‘Politically Motivated’: Former Trump Official Sues Over DOJ Subpoena of His Personal Email Account Data

Former Trump administration official Kash Patel filed a lawsuit last week over the Department of Justice (DOJ) and the FBI’s “politically motivated” effort to obtain a subpoena for his personal email account data in 2017.

Patel, who at the time was the investigator leading the House Intelligence Committee’s probe into FBI and DOJ conduct in the Crossfire Hurricane investigation, alleges the DOJ violated separation of powers and his Fourth Amendment rights when it sought a subpoena of his personal email account in 2017. The lawsuit names seven individuals who were officials at the time, including FBI Director Chris Wray and former U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia Jessie Liu, as defendants.

“Rather than seeking to obtain information openly from Mr. Patel’s official accounts, which would have provoked an immediate response and legal fight with the United States House of Representatives, DOJ instead sought—non-publicly and unconstitutionally—to access his private accounts through a third-party subpoena,” the lawsuit alleges. “They did so to avoid public scrutiny, because they were improperly investigating the man who was investigating them.”

Patel’s work on the Committee was instrumental in uncovering details related to the Steele dossier financed by the Democratic National Committee and Clinton campaign, which led to the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) warrants to be used against former Trump advisor Carter Page. Drag Queen Scheduled to Perform at House Democrats’ Retreat Called Biden ‘Senile’

During the House Democrats’ retreat this week, a Wednesday night reception hosted by Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee chair Sean Patrick Maloney will include “musical entertainment by Lady Bunny,” according to a copy of the Issues Conference schedule posted by the Daily Caller.

“While her mind may be in the gutter, Lady Bunny’s quick-witted humor is authentic, smart, irreverent, and topical,” a portion of the biography on ladbybunny.net states. “In her disarming honeyed drawl, she astutely skewers political correctness, calls out gentrification outrage, spit-roasts politicians, taunts vaunted celebrities, and schools audiences on the unique legacy of New York City drag.”

The drag performer — whose birth name is Jon Ingle, according to the New York Times — identifies as a “staunch progressive” but has previously been openly critical of Democrats, including President Joe Biden.

“Biden is senile, conservative, accused by 8 women and a frequent liar. It takes a cult of personality to support someone that pitiful,” Lady Bunny tweeted last year.

In January, Lady Bunny commented on the prospect of another Hillary Clinton presidential bid by declaring, “If Dems go this route, they are begging to lose. What will the slogan be? ‘We know Joe’s a corporate hawk and a liar. Freaky: Dems Want Phone Companies to Police Text Messages for Vaccine Misinformation; This COVID Vaccine Is Linked To Rare Nerve Syndrome

By Daily Caller. The Democratic National Committee reportedly wants Short Message Service (SMS) carriers to step in and police private text messages as part of a new push against COVID-19 vaccine misinformation.

Allies of President Joe Biden, including the DNC, plan to “engage fact-checkers more aggressively” and work alongside phone companies to combat misinformation about vaccines shared via social media and private SMS messages, according to a Monday report from Politico.

White House officials are particularly frustrated with the characterization by some Republicans of their door-to-door pro-vaccination campaign, according to the report.

One example SMS message cited by Politico was sent by conservative activist group Turning Point USA, in which co-founder Charlie Kirk falsely contends that “Biden is sending goons DOOR-TO-DOOR to make you take a Covid-19 vaccine. Sign the petition to: No medical raids in America.”

“When we see deliberate efforts to spread misinformation, we view that as an impediment to the country’s public health and will not shy away from calling that out,” White House spokesman Kevin Munoz told Politico. FDA Attaches Warning of Rare Nerve Syndrome to Johnson & Johnson Vaccine

By New York Times. The Food and Drug Administration warned on Monday that Johnson & Johnson’s coronavirus vaccine can lead to an increased risk of a rare neurological condition known as Guillain–Barré syndrome, another setback for a vaccine that has largely been sidelined in the United States.

Although regulators have found that the chances of developing the condition are low, they appear to be three to five times higher among recipients of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine than among the general population in the United States, according to people familiar with the decision. The warning was attached to fact sheets about the vaccine for providers and patients.

