Teacher on Leave After Allegedly Saying ‘Hail Satan’ to Students While Waving Pitchfork Over Their Head (VIDEO)

A public high school teacher in Mesa, Arizona, is on paid administrative leave after allegedly donning devil horns and saying “hail Satan” to students while waving a pitchfork over their heads as they entered the classroom. . .

Sophomore Nathaniel Hamlet told KPNX-TV he walked into his Mesa High School class last Wednesday and noticed his teacher wearing devil horns and carrying a pitchfork.

Hamlet alleged to the station that his teacher proceeded to wave the pitchfork over students’ heads as they entered the classroom and said “hail Satan” to them. . .

But it got personal for Hamlet — a Christian — particularly when he said his teacher kept up the routine with him even after he told the teacher to stop, the station noted.

“I said, ‘Don’t do that to me,’ and I pushed [the pitchfork] away, maybe three or four times, and he still said it and still did it,” Hamlet recounted to KPNX.

Halloween Candy Inflation Hits Double Digits Second Year in a Row

U.S. candy prices surged 13% in October compared to that of last year, marking a second-consecutive year of double-digit inflation in the industry, the Associated Press (AP) reported Saturday.

The increase is more than double the 6% rise in overall grocery prices and follows a 14% hike in candy prices last October, according to the AP.

Weather challenges, particularly in West Africa, have driven cocoa prices to 44-year highs, affecting global candy prices, per the outlet. Unfavorable weather conditions, including heavy rains and subsequent droughts, have severely impacted cocoa production, according to the outlet. Additionally, global sugar prices hit 12-year highs due to disrupted supplies from major producers like India and Thailand, per the AP.

Increased costs in labor, packaging and other ingredients also contribute to the ballooning candy prices, as reflected in the pricing strategies of companies like Hershey Co. and discount grocery chains. For example, Aldi’s price for a 250-piece variety pack of Mars Inc. chocolate bars is currently advertised at $24.98, up from $19.54 two years ago, the outlet noted. Halloween Fun Canceled at School District Over ‘Equity and Inclusion’

Halloween festivities have been canceled at a Massachusetts school district this year over “equity and inclusion” concerns — and the move has left some parents angry.

Leaders from Northboro Public Schools sent a letter to parents this week noting that students aren’t allowed to wear costumes to school for Halloween and the traditional parade through the hallways would be canceled, WBZ-TV reported.

School leaders said the changes were made in order to align with the district’s “core values of equity and inclusion,” the station said — although the district didn’t provide details on how the changes will accomplish that objective, WBZ noted.

The station said the Halloween traditions often apply to elementary school students who dress up in costumes and line up and “parade” around the school halls. . .

Instead of costumes and a parade, the district told parents in the letter that students would participate in a “fall-themed spirit day,” WBZ reported, adding that the parade would be looped into parent-teacher organization events outside school hours. Man Charged With Opening Fire on Trick-Or-Treaters, Killing Young Teen

A cold-hearted Indiana man opened fire on a group of trick-or-treaters on Halloween, killing one and wounding another, police said.

Desmond Crews, 23, of Gary, was charged Wednesday with murder and attempted murder in Sunday’s shooting that killed 13-year-old Thomas DeLaCruz Jr., and wounded another 13-year-old boy in Hammond, the Times of Northwest Indiana reported.

Crews — who was arrested after a father of one of the trick-or-treaters chased him — told cops he was handed a gun and felt compelled to shoot as his companions opened fire, court documents show.

Police said an investigation into other possible suspects was ongoing.

Thomas’ mother, Jasmine Anderson, said her son from East Chicago, Indiana, was celebrating Halloween in his grandmother’s neighborhood with an aunt and friends when he was shot. Police said the gunfire erupted roughly 30 minutes after the city’s trick-or-treating had officially ended. Report: Woman Pulls Loaded Gun on 7-Year-Old Trick-Or-Treater

Authorities arrested a Texas woman after she allegedly pointed a loaded gun at a 7-year-old trick-or-treater on Halloween, KTBC-TV reported. . .

Deputies arrived at the home of Buda, Texas, resident Monica Ann Bradford after she reportedly pointed a loaded gun at an unnamed child who was walking in front of her property.

Witnesses said they saw Bradford yelling at and threatening adolescent passersby during the neighborhood trick-or-treating festivities before she grabbed her gun and pointed it at a child.

Neighbor Connie Medina said that she was shocked to learn of the unfolding situation — especially considering Bradford’s front porch light was on, an apparent indicator that she was accepting trick-or-treaters. (Read more from “Report: Woman Pulls Loaded Gun on 7-Year-Old Trick-Or-Treater” HERE)

American Airlines Cancels More Than 1,000 Flights Over Halloween Weekend

American Airlines canceled over 1,000 flights over the Halloween weekend, blaming weather woes and staffing issues.

On Sunday, the airline canceled 527 total flights, or 19 percent of all of its planned flights that day, accounting for nearly one-third of all of the country’s cancelations, according to data from aviation tracking website FlightAware. Another 31 flights, or 1 percent, were delayed.

American canceled an additional 543 flights, or 20 percent of its total planned flights, on Saturday. Another 407 flights, or 15 percent of its flights, were delayed, according to data.

