Ilhan Omar Pushes for Release of Jailed Muslim Brotherhood Leader

Rep. Ilhan Omar — whose short tenure in Congress thus far has been rife with controversy — made a shocking appeal Tuesday, openly pushing for the release of a senior member of the Egyptian Muslim Brotherhood (MB).

Omar took to Twitter Tuesday evening demanding that “Trump” call for the release of Hoda Abdelmonem, a senior member in the Egyptian Muslim Brotherhood’s women’s affiliate.

I quickly confirmed that this was the same Abdelmonem who has for years been a member of the MB, which advocates for Islamist takeover of Egypt.

Abdelmonem remains an influential figure and a senior leader in the Islamist outfit, and the campaign for her release has been a top priority item for Muslim Brotherhood-aligned individuals, groups, and governments. Muslim Brotherhood-tied media networks such as Middle East Eye, Middle East Monitor, and Al Jazeera have dedicated nonstop coverage to this issue, often falsely portraying the Islamist activist as a human rights advocate. Muslim Brotherhood-tied campaigners in the U.S. have continued a full-court press for Abdelmonem’s release.

Additionally, these same entities all remain fiercely opposed to the rule of Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, who in 2013 ousted Mohamed Morsi, the Muslim Brotherhood-affiliated former president in Cairo. So convincing the president to call for the release of their Islamist ally would arguably chip away at el-Sisi’s legitimacy.

After posting a photo of her meeting with pro-Muslim Brotherhood campaigners, Omar then doubled down on her push, retweeting this post linking to an Al Jazeera video that calls for Abdelmonem’s release:

Al Jazeera is the state-controlled, Islamistpromoting media network of the Qatari government, which uses slave labor and funds terrorist organizations throughout the Middle East. Al Jazeera regularly promotes Muslim Brotherhood leaders and groups, which seek to overthrow stable U.S. allies and install Islamist theocracies in their stead.

Since entering Congress, Rep. Omar has continued to show a preference for antagonistic U.S. adversaries and throwback Islamist leaders and groups, as opposed to U.S.-friendly Middle East nations and peaceful reform movements worldwide. She has become a regular on the CAIR speaking circuit. The terror-tied Islamist group raised mountains of cash for her congressional campaign.

The Muslim Brotherhood is classified as a terrorist organization in several nations, including Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Russia, Egypt, and Bahrain. The group has spawned the likes of deceased Al Qaeda chief Osama bin Laden and Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, the leader of ISIS. Republicans in Congress continue to push legislation and directly appeal to President Trump to classify the MB as a foreign terrorist organization, given its tendency for violence and the group’s extremist, anti-American philosophy. Ilhan Omar Braces for Investigation Results

Freshman Rep. Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., marched into Congress demanding the House change its rules so she could dress as she wanted and later made anti-Semitic comments that prompted a resolution.

Now she’s facing an investigation into complaints she spent campaign funds on her divorce lawyer as well as personal travel. . .

“The complaints were filed last year, while Omar cruised to election to the House of Representatives, by a Republican state lawmaker, Rep. Steve Drazkowski. In referring Omar to the Minnesota Campaign Finance Board, Drazkowski alleged that Omar improperly spent close to $6,000 in campaign funds for personal use, including payments to her divorce attorney and for travel to Boston and Estonia,” the report said. . .

Drazkowski has posted various updates on his website, the report said, including “quotations from formal notifications he said he had received from the campaign finance board in which the panel apparently informed Drazkowski that it had commenced the investigation into the two matters.”

One notification said: “The Omar Committee’s 2017 year-end report shows several noncampaign disbursements for out-of-state travel for Rep. Omar to attend various events. … The information on the committee’s 2017 year-end report does not indicate how attendance at these events would have helped Rep. Omar in the performance of her legislative duties.” (Read more from “Ilhan Omar Braces for Investigation Results” HERE)

Pelosi’s Defense of Ilhan Omar Just Took an Interesting Turn

So, with the Mueller report being dropped over the weekend, the Ilhan Omar fiasco has been buried…for now. The Minnesota Democratic congresswoman has engulfed her party in an anti-Semitism pickle that exposed the cracks in the new House majority. It also showed that Speaker Nancy Pelosi is incapable of controlling the far left-wing elements within her own caucus. She caved.

