any specific studies to further that hypothesis.”

Asked in the documentary whether the report’s “extremely unlikely” wording about the lab-leak theory was a Chinese requirement, Ben Embarek said “it was the category we chose to put it in at the end, yes.” But he added that this meant it was not impossible, just not likely.

Border Patrol: Recruits Kicked From Academy After Refusing COVID Vaccinations

The National Border Patrol Council (NBPC), the labor union representing rank and file agents, says a new policy by the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC) resulted in recruits being removed from training for refusing vaccinations. The recruits were attending training at the United States Border Patrol Academy in Artesia, New Mexico.

According to the NBPC, the policy will also require future recruits to provide proof they are fully vaccinated prior to training. According to the NBPC, those who are partially vaccinated or none at all removed until full compliance is met.

In a statement from Local 2509 President Jeffery Hammes, many of the recruits refused the vaccine despite being briefed on the consequences. One Popular COVID Vaccine Found More Effective Against Delta Variant

Early findings posted ahead of rigorous peer review suggested the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine declined to 42% effectiveness against infection amid sweeping spread of the delta variant, with the Moderna vaccine declining to 76%.

Researchers at the Mayo Clinic and Cambridge-based biotech company nference posted the retrospective study in medrxiv this week, drawing from tens of thousands PCR tests conducted at the Mayo Clinic and affiliated hospitals across nearly half a dozen states.

The study period analyzed samples from January to July, when either the alpha or delta variant was a highly prevalent strain; “the Delta variant prevalence in Minnesota increased from 0.7% in May to over 70% in July whereas the Alpha variant prevalence decreased from 85% to 13% over the same time period,” the preprint reads.

While results indicated the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines were highly effective against COVID-19 infection (76%, 86%, respectively) and hospitalization (85%, 91.6%) the effectiveness against infection dropped by July to 42% and 76%, respectively.

Further findings indicated that people vaccinated with Moderna’s shot were half as likely to develop a breakthrough infection, compared to recipients of the Pfizer vaccine. What’s more, researchers found that Florida residents fully vaccinated with Moderna’s shot faced a 60% lower risk of infection when compared to Pfizer recipients. Also, across all states, the Moderna vaccine cut COVID-related hospitalizations by about half the rate compared to the Pfizer vaccine. Poll: Americans Support Vaccine Mandates and Passports

A new poll conducted by Fox News shows that Americans are generally receptive to the idea of vaccine passports and mandates.

Fifty percent of respondents to the poll said that they favor cities and towns requiring all customers and workers to have proof of a coronavirus vaccine for “indoor activities such as restaurants, gyms and performances,” compared to 46% who opposed. Forty-four percent said they were more likely to shop at a store that required customers and workers to be vaccinated, or have a recent negative COVID-19 test, compared to just 24% who were less likely.

Fifty percent of those polled said “protecting the safety of Americans” by requiring the vaccine to participate in everyday activities was more important than “protecting the freedom” of Americans to choose whether or not they are vaccinated. Forty-seven percent of respondents said the latter is more important.

City Passes Vaccine Requirement for Indoor Public Spaces

The Los Angeles City Council unanimously voted on Wednesday to require proof of getting the Chinese coronavirus vaccine in order to be allowed indoors at restaurants, gyms, and other spaces, according to a report.

The vote was to direct the city attorney to draft an ordinance requiring patrons who wish to enter any indoor public spaces to have at least one dose of the vaccination, according to KTLA. As of now, it is unclear how the ordinance will look, but the attorney will have to prepare a draft for the city council to approve then.

The motion for the ordinance was introduced last week by Council President Nury Martinez and Councilman Mitch O’Farrell. It will apply to restaurants, bars, retail establishments, fitness centers, spas, and entertainment centers like stadiums, concert venues, and movie theaters, according to the report.

Martinez, in a statement, said:

It’s our responsibility to protect the public, that includes protecting them from the unvaccinated. … The decision to not get vaccinated doesn’t just affect you. We have kids under the age of 12 who are not eligible for the vaccine yet, and someone’s decision to not get vaccinated affects them as well.

