Supreme Court Justices Weren’t Buying What the Lawyer Arguing for Trump’s Removal From Colorado Ballot Was Selling

The U.S. Supreme Court heard roughly two hours of arguments Thursday concerning the effort by six Colorado voters to deny their fellow countrymen the opportunity to vote for the Republican front-runner in the 2024 election.

Jason Murray, a Denver lawyer representing the six voters, struggled to make a case for former President Donald Trump’s disqualification, ostensibly tripping over simple questions and facts.

While conservative Justices Clarence Thomas and Brett Kavanaugh predictably exposed the various faults in Murray’s arguments, even left-leaning Justices Elena Kagan and Ketanji Brown Jackson seemed unimpressed, casting doubt over whether Section 3 of the 14th Amendment applies and over whether the Centennial State should determine the fate of the nation. . .

Murray, who previously convinced Democratic appointees on the Colorado Supreme Court to declare Trump ineligible to appear on ballots in the state, attempted to repeat his success Thursday but soon discovered the road forward had not similarly been ideologically greased.

Justice Kagan, for instance, said to Murray, “The question you have to confront is why a single state should decide who gets to be president of the United States. Biden Lays Blame for Not Being Able to Recall Basic Facts During Interviews With Special Counsel

President Biden said Thursday that he struggled to remember certain key dates during his interviews with Special Counsel Robert Hur as a result of the ongoing Israel-Hamas war.

Biden told reporters that he was “handling an international crisis” at the time of his interviews with federal investigators shortly after Hur released his 345-page report Thursday detailing the findings in his investigation into the president’s handling of classified documents. In the report, Hur noted that Biden’s memory failed him in multiple instances, saying the president forgot when he was vice president and when his son Beau died.

“I sought no delays. In fact, I was so determined to get the special counsel what they needed,” Biden remarked. “I went forward with a five-hour in-person interview over the two days of October — the ninth, eighth and ninth last year — even though Israel had just been attacked by Hamas on the seventh. I was in the middle of handling an international crisis.”

“Bottom line is, a special counsel in my case decided against moving forward any charges, and this matter is now closed,” the president continued. “I’ll continue to do what I’ve always done — stay focused on my job like you do, of my job of being president.”

Additionally, shortly after the report was published, Biden’s personal lawyers Richard Sauber and Bob Bauer penned a letter to Hur, criticizing him for his characterization of the president’s memory. Biden Ignores Anti-Israel Protesters, Labels Trump an ‘Existential Threat’

President Joe Biden, during a fundraising event in New York City, referred to former President Donald Trump as an “existential threat” but failed to mention anti-Israel protests blocking Fifth Avenue. Biden made these remarks at a gathering of business leaders hosted by Larry Linden, the former managing partner of Goldman Sachs, at his Upper West Side residence. Biden continued to emphasize that he believes Trump is a significant risk to his administration.

However, the event was not without disruptions. Anti-Israel protesters gathered on Fifth Avenue outside the Metropolitan Museum of Art, blocking traffic and expressing their opposition to Biden’s support for Israel’s actions in response to an attack by Hamas terrorists. Protesters wore shirts advocating for a ceasefire and were eventually cleared by the police before Biden arrived at his third fundraiser, hosted by Maureen White. During the event, Biden failed to recognize the protester’s presence.

Actor Robert De Niro was also present at the event, which continued as scheduled after police detained roughly a dozen protesters for disorderly conduct. Despite the disruptions, Biden focused on trashing Trump, describing the former president as a “nightmare” during his second fundraiser at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel near Columbus Circle. These comments were made despite Biden’s long list of failures in office, such as his crippling economy, border crisis, and heightened increase of war.

“Imagine the nightmare of Trump’s return,” Biden stated, addressing the attendees. “You’re the reason Donald Trump is a defeated former president. And you’re the reason we’ll make Donald Trump a loser again.”

Guess Who’s Headed to a Fundraiser for Joe Biden?

Poll after poll continues to show President Joe Biden losing to former President Donald Trump in November, nationally and in every swing state.

The alarming numbers have prompted former Obama administration officials and campaign staffers to publicly criticize the 2024 Biden campaign for keeping Biden hidden away and off of the trail.

