Jan. 6 Witness Who Blasted Trump Admits He’d Vote for the Former President Again

Arizona House Speaker Rusty Bowers plans to vote for former President Donald Trump if he is the nominee in 2024 despite his disparagement of the president’s actions.

During a public hearing Tuesday before the House Jan. 6 committee, Bowers recalled how Trump pressured him to “break his oath” and engage in a “circus” gambit to thwart the election over bogus election fraud claims. Despite the former president’s antics, the state speaker contended that Trump is better than the alternative.

“If he is the nominee, if he was up against Biden, I’d vote for him again simply because what he did the first time, before COVID, was so good for the county,” Bowers told the Associated Press after the hearing. “In my view, it was great.”

Bowers reiterated his rebuke of Trump supporters peddling debunked claims about a “rigged” election depriving Trump of victory in 2020, underscoring how the claims had undermined public faith in elections. Pro-Impeachment Republicans Face Uncertain Futures Ahead of Midterms

More than a year after they broke with the vast majority of their party to support President Donald Trump’s impeachment, a handful of Republican members of Congress is fighting uphill battles to keep their seats.

Voters will soon decide the fates of five of the 10 GOP House members who cast votes in favor of Trump’s second impeachment in 2021.

Four of the 10 have said they’ll retire rather than seek reelection in the post-Trump environment.

Another, Rep. Tom Rice (SC), has already faced voters in the primaries and discovered just how costly crossing Trump can be: He lost against a Trump-backed challenger earlier this month. Rice, like some of the other Republican impeachment backers, remained critical of Trump months after the impeachment battle had concluded.

Each of the five Republicans fighting to remain in Congress this year is facing circumstances unique to his or her district. (Read more from “Pro-Impeachment Republicans Face Uncertain Futures Ahead of Midterms” HERE)

GOP Lawmaker Who Backed Impeachment: ‘Hard to Stop’ Trump in 2024

Former President Donald Trump “will be hard to stop” if he seeks the GOP presidential nomination in 2024, says a retiring Republican congressman who voted in favor of impeachment after the Capitol riot.

Rep. Fred Upton (R-MI) told CNN on Sunday he firmly believes Trump will run and be a strong candidate, even as he argued that the Jan. 6 committee’s findings will increasingly resonate with moderate GOP voters, as well as independents.

“I have said from the beginning, I think that Donald Trump is going to be a candidate in ’24. The voters still like him a lot,” Upton said on State of the Union. “We see that certainly in Michigan. He’s had a number of decisive wins where he’s endorsed candidates [who] have won. He’s had a few losses as well, but he certainly entertains a majority of the Republican base and will be hard to stop. And, frankly, as we look at the economy, we look at gas prices, all these different things, folks are not really happy with the Biden administration, which is why he is mired at a level even below where Donald Trump was at this point in his tenure.”

Six in 10 Republicans support Trump as their party’s leader, a recent ABC News/Washington Post poll found. (Read more from “GOP Lawmaker Who Backed Impeachment: ‘Hard to Stop’ Trump in 2024” HERE)

Poll: Americans Admit They’d Vote for Trump Over Biden

As inflation keeps rising and recession fears loom, a new Yahoo News/YouGov poll shows that Joe Biden is currently in the worst shape of his presidency.

The survey of 1,541 U.S. adults, which was conducted from June 10-13, found that if another presidential election were held today, more registered voters say they would cast ballots for Donald Trump (44%) than for Biden (42%)[.] . .

Biden’s job approval rating has been atrophying for much of the last year, and the new survey shows that it has never been weaker. A full 56% of Americans now disapprove of the president’s performance — the highest share to date — while just 39% approve. Three weeks ago, those numbers were 53% and 42%, respectively. Donald Trump Rips Ivanka Trump After Jan. 6 Testimony (VIDEO)

Former President Donald Trump publicly rebuked his daughter Ivanka Trump following a clip of her displayed by the House select committee investigating the Jan. 6 riot during a public hearing Thursday evening.

The former president stressed that his daughter was not in the loop on his campaign’s investigations of 2020 election fraud claims and had not thoroughly studied the matter. In the clip, Ivanka Trump said she respected former Attorney General Bill Barr and trusted his judgment that the 2022 election wasn’t rigged.

“Ivanka Trump was not involved in looking at, or studying, Election results. She had long since checked out and was, in my opinion, only trying to be respectful to Bill Barr and his position as attorney general (he sucked),” Trump wrote on Truth Social, a social media platform he has attempted to establish as an alternative to Twitter.

Ivanka Trump’s comments, made during a closed-door deposition, were highlighted during the panel’s prime-time public hearing. Members of the panel and Trump critics pointed to the clip, in which she was pressed about Barr’s dismissal of claims of rampant voter fraud touted by the then-president and some of his allies, as evidence that members of Trump’s inner circle knew his claims about rampant voter fraud were unfounded. Memo Confirms Trump Pentagon Offered Guard Troops Before Jan. 6

Government memos validate the long-held claim of Trump administration officials that Capitol Police rejected an offer made by the Pentagon four days before the Jan. 6 riot to provide National Guard troops.

An official Capitol Police timeline obtained by Just the News records a Jan. 2, 2021, text from Defense Department official Carol Corbin to Capitol Police deputy chief Sean Gallagher.

Corbin, according to the timeline, reached out “to determine whether USCP is considering a request for National Guard soldiers for January 6, 2021 event.”