In a note to staff on Saturday, American COO David Seymour blamed the delays on poor weather conditions around the Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport, the airline’s base of operations, that had displaced staff around the country, according to CNBC. Halloween Horror: Family Finds Basement Filled with Blood (VIDEO)

Many Americans look forward to Halloween, but this season one family got enough scares to last a lifetime as their basement filled with blood.

Nick Lestina, his wife and their 5 children have lived peacefully for 10 years in their Bagley, Iowa home. Earlier this month, however, Lestina discovered his basement floor covered by 5 inches of blood and animal fat. . .

The animal byproduct ended up in Lestina’s house via a drain at Dahl’s Custom Meat Locker, which is right next door. The home and the locker share a common tile line, which is usually used to dispose of waste water, the Register reports. However, after the meat locker disposed of animal blood and fat down their drain, the tile line became clogged, forcing gallons of gore into Lestina’s basement.

Right now, the Lestina family cannot safely reside in their home. Instead, they’re staying with relatives until the biohazardous mess can be cleaned up. (Read more from “Halloween Horror: Family Finds Basement Filled with Blood” HERE)

Happy Halloween! Annual ‘Offensive’ Costume Bans Begin

Every year, as Halloween approaches, the social justice-oriented “woke” police begin issuing their edicts, proscribing certain “offensive” costumes and cancelling Halloween events lest someone — anyone — be offended.

Late last month, an elementary school in the tony Chicago suburb of Evanston announced that they would be cancelling Halloween altogether over concerns that some children who did not celebrate the holiday would be offended by chilling costumes and spooky treats, according to North Cook News.

A Wisconsin school followed suit, calling the holiday “inappropriate” and not “inclusive,” and also did away with parades, parties, and costume-wearing in school. Supervisors at the school district claim that the holiday made certain children feel excluded and highlighted “inequities.” . . .

Michigan State University leads the way in 2019, releasing its rules late last week and pasting posters across campus asking students to consider whether their planned costumes are racially, culturally, or ethnically based.

The College Fix reports that “[p]osters asking ‘Is Your Costume Racially, Culturally, or Ethnically Based?’ appeared in dorms last week courtesy of the school’s Residence Education and Housing Services. The placards feature examples of ‘costume fails’: a guy dressed like a mariachi, women dressed as a Native American (‘hypersexualized racism’) and in a Japanese kimono, and … a space alien (allegedly represents ‘illegal aliens’?).” (Read more from “Happy Halloween! Cultural Appropriation’s National Holiday Is Called Halloween

If cultural appropriation had a national holiday, it would be Halloween. That’s the day on the Western calendar when African-American tykes don the outfit of Black Panther, a superhero created for Marvel Comics by two Jews born in Manhattan to immigrant parents from Romania (Stan Lee) and Austria (Jack Kirby).

The names of both those comic-book creators are themselves appropriations (i.e., Americanizations): Lee was born Stanley Martin Lieber; Kirby was born Jacob Kurtzberg. But when you see an African-American child in a Black Panther outfit, it’s difficult to know who is appropriating what culture. . .

This Halloween you may also see plenty of children—black, white, Asian-American, etc.—wearing Superman costumes. Superman also is the creation of two Jews: Jerry Siegel, born in Ohio to immigrants from Lithuania; and Joseph Shuster, born in Toronto to immigrants from the Netherlands.

Superman is neither a Jew, an American, nor even a Canadian (neither is he a bird or a plane). Superman is an alien from the planet Krypton and his birth name is Kal-El. If you come across a photograph of a Chinese child racing through a park in Shanghai while dressed up as Superman and you find yourself longing to cry: “Cultural appropriation!” first ask yourself: Whose culture is being appropriated? . . .

More than likely, no one would ever complain about a Chinese child appropriating American popular culture, because the illiberal lefties who worry about such things are able to see cultural appropriation only when it is the West appropriating from the East, or whites appropriating from blacks. That is odd, because there is a long history of Easterners imitating Western culture, and blacks embracing white culture. Children Over the Age of 12 in This U.S. Town Can Be Jailed and Fined for Trick-Or-Treating

Children over the age of 12 in Chesapeake, Virginia, will face fines and jail time if they’re caught trick-or-treating this year. . .

According to Chesapeake’s town code, any child age 13 and over could see up to six months in jail and be subject to fines ranging anywhere from $25 to $100.

The code states: “If any person over the age of 12 years shall engage in the activity commonly known as ‘trick or treat’ or any other activity of similar character or nature under any name whatsoever, he or she shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and shall be punished by a fine of not less than $25.00 nor more than $100.00 or by confinement in jail for not more than six months or both.” . . .

“According to the City of Chesapeake, police will focus on making sure the evening is safe for everyone, not actively seeking out violations of the time or age limits,” the website reads. “For example, a thirteen year old safely trick or treating with a younger sibling is not going to have any issues.” . . .

For example, the cities of Hampton, Newport News, Norfolk, Portsmouth, Suffolk, Virginia Beach, Williamsburg/James City County, and York County all have the 12-years-old age limit. However, these cities and counties don’t have jail time for violators. (Read more from “Children Over the Age of 12 in This U.S. Town Can Be Jailed and Fined for Trick-Or-Treating” HERE)