Federal officials have identified 100 suspected cases of Guillain-Barré among recipients of Johnson & Johnson’s one-dose shot through a federal monitoring system that relies on patients and health care providers to report adverse effects of vaccines. Ninety-five percent of those cases were considered serious and required hospitalization, the Food and Drug Administration said. The reports are preliminary. Murdered DNC Employee Bombshell: Someone ‘Wanted to Pay or Actually Paid a Lot of Money’ to Murder Him

The FBI, in its release of heavily redacted documents regarding murdered Democratic National Committee employee Seth Rich, has included a cryptic “pay for his death” note.

Rich was the DNC employee who was shot and killed as he walked to his Washington, D.C., home at about 4 a.m. on July 10, 2016. There was evidence of a struggle, with his hands, knees and face bruised, yet he had two shots in his back. Police determined it was a robbery, but his wallet and other items were not taken. Two weeks later, WikiLeaks began releasing DNC emails damaging to Hillary Clinton, and WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange mentioned Rich on Dutch TV: “Whistleblowers go to significant efforts to get us material and often very significant risks. There’s a 27-year-old, works for the DNC, was shot in the back, murdered just a few weeks ago for unknown reasons as he was walking down the street in Washington.”

Now, One America News reports the FBI’s release of records in reponse to a Freedom of Information Act request “appear to show that an undisclosed entity either wanted to pay or actually paid a lot of money to get Seth Rich killed.”

An FBI document dated Nov. 7, 2017, states: “Given [redacted] it is conceivable that an individual or group would want to pay for his death.” . . .

There is a reference to a “Dark web threat,” and the explanation is: “A company called [redacted] was conducting research for an unrelated, non-law enforcement client and came upon a site called [redacted]. This site listed [redacted] as a target. On November 5, 2017, [redacted] felt an obligation to take action so they notified NYPD who in turn, contacted the Boston Regional Intelligence Center (BRIC). FBI Cited Tweet From DNC Operative’s Sister in Analysis of the Steele Dossier’s Most Explosive Allegation

FBI analysts relied on a tweet from the sister of a DNC operative as part of its analysis into the Steele dossier’s most explosive allegation: that the Kremlin was blackmailing Donald Trump with a videotape of him with prostitutes in Russia.

An FBI spreadsheet declassified last week and released on Monday shows that investigators cited an allegation from author and activist Andrea Chalupa.

Chalupa’s sister, Alexandra Chalupa, was a contractor for the Democratic National Committee through at least June 2016. The two sisters have been staunch critics of President Trump, and have helped push the since-debunked allegation that the Trump campaign conspired with Russia to influence the 2016 election.

The spreadsheet, which the FBI provided to two Senate committees, provides the first glimpse inside the FBI’s attempts to prove or disprove allegations in the dossier, which was compiled by former British spy Christopher Steele on behalf of the Clinton campaign and DNC. . .

Criminal Justice Activist Donna Hylton, Featured in DNC Video, Was Convicted for Role in Grisly 1985 Murder

Donna Hylton was known as inmate #86G0206 for 27 years.

She was behind bars for her role in the grisly murder and torture of Thomas Vigliarolo, a balding New York businessman found stuffed inside a steamer trunk and left to rot in Harlem. Hylton and six others let him die “in the most heinous circumstances,” the prosecutor said at their trial in 1985. On Thursday, the Democratic National Committee (DNC) hailed Hylton as one of “America’s most impactful community leaders” and asked her to participate in a video reading of the Preamble to the Constitution during a televised portion of the convention.

Her appearance has left some people puzzled and others furious, wondering why the DNC would rally behind a woman who was involved in the brutal rape, torture and murder of a 62-year-old man. . .

One user wrote, “Did anyone notice listed under the DNC’s “America’s most impactful community leaders” was Donna Hylton? She’s a classy 55-year-old woman convicted for the kidnapping, rape, torture and murder of a 62-year-old Long Island real estate broker in 1986.”

