Ted Cruz: Obama Admin. “Counterfeiting Immigration Documents” [+video]

Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, believes that the Obama administration is “counterfeiting immigration documents” under the president’s immigration plan.

Speaking to Fox News following a federal judge’s decision to temporarily halt President Barack Obama’s executive action on immigration, the potential Republican presidential contender said the commander in chief is ignoring federal law.

“One of the things it points out is the president has claimed, rather absurdly, that the basis of his authority is ‘prosecutorial discretion.’ That he’s simply choosing not to prosecute 4.5 million people here illegally,” Cruz told Fox News. “But what the district court concluded, quite rightly, is they’re doing far more than that. The administration is printing work authorizations. It is affirmatively acting in contravention of federal law. Basically, what its doing is counterfeiting immigration documents, because the work authorizations its printing are directly contrary to the text of federal law. It is dangerous when the president ignores federal law” . . .

“It’s interesting, (Obama) said the law is on his side. There’s at least one person who calls himself a legal scholar who disagrees, and his name is Barack Obama,” Cruz said. “Twenty-two times President Obama has admitted he doesn’t have the authority to issue unilateral amnesty. Twenty-two times he says the constitution doesn’t allow it. He said, ‘This is not a monarchy.’ That’s his quote. And then after the last election, he said never mind and issued it anyway.” (Read more from this story about the Obama Admin. Counterfeiting Immigration Documents HERE)

Lawless Obama Admin. Now Granting Visas to Illegal Aliens’ Relatives, Sets Up Complaint Hotlines for Unhappy Illegals

By Stephen Dinan. The Homeland Security Department has set up hotlines for illegal immigrants who believe their rights under President Obama’s amnesty policy have been violated.

In a memo announcing the customer complaint line, U.S. Customs and Border Protection asked illegal immigrants to “please tell us about your experience” if they believe they were treated “contrary to the new DHS enforcement priorities.”

The department alerted “stakeholders” last week of three complaint hotlines: one for CBP, which oversees the Border Patrol; one for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, which handles immigration laws in the nation’s interior; and one for U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, which is poised to handle the millions of amnesty applications expected to be filed. By Numbers USA. United States Customs and Immigration Services (USCIS) has announced a new program that will allow for the extended families of illegal aliens from certain countries to enter the United States legally.

The “In-Country Refugee/Parole Processing for Minors in Honduras, El Salvador and Guatemala,” or the “Central American Minors (CAM)” was originally announced in November as a solution to last summer’s surge of unaccompanied alien children into the U.S. The expansion announced yesterday is “primarily targeted at” children of a qualifying parent from El Salvador, Guatemala, or Honduras. However, the expansion will also allow include spouses, grandchildren, and adult children of illegal aliens to be eligible for residency, citizenship, and government benefits.

According to the Daily Caller, the announcement is also open to the estimated 5 million beneficiaries of President Obama’s disputed 2012 and 2014 amnesties and would give them legal means to win permanent residency. (Read more from this story HERE)

Jeb Bush: We Need to Dramatically Expand Immigrants Coming to Work (+video)

By Pam Key. Wednesday at the Detroit Economic Club, former Gov. Jeb Bush (R-FL) said to “create high, sustained economic growth,” we need to “dramatically expand immigrants that are coming to work.”

Bush said, “It seems to me we ought to be strategic about this about how do we create high, sustained economic growth. And that is to shift away from family reunification being almost the sole driver of illegal immigration to narrowing that do what every other country has, spouse and minor children. And dramatically expanding immigrants that are coming to work. A guest worker program to deal in the areas where there are shortages.”

Jeb Bush: Opportunity Gap is ‘Defining Issue of Our Time’

By Benjy Sarlin. Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush called America’s opportunity gap “the defining issue of our time” Wednesday in Detroit, where he delivered one of his first major speeches since announcing in December that he may run for president.

Speaking at the Detroit Economic Club, Bush took aim at the slow pace of economic recovery since the 2008 financial crisis. “More Americans are stuck at their income levels than ever before,” Bush said.

He blamed Washington politicians for not understanding the needs of millions around the country still looking for work. Bush took aim at what he called a federal bureaucracy that creates a “spider web that traps people in perpetual dependence” on government. (Read more from this story HERE)

L.A. Officials Pledge to Raise $10 Million to Help Illegal Aliens

Photo Credit: Washington Times By L.A. Times. Los Angeles leaders said Friday they hope to raise $10 million to help immigrants in the country illegally apply for President Obama’s deferred action programs, which would offer some protection from deportation.

Mayor Eric Garcetti said it’s important that the nearly half a million people eligible for immigration relief in the Los Angeles area apply for the programs. The mayor announced the plan during an event at his home with immigrant advocates and a top immigration enforcement official.

“It will make our communities and our streets safer,” said Garcetti, who added that the goal is to help at least 100,000 immigrants apply.