Omar has a long history of peddling anti-Semitism. From tweeting about Israel’s hypnotic powers in 2012 to allegations of dual loyalty lobbed at supporters of the Jewish state, it’s been ugly. The dual loyalty fiasco is by far the worst example of explicit anti-Semitism peddled by Omar, one that she has yet to offer an apology. It’s not going to happen, of course. It did force House Democrats to vote on a resolution condemning anti-Semitism, but a closed-door meeting led to a rumble between Democrats who wanted to vote for a strong resolution to those who wanted to water it down because they didn’t want to single out Omar. It took days for the Left to get their act together and in the end; the resolution became an all-encompassing anti-bad things resolution that was straight trash.

Pelosi then had to do her job and defend Omar, which she did by pretty much calling her an idiot, saying she cannot be anti-Semitic because she doesn’t understand words. Again, if she’s that dense, why is she on a key house committee—Foreign Affairs—and no one should buy that so-called defense anyway. Omar has lived her for nearly a quarter-century. She’s been educated here. The way you know there’s no defense of Omar’s alleged bigotry is that the Left is going way over the top to defend her. We have Democrats downplaying the Holocaust. Yet, did Pelosi just gut her ‘Omar is a moron’ defense at AIPAC? She did say those who peddle anti-Semitism are anti-American (via NTK Network):

Without mentioning her by name, Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) took a swing at fellow House Democrat Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) for her recent string of anti-Semitic comments, declaring at AIPAC on Tuesday that “to be anti-Semitic is to be anti-American.”

Omar Encourages Muslims to ‘Raise Hell, Make People Uncomfortable’ — Then She Targets Trump

Controversial freshman Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) encouraged some 400 Los Angeles-area Muslims Saturday to “raise hell” and stand defiant in the face of what she characterized as rampant discrimination against the Muslim community. . .

“I say raise hell, make people uncomfortable,” Omar said. “Because here’s the truth. For far too long, we have lived with the discomfort of living as second class citizens, and frankly I’m tired of it and every single Muslim in this country should be tired of it.” . . .

“We finally have a leader, a world leader, in the White House who publicly says ‘Islam hates us,’ who fuels hate against Muslims, who think it is OK to speak about a faith and a whole community in a way that is dehumanizing, vilifying, and doesn’t understand — or at least makes us think he doesn’t understand — the consequences his words might have,” Omar said.

“Some people, like me, know that [Trump] understands the consequences,” she claimed. “He know that there are people that he can influence to threaten our lives, to diminish our presence.”

What?! Rep. Ilhan Omar Said What About…Israel and Palestine

. . .Omar has engulfed her entire party in an anti-Semitism flap that isn’t going away. For starters, she keeps peddling this bigoted trash. In 2012, she accused Israel of hypnotizing the world, then in the House, she had the ‘all about the Benjamins’ tweet concerning AIPAC and donations. And now, she accused those who support Israel of dual loyalty. It forced the House to vote on a watered-down resolution against bad things, which was originally against anti-Semitism, but some Democrats feared it would single Omar out. The Democratic Party is rapidly becoming an anti-Jewish and anti-Israel party. Speaker Nancy Pelosi seems incapable of confronting these new radicals. And now, she’s hit another iceberg on the Israeli-Palestinian front, writing an op-ed supporting a two-state solution (via Washington Post):

I support a two-state solution, with internationally recognized borders, which allows for both Israelis and Palestinians to have their own sanctuaries and self-determination. This has been official bipartisan U.S. policy across two decades and has been supported by each of the most recent Israeli and Palestinian leaders, as well as the consensus of the Israeli security establishment. As Jim Mattis, who later was President Trump’s defense secretary, said in 2011, “The current situation between those two peoples is unsustainable.”

Working toward peace in the region also means holding everyone involved accountable for actions that undermine the path to peace — because without justice, there can never be a lasting peace. When I criticize certain Israeli government actions in Gaza or settlements in the West Bank, it is because I believe these actions not only threaten the possibility of peace in the region — they also threaten the United States’ own national security interests.

. . .

Yeah, sounds all good, until you get to her apparent support for the anti-Israel Boycott, Disinvestment, and Sanctions movement that has been accused of being viciously anti-Semitic. Well, the apple doesn’t fall too far from the tree, huh? Melissa Weiss, national campus director for the Simon Wiesenthal Center, asked on Twitter, how could Omar support this policy, while being a supporter of the BDS movement. The short answer is you cannot, especially when the BDS crew doesn’t hold that view. (Read more from “What?! Rep. Ilhan Omar Said What About…Israel and Palestine” HERE)

When Omar Met Erdogan: The Unearthed Report From Their 2017 Meeting

About a year and a half ago, on Sept. 18, 2017, a relatively unknown Minnesota state representative flew to New York City to hold a closed-door meeting with the president of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who was in town for the 72nd U.N. General Assembly. This meeting of now-Rep. Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., with Mr. Erdogan, the despotic ruler of Turkey, went almost entirely unreported, as it was not open to the press and Omar was not a high-profile figure. Since then, photos of the meeting surfaced on social media, but it largely appeared that there was no report detailing what happened during the hour-long meeting.

