Ilhan Omar Hit with Campaign Violations

Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) was found by the Minnesota Campaign Finance and Public Disclosure Board on Thursday to have committed several campaign finance violations — and its findings have revived old questions about the legality of her marriage.

In July 2018, Minnesota State Rep. Steve Drazkowski (R-Mazeppa) filed a complaint with the board against the Neighbors for Ilhan (Omar) campaign committee, which had supported her campaign for state representative. He claimed that she had improperly spent campaign funds on legal work related to her divorce. He later filed additional complaints that she had improperly spent campaign funds on out-of-state travel.

The board’s investigation into Omar found several violations. It noted that while none of Omar’s legal expenses had been for her divorce, she had spent $1,500 on legal expenses related to her personal taxes that were not sufficiently related to the campaign. Furthermore, the board found that some of her out-of-state travel expenses were not related to her legislative duties. She has been ordered to pay reimbursements to her campaign, to file amended campaign finance statements, and to pay a civil fine of $500 to the state.

The board’s report also noted that Omar and Ahmed Hirsi, her current husband, “filed joint tax returns for 2014 and 2015.” That could add fuel to persistent allegations that Omar had been married to two men at the same time — one of whom, Ahmed Nur Said Elmi, City Journal noted in 2016, was rumored (though never proven) to be her brother. . .

The campaign finance board’s report notes that Omar filed joint tax returns with Hirsi. But by her own admission in 2016, she was not yet legally divorced from Elmi. There is no legal basis for a joint filing by an unmarried couple. (Read more from “Ilhan Omar Hit with Campaign Violations” HERE)

Ilhan Omar Has Bizarre Response to 2020 Dem’s Request to Debate AOC

By Fox News. Rep. Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., rebuked a 2020 Democratic presidential candidate on Wednesday after he defended his offer to debate Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y. . .

She was responding to former Rep. John Delaney, D-Md., who pushed to debate Ocasio-Cortez after she told him to “sashay away” from the 2020 field, citing his position on “Medicare-for-all”

Delaney appeared to provoke the ire of California Democrats on Saturday when he told the state’s Democratic convention that “Medicare-for-all” was bad policy. . .

When Ocasio-Cortez, a prominent “Medicare-for-all” supporter, criticized Delaney’s statement, he requested a debate with the progressive congresswoman.

Her refusal prompted the response that Omar blasted on Wednesday. “At a minimum, we have to be tolerant of different views on achieving the same goal: universal healthcare,” Delaney tweeted, alongside an article about Ocasio-Cortez’s refusal. Ocasio-Cortez Fights Against Solitary Confinement for Manafort

By Politico. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez on Wednesday took up an unlikely cause — the plight of convicted fraudster Paul Manafort.

The progressive lawmaker expressed alarm at reports that President Donald Trump’s former campaign chairman would likely be held in isolation after his expected transfer to Rikers Island — the New York City jail complex is in her congressional district — to face additional state fraud charges.

“A prison sentence is not a license for gov torture and human rights violations. That’s what solitary confinement is,” Ocasio-Cortez tweeted. “Manafort should be released, along with all people being held in solitary.”

The freshman lawmaker doubled down on her comments when told that Manafort may technically be placed in protective custody. She tweeted that protective custody is a separate method, but “does not necessarily exclude solitary. If he is in fact not being held in solitary, great. Release everyone else from it, too.”

Revoke Rep. Ilhan Omar’s Marriage Fraud Immunity Card

If you are not a member of the Democrats’ protected class of bitter loudmouths who hate America, you can be investigated and prosecuted for marriage fraud. The headlines have been filled with recent crackdowns. . .

You wouldn’t know it from the radio silence of Democratic leaders regarding radioactive Minnesota Rep. Ilhan Omar’s long-festering and bizarre bigamy scheme (which she still refuses to address), but marriage fraud is a federal felony. As the Department of Homeland Security makes clear, it is a serious crime—not a victimless, harmless infraction—that “weakens our nation’s security and makes us less safe.” . . .

We have enough native-born scam artists and fraudsters without having to import more from around the world. But you know what’s even more of an insult than an ordinary foreign marriage faker? An entitled, arrogant, and unrepentant marriage faker hiding behind the “Islamophobia” and “sexism” cards. Yes, I’m looking at you, Omar.

Investigations dating back to 2016 by blogger Scott Johnson of Power Line (which recently celebrated 15 years in the blogosphere), David North of the Center for Immigration Studies, Alpha News reporter Preya Samsundar, and PJMedia.com reporter David Steinberg have determined that the outspoken Somalian Muslim refugee likely married her own brother named Ahmed Elmi in 2009 for some unknown ill-gotten gain while still informally married to the man she calls her husband and father of her three children, Ahmed Hirsi.

