U.S. Tops 7M COVID-19 Cases

The United States surpassed 7 million coronavirus cases Friday, roughly eight months after the first case was reported by Johns Hopkins University.

California leads the country with over 800,000 total cases, followed by Texas, Florida, and New York. Meanwhile, cases are surging in the Midwest in all states except Ohio, led by South Dakota, with more than 8,000 new cases, while North Dakota’s new cases doubled to 8,752 as compared to four weeks ago.

The rate of new cases is up 9% since last week, with an average of more than 43,000 new cases every day. Roughly 700 people have died each day in the past week, making the total number of deaths over 203,400, according to Johns Hopkins University data.

Former hot spots Arizona, New York, New Jersey, and California have all seen declining new case rates. (Read more from “U.S. Tops 7M COVID-19 Cases” HERE)

WATCH: Mother Arrested and Tased for Not Wearing Mask at Son’s Middle School Football Game Held Outside

A woman was tased and arrested at a football game after she reportedly refused to wear a face mask. Unbelievable video shows a mother in the stands during her son’s middle school football game getting into a physical altercation as a police officer struggles to arrest her in Logan, Ohio.

According to the Ohio Star, Alecia Kitts drove an hour and a half to watch her son’s middle school football game. While she was rooting for the visiting team from the Marietta City School District, she was reportedly approached by a police officer for not wearing a face mask. In the video, Kitts appears to be properly socially distancing from other families in the stands, which is outside.

The encounter gets physical as the police officer attempts to arrest the mother, and she resists. The woman repeatedly tells the officer to “get off of me!”

She screams, “You’re not arresting me for nothing, I ain’t doing nothing wrong!”

After two minutes of struggle, the police officer is seen tasing the woman.

Predicted Mass Infections From Reopening Schools Fails to Materialize

Last month, we were inundated with stories from teachers’ unions, school administrators, and public health officials about the coming catastrophic outbreak of coronavirus in the schools. . .

It still might get very bad as large school districts begin to reopen, but so far, the number of infections among K-12 students has been far less than public health officials feared.

Washington Post:

Thousands of students and teachers have become sick with the coronavirus since schools began opening last month, but public health experts have found little evidence that the virus is spreading inside buildings, and the rates of infection are far below what is found in the surrounding communities.

This early evidence, experts say, suggests that opening schools may not be as risky as many have feared and could guide administrators as they charter the rest of what is already an unprecedented school year.

“Everyone had a fear there would be explosive outbreaks of transmission in the schools. In colleges, there have been. We have to say that, to date, we have not seen those in the younger kids, and that is a really important observation,” said Michael Osterholm, director of the Center for Infectious Disease Research and Policy at the University of Minnesota.

Mask Fanatics Have Officially Abandoned Science to Control Your Life

It’s nothing new for political religions to produce radicals that develop their own sects or cults. This time around, rigid devotion to enforcing mask compliance has produced runaway fanaticism based on nothing but blind faith that more mask-wearing is always better. Even the public health experts, whom these followers all promoted as great prophets just months ago, can’t tame their fervor.

That’s a problem, because a return to normalcy will require subduing radical factions that agitate for oppression. Restrictions such as mask mandates are like oxygen to followers of radical fundamentalist Covidianism — the abiding belief that only lockdowns, social distancing, and masks can deliver us from the deadly pandemic. The longer mandates stay in place and experts continue promoting mask use — “My mask protects you! Your mask protects me!” — the stronger and more widespread the extremism will grow, and the less influence experts will have over their behavior.

The evidence is abundant, but consider these three cases of radical Covidianism and how they trace back to an abandonment of the scientific standards necessary to maintain public health and a functioning society. . .

First, Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer signed an executive order last week requiring all nonprofessional sports players to wear masks. Athletes, except for swimmers, must wear masks while “training for, practicing for, or competing in an organized sport” if they cannot “consistently maintain 6 feet of distance.” There are no age-specific exceptions in the requirement, so it appears Whitmer’s mask mandate for children five years old and over applies.

Not only does this order contradict guidance from so-called experts, who say that people exercising should not wear masks because sweat can clog the mask fibers and make breathing difficult as well as “promote the growth of microorganisms,” but it overwrites Whitmer’s own order specifying that masks do not have to be worn during exercise “when wearing a face covering would interfere with the activity.” (Read more from “Mask Fanatics Have Officially Abandoned Science to Control Your Life” HERE)

Woman Says She Was Kicked off Plane After 2-Year-Old Son Refused to Wear Mask

A Portsmouth woman said she and her 2-year-old son were kicked off an American Airlines flight because the boy refused to keep his mask on.

Rachel Davis said that on the two flights to her business trip to Florida, nobody said anything about her son not wearing a mask. But that changed Thursday on the final leg home from Charlotte to Manchester. . .

In an Instagram post, the Portsmouth single mom detailed what happened when her son refused to wear a mask as she boarded the flight.

“I tried repeatedly, begged him, bribed him, pleaded with him, did everything I could while he was screaming and crying as I tried to hold him and put the mask on,” she wrote. . .

“They were telling me, ‘If you don’t get him to wear the mask, we will not be able to take you on this flight,'” Davis said. (Read more from “Woman Says She Was Kicked off Plane After 2-Year-Old Son Refused to Wear Mask” HERE)

Joe Biden: 200 Million People Have Died From COVID-19 in U.S. (VIDEO)

Joe Biden said during a campaign speech in Philadelphia that about 200 million people have died of the coronavirus in the US — or nearly two-thirds of the population — though the number is just shy of 200,000.

“If Donald Trump has his way, the complications from COVID-19, which are well beyond what they should be — it’s estimated that 200 million people have died — probably by the time I finish this talk,” the Democratic presidential nominee said Sunday, according to Fox News.

