Flights Canceled After Christmas Day Due to COVID

Hundreds of flights have been canceled across the U.S. as the Omicron COVID-19 variant strikes down plane crews and workers over the Christmas weekend.

As of Sunday morning, some 633 flights within, into or outside the U.S. were canceled, according to the data tracking website FlightAware.

The data tracking website added that 531 flights into, out of or within the U.S. had been delayed.

Companies blamed the number of cancellations on the number of staff who had become infected with COVID-19 over the Christmas weekend and, therefore, had called in sick. (Read more from “Flights Canceled After Christmas Day Due to COVID” HERE)

COVID Lab Incorrectly Informed Patients They Tested Negative

A COVID-19 testing lab in Australia has apologized after it mistakenly informed more than 400 patients that they tested negative for the virus when they were positive.

St. Vincent’s Hospital in Sydney on Sunday said the false notification was sent through its pathology service, SydPath, to patients who had taken the test on Dec. 23 and 24.

“SydPath last night incorrectly messaged more than 400 people, advising them they had tested negative to COVID,” the hospital said. “These people had tested positive to COVID.”

The hospital said the incident was under investigation.

“An emergency response team is now investigating the cause of this mistake, which is believed to be human error,” the statement said. “We sincerely apologized to those impacted.” (Read more from “COVID Lab Incorrectly Informed Patients They Tested Negative” HERE)

Spot the Symptoms: How Omicron Differs From Other COVID Mutations

As the Omicron variant spreads across the globe and the US, where cases are doubling roughly every two days, the importance of identifying early signs of infection are more crucial than ever, especially as holiday travel starts to ramp up.

While early evidence suggests Omicron appears to sicken people less severely than those who contract the Delta variant, the most commonly reported symptoms are cough, fatigue, congestion and a runny nose, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

The new variant, first identified in South Africa on Nov. 24, has also been linked to causing intense night sweats and mild muscle aches, but appears to differ from the Delta strain, which generally causes a high fever and a loss or change in smell or taste.

Omicron’s impact on smell and taste appears to be uncommon, infectious disease specialists told NBC News while noting the preliminary findings were not based on scientific studies. (Read more from “Spot the Symptoms: How Omicron Differs From Other COVID Mutations” HERE)

Are Cow’s Milk and Over-The-Counter Drugs the Simple Key to Crush COVID?

A pair of widely available over-the-counter compounds has been found in preliminary tests to inhibit the virus that causes COVID-19, according to University of Florida health researchers.

The effective ingredients are diphenhydramine, the key ingredient in the antihistamine Benadryl, and lactoferrin, the protein found in cow’s milk. . .

However, the lead researcher, Dr. David A. Ostrov, cautions that while the early indications are hopeful, human trials have not been conducted.

And more importantly, no one should try to treat COVID-19 with their own concoction of lactoferrin and diphenhydramine or Benadryl.

The type of lactoferrin used in the research is not the same type that is commonly available to consumers for treating stomach and intestinal ulcers. And Benadryl has other inert ingredients along with diphenhydramine. (Read more from “Are Cow’s Milk and Over-The-Counter Drugs the Simple Key to Crush COVID?” HERE)

Biden’s Bounty on Your Life: Hospitals’ Incentive Payments for COVID-19

Upon admission to a once-trusted hospital, American patients with COVID-19 become virtual prisoners, subjected to a rigid treatment protocol with roots in Ezekiel Emanuel’s “Complete Lives System” for rationing medical care in those over age 50. They have a shockingly high mortality rate. How and why is this happening, and what can be done about it?

As exposed in audio recordings, hospital executives in Arizona admitted meeting several times a week to lower standards of care, with coordinated restrictions on visitation rights. Most COVID-19 patients’ families are deliberately kept in the dark about what is really being done to their loved ones.

The combination that enables this tragic and avoidable loss of hundreds of thousands of lives includes (1) The CARES Act, which provides hospitals with bonus incentive payments for all things related to COVID-19 (testing, diagnosing, admitting to hospital, use of remdesivir and ventilators, reporting COVID-19 deaths, and vaccinations) and (2) waivers of customary and long-standing patient rights by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). . .

Creating a “National Pandemic Emergency” provided justification for such sweeping actions that override individual physician medical decision-making and patients’ rights. The CARES Act provides incentives for hospitals to use treatments dictated solely by the federal government under the auspices of the NIH. These “bounties” must paid back if not “earned” by making the COVID-19 diagnosis and following the COVID-19 protocol. . .

A “free” required PCR test in the Emergency Room or upon admission for every patient, with government-paid fee to hospital.

Added bonus payment for each positive COVID-19 diagnosis.

Another bonus for a COVID-19 admission to the hospital.

A 20 percent “boost” bonus payment from Medicare on the entire hospital bill for use of remdesivir instead of medicines such as Ivermectin.