After a Somalian website floated questions about the marriage arrangement with Elmi and Johnson’s initial reporting broke into the local news, Omar sought to divorce Elmi. Her use of $6,000 in state campaign funds, some of which went to pay a personal divorce lawyer, is currently under state investigation. (Read more from “Revoke Rep. Ilhan Omar Dramatically Attacks Trump: He’s Droning Jihadis ‘to Death’

By Breitbart. Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN), during a House panel hearing on Thursday, complained that U.S. President Donald Trump has dramatically intensified American airstrikes in her native Somalia that have killed hundreds of members of the al-Qaeda affiliate al-Shabaab.

Describing herself as “an African on this committee,” she suggested that the Trump administration should “reassess” the way it deals with al-Shabaab and other jihadis in Somalia. . .

Omar told the Trump administration witnesses invited to testify:

I just wanted to really get into this horrific reign of terror and its spread in Africa, and we oftentimes are really dealing with this issue, and it seems that we are attempting to drone it to death. … In Somalia, particularly in dealing with al-Shabaab, since President Trump has gotten elected, the number of drones have increased, but the number of attacks al-Shabaab has been able to carry out has also tripled. We also know the same to be true for Boko Haram.

On the African continent, the United States military only carries out direct airstrikes in Libya and Somalia. The U.S. does not directly target the Nigeria-based Boko Haram group, but it does support local efforts against the jihadis. U.S. on Track to Nearly Triple Airstrike Record in Somalia

By Long War Journal. The US military continues to target Shabaab’s conventional forces in Somalia with record fury. In one of its latest airstrike, US Africa Command killed eight Shabaab fighters as the group attacked a combined US and Somali force outside of the Somalia capital on March 11.

The US is now on pace to nearly triple last year’s record number of airstrikes against Shabaab, al Qaeda’s branch in East Africa. Monday’s strike marked the 26th time the AFRICOM has hit Shabaab in the first 10 weeks of 2019 – a staggering increase from the record-high total of 47 strikes in 2018.

The operational tempo against Shabaab has increased dramatically since President Trump took office. In the final year of the Obama Administration, the US launched 15 strikes against Shabaab. In 2017, under Trump, the US hit Shabaab 31 times and the Islamic State another 4 times. (Read more from “US on Track to Nearly Triple Airstrike Record in Somalia” HERE)

Ilhan Omar DEFENDS Socialist Venezuela, Puts Blame on U.S. For Chaos

By The Blaze. Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) put the blame of the failures of the socialist dictatorship in Venezuela squarely on the shoulders of the United States in an interview Wednesday.

Congressmember Ilhan Omar,” asked PBS anchor Amy Goodman, “if you can comment what’s taking place right now in Venezuela, the U.S. supported coup attempt against President Maduro.” . . .

“And we sort of set the stage for what we’re arriving today, this particular bullying and the use of sanctions to eventually intervene and make regime change,” she explained. “It really does not help the people of countries like Venezuela and it certainly does not help, it’s not in the interest of the United States.”

The Muslim member of Congress is one of the few Democrats who are speaking out against the U.S. efforts to recognize Juan Guaido as the democratic and constitutional interim president in Venezuela. Omar and others instead support the socialist dictatorship of Maduro, who has been using violence to stomp down protests.

Venezuelans Take to Streets as Uprising Attempt Sputters

By AP. Venezuelans heeded opposition leader Juan Guaidó’s call to fill streets around the nation Wednesday but security forces showed no sign of answering his cry for a widespread military uprising, instead dispersing crowds with tear gas as the political crisis threatened to deepen.

Thousands cheered Guaidó in Caracas as he rolled up his sleeves and called on Venezuelans to remain out in force and prepare for a general strike, a day after his bold attempt to spark a mass military defection against President Nicolas Maduro failed to tilt the balance of power.

“It’s totally clear now the usurper has lost,” Guaidó proclaimed, a declaration belied by events on the ground. (Read more from “Venezuelans Take to Streets as Uprising Attempt Sputters” HERE)

Ilhan Omar Goes on Radical Attack Against President Trump

Black Lives Matter and other anti-Trump groups held a rally on the grounds of the Capitol on Tuesday to call for President Donald Trump to be censured for what he said about Rep. Ilhan Omar’s (D-MN) controversial statement that “somebody did something” on 9-11.

People chanted ‘“Hands off Ilhan” and in a series of speeches blamed the president and Republicans for the rise of “white supremacy masked as white nationalism.”

Omar spoke at the event in praise of her homeland of Somalia and said the president and his Party are responsible for recent attacks on synagogues and mosques. . .

“At this moment, the occupant of the White House and his allies are doing everything that they can to distance themselves and misinform the public from the monsters that they created that is [sic] terrorizing the Jewish community and the Muslim community,” Omar said.