Pediatrics Group Urges FDA OK of COVID-19 Vaccines in Younger Kids

The American Academy of Pediatrics is urging the FDA to quickly expand authorization of COVID-19 vaccines to younger age groups, citing rising cases due to the fast spreading delta variant and risk of poor outcomes following infection.

“We need to be approaching the trials and authorization of the COVID vaccine for children with the same urgency that we did with adults,” Dr. Lee Savio Beers, president of the AAP, told ABC co-hosts. “Just as it’s a serious disease in adults, it can be a very serious disease in children.”

Pfizer has said it intends to request emergency approval for use of its vaccine in kids aged 5 to 11 by the end of September, with plans to submit data on younger kids aged 6 months to 5 years “shortly thereafter.” The FDA had requested drugmakers behind authorized COVID-19 vaccines broaden the size of pediatric clinical trials to better detect for rare adverse events. Moderna previously told Fox News that it expects “to have a package that supports authorization in winter 2021/early 2022” for kids under 12. Reports have noted agency officials intend to see the first shots in kids under 12 by winter or early 2022.

17 Vaccines Mandated by the US Military Before COVID-19 Shots

The Department of Defense has announced plans to add the coronavirus vaccine to the list of mandated vaccines.

Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin said on Monday that he will seek the president’s approval to mandate the COVID-19 vaccine by mid-September if the Food and Drug Administration doesn’t approve it before then. This will mark the 18th vaccine to be mandated for the armed forces, though it’s unlikely that a service member would receive all of them because many are location-specific, a spokesperson for the Department of Defense told the Washington Examiner on Tuesday.

The Defense Department’s vaccine mandates are separated by the combatant commands that divide the globe into seven entities: Africa Command, Central Command, European Command, Indo-Pacific Command, Northern Command, Northern Command, and Space Command.

There are nine vaccines that are mandated for military members in any of the six earthbound commands: chickenpox, hepatitis A, hepatitis B, MMR, pneumococcal, rabies, Tdap, typhoid, polio, and influenza, according to the Military Health System.

Pentagon to Mandate Vaccine for Military Members, With or Without FDA Approval; Here Are the Companies Requiring Proof of COVID Vaccine

By The Federalist. Amid the spread of the delta variant and Democrats pushing the notion that more lockdowns are imperative, the Biden administration confirmed Monday that all members of the United States military are required to get vaccinated against the coronavirus by Sept. 15.

“I will seek the president’s approval to make the vaccines mandatory no later than mid-September, or immediately upon” the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approving them, “whichever comes first,” Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin wrote in a memo to troops Monday, unveiling the mandate.

Austin also wrote, “I will not hesitate to act sooner or recommend a different course to the President if l feel the need to do so. To defend this Nation, we need a healthy and ready force.”

There are 1.3 million active-duty troops. Here Are the Companies Requiring Proof of COVID Vaccine

By Yahoo News. The number of companies requiring Covid-19 vaccination for their workers continues to increase as the Delta variant raises new safety concerns.

United Airlines, Microsoft, Uber, Jefferies Group, and Tyson all announced vaccination policies for their office and in-person workforce. Some states are also requiring certain state employees to get vaccinated.

They follow last week’s announcements from Big Tech. Facebook and Google both said U.S.-based staffers must provide proof of Covid-19 vaccination, while Twitter confirmed to Forbes that it requires in-person employees to prove their vaccination status after the company closed its headquarters and delayed its reopening plans.

Restaurateur and Union Square Hospitality Group CEO Danny Meyer also announced last week that not only employees but patrons who wish to dine indoors at the group’s full-service restaurants in New York City and Washington, D.C., will be required to show proof of vaccination beginning September 7. . .

Short of mandates, companies and organizations alike are also offering cash incentives and on-site vaccinations to help ramp up vaccinations among their workers. Others have warned of penalties for staying unvaccinated, like the National Football League which is fining unvaccinated athletes nearly $15,000 for every pandemic safety measure infraction.