“The president and his campaign need to get into gear and they need a message. And they need a message that takes in not just democracy but the day-to-day concerns that people have,” former Obama senior advisor David Axelrod told CNN last month. “It’s going to be Biden versus Trump. And so, begin to draw those parallels not just on democracy, but on issues that are important day-to-day in people’s lives.”

But now, as Biden slightly picks up his pace, former President Barack Obama will attend a fundraiser for the incumbent Democrat in March.

Trump Scores Endorsement From International Union of Police Associations

The International Union of Police Associations (IUPA) endorsed former President Donald Trump in his White House bid on Tuesday, as polling shows crime is a top issue to the American electorate.

In a press release, IUPA President Sam Cabral announced that the organization’s executive board of directors unanimously endorsed Trump.

“President Trump’s history of support for the men and women of Law Enforcement is unmatched. His policies and actions were directed at improving safety in our communities and the men and women who provide that shield,” the release stated, adding that the 45th president “earned and deserves” the IUPA’s “wholehearted support.”

The organization, first chartered in 1979, went on to call out aspects of Democrats’ “doctrine” that have had “tragic” impacts on communities:

Much of the Democrat’s doctrine supports defunding the police; favors sanctuary cities, open borders, and reduced accountability for criminal behavior. The tragic result is apparent in those cities who have embraced these policies — the unfortunate forced businesses closures and plight that followed. Roving gangs are terrorizing retail businesses, raiding them with absolute impunity, akin to a thousand year past — regressive rather than their own progressive ideology. They have not dealt with the consequences of their own failed strategies, while we have all suffered.

Trump Campaign Vows Supreme Court Appeal After Immunity Ruling

A liberal federal appeals court ruled on Tuesday that former President Donald Trump does not possess immunity from prosecution for alleged crimes committed during his time in office. This decision has prompted the Trump campaign to declare its intention to appeal the ruling to the Supreme Court, emphasizing the potential implications for the presidency and the nation’s constitutional framework.

Donald Trump Jr. stated in response:

No one who’s been watching is shocked by this partisan hackery but here we go.

DC appeals court has ruled that Trump does not have presidential immunity that would shield him in the J6 case.

Time for SCOTUS to step in.

If POTUS doesn’t have immunity they’ll be incapable of action for fear of future partisan reprisal. That endangers the United States and sets a terrible precedent. If this becomes the norm would a Trump DOJ prosecute Obama for droning an American? If not why not?

The U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit, consisting of Judges Karen Henderson, Michelle Childs, and Florence Pan, unanimously determined that Trump, now a private citizen, is not shielded by executive immunity for the specific criminal case. The judges argued that while serving as President, Trump enjoyed certain protections, but these no longer apply to the current prosecution led by Special Counsel Jack Smith.

The Trump campaign, in response to the decision, vowed to challenge it at the highest level. Campaign spokesman Steven Cheung argued that denying immunity to a former President could set a precedent where every future President, upon leaving office, might face immediate indictment by the opposing party. This, according to Cheung, could impede the proper functioning of a U.S. President.

Cheung stated, “Deranged Jack Smith’s prosecution of President Trump for his Presidential, official acts is unconstitutional under the doctrine of Presidential Immunity and the Separation of Powers.” He further emphasized that prosecuting a President for official acts goes against the Constitution and poses a threat to the foundational principles of the Republic.

The 57-page decision from the D.C. Circuit Court is considered a victory for Jack Smith, who aims to put Trump on trial in 2024, alleging attempts to overturn the 2020 election. The charges against Trump, filed in August 2023, include conspiracy to defraud the U.S., conspiracy to obstruct an official proceeding, obstruction and attempt to obstruct an official proceeding, and conspiracy against rights, all related to the events of January 6 and the Capitol riot.

Delusional: Joe Biden Blames MAGA for Migrant Crisis

President Joe Biden blamed former President Donald Trump and “MAGA Republicans” for the broken border system and his administration’s expected failure to convince Congress to pass a $118 billion bill that would allot $20 billion for border security but $60 billion for Ukraine.

