Gavin Newsom Recalls How Target Clerk Blamed Him for California Retail Theft — Before Realizing Who He Was

Gavin Newsom revealed Wednesday that he once witnessed a shoplifter steal from Target without any interference from workers, one of whom blamed the California governor for emboldened criminals in the state before she realized who he actually was.

The Golden State leader recalled the awkward interaction at the start of a Zoom forum about a mental health proposition he’s backing, and as California continues to deal with a retail theft crisis, the Mercury News reported.

Newsom said he was on the Target checkout line when he and a store worker saw the thief waltz out of the store with items he didn’t pay for, according to footage posted online.

“I said, ‘why didn’t you stop him,’” Newsom said. “She goes, ‘oh, the governor.’ Swear to God, true story on my mom’s grave. ‘The governor lowered the threshold, there’s no accountability.’ I said that’s just not true.”

Newsom then said he told the clerk, who still apparently didn’t know who he was, that California’s Prop. 47 makes it a felony for property thefts totaling $950 or higher – the 10th toughest in the nation. Newsom Humiliated By Disastrous Budget Report One Week After Bragging About California’s Economy

California is facing a fiscal crisis with a record $68 billion budget deficit under the leadership of Gov. Gavin Newsom (D-CA.).

This week, reports from the nonpartisan Legislative Analyst Office found that California must undergo significant spending cuts and dip into its reserve fund, forcing Newsom to make substantial changes for next year.

The Associated Press details the crisis:

Newsom and the state Legislature now must come up with a plan to cover this deficit. Newsom will present his plan in January and then negotiate with state lawmakers through June. The next budget year begins July 1. Newsom’s first term in office was buoyed by record-smashing surpluses of more than $100 billion in some years. The money allowed him and his Democratic allies in the state Legislature to greatly expand government, including paying for guaranteed health insurance for all low-income adults regardless of their immigration status and free lunches for all public school students. Now, in his second term, growing budget deficits could threaten some of Newsom’s accomplishments at a time when he is building his national profile that could lead to a run for president beyond 2024. The Legislative Analyst Office says their projections, from 2022-2023 through 2027-2028, show a cumulative deficit of $155 billion. Still, even in the face of deficits, Newsom and the state Legislature last year gave a lucrative tax break to the state’s film and television industry while also agreeing to gradually raise the minimum wage for health care workers to $25 per hour. That wage increase will cost the state about $20 billion this year in increased labor costs and Medicaid payments to hospitals.

California Retailers Must Have a Gender-Neutral Toys Section or Risk Being Fined

. . .Under Democrat Gov. Gavin Newsom’s (D-CA.) new bill, retailers in the state must create gender-neutral toy sections for children or risk being fined hundreds of dollars.

According to a law signed by Newsom in 2021, California-based department stores with 500 or more employees selling “childcare items or toys” must have a gender-neutral section “regardless of whether they have been traditionally marketed for either girls or boys.”

If retailers defy the law, they will get slapped with a $500 fine.

“Childcare items” include anything designed to help children under the age of 12 sleep, eat, relax, or to help them with sucking or teething.

The state’s Democratic Congressman Evan Low supported the legislation, telling the Associated Press, “We need to stop stigmatizing what’s acceptable for certain genders and just let kids be kids.” (Read more from “California Retailers Must Have a Gender-Neutral Toys Section or Risk Being Fined” HERE)

WATCH: Gavin Newsom Repeatedly Says He Was Insulted, Offended by Ron Desantis

Democratic California Gov. Gavin Newsom repeatedly said he was insulted and offended by Republican Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis’ actions and policies during Thursday’s landmark debate on “Hannity,” including one tense moment when DeSantis mentioned Vice President Kamala Harris.

The Fox News debate between Newsom and DeSantis, a 2024 presidential candidate, quickly got heated when the two attacked each other’s records on hot topics like crime, tax policy and the COVID-19 pandemic response.