Twitter user @Covidhomeschool weighed in: “You are the furthest thing from a Christian. Pretend all you want about loving Jesus. People who torture and murder do not go to heaven. There is no making up for what you did. Yet, you are monitizing [sic] off it! Just shows how you really are not sorry. “On March 20, 1985, Donna Hylton and three female accomplices drugged and kidnapped 62-year-old Long Island real estate broker Thomas Vigliarolo at the behest of Louis Miranda, who thought Vigliarolo had cheated him out of $139,000 on a mutual con in which the two allegedly sold shares in New York City condos and pocketed the money. The kidnappers held Vigliarolo prisoner for 15–20 days. During that time, three men and four women, including Hylton, starved, burned, beat, sexually assaulted/raped, and tortured him. On April 5, 1985, with Hylton asleep in the next room, Vigliarolo died of asphyxiation. Three days later, his body was found locked in a trunk in a Manhattan apartment”

Tulsi Gabbard Snubbed by DNC

Rep. Tulsi Gabbard (D-HI) confirmed Thursday night, just before the last night of the Democratic National Convention, that she was completely snubbed by the party, despite being a Democrat presidential candidate and receiving delegates.

“You’re correct — I was not invited to participate in any way,” Gabbard tweeted, in response to an apparent supporter who reminded viewers that candidates who receive delegates traditionally are offered a speaking slot but Gabbard was not given a slot.

The supporter added: “Although I doubt she would have accepted, the lack of invitation once again exposes the blatant DNC bias and Hillary Clinton proxies that have pursued Tulsi this entire time.”

Harris says the Coronavirus is “not an equal opportunity offender.” She says it is not a coincidence–it is because of “structural racism.” She speaks of injustices in reproductive health care and racial biases in criminal justice system. She says the virus has no eyes but it knows how we see and treat each other.

Harris says “there is no vaccine for racism. We’ve gotta do the work. For George Floyd. For Breonna Taylor… and for our children and all of us.” She says “none of us are free until all of us are free.” . . .

[Barack] Obama says he has sat in the Oval Office with Trump and Biden. He says he never expected Trump to continue his policies but he expected Trump to take some interest in taking the job seriously. That he might come to feel the weight of the office and discover some reverence for the democracy that was put in his care. But Trump never did. . .

Sen. Elizabeth Warren says working people have taken one gut-punch after another because of COVID. She’s focusing on child care and says she likes plans and Biden has plenty. Warren talks about an economic system being rigged to bail out billionaires and kick dirt in the face of everyone else. Warren says Biden will make the wealthy pay their “fair share” and hold corporations accountable.

[Hillary] Clinton says people tell her every day they did not know how dangerous Trump was and wishes they had voted in 2016. Hillary says we now know what we have to lose if we vote for Trump.

WATCH: DNC Committee Omits ‘Under God’ From the Pledge of Allegiance

By The Federalist. A Democratic National Convention moderator omitted sacred words from the Pledge of Allegiance during a panel discussion Tuesday: “under God.”

During the Muslim Delegates Assembly, the video of the livestreamed event shows A.J. Durani led the pledge but left out an important part, saying, “I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the republic for which it stands, one nation, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.” Durani was elected to be a super delegate for the 2016-2020 term of the Democratic National Committee.

The pledge has included the phrase “one nation under God” since Congress passed a law, signed by President Dwight D. Eisenhower, in 1954 to add it to the recitation. So, regardless of this 2020 panel’s objectives, the official pledge includes the religious phrase. “Under God” was added largely in response to the Cold War era’s threats of communism and the ideas of Marxist-Leninist countries. Ironically, many leaders of the Democratic Party are once again advocating Marxism through revisionist history and the Black Lives Matter organization. Trump Hammers DNC Committee for Omitting God from Pledge

“The Democrats took the word GOD out of the Pledge of Allegiance at the Democrat National Convention. At first I thought they made a mistake, but it wasn’t. How Traitor John Kasich Managed to Infuriate Everyone With His DNC Antics; Top DNC Speaker Made Millions Lobbying for Russia; Republican Women Trash Trump

By Townhall. . .You were already on the outs with the party, Mr. Kasich. And now, you’re not only endorsing Joe Biden for president—you’re speaking at their convention. I don’t know what is going through Kasich’s mind—I don’t. Does he think that somehow, after a Biden win, the GOP will go back to the days of old? Those days are gone. They’re over. Finished. All of those people who were uncomfortable with Trump have either retired or resigned. The Republican Party is now a right-wing populist party. And if you were paying attention, it’s a party that still mostly advocates close to 90 percent of what the old Reagan coalition has advocated for in the past 25 years. The delivery isn’t as polished sure—but who cares. Trump gets results. I’m a proud Trump Republican as is most of the base. Yes, there are some annoying folks who yearn for past days. They can still hop on the Trump train. Well, everyone can still do that, except John Kasich who is speaking tonight at the Democratic National Convention to break tribalism or something (via NYT):

Four years ago, John R. Kasich considered it unthinkable to vote for Donald J. Trump for president, yet he could not bring himself to cast a ballot for Hillary Clinton either — so he wrote in Senator John McCain of Arizona.