But one local Minnesota paper that covers the Somali community did receive access to the Erdogan-Omar meeting. That publication is the relatively obscure Tusmo Times, a Somali paper that covers the Twin Cities metro area. Abdirahman Mukhtar, its founder and editor, wrote a story in the Somali language discussing the meeting. For reasons unknown, the piece has since been deleted by the Tusmo Times. However, a copy of the report was obtained from archive.org’s Wayback Machine and translated by One Hour Translate.

The story makes clear, through photos and text, that Omar led the Minnesota-based Somali delegation (which included her non-politician husband, who is seen next to her in photos) that met with Erdogan. This is quite remarkable, given that Omar was then a mere Minnesota state representative, meeting face to face with the leader of an 80-million-person nation with one of the most powerful militaries in the world.

Speaking to the Tusmo Times, Omar said, according to the translation, that she met with Erdogan for about an hour and that the two discussed issues involving Omar’s native Somalia and issues for Somalis in Minnesota. She thanked Erdogan for Turkey’s support for the Rohingya people in Myanmar. The two also discussed investment and trade between Turkey and Somalia. The meeting ended with Erdogan asking Omar to voice her support for Turkey. The report concludes by adding that Omar not only met with Erdogan, but also with the Turkish prime minister and other senior Turkish officials.

While it’s not particularly shocking that Omar remains invested in the success of her native country, the Minnesota representative has been consistently sowing doubt about whether U.S. Jews as a whole can fairly represent American interests. She has taken to using anti-Semitic tropes in maintaining that support for Israel in the Jewish community is an example of having dual loyalties.

Of course, support for Israel, the only liberal democratic country in the Middle East, is not remotely comparable to her continuing support for the rogue dictatorships in Turkey and Somalia.

The day the story was posted, Omar tweeted about her meeting with Erdogan, linking to the now-deleted Tusmo Times piece.

When news of the meeting surfaced, she immediately received fierce blowback on several social media platforms for propping up Erdogan.

“Did you ask Erdogan about the jailed journalists?” wrote one respondent on her Facebook page. “How about the 100 thousand innocent people he jailed in Turkey.”

“Did you discuss the atrocities of the Armenian Genocide and his refusal to recognize them?” said another individual.

“What the hell is wrong with you?? He’s a DICTATOR,” another replied.

It remains unclear when the article was deleted from the Tusmo Times, but other stories from around the same time remain on the publication’s website, so it doesn’t appear that the disappearance of the September 2017 article involves a storage issue.

The Erdogan-Omar meeting came on the heels of a major incident in Washington, D.C. involving the Turkish delegation. A few months earlier, Erdogan appeared to order his bodyguards to brutally attack protesters outside a Turkish diplomatic compound in the U.S. capital. A similar incident occurred in New York just days after the Omar-Erdogan meeting, when Erdogan’s security detail roughed up demonstrators protesting Erdogan’s crimes against the Kurds.

The Erdogan-Omar meeting occurred one year following a supposed failed coup attempt against Erdogan. Erdogan later weaponized the reported coup attempt to imprison thousands of academics, journalists, students, and democracy activists. Over the course of Erdogan’s presidency, Turkey has abandoned its secular founding and has transitioned into an aspiring Islamist theocracy that supports terrorist groups throughout the Middle East and greater Islamic world.

Although Rep. Omar has not spoken out much about the politics of her homeland, Somalia remains a ruthless dictatorship that abuses the rights of its citizens. Omar, however, continues to endorse candidates for president there, as if the largely failed state is representative of a liberal democracy.

Rep. Omar published an op-ed in the Washington Post Sunday attempting to clear up her controversial foreign policy views, proclaiming herself a champion of international human rights. She wrote that U.S. foreign policy must “center human rights, justice and peace as the pillars of America’s engagement in the world,” yet noticeably said nothing about the radicalism of Erdogan and other Islamist regimes throughout the world.

One month after her meeting with Erdogan, Omar thanked Turkey for delivering aid to Somalia after a series of bombings in Mogadishu.

