Trump Medical Records, Tax Documents Seized in FBI Raid: Judge

A federal judge revealed Monday that former President Trump’s medical records and documents related to his accounting information and taxes were seized during the FBI’s raid of his Mar-a-Lago home.

U.S. District Judge from the Southern District of Florida Judge Aileen M. Cannon ordered Monday that an independent special master be appointed to review Trump’s records for attorney-client and executive privilege. The judge also ordered the Justice Department stop its own review of the material for investigative purposes.

In the order, Cannon revealed the types of documents that had been seized during the raid.

“According to the Privilege Review Team’s Report, the seized materials include medical documents, correspondence related to taxes, and accounting information,” Cannon wrote.

Special Master Granted by Judge in Shock Win for Trump’s Legal Team

A federal judge has granted former President Donald Trump’s request to appoint an independent special master to review the documents seized in last month’s raid of Mar-a-Lago, in a shock victory for the former president.

“The court hereby authorizes the appointment of a special master to review the seized property for personal items and documents and potentially privileged material subject to claims of attorney-client and/or executive privilege,” U.S. District Judge Aileen Cannon wrote in an order Monday.

The decision has put a “brief pause” into the Department of Justice’s (DOJ) ongoing investigation of Trump, as government investigators are now barred from “reviewing and using the seized materials for investigative purposes” until the special master’s review is complete.

Trump’s attorneys requested the appointment of a special master to protect the former president’s rights, arguing that some of the documents taken in the search are “presumptively privileged” because they involve presidential communication with advisers. What George W. Bush and Donald Trump Have in Common Is Loaded With Irony

Donald Trump and George W. Bush may be in the same fraternity because they’re both former presidents, but that doesn’t mean they are friends or allies. Trump openly blamed Bush for buoying the rise of Barack Obama when he first mulled running in 2012. He’s hurled some harsh criticism of the Iraq War and the war in Afghanistan as being a heinous waste of American resources and power. The cessation of endless wars was a Trump foreign policy item, along with the end of neoconservative projects abroad that generated mixed results regarding exporting liberal democracy to the Muslim world, which also came with a ruinously expensive price tag. On foreign policy, the two camps—Bush and Trump—couldn’t be further apart, though on domestic policy—precisely tax policy—the two presidents do share a common trend, and it heavily involves the Democratic Party.

You cannot make up the irony that’s woven into this story. Both presidents proposed massive tax cuts that generated months of sustained economic growth. The Trump tax cuts caused an unprecedented job-creating climate that saw a slew of companies, Apple included, repatriate vast sums of offshore profits. Numerous small businesses doled out bonuses to their workers. Consumer confidence and those of small business owners reached historic highs. The Bush tax cuts led to 52 months of uninterrupted economic growth in the early days of his presidency. The Democratic Party hated both tax bills. Both were used in campaign materials; the Democrats fundraised from them. It was the big giveaway to the wealthy—a trite talking point that doesn’t resonate are carry the same punch with voters since Democrats have an agenda that has abandoned most if not all priorities that benefit the working class. Trump Blasts Biden for Attack on ‘MAGA Republicans’

Former President Donald Trump blasted President Joe Biden at a rally Saturday night over a series of presidential speeches that attacked the former president’s supporters.

“Joe Biden came to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to give the most vicious, hateful and divisive speech ever delivered by an American president,” Trump told a massive crowd at the rally in Scranton, Pennsylvania. “Vilified 75 million citizens plus another, probably 75 to 150, if we want to be accurate about it, as threats to democracy and as enemies of the state.”

Biden labeled Trump supporters as a “threat to democracy” in his Thursday speech in Philadelphia but appeared to walk back the remarks on Friday after questions from Fox News White House correspondent Peter Doocy. Biden also accused Republicans of embracing “semi-fascism” during remarks at an Aug. 25 fundraiser for the Democratic National Committee and attacked “MAGA Republicans in a Tuesday speech at Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania.

“The enemy, you want to know the enemy of the state, is him and the group that control him which is circling around him,” Trump said. “‘Do this, do that, Joe, do this Joe,’ right? I think Philadelphia was a great choice to make the speech of hatred and anger. His speech was hatred and anger. Trump Vows to Give Full Pardon and Apology to the Hundreds Convicted in J6 Protests

Former President Trump promises to protect those convicted in connection to the January 6 protests at the Capitol.

During an interview, Trump vowed to pardon and apologize to the hundreds of people who are currently under investigation if he is elected to a second presidential term in 2024.

“I will tell you, I will look very, very favorably about full pardons. If I decide to run and if I win, I will be looking very, very strongly about pardons. Full pardons… I mean full pardons with an apology to many,” Trump said, adding, “I am financially supporting people that are incredible and they were in my office actually two days ago, so they’re very much in my mind.”

The former president called it a “disgrace” what the government is putting nearly 800 people through.

Detailed Inventory of Trump Mar-a-Lago FBI Raid Released

A government inventory of items seized at Mar-a-Lago included a number of classified documents — and dozens of folders marked “classified” that were empty.

The rundown of documents federal agents took, revealed by US District Judge Aileen Cannon, also indicates that agents who took part in the Aug. 8 raid on the 45th president’s home even took such innocuous items as the former president’s clothing, as well as magazine and newspaper clippings he kept.