The plan is a joint effort between the city of Los Angeles and the California Community Foundation, a philanthropy group that often works on immigration issues. The group’s director, Antonia Hernandez, said her organization has already raised $5 million from organizations including the Weingart Foundation and the California Endowment. Much of the money will be distributed to area nonprofits that work with immigrants, Hernandez said. (Read more about the officials wanting to help illegal aliens HERE)

Illegal Aliens Released From Custody Committed 1,000 New Crimes

By Stephen Dinan. One thousand of the 36,000 illegal immigrant criminals the government released in 2013 have gone on to commit other crimes, including child sex abuse, hit-and-run and child cruelty, according to new data released Friday evening by Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley.

The information, which the Department of Homeland Security provided to Mr. Grassley, details all 1,000 convictions, including dozens of drunken-driving convictions, drug offenses and weapons convictions. But the more serious crimes include domestic abuse, carjacking and aggravated assault.

One of the illegal immigrants, identified as No. 960, was subsequently convicted of inflicting injury on a domestic partner; child cruelty, with the possibility of injury or death; probation violations; speeding; driving without a license; and failing to appear for court.

“The Obama administration claims that it is using ‘prosecutorial discretion’ to prioritize the removal of criminal aliens from this country. But this report shows the disturbing truth: 1,000 undocumented aliens previously convicted of crimes who the administration released in 2013 have gone on to commit further crimes in our communities,” Mr. Grassley said. Obama Now Delays Deportation Hearings for Illegals to 2019

Photo Credit: Breitbart By Tony Lee. Thousands of illegal immigrants will remain in the United States for at least five more years after the Justice Department moved their deportation hearings to 2019–at the earliest.

The Wall Street Journal reported that the Department of Justice “has begun sending out notices to thousands of immigrants awaiting hearings that their cases will be pushed back nearly five years,” and “began notifying employees in the immigration court system last week that nonpriority cases were being bumped off the court docket and would get a Nov. 29, 2019, court date, which happens to be Black Friday.”

The Journal notes that the 2019 date is “more of a bureaucratic placeholder than an actual plan to hear a flood of cases that day,” which means the hearings could be moved to an even later date in the future.

“Thousands” if not “tens of thousands” illegal immigrants who are “nonpriority cases” and are “living freely” in the United States will reportedly have their hearings delayed. (Read more from “Obama Delays Deportation Hearings” HERE)

County Sheriff: Anything Short Of Murder and Rape Won’t Get You Deported

By Ian Hanchett. Milwaukee County Sheriff David Clarke (D) said that “anything short of murder and rape” is considered a low-level offense for illegal immigrants and will likely not result in deportation on Friday’s “Laura Ingraham Show.”

“When you put that population [criminal aliens] on top of what we’re already dealing with with people who are legally in the United States and involved in crime, it just compounds our problems. One of the most difficult challenges in dealing with criminal aliens is who are they, every time they get arrested, they give you a different name and you look and each one of them comes with 10, 12, 15 aliases and so just identifying them becomes problematic, but once they’re involved in crime, and I know what the left likes to say that low-level offenders shouldn’t be deported. Well, they have dropped the standard to now where burglary and strong-armed robbery are considered low-level offenses, anything short of murder and rape, they say ‘OK, yeah, murder maybe we should deport them,’ I go ‘no, burglary, strong-armed robbery, drug trafficking, drunk driving…all of those things should be included’” he stated. First Sheriff Joe, Now California DMV Ordered to Overlook Identity Theft by Illegal Aliens

Illegal aliens may enjoy a free pass on identity theft due to a new investigative policy at California’s Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV).

The policy, issued last year and effective as of Jan. 1, 2015, directs DMV investigators to overlook identity theft by applicants “who may have attempted to obtain or been issued a license or ID card previously through submission of false information.”

A DMV source who asked to remain anonymous provided Breitbart News exclusively with a copy of the newly-enacted internal policy memorandum. The document informs DMV investigative officers that past identity theft is acceptable when the illegally-acquired IDs were only used to obtain a driver license, and where the license or ID was not used to commit any other crime.

It is unclear how investigators are meant to determine whether a falsely obtained driver license or ID was used solely for driving, or also to commit other crimes, such as using a fraudulently-obtained driver license to open a bank account, to apply for a loan, or even to purchase alcohol.

The policy seems to expect applicants to admit voluntarily to using a fraudulent driver license or ID for purposes other than driving a motor vehicle, if they did so. (Read more about the California DMV HERE)

Federal Judge Orders Sheriff Joe to Stop Arresting Illegal Aliens For Using Stolen Identities

Prosecutors have started dismissing identity-theft cases in light of a judge’s preliminary injunction that bars Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio, Maricopa County Attorney Bill Montgomery and others from enforcing state laws that make it a felony to use a stolen identity to obtain employment.

But legal hurdles remain for the hundreds of immigrants arrested under the contested laws, with many facing additional charges or dealing with the ramifications of being an undocumented immigrant with a felony.

Workplace raids had become the backbone of Arpaio’s immigration-enforcement platform as courts have gradually stripped the office of other devices that critics say targeted undocumented immigrants.

A recent lawsuit aims to dismantle this last legal foothold, and U.S. District Court Judge David Campbell this month ordered law enforcement and prosecutors to stop pursuing ID-theft cases until he issues a final ruling on the case.