“I also happen to be a refugee and immigrant from what they call one of the shithole countries,” Omar said, mocking the president for his alleged comments about war-torn countries like Somalia that drive their people out. There’s Some Irony About Ilhan Omar’s Tweet About Synagogue Shooting

So, you would think that Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) who has a long history of peddling anti-Semitic tropes would probably want to stay away from this one, right? Nope. She tweeted, “Earnest shot & killed Jewish worshippers and bombed a Masjid [Mosque]. Islamophobia and Anti-Semitism are two sides of the same bigoted coin. Let us stand together as Americans in rejecting hate!” She linked to her op-ed she wrote after she was elected to Congress on the matter.

Lady, you said that supporters of Israel exhibited dual loyalty and said Israel had hypotonic powers to blind people to their evil. Oh, there was the “all about the Benjamins” tweet, which centered on AIPAC and its donations. Listen, we get it. As a Democrat, you have separate rules. You can be hypocritical and get away with it. You can be an insufferable condescending pile of garbage, but be viewed as some rising star in a party that has many allies in the liberal media. In real world, Omar is pretty much now a full-blown anti-Semite—and an anti-Semite condemning…anti-Semitism is just wrong. But, as Grabien’s Tom Elliott noted, an anti-Semite who then lectures us about…anti-Semitism is just…there’s no shame. The irony is extreme. Of course, the media has already pegged the true culprit: Donald Trump. (Read more from “There’s Some Irony About Ilhan Omar’s Tweet About Synagogue Shooting” HERE)

Guess Why Omar Is Throwing a Tantrum Now

A few weeks ago, President Donald Trump shared a video of Rep. Ilhan Omar’s (D-MN) previous comments on September 11th. Specifically, she said “some people did something,” refusing to say terrorists committed the heinous acts.

Omar was so upset by the tweet that she went to Twitter’s Chief Executive Officer, Jack Dorsey, demanding to know why the social media platform did not delete Trump’s tweet, the New York Post reported. According to Omar, she received death threats following Trump’s tweet.

During the call, Dorsey said outright that Trump’s tweet didn’t violate the social media platform’s standards. Not only that but the April 12th tweet had been shared on other websites outside of Twitter, the Washington Post reported. . .

“During their conversation, [Dorsey] emphasized that death threats, incitement to violence, and hateful conduct are not allowed on Twitter,” the social media company said in a statement. “We’ve significantly invested in technology to proactively surface this type of content and will continue to focus on reducing the burden on the individual being targeted. Our team has also consistently been in touch with Rep. Omar’s office.” . . .

The video President Trump tweeted wasn’t hate speech. It wasn’t controversial. Omar is upset because she was caught refusing to say terrorists committed the attacks on September 11th. Most Americans can agree that terrorists carried out the deadliest attack on American soil. No one in their right mind would be willing to kill thousands of people for no reason other than because they can. (Read more from “Guess Why Omar Is Throwing a Tantrum Now” HERE)

U.S. Pilot Who Was Shot Down During Somali Raid Responds to Omar’s ‘Disgusting’ Black Hawk Down Tweet

At times, my boss tells me that Twitter can be just a prolonged resignation letter. Bad tweets, unsavory tweets, etc. have been weaponized. From politicians to top NFL draft prospects, like Oklahoma’s Kyler Murray, have been victims. Some of them are pretty bad, no doubt. But most are just hijinks and stupidity that’s often captured and exhibited by teenagers. Now, Twitter could be one’s epitaph in public life, though Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) enjoys the fact that her district is deep blue…and totally insane for electing her. Her anti-Semitic hijinks have been exposed and it’s not just one isolated incident. It dates back to 2012, where she said Israel has hypnotic powers. She accused supporters of Israel of having dual loyalties—a common anti-Semitic trope, and criticized AIPAC with her “all about the Benjamins” tweet. Oh, you know, money, Jewish people, and influence—nothing bigoted about that remark or insinuation. She apologized for the latter, not the former. It has caused much heartburn on her side of the aisle. We saw that when they tried to pass a resolution condemning anti-Semitism, which was then watered down to a ‘bad things are bad’ resolution, exposing that Speaker Nancy Pelosi really can’t corral the nutjobs in her party. As for radical Islamic terrorism, she can’t condemn it.

In March, at a CAIR event, which has been accused of having terror ties, Omar described the 9/11 attacks as an event where “some people did something.” In 2017, she appears to be siding with those who ambushed and killed 18 Americans in Somalia during our intervention in the country’s brutal civil war in the early 1990s.