Biden made a similar comment when he added several extra zeroes to the nation’s coronavirus death toll during a campaign stop in Pennsylvania in June. . .

“This is after he previously claimed 150 million Americans died from guns,” the Trump war room said recently, referring to Biden’s bungling of statistics about how many Americans had been killed by gun violence since 2007 during a February debate with Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders.

‘Beyond a Doubt’: COVID-19 Pandemic Could Have Been Prevented If China, WHO Acted

The coronavirus pandemic likely “could have been prevented” if the Chinese government acted more transparently and the World Health Organization wasn’t “complicit in the spread and normalization” of their propaganda during the outbreak’s early days, an audit from the House Foreign Affairs Committee reportedly says.

The 96-page document authored by Republicans in the committee — which the New York Post says it exclusively obtained Monday before its planned release — also reportedly calls for the resignation of WHO director-general Tedros Adhanom over his “detrimental impact on the COVID-19 response.”

“It is beyond doubt that the Chinese Communist Party actively engaged in a cover-up designed to obfuscate data, hide relevant public health information, and suppress doctors and journalists who attempted to warn the world,” it said, according to the New York Post.

“Research shows the CCP could have reduced the number of cases in China by up to 95 percent had it fulfilled its obligations under international law and responded to the outbreak in a manner consistent with best practices,” it added, while also saying “it is highly likely the ongoing pandemic could have been prevented.” . . .

The document also accuses WHO of ignoring warnings from Taiwan and Hong Kong about the risk of human-to-human transmission and then falsely claiming for weeks that Chinese researchers found “no evidence” of that happening, the New York Post reported. City Hid COVID-19 Info From Public to Continue Lockdown Restrictions

In a disturbing revelation, emails discovered by local press show that Nashville’s leadership hid information about the virility of the COVID-19 virus in order to keep city lockdowns in place.

According to Fox affiliate, WZTV in Nashville, Tennessee, emails between the Mayor’s senior advisor and the Health Department show that information was given to them about the Coronavirus that showed cases resulting from bars and restaurants were incredibly low. City leadership’s reaction was to keep this away from the public’s view and keep the city in an unnecessary lockdown:

On June 30th, contact tracing was given a small view of coronavirus clusters. Construction and nursing homes were found to be causing problems with more than a thousand cases traced to each category, but bars and restaurants reported just 22 cases.

Leslie Waller from the health department asks, “This isn’t going to be publicly released, right? Just info for Mayor’s Office?”

“Correct, not for public consumption,” writes senior advisor Benjamin Eagles.

COVID-19 Pandemic May Permanently Replace Workers With Robots

The coronavirus pandemic is accelerating the trend of robots replacing humans in the workplace, which could result in a recovery from recession that nonetheless costs jobs, according to a new report.

Workers whose jobs can be done by machines suffered more layoffs per capita than those with jobs that aren’t as easily automated, the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia said in a report released Monday. People of color were especially harmed, possibly because of their concentration in service jobs at risk of automation.

The report noted that most job losses during the health crisis are expected to be temporary. Yet, cashiers, hotel staffers, parking attendants, and others are at risk of permanently losing work if companies become satisfied with labor-saving technology, or if fears over future pandemics convince firms to stick with machines. The report added that previous recessions resulted in technology replacing laid-off workers too, leading to “jobless recoveries.”

There has already been anecdotal evidence that the coronavirus has exacerbated job losses to machines. Besides harming business balance sheets, COVID-19 has forced companies to limit contact between customers and employees. The result has been hotels replacing humans with self-check-in kiosks, meatpacking plants deploying slaughterhouse robots, and call centers using artificial intelligence to hold conversations. The study specifically cited the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission, which went cashless and laid off 500 toll workers. Devastating: A Majority of COVID-19 Lockdown Business Closures Are Permanent

By CNBC. Yelp on Wednesday released its latest Economic Impact Report, revealing business closures across the U.S. are increasing as a result of the coronavirus pandemic’s economic toll.

As of Aug, 31, 163,735 businesses have indicated on Yelp that they have closed. That’s down from the 180,000 that closed at the very beginning of the pandemic. However, it actually shows a 23% increase in the number of closures since mid-July.

In addition to monitoring closed businesses, Yelp also takes into account the businesses whose closures have become permanent. That number has steadily increased throughout the past six months, now reaching 97,966, representing 60% of closed businesses that won’t be reopening.

“Overall, Yelp’s data shows that business closures have continued to rise with a 34% increase in permanent closures since our last report in mid-July,” Justin Norman, vice president of data science at Yelp, told CNBC.

Yelp’s September report marks six months since March 1, the date that the company considers to be the beginning of the business crisis. (Read more from “A Majority of COVID-19 Lockdown Business Closures Are Permanent” HERE)

Trump, Biden Spar Over COVID-19 Vaccine Development

By Newsweek. Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden claims President Donald Trump could be rushing the development of a COVID-19 vaccine to score political points in the November election, while Trump’s allies are accusing Biden of promoting “anti-vaccine conspiracy theories.”

The fight over the monumental scientific undertaking is one of many between Trump and Biden related to the nation’s coronavirus response, but new polls suggest that public confidence in vaccines may be taking the biggest blow as the two political rivals brawl. . .

During a town hall discussion hosted by ABC News Tuesday, Trump said he believes a vaccine could be ready for distribution in a matter of weeks.

“We’re very close to having a vaccine,” he told ABC’s George Stephanopoulos. “Could be three weeks, four weeks.” (Read more from “Trump, Biden Spar Over COVID-19 Vaccine Development” HERE)