“Now, all indications are this bill won’t even move forward to the Senate floor. Why? A simple reason: Donald Trump,” Biden said during a public address on Tuesday.

He claimed that Trump thinks the bill is “bad for him politically,” and, therefore, it is being opposed by Republicans in the House and Senate.

He also put all the blame on Trump for the record levels of illegal immigrants streaming through the border, not his own policies and lack of enforcement of the law.

Biden Appointee Accused Of Retaliation Against Hunter Biden Prosecutor Donated To Biden Campaign

A prosecutor appointed by President Joe Biden, who was accused of retaliating against a colleague for working on the Hunter Biden case, previously donated to Joe Biden’s presidential campaign, public records show.

Philadelphia U.S. Attorney Jacqueline Romero, who allegedly retaliated against Assistant U.S. Attorney Derek Hines, donated multiple times to Joe Biden’s presidential campaign ahead of the 2020 election despite her employment by the Department of Justice (DOJ), Federal Election Commission (FEC) records show.

Romero donated to then-Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden twice in November 2020 and three times the month before, FEC records indicate. Over the course of the year, she donated $270 to the Biden campaign, with some of the donations being sent through the Biden Victory Fund, the Biden campaign’s joint fundraising committee. The DOJ is listed as her employer on all of the donations to Joe Biden.

Romero’s most recent donation came in November 2022 to Democratic Georgia Sen. Raphael Warnock’s successful reelection campaign. Warnock, Georgia Sen. Jon Ossoff, Pennsylvania Sen. John Fetterman and Nevada Sen. Catherine Cortez Masto are among the Democratic candidates she has donated to in recent years.

Trump January 6 Judge Worried Trial Delay Will Cancel Her Vacay

DC federal Judge Tanya Chutkan has dropped a subtle hint that former President Donald Trump’s trial in the 2020 election subversion case may be rescheduled to take place after he potentially becomes the Republican Party’s nominee for the 2024 presidential election. Chutkan mentioned her plans to be out of the country later this year on vacation and expressed concern that Trump’s trial could impact that incredibly important trip.

Chutkan reportedly stated, “I hope not to be in the country on August 5,” before noting that her availability could change if she is involved in a trial in another matter that has yet to be scheduled on her calendar.

The Republican National Convention, slated for July 15—18 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, is set to officially secure former President Trump’s position as the GOP nominee for the 2024 presidential election.

Simultaneously, Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis is pursuing an August 5 start date for a separate trial involving Trump and 14 others accused of attempting to allegedly unlawfully alter the 2020 election results in Georgia in the seemingly coordinated attacks against the former president.

The federal case against Trump has been temporarily paused as the DC appeals court reviews arguments from his legal team claiming immunity from charges related to official actions taken during his presidency. Even if the DC court rules against Trump, potential appeals to the Supreme Court could further delay the proceedings. Trump’s legal team also argues that the House of Representatives’ impeachment in connection with the January 6, 2021, riot constitutes double jeopardy for a multitude of reasons.

Last month, Trump’s team unsuccessfully sought contempt charges against special counsel Jack Smith’s team for filing court documents during a stay imposed by Judge Chutkan while the immunity argument is resolved.

Chutkan, an Obama-appointed judge, has indicated that she will set a new trial start date once the higher courts decide on the immunity question. Trump currently faces a total of 91 criminal counts across four separate indictments, vehemently denying any wrongdoing and entering a not guilty plea in each case.

Trump Names Two People When Asked About Potential VP Candidates

Former President Donald Trump named two people during an interview over the weekend when asked about who he is considering to be his vice presidential running mate.

Trump mentioned Sen. Tim Scott (R-SC) and South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem when asked during a Sunday interview with Maria Bartiromo about who he was considering.

“Well, I have a lot of good people. We have a lot of really good people,” Trump said. “I have a lot of good ideas, but I haven’t — and there’s no reason to do that quickly.”

He said that he would not make the decision for “a while,” adding that the top thing that he wants in his vice president is someone who would be a good president.

“I speak to everybody,” he said. “I called Tim Scott … and I said, ‘you’re a much better candidate for me than you are for yourself.’ When I watched Tim, he was fine, he was good, but he was very low-key, et cetera, et cetera.”