The following morning, “Gallagher replies to DOD via text that a request for National Guard support not forthcoming at this time after consultation with COP Sund,” referring to Steven Sund, the chief of the Capitol Police.

Just the News noted the rejection came as the Capitol Police was beginning to change its assessment of Jan. 6, 2021, to take into account a massive Trump rally to protest the November 2020 election results. (Read more from “Memo Confirms Trump Pentagon Offered Guard Troops Before Jan. 6” HERE)

DeSantis Reacts to Straw Poll Showing Him Leading Against Trump (VIDEO)

Republican Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis reacted to a straw poll showing him in the lead against former President Donald Trump for the nomination in a potential 2024 presidential run.

The poll was held at the 2022 Western Conservative Summit Saturday where DeSantis acquired 71% support while Trump held nearly 68% favorability. Republican Texas Sen. Ted Cruz came in third with 29% approval. A reporter asked the governor whether he has decided to run for president.

“I don’t do straw polls,” DeSantis responded. “They just put my name to these things, you know? So, what am I supposed to do? Like they sell merchandise and everything. I’d kind of like to get royalties on that.”

A Wednesday straw poll conducted at the Wisconsin Republican Convention found DeSantis narrowly leading Trump for the nomination in a potential 2024 presidential race. DeSantis held 38% while the former president acquired 32%. (Read more from “DeSantis Reacts to Straw Poll Showing Him Leading Against Trump (VIDEO)” HERE)

Poll: Fewer Americans Now Believe Trump ‘Responsible’ for Jan. 6

On Monday, NBC News received results of their poll conducted last month. A major takeaway, as highlighted by NBC News “First Read,” is that less Americans now blame former President Donald Trump for the Capitol riot on January 6, 2021. The most selected single response is the 35 percent of Americans who say that Trump is “Not really responsible,” while the least selected single response is the 17 percent who said Trump is “Solely responsible.”

According to this most recent poll, 45 percent said Trump is either “Solely responsible” or “Mainly responsible,” at 17 percent and 28 percent, respectively. When NBC News conducted such a poll in January 2021, not long after the incident, a small majority, at 52 percent, said Trump was “solely” or “mainly” responsible, at 28 percent and 24 percent respectively. It also shows that 55 percent of Americans say Trump is “Only somewhat responsible” or “Not really responsible,” at 20 percent and 35 percent respectively.

The poll was conducted May 5-May 7 and May 9-May 10 with 1,000 adults. There’s a margin of error of plus or minus 4.38 percentage points.

As NBC News pointed out about the poll’s takeaways, this decrease in blaming Trump came across all political parties. (Read more from “Poll: Fewer Americans Now Believe Trump ‘Responsible’ for Jan. 6” HERE)

Trump Makes Endorsement in Arizona Senate Race

Former President Donald Trump endorsed Senate candidate Blake Masters, an “America First” populist, in the upcoming Arizona Republican primary election.

“Despite having such an amazing business career and wonderful family, Blake has decided that he wants to make a difference for the people of our Country, and is therefore running for the United States Senate from the Great State of Arizona,” Trump wrote in a news release.

Masters, a venture capitalist, narrowly led the field of GOP primary candidates in Arizona earlier this year, according to a survey for Saving Arizona PAC in March, though recent polls have shown him behind or even with GOP primary rivals, including Arizona Attorney General Mark Brnovich, and businessman Jim Lamon.

Trump praised Masters as a “great modern-day thinker” and lauded the candidate’s commitment to the former president’s priorities, including immigration, gun rights, and his unverified claims about fraudulent activity in the 2020 election. Donald Trump At NRA: If We Can Send $40 Billion To Ukraine, We Can Protect Our Children’s Schools; Trump Calls for More Guns to Stop ‘Evil’ (VIDEO)

By Breitbart. Former President Donald Trump called for more security in American schools during his speech to the National Rifle Association on Friday.

“If the United States has $40 billion to send to Ukraine, we should be able to do whatever it takes to keep our children safe at home,” Trump said, offering several security proposals for making schools safer, including armed police or security officers. . .

“Unlike some, I did not disappoint you by not showing up,” Trump said after taking the stage at the NRA convention to a roar of approval. Gov. Greg Abbott (R-TX) canceled his appearance at the NRA, sending a video instead while he visited the Uvalde community.

Trump began his speech by holding a moment of silence for the shooting victims, reading their names as audio of a bell tolled in the conference room.

“The monster who committed this crime is pure evil, pure cruelty, pure hatred, absolute pure hatred, and while those he slaughtered are now with god in heaven, he will be eternally damned to burn in the fires of hell,” he said. Trump Calls for More Guns to Stop ‘Evil’ in Speech at NRA Convention

By Washington Examiner. Former President Donald Trump called for more guns and a security overhaul at public schools during the National Rifle Association convention Friday in Houston, mere days after a shooting at a Uvalde, Texas, elementary school killed 19 children and two teachers.

In his proposal, Trump called for more armed security guards and police officers at schools, along with metal detectors and a single port of entry for campuses. . .

The former president also said schools need to be more proactive in monitoring students who portray dangerous behavior.

“Teachers, parents, school officials, and community members need to be recognizing and addressing these alarm bells promptly and aggressively,” Trump said. “Our school discipline systems, instead of making excuses and continually turning a blind eye, need to confront bad behavior head-on and quickly.”