Erdogan’s administration has continuously bailed out the corrupt dictatorship in Somalia, providing its leadership with military support, economic aid, and even food rations when necessary. In late 2017, Turkey opened up a large military base in Somalia and has since given weapons and aid to Somali soldiers. Omar Now Feels Targeted by a News Outlet

Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) on Friday shared a tweet with part of a prayer from the Quran, which literally translated to “We belong to Allah and to Allah we shall return.”

The Hill wrote a piece about Omar’s tweet, which was literally nothing more than a translation of what she said.

Omar seemed to take offense to the article because she felt she was being singled out. At the end of the tweet where she slammed The Hill, Omar included another short Muslim prayer about redemption. “I seek forgiveness from Allah,” is what it translates to.

here was nothing offensive about what The Hill wrote. Absolutely nothing. All they did was share what Omar said and where it came from. . .

Omar wants to continually to push this theory that everyone is against her because she’s Muslim, which is the furthest thing from the truth. People have condemned her anti-Semitic tropes. No one has said anything about her faith. If anything, she has been persecuting people for their faith. (Read more from “Omar Now Feels Targeted by a News Outlet” HERE)

The Roots of Ilhan Omar’s Extremism and Anti-Semitism

Minnesota Democrat Rep. Ilhan Omar’s anti-Semitism and Islamic supremacism are very likely a product of her upbringing and an accompanying U.S. policy failure on assimilation.

In her native Somalia, Omar grew up in a completely Judenrein (free of Jews) country. Many in the region have come to rely upon and promulgate anti-Jewish mysticism, folklore, and conspiracy theories, in addition to Islamic fundamentalist teachings to come to their conclusions about Jews. In much of the Middle East and North Africa, the Jews are to blame for all of one’s struggles in life. And this actually has very little to do with the State of Israel. Anti-Jewish sentiment has remained consistent in the Islamic world for centuries.

Abe Greenwald described the anti-Jewish folklore that permeates the Islamic world in an article for Commentary magazine earlier this year. “In the Greater Middle East, from which Omar’s family hails, conspiracy theory is the coin of the realm, and much self-inflicted grief is blamed on dark Jewish magic,” Greenwald wrote in January, in reacting to Omar’s earlier anti-Semitic comments.

In recent years, the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) conducted a global anti-Semitism survey. Throughout most of the Islamic world, anti-Semitism remained overwhelming, widespread, and consistent. However, Somalia was not included in the anti-Semitism survey, possibly for safety reasons, as it is largely a failed state.

The values of Somalia are as far removed from American values as you can get. In Somalia, Islam is the only acceptable religion. Everyone must be a Muslim or be prepared to face tremendous consequences for “insulting Islam.” This is something that Rep. Omar appears to have no issue with, although she rejects a Jewish-based state in the Middle East. Omar remains active in the internal politics of Somalia. She recently endorsed a candidate for president there.

Moreover, blasphemy laws in Somalia maintain that blasphemy of Islam (not accepting Islam as your faith or mocking Islam) is punishable by multiple years in prison, or even a death sentence if necessary. The constitution of Somalia maintains that “Islam is the religion of the State,” adding that “No religion other than Islam can be propagated in the country.”

These restrictions in the Somali constitution are completely antithetical to the Western values that we hold so dear in the United States. Yet when Somali refugees make their way to the United States, it appears that for the most part, the Somali values system remains intact.

See, for example, this investigative video from filmmaker Ami Horowitz on the Somali community in Minnesota:

It has become quite clear that too many in the Somali community in Rep. Omar’s district have failed to adopt Western values. It’s certainly legitimate to ask whether it’s ever a good idea to import individuals whose values and customs are so foreign to Western values. Logic may tell us that these refugees may find a more accommodating home elsewhere in the Islamic world. But legislators and past presidents who have imported these communities en masse have also imposed U.S. policies that have worsened the issue. These policies allow the pooling together of refugee communities, essentially encouraging them not to assimilate.

And these U.S. sanctuary policies, coupled with broken immigration and refugee policies, have turned Somali refugee communities, particularly the one in Ilhan Omar’s district, into Islamic terrorism recruitment havens.

Somali refugees in Ilhan Omar’s Minnesota district have become the terrorist recruitment capital of the United States. As ISIS came to power, dozens of Somalis left Minnesota to link up with the Islamic terrorist groups. But long before ISIS, others in Omar’s district routinely hopped on the next flight out to join al Shabaab- and al Qaeda-linked groups in Africa.

We cannot ignore the alarming statistics from Rep. Omar’s district. “FBI stats show 45 Somalis left to join the ranks of either the Somalia-based Islamic insurgency al-Shabab, or the Iraq- and Syria-based ISIS combined. And as of 2018, a dozen more had been arrested with the intention of leaving to support ISIS,” Fox News reported in February.