The suit focuses on two state statutes, passed in 2007 and 2008, that plaintiffs say were written to make life so difficult for undocumented immigrants that they would opt to “self-deport.” Further, they say, the laws are unconstitutional because they are pre-empted by federal law. Federal Judge Orders State to Issue Illegal Aliens Driver’s Licenses

A federal judge granted a permanent injunction Thursday affirming the ability of young immigrants protected from deportation to obtain an Arizona driver’s license.

The ruling by U.S. District Judge David Campbell came exactly one month after the so-called DREAMers began getting driver’s licenses in Arizona for the first time.

Arizona was one of the last states where officials refused to issue driver’s licenses to young immigrants who were brought to the U.S. illegally as children but allowed to remain under a 2012 Obama administration program.

Former Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer, a Republican, waged a lengthy legal battle over the program.

Courts ruled against Arizona on several occasions and cleared the way for licenses to be issued starting Dec. 22. (Read more from “Arizona Now Must Issue Illegal Aliens Driver’s Licenses” HERE)

California in Now Beginning to Issue Driver’s Licenses to Illegal Aliens

By Jazz Shaw. Welcome to 2015, with the usual hopes for new beginnings and fresh starts. Along with that, there is the expected flood of new laws going into effect all across the nation as proof of the various legislative bodies getting the work of the people done. The people of California in particular will see the fruits of their elected officials’ labors if they show up at the DMV. (As if the lines weren’t long enough already.) Millions of illegal immigrants will now be able to show up without fear of arrest or deportation and get themselves a shiny new driver’s license.

If you needed any further proof of exactly how far the immigration situation in the country has deteriorated, California has joined several other states in completely throwing in the towel here. It’s long been established that driving is a privilege, not a right, and that privilege can be taken away for any of a number of offenses which include driving while impaired, failing to obtain proper registration, inspection and insurance documents or just running too many stop signs. But not, it seems, for violating the nation’s borders, entering illegally, failing to pay taxes or the rest of the fundamental rules under our system of laws which are broken daily by illegal aliens.

There are some minor arguments in favor of of the plan, I admit. Foreign visitors don’t always know the rules of the road in America, so teaching them the proper driving practices might cut down slightly on accidents. But does that advantage come anywhere near overriding the obvious arguments against this? Also, in addition to legitimizing the activities of those who are not legitimate citizens, a piece of identification such as a license if a powerful talisman. True, these new, “special” licenses have a disclaimer on them which indicates that they are not valid as federal identification, but how many people will initially be trained to be aware of the distinction? More than 90 Percent of a Illegal Aliens Group Never Showed Up to Their Immigration Hearings

By Mark Krikorian. Once again, local-TV investigative reporters are showing up their national counterparts.

Recall that this summer the administration insisted the thousands of Central American illegal immigrants it was waving across the border would be put into deportation proceedings and those who did not qualify for asylum would be removed. You’d think, then, that there’d be bigshot D.C. journalists interested in finding out how many actually bothered to attend their immigration hearings.

You’d be wrong. . .

Looking at the completed cases of people who snuck over the border and were released over a three-month period, the reporter found that more than 90 percent of them didn’t show up for their immigration hearings and joined the illegal population. Surprise! (Read more from this story HERE)

Despite “Unprecedented Surge,” 52,701 Fewer Illegal Aliens Deported in U.S in 2014

By Barbara Hollingsworth. Despite “an unprecedented surge of illegal border crossings in the Rio Grande Valley,” 52,701 fewer illegal aliens were deported during Fiscal Year 2014 than during the previous year, according to a report by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

There were 315,943 removals during FY 2014, down from 368,644 in FY 2013, according to the report, which was released by the agency on Dec. 19th.

The FY 2014 removal figure includes 91,037 criminals and 137,983 non-criminals apprehended “while attempting to unlawfully enter the United States.”

However, Houston’s KPRC-TV reported that only a small percentage of families and unaccompanied children who streamed across the border this summer were sent back to their home countries. (Read about the fewer illegal aliens deported HERE)

24 States Continue Their Battle Against Obama’s Immigration Executive Actions

By Hans von Spakovsky. U.S. District Judge Andrew S. Hanen of the Southern District of Texas has scheduled a hearing for Jan. 9 on the request for an injunction filed by 24 states against President Obama’s immigration amnesty plan.

In a nationally televised speech on Nov. 20, Obama announced (and began implementing) the executive actions. The original lawsuit was filed on Dec. 3, and the states requested an injunction hearing by Dec. 31 “or as soon as practicable thereafter.”

The lawsuit claims that Obama has “unilaterally suspend[ed] the immigration laws as applied to 4 million of the 11 million” illegal aliens in the United States.

The states are requesting that Hanen find that the Department of Homeland Security directives implementing Obama’s plan violate the “take care that the laws be faithfully executed” clause of the Constitution, as well as various provisions of the Administrative Procedures Act because they are arbitrary, capricious, an abuse of discretion and were issued without regulatory authority or the required notice and opportunity for public comment. . .

Here are the 24 states involved in the lawsuit:

1.Alabama
2.Arizona
3.Arkansas
4.Florida
5.Georgia
6.Idaho
7.Indiana
8.Kansas
9.Louisiana
10.Maine