In all, the property list indicated that 11,179 government documents and photographs seized by the FBI bore no classification markings at all.

By contrast, 54 documents removed from the Palm Beach, Fla., resort were marked “SECRET,” 31 were labeled “CONFIDENTIAL” and another 18 were called “TOP SECRET.”

Agents also took 48 empty folders labeled with “CLASSIFIED” banners while another 42 empty folders were labeled “Return to Staff Secretary/Military Aide.” It is not clear from the inventory list why the folders were empty. DOJ’s ‘Classified Documents’ Narrative Feels Like a Get-Trump Trick We’ve Seen Before

Since news first broke of the FBI’s raid on Mar-a-Lago, the Department of Justice has primed Americans to believe that former President Donald Trump hid classified documents at his Florida home in defiance of a grand jury subpoena. But even with leaks pushing claims that the documents seized included potential nuclear secrets, the public remains equally split on whether the Biden administration abused its power in targeting Trump.

With criticism of the raid remaining high nearly a month after the FBI executed the search at the former president’s home, the DOJ on Tuesday escalated its public-relations pitch by releasing several documents that seemingly establish that Trump failed to comply with the subpoena and that his representative lied to the government about the documents retained at Mar-a-Lago. While nothing is impossible, this narrative seems extremely unlikely.

To convince the country of the righteousness of its raid, the DOJ filed three seemingly damning exhibits in the separate lawsuit Trump had filed against the United States seeking the appointment of a special master to oversee the government’s handling of the seized documents. Specifically, the DOJ filed a copy of the subpoena issued to the “Custodian of Records” of “The Office of Donald J. Trump” that directed the custodian to provide “any and all documents or writings in the custody or control of Donald J. Trump and/or the Office of Donald J. Trump bearing classification markings.”

The DOJ attached as another exhibit the “Certification” of the “Custodian of Records,” which noted, “based on the information that has been provided to” the custodian, she was authorized to certify that “a diligent search was conducted of the boxes that were moved from the White House to Florida” and that “the search was conducted after receipt of the subpoena in order to locate any and all documents responsive to the subpoena.” The certification then noted that “any and all responsive documents accompany this certification.” A third exhibit filed by the DOJ depicted several sets of documents with various cover sheets showing their classification marking, such as “Top Secret.” (Read more from “DOJ’s ‘Classified Documents’ Narrative Feels Like a Get-Trump Trick We’ve Seen Before” HERE)

Biden Tries to Walk Back Speech From Hell: ’I Don’t Consider Any Trump Supporter to Be a Threat’ — After Calling Trump Supporters a Threat

President Joe Biden tried Friday to walk back his dark political speech from the night before after receiving considerable backlash for trying to portray supporters of former President Donald Trump as radical extremists who threatened the United States.

“I don’t consider any Trump supporter to be a threat to the country,” Biden replied when asked by reporters at the White House about why he decided to say that Trump and his supporters were a threat to democracy.

The president tried to narrow his definition of exactly who he was talking about when he said “Donald Trump and MAGA Republicans are a threat to the very soul of this country” in his speech Thursday night at Independence Hall in Pennsylvania.

“I do think anyone who calls for the use of violence and fails to condemn violence when it’s used, refuse to acknowledge an election has been won, insists upon changing the way in which the rule – you count votes,” he said. “That is a threat to democracy. Democracy. And everything we stand for.”

Trump Blasts Barr After Former AG Dismisses Mar-a-Lago Declassification Claims

Former President Donald Trump was quick to respond to his onetime attorney general William Barr on Friday after the latter said there was likely no legitimate reason for his former boss to have documents stashed at Mar-a-Lago.

In an interview with Fox News, Barr said that regardless of whether Trump declassified the documents, they still belonged to the government, meaning he should not have had them after he left office. . .

The comments provoked a stinging rebuke from Trump via his Truth Social account.

“Former A.G. Bill Barr was fired long before I left the White House on January 20th,” he wrote. “He acted very slowly on the ‘No Collusion’ Mueller Report in that the FBI and ‘Justice’ had the ‘Laptop from Hell’ in their possession, which totally exonerated me long before Mueller’s decision came out, years later – A waste of time & money. The Laptop information should have been released BEFORE the Rigged Election, not after it, for the VOTERS TO SEE. Biden Targets ‘Extremist’ Trump Allies as Democratic Threat in Fraught Political Moment

By Reuters. U.S. President Joe Biden charged Republican allies of Donald Trump with undermining the country’s democracy and urged voters on Thursday to reject extremism ahead of November’s midterm elections.

Biden accused lawmakers and others devoted to the Make America Great Again (MAGA) agenda led by former U.S. President Trump as willing to overturn democratic elections, ignore the Constitution and “determined to take this country backwards” to a time without rights to abortion, privacy, contraception or same-sex marriage.

“Donald Trump and MAGA Republicans represent an extremism that threatens the very foundations of our republic,” Biden said. “As I stand here tonight, equality and democracy are under assault. We do ourselves no favor to pretend otherwise.”

The prime-time speech in Philadelphia, the birthplace of American democracy, marked a sharp turn for Biden as midterm congressional elections approach.

Aides say the president is increasingly concerned about anti-democratic trends in the Republican Party, and sees a need to jump into this year’s election fight and recast the stakes of his own 2024 re-election bid.