“That’s insulting,” Newsom declared after DeSantis claimed Los Angeles had “collapsed” due to crime.S

“I mean, you’re running for president of the United States,” Newsom said. “You’re talking down the great state of California, talking down one of the great American cities, Los Angeles.”

When the debate pivoted to the topic of parental rights in education, Newsom complained, “I don’t like the way you demean people.” (Read more from “WATCH: Gavin Newsom Repeatedly Says He Was Insulted, Offended by Ron DeSantis” HERE)

Here Are Jennifer Newsom’s Disgusting Comments About the Employee Gavin Had an Affair With While SF Mayor

Back when California Governor Gavin Newsom was facing recall in 2021, actress Rose McGowan presented some pretty damning information about Newsom’s wife, Jennifer Siebel Newsom, acting as a silencer for Harvey Weinstein. Specifically, in 2017 McGowan recorded an interview with Ronan Farrow for NBC News in which she told the story of being raped by Weinstein. NBC News sat on the tape for five months, during which time Weinstein’s attorneys (one of whom is Newsom’s brother-in-law) tried to get McGowan to recant. When their efforts were rebuffed, Siebel Newsom met with McGowan under the guise of friendship then tried to strong-arm her into keeping quiet. When that didn’t work, and the interview aired, Siebel Newsom then came out with her own weepy tale of being raped by Weinstein. . .

As I was looking into exactly what was said and done around the time in 2007 when Gavin Newsom admitted to having an affair with his appointments secretary, Ruby Rippey-Tourk, who was also his then-best friend’s wife, and allegedly admitted to having an alcohol problem and going to rehab I stumbled upon what Siebel Newsom had to say about the affair and the woman involved – and it’s is not pretty. Her words are gaslighting, manipulation, and victim-blaming on a grand scale, possibly even eclipsing the gaslighting her husband has attempted on the people of California for the last six years.

Siebel Newsom had a movie coming out around the time news of Gavin’s affair broke, so a reporter from the San Francisco Chronicle asked her about the affair while interviewing her about her new movie (an interview that no doubt would not have occurred if she was not the Mayor’s girlfriend). Siebel Newsom had some pointed comments:

“I shouldn’t say this, but there are two sides to every story,” she said in an exhausted tone. “If people did research into the scandal … the woman is the culprit. Alex Tourk is a nice man and it saddens me that his wife did that to him.

“This ‘scandal’ is selling papers — sensationalized tabloid papers,” she added. “Gavin’s a wonderful human being, and I wouldn’t be here (continuing the relationship) if he wasn’t.

“All of this stuff that happened and came out was in a darker period of Gavin’s life: going through a divorce, losing his mother, being under all the pressure he is under. The supervisors and The Chronicle have not made things any easier. It’s amazing that he’s as sane and healthy and down-to-earth as he is.”

Kamala Harris v. Gavin Newsom: The Coming Democratic Civil War

The Democratic Party is united — for now. Fear and loathing of Donald Trump keeps the various Democratic factions in a precarious peace. But labor v. environment, Jewish vote v. Muslim vote, and center-left v. hardcore progressivism cannot remain at bay forever. The fiercest battle may well be the looming civil war between Vice President Kamala Harris and California Gov. Gavin Newsom for the party leadership once President Biden leaves the stage.

And it won’t be pretty.

When Biden named Harris his running mate, he conferred on her heir-apparent status. The pick made sense. VP nominees are mostly about pulling together party divisions or offsetting the nominee’s weaknesses. As an old, white male Catholic, Biden running with a minority female checked some important identity boxes. And, in 2020 with a campaign hobbled due to covid restrictions, Harris did just fine. The “not Trump” campaign worked.