Not this time around. Mr. Kasich, a lifelong Republican who has spent decades in politics — as a state legislator, congressman, governor of Ohio and presidential aspirant — will become his party’s most prominent leader to cross the partisan divide and support former Vice President Joseph R. Biden Jr., speaking at this week’s Democratic National Convention, and then voting for him this fall.

“I wasn’t going to vote for somebody else,” Mr. Kasich said in an interview before his speech on Monday night. “I just wasn’t going to do it this time. I did it the last time. You know, I had always been hopeful, even after the convention and after the election, that perhaps we would see a change in the president, but we just never have. I happen to think it’s the soul of our country that is being damaged, and that’s what I’m concerned about.”

Republican Women Trash Trump at DNC

By Washington Examiner. A trio of once-prominent Republican women trashed President Trump on the opening night of the virtual Democratic National Convention to highlight a segment of the GOP that is backing Joe Biden for president.

“I’m a longtime Republican and a longtime CEO,” Meg Whitman, a former top executive and GOP candidate for California governor in 2010, said. “And let me tell you, Donald Trump has no clue how to run a business, let alone an economy. Joe Biden, on the other hand, has a plan.”

Whitman was followed by former New Jersey GOP Gov. Christine Todd Whitman, who is also backing Biden.

“This isn’t about a Republican or Democrat,” Whitman, who was governor from 1994 to 2001, said, explaining her appearance at the convention. “It’s about a person — a person decent enough, stable enough, and strong enough to get our economy back on track. Top DNC Speaker Made Millions Lobbying for Russia

By The Federalist. The heavily promoted formerly Republican lawmaker endorsing Joe Biden for president tonight at the Democratic National Convention was a highly paid Russian lobbyist whose firm was paid millions of dollars for work on behalf of the Kremlin, federal records show.

According to federal documents filed pursuant to the Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA), the lobbying firm run by former Rep. Susan Molinari and its business partner received nearly $2.5 million in just one six-month period in 2008 to “cover fees and expenses for providing services for the benefit of the Russian Federation.” During the final of the year, the Russian lobbying deal made the consortium another $2.8 million for its work on behalf of the Kremlin, records show.

Molinari, who ran for and won the same congressional seat vacated by her father in 1989, left Congress in 1997 to embark on a lucrative career promoting the interests of foreign governments in Russia, Bangladesh, and Panama. Molinari’s former firm The Washington Group was part of a consortium of high-powered marketing and lobbying operations that raked in more than $60 million from the Russian Federation to improve the country’s image in the United States.

In 2016, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) launched a sprawling investigation of the Trump campaign after Russian ambassador Sergei Kislyak was spotted meeting with Republican lawmakers at the G.O.P’s nominating convention. Former White House National Security Adviser Michael Flynn was targeted, illegally leaked against, and eventually prosecuted over his conversations with Kislyak during the presidential transition in 2016 and 2017. Federal records show, however, that Molinari’s lobbying partner worked directly for Kislyak to burnish his image to American voters. Over 100 Police Agencies Pull Out of Democratic Convention

More than 100 police agencies are withdrawing from agreements to send personnel to bolster security at next month’s Democratic National Convention in Milwaukee, in part because they’re concerned about a recent directive ordering police in the city to stop using tear gas to control crowds.

A citizen oversight commission last week directed Milwaukee’s police chief to publicly account for why the department used tear gas during protests in late May and early June after the killing of George Floyd in Minneapolis and to change Milwaukee’s police policies to ban the use of tear gas and pepper spray. The Milwaukee Fire and Police Commission said in its order that Police Chief Alfonso Morales could be fired if he fails to comply. . .

Since the Milwaukee order was issued, more than 100 law enforcement agencies in Wisconsin and across the country decided against coming to Milwaukee, Morales told WTMJ-TV on Tuesday. They were concerned with directives placed on the police department, including not allowing tear gas or pepper spray, he said.