Given what we know about Ilhan Omar, we should not at be at all surprised when we continue to hear about her Islamic supremacist connections and anti-Semitic rhetoric. Omar is an unassimilated refugee who has, according to the sums of public evidence in front of us, rejected the American way. And if U.S. policies continue to defer to the customs of the homelands of refugee communities, in addition to entirely ignoring the anti-American customs of migrant communities, we can surely expect to see many more Ilhan Omars join the ranks of Congress. Judge Jeanine Has a Concerning Theory About Where Omar’s Allegiance Lies

By Townhall. During her Fox News show on Saturday, Judge Jeanine Pirro posed an interesting question about Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN): does she hold her allegiance to Sharia Law? . . .

“Omar wears a hijab, which, according to the Quran 33:59, tells women to cover so they won’t get molested,” Pirro told her audience. “Is her adherence to this Islamic doctrine indicative of her adherence to Sharia law, which in itself is antithetical to the United States Constitution?” . . .

Omar has garnered attention for her anti-Semitic comments, specifically about Americans’ loyalty to Israel. In her eyes, anyone who advocates for Israel is more loyal to Israelis than Americans.

Last week, the House passed a resolution condemning anti-Semitism, which was a direct result of Omar’s numerous anti-Semitic comments. Even after the resolution passed, Omar stood her ground, saying her comments started a “difficult conversation” that can lead to “great progress.”

GOP Leader Accuses Dems of ‘Enabling Anti-Semitism’ by Defending Ilhan Omar

By New York Post. A top GOP House leader accused Democrats of trying to “protect” Rep. Ilhan Omar and “enabling anti-Semitism” by failing to single out her anti-Israel comments on the House floor.

“I think it was really clearly an effort to actually protect Ilhan Omar,” Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.) told NBC’s “Meet the Press” on Sunday. “To cover up her bigotry and anti-Semitism by refusing to name her. The Democrats have yet to take any action to remove her from her committee. And they’ve got a real problem.”

Cheney voted against a bipartisan House resolution Thursday that condemned anti-Semitism and many other forms of hatred and bigotry.

The broad resolution failed to single-out Omar specifically for comments she made that suggested that supporters of Israel have an allegiance to a foreign country. (Read more from “GOP Leader Accuses Dems of ‘Enabling Anti-Semitism’ by Defending Ilhan Omar” HERE)

Ilhan Omar Claims Her Obama Comments Were Distorted, but Newly Released Evidence Reveals the Truth

By The Blaze. In an interview with Politico Magazine, Omar harshly criticized former President Barack Obama for policies that dominated his administration, which Omar and other progressive lawmakers believe contributed to the current political climate.

“We can’t be only upset with Trump,” Omar told Politico. “His policies are bad, but many of the people who came before him also had really bad policies. They just were more polished than he was. And that’s not what we should be looking for anymore. We don’t want anybody to get away with murder because they are polished. We want to recognize the actual policies that are behind the pretty face and the smile.” . . .

“Exhibit A of how reporters distort words. I’m an Obama fan! I was saying how Trump is different from Obama, and why we should focus on policy not politics. This is why I always tape my interviews,” Omar tweeted, including audio from the interview. . .

However, there is one problem for Omar. As many of the left and right noted, the audio Omar released only corroborated Politico’s reporting.

Ilhan Omar Claims Her Obama Comments Were Distorted, Then Posts Audio Confirming Controversial Remarks

By Fox News. Rep. Ilhan Omar’s attempt to shame a news outlet for misquoting her blistering attack on former President Barack Obama backfired after she released audio of the interview that only served to confirm her remarks.

The Minnesota Democrat, who’s faced controversy over comments perceived as anti-Semitic, got into hot water yet again after saying Obama’s “hope and change” message was a “mirage” and slammed the administration’s drone and border-detention policies. . .

But the move immediately backfired as the recording actually confirmed the comments she made to the news outlet. By Saturday afternoon, she had deleted the tweet.

“I think for many of us, we think of ourselves as Democrats. But many of the ways that our Democratic leaders have conducted themselves within the system is not one that we are all proud of,” she said in the recording.

“You know, I will talk about the family separation or caging of kids and then people will point out that this was wrong – I mean this was Obama. And you know I’ll say something about the droning of countries around the world and people will say that was Obama. And all of that is very true. What is happening now is very different. A lot is happening with secrecy. It’s happening with the feel-good polished way of talking about it.