Well, her resurfaced tweet is not going over well with the veterans who served and fought in Somalia. Chief Warrant Officer Michael Durant (retired), who was one of the pilots of the black hawk helicopter “Super 6-4,” was shot down during the raid and held captive by Aidid’s forces before being released. Actor Ron Eldard portrayed him in the 2002 film. He quickly set the record straight. John Rossomando of The Investigative Project on Terrorism, who unearthed the tweets, has more:

Only 133 Somali militiamen died in the fighting with U.S. Rangers and Delta Force soldiers, Capt. Haad, a representative of the Somali National Alliance (SNA) said in a 2001 interview with Author Mark Bowden. He estimated 500 Somali deaths in his book Black Hawk Down: A Story of Modern War, considered the definitive account of the Battle of Mogadishu. Others put the Somali death toll closer to 1,000. A 2000 Rand Corporation report estimated 300 noncombatants were killed. . .

Durant’s Black Hawk helicopter, code-named “Super 6-4,” was shot down after a rocket-propelled grenade hit its tail rotor. Durant was injured and ran out of ammunition fighting back as a human wave of militia approached. Delta Force snipers Randy Shughart and Gary Gordon were killed when they joined him trying to keep the Somali militia at bay. Each was posthumously awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor. The Somali mob dragged their bodies through the streets of Mogadishu. Durant ultimately was captured and held by Aidid’s militia for 11 days before being released in a prisoner exchange.

Ilhan Omar Sides Against U.S. Soldiers in ‘Black Hawk Down’ Mission

Ilhan Omar sided against US soldiers in Battle of Mogadishu

A 2017 tweet from Somali-American Rep. Ilhan Omar — discovered by John Rossomando of the Investigative Project on Terrorism — appears to slam U.S. soldiers for their efforts in fighting a Somali warlord’s militia during the infamous Battle of Mogadishu.

“he forgets to also mention the thousands of Somalis killed by the American forces that day!” Omar tweeted, using the hashtag “#NotTodaySatan,” in response to a post commemorating the loss of 19 U.S. soldiers during the operation. The epic battle and the U.S. troops’ heroism and sacrifice during the campaign are depicted in the film “Black Hawk Down.”

Vladimir Putin emerges victorious from Mueller probe

Citing a former CIA station chief in Moscow, John Solomon of The Hill makes the case that Russia, and Vladimir Putin himself, emerged victorious as a result of the Mueller probe.

I made a similar argument in February 2018 in Conservative Review, writing that the Mueller probe itself “perfectly serves Russia’s agenda.”

North Korean regime takes shots at Bolton and Pompeo, but keeps Trump in good graces, for now

This weekend, regime officials in North Korea teed off against top U.S. officials Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and national security adviser John Bolton. Media outlets have taken notice of the apparent strategy to target everyone but the president. Some believe that Pyongyang appreciates the president’s less hostile rhetoric and prefers to negotiate with Trump rather than his deputies. Others see a more broad anti-American messaging campaign that is focused on forcing the president’s hand.

VOA reports:

“North Korea has directed a wave of criticism at top White House officials, as talks with the United States have stalled. But one person Pyongyang hasn’t criticized: Donald Trump.”

“The pattern reflects North Korea’s apparent preference to continue negotiating directly with Trump, who has taken a more conciliatory approach to the nuclear talks than many of his deputies,” the report adds. “It also appears to be a carefully calibrated effort by North Korea to increase negotiating pressure on the U.S. without completely derailing the talks.”

US tightens screws on Tehran regime, ends Iranian oil waivers for all nations

The U.S. State Department announced Monday that the Trump administration will discontinue waivers that allow select countries to continue to buy Iran-based energy and thwart U.S. sanctions.

“Today I am announcing that we will no longer granting any exemptions,” Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said Monday. “We are going to zero. We are going to zero across the board.”

Eight countries had previously been granted oil waivers: China, Turkey, Japan, India, South Korea, Taiwan, Italy, and Greece.

The Tehran regime has lashed out against the decision and threatened to close the Strait of Hormuz, a strategically important choke point and a vital shipping route to the Persian Gulf.

Ukraine elects new president on populist platform

Volodymyr Zelenskiy, who is best known in the country as an actor and comedian, has ousted incumbent Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko in a blowout.

“With over 90 percent of the ballots counted, Zelenskiy had 73 percent of the vote with Poroshenko at just under 25 percent,” NBC News reports.

“I’m not yet officially the president, but as a citizen of Ukraine, I can say to all countries in the post-Soviet Union look at us. Anything is possible!” the newly elected president said Sunday night during his victory speech.

Zelenskiy won the presidency on a largely populist platform, promising to enhance the transparency of the political process and to tackle political corruption within the country. (For more from the author of “Ilhan Omar Sides Against U.S. Soldiers in ‘Black Hawk Down’ Mission” please click HERE)