Another and larger bonus payment to the hospital if a COVID-19 patient is mechanically ventilated.

More money to the hospital if cause of death is listed as COVID-19, even if patient did not die directly of COVID-19.

A COVID-19 diagnosis also provides extra payments to coroners.

There’s a Giant, Mysterious Gap in the Omicron Variant’s Family Tree

. . .So how did omicron rack up so many mutations on its spike proteins, without any intermediate steps of evolution through other variants? Scientists have theories about how that happened, though none are comforting.

First, note that mutations are, to some degree, expected of a virus. As the novel coronavirus began to lose battle after battle to human immune systems and due to human ingenuity (vaccines), the “survivor” viruses tended to be the ones that mutated to effectively ward off human efforts at immunity. Those survivors then pass those traits to the offspring viruses it creates through replication. Thanks to genetic technology, researchers have been able to study those mutant strains and learn about SARS-CoV-2’s “family tree,” so to speak — that is, the relationship between all the variants that stemmed from one another.

Here’s where it gets weird. There is a big gap in the omicron variant’s timeline.

Sequence characteristics in any virus’ genome can be matched in databases with other strains so experts can deduce their origins. Scientists trace these family trees to learn more about a virus’ lineage, and in the hope that this information will help them defeat it. Yet the most recent identifiable sequences on the omicron variant’s genome originate from over a year ago, all the way back to the middle of 2020. This means that scientists cannot link it to currently circulating strains. Yet they know for sure that this strain is very different from the original SARS-CoV-2 strain that brought the world to its knees at the beginning of 2020. . .

One hypothesis is that it developed in an immunocompromised COVID-19 patient. While there is no direct evidence that this happened, scientists do know that viruses can become stronger in the body of a person with a weak immune system, because they circulate for longer — continuing to mutate as they evade the patients’ weakened immune system. A virus that circulates for months in the body of an immunocompromised patient might be able to develop superior survival skills by developing defenses against human antibodies. Report: Mild Omicron Variant Now a Majority of U.S. COVID Cases

The omicron variant now makes up a majority of COVID-19 cases in the United States, at 73.2 percent, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said in updated figures released on Monday.

The statistics are for the week ending Dec. 18 and show the rapid spread of the variant in the U.S. That spike is a significant increase from just 12.6 percent of cases one week earlier.

The omicron variant is highly transmissible, and officials are bracing for a large wave of infections in the coming weeks. However, people who are vaccinated, and especially those with booster shots, are well protected against severe disease from the variant, experts say, meaning the greatest risk is for the unvaccinated. CAPITOL OUTBREAK: Three Dems in Congress Test Positive for COVID-19

A pair of U.S. senators and one House member announced Sunday they tested positive for COVID-19.

Sens. Elizabeth Warren and Cory Booker, both Democrats, announced their diagnoses on Twitter, followed by Rep. Jason Crow, a Democrat from Colorado. All three said they are fully vaccinated and boosted and have mild cases.

The positive tests come as the omicron variant of COVID-19 quickly spreads across the United States and the rest of the world, feeding a winter surge in cases and accompanying wave of new restrictions meant to stop the spread.

Trump: China Must Pay For COVID Origins — ‘They Have to Pay Reparations’ (VIDEO)

During an appearance on this week’s “Sunday Morning Futures,” President Donald Trump argued China should be held accountable for its role in the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic. . .

“I think the origins are so obvious,” he said. “They came out of the Wuhan lab. And I think if anybody thinks anything differently, they’re just kidding themselves. So, you can ask — China has to pay. They have to do something. They have to pay reparations. And China doesn’t have the money to pay those reparations. I believe that worldwide — I’m not just talking United States — worldwide, $60 trillion of damage, $60 trillion.” (Read more from “Trump: China Must Pay For COVID Origins — ‘They Have to Pay Reparations’ (VIDEO)” HERE)

Enough of the Hysteria: Americans Refuse to Obey Mandates in the Name of Fighting COVID

Americans are increasingly done with mandates in the name of fighting COVID. After almost two years, most have gone back to their pre-pandemic lives and just won’t obey orders from the hysteria echo chamber.

Consider Gov. Kathy Hochul’s recent mask-or-vax mandate. More than 30 New York County executives have publicly refused to enforce it, using terms like “Gestapo tactics” and “mask police.”

And not just Republican execs: The Democrats in charge of Nassau and Suffolk counties balked, too.

Other leaders are backing off on mandates because the rank-and-file won’t play along. Take President Joe Biden’s beloved Amtrak, which rescinded its mandate, set to hit Jan. 4, that would’ve forced 17,000 employees to get vaccinated or go on unpaid leave.

And the Los Angeles Unified School District postponed its vaccine mandate until Fall 2022 after realizing 28,000 students would be barred from in-person classes. (Read more from “Enough of the Hysteria: Americans Refuse to Obey Mandates in the Name of Fighting COVID” HERE)