However, given an opportunity to establish herself as the next Democratic hope, Harris has proven rather maladroit. Something about her isn’t quite right. Her speeches are mediocre, with poorly thought-out ad libs. Her awkwardness with voters is positively Hillary Clintonesque. After spending her life in the progressive hothouse of California, Harris has shown little ability to build appeal in the other more centrist 49 states. Given the unpleasant portfolio of illegal immigration early in the administration, she failed to distinguish herself. If she has any real policy responsibility today, it’s not apparent. . .

While Newsom fell in line endorsing Biden, he has ramped up his campaign to be the “Next Big Thing” for Democrats. His media appearances are unabated, and his public relations team is working overtime. A foreign policy trip to China to meet Xi Jinping, various progressive policy initiatives passed by a pliant legislature, all resemble the Gov. Ron DeSantis Republican playbook in Florida. Newsom will debate DeSantis at the end of November in a putative dry run for 2028. (Read more from “Kamala Harris v. Gavin Newsom: The Coming Democratic Civil War” HERE)

Newsom Lies About City Law ‘Banning’ Being Gay, Gets Dragged

California Democrat Governor Gavin Newsom mischaracterized a Tennessee city ordinance that passed a ban on indecent exposure, lewd behavior, and nudity in front of minors, claiming it had “banned being gay in public.”

The ordinance Newsom was referring to was passed by the Murfreesboro City Council in June and amended in October to eliminate the term “homosexuality” from the code’s definition banning inappropriate sexual conduct. . .

WATCH: Gavin Newsom Knocks Down Small Child While Playing Basketball in China

California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) had a particularly awkward moment during his trip to China, wherein he was filmed knocking over a young child during a game of basketball.

The moment occurred during a visit to a school in Beijing last Friday. After Newsom fell to the ground with the boy, the governor laughed it off as he patted him on the back several times. The boy seemed largely unfazed, with no injuries. Prior to the fall, Newsom tried for a few photo-op moments by spinning the ball on his finger and driving to the basket for a layup. Needless to say, the moment inspired heavy commentary on social media:

“It was a cringey moment for the Democratic governor but didn’t cause injuries. Newsom, in dress shoes, a white shirt, and slacks, proceeded to play with the 9- and 10-year-old children for several more minutes, spinning the basketball on his fingertip and swishing a few times,” noted the Los Angeles Times. Deep State Preps Gavin Newsom for Presidency, Has Him Meet With Xi in China

California Gov. Gavin Newsom met with Chinese President Xi Jinping on Wednesday in Beijing, in the latest sign of thawing U.S-China relations amid rising geopolitical conflicts.

The Democratic governor has been in China this week on a visit billed as focused on climate change, in line with California’s nation-leading emissions policies. He said his meeting with Xi focused on climate as well as fentanyl exports, which the Biden administration has been trying to curb through sanctions on Chinese chemical companies. . .

“The president was rather explicit about the desire to be even more specific in terms of what is needed, in terms of calling out and identifying where these chemicals are going,” Newsom told reporters after the meeting.

Newsom’s emphasis on climate change and subnational cooperation as avenues for diplomacy between the U.S. and China may have paid off. The trip should pave the way for a meeting between President Joe Biden and Xi Jinping at the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Summit in San Francisco next month in Newsom’s hometown. Newsom in 2024? DeSantis and Newsom Officially Agree to Debate (VIDEO)

The red-blue showdown policy wonks have been waiting for is happening.

Florida Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis will square off with California Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom in a debate hosted by Fox News host Sean Hannity on Nov. 30, the network announced Monday.

The made-for-cable-news-event will take place at a location to be determined in the swing state of Georgia.

The two governors have taunted and circled each other for months. Back in June, Hannity pitched a verbal bout between the two political titans during an interview with Newsom and the pair quickly signed on in public while their teams hashed out the details behind the scenes.

“I’m looking forward to providing viewers with an informative debate about the everyday issues and governing philosophies that impact the lives of every American,” Hannity said in a statement. (Read more from “Newsom in 2024? DeSantis and Newsom Officially Agree to Debate” HERE)
