Biden Tries to Walk Back Speech From Hell: ’I Don’t Consider Any Trump Supporter to Be a Threat’ — After Calling Trump Supporters a Threat

President Joe Biden tried Friday to walk back his dark political speech from the night before after receiving considerable backlash for trying to portray supporters of former President Donald Trump as radical extremists who threatened the United States.

“I don’t consider any Trump supporter to be a threat to the country,” Biden replied when asked by reporters at the White House about why he decided to say that Trump and his supporters were a threat to democracy.

The president tried to narrow his definition of exactly who he was talking about when he said “Donald Trump and MAGA Republicans are a threat to the very soul of this country” in his speech Thursday night at Independence Hall in Pennsylvania.

“I do think anyone who calls for the use of violence and fails to condemn violence when it’s used, refuse to acknowledge an election has been won, insists upon changing the way in which the rule – you count votes,” he said. “That is a threat to democracy. Democracy. And everything we stand for.”

Biden tried to walk back his darker assertions, noting that all Trump supporters did not support everything he did. (Read more from “Biden Tries to Walk Back Speech From Hell: ’I Don’t Consider Any Trump Supporter to Be a Threat’ — After Calling Trump Supporters a Threat” HERE)

Ukraine, COVID, and Monkeypox: Biden Asks Congress for Another $47 Billion to Address ‘Critical Needs for the American People’

The White House asked Congress for another $47 billion Friday to address what it considers “immediate needs,” including the spread of monkeypox at home and abroad, the never-ending fight against COVID, and the defense of Ukraine.

President Joe Biden’s request to Congress is aimed at keeping the government open beyond the September 30 expiration of the 2022 fiscal year, according to administration officials, Politico reported. The requested $47 billion includes $6.5 billion to address the recent flooding in Kentucky and wildfires in California, but that’s just a little over half of the $11.7 billion Biden wants to send to Ukraine.

“This Administration will continue to work with members of both parties in Congress to meet these critical needs for the American people, and we look forward to reaching a bipartisan funding agreement that advances national priorities in the coming fiscal year,” Shalanda Young, the director of the Office of Management and Budget wrote Friday.

While the administration carved out some funding to address natural disasters at home, there was no mention of Biden wanting Congress to send money to address the water crisis in Jackson, Mississippi, that has now dragged on for five days. Instead, the president set his short-term priorities on throwing more money toward combatting the already slowing spread of viruses and aiding the war defense of a foreign nation. Did the Previous Federal ‘Assault Weapons’ Ban Actually Work?

This week, President Joe Biden claimed during remarks that ruptured the audience’s eardrums that the previous nationwide ban on so-called “assault weapons” was successful in the mid-1990s and helped to reduce mass shootings for 10 consecutive years until its expiration a decade later. So, did the federal ban actually work?

CLAIM: “I’m determined to ban assault weapons in this country,” Biden declared in a Tuesday speech as he campaigned in the battleground state of Pennsylvania ahead of November’s midterm elections. “Determined,” he repeated. “I did it once before, and we will do it again…It’s not about taking away anybody’s guns,” he insisted.

FACTS: Congress passed a 10-year ban on “assault weapons” under the Violent Crime Control and Law enforcement Act in 1994 back when Biden was a U.S. senator. As a compromise to secure enough votes, the law contained a sunset provision calling for the ban’s repeal after 10 years, and it was not renewed in 2004.

A plethora of research was conducted on the ban’s effectiveness and “consistently found no statistically significant impact on mass public shootings or any other type of crime,” according to a 2018 analysis by the Crime Prevention Research Center. The findings hold true for research funded by the Clinton administration, per think tank Urban Institute’s conclusions in a 1997 final report for the National Institute of Justice: “The evidence is not strong enough for us to conclude that there was any meaningful effect (i.e., that the effect was different from zero).” The same criminologists published a follow-up NIJ study in 2004 where the researchers found: “We cannot clearly credit the ban with any of the nation’s recent drop in gun violence. And, indeed, there has been no discernible reduction in the lethality and injuriousness of gun violence.” The assessment added, “Should it be renewed, the ban’s effects on gun violence are likely to be small at best and perhaps too small for reliable measurement,” mentioning that “[assault weapons] were rarely used in gun crimes even before the ban.”

Biden Targets ‘Extremist’ Trump Allies as Democratic Threat in Fraught Political Moment

By Reuters. U.S. President Joe Biden charged Republican allies of Donald Trump with undermining the country’s democracy and urged voters on Thursday to reject extremism ahead of November’s midterm elections.

Biden accused lawmakers and others devoted to the Make America Great Again (MAGA) agenda led by former U.S. President Trump as willing to overturn democratic elections, ignore the Constitution and “determined to take this country backwards” to a time without rights to abortion, privacy, contraception or same-sex marriage.

“Donald Trump and MAGA Republicans represent an extremism that threatens the very foundations of our republic,” Biden said. “As I stand here tonight, equality and democracy are under assault. We do ourselves no favor to pretend otherwise.”

The prime-time speech in Philadelphia, the birthplace of American democracy, marked a sharp turn for Biden as midterm congressional elections approach.

Aides say the president is increasingly concerned about anti-democratic trends in the Republican Party, and sees a need to jump into this year’s election fight and recast the stakes of his own 2024 re-election bid. ‘It’s Wrong’: CNN Blasts Biden for Using Military as Backdrop for ‘Battle’ Speech

It didn’t take long after Biden finished his rancid, combative remarks in Philadelphia for the reviews of the latest divisive screed from “Mr. Unity” to come in, and they predictably were not favorable from those among the 70 million Americans he declared were hatefully working to bring about the end of democracy:

In addition to the caustic content of Biden’s message — vote for the people I say or you’re a fascist — the staging was also of note, and not just the ominous red hue that bathed the sides of Independence Hall. No, the two Marines standing at attention behind the president grabbed viewers’ eyes. . .

Meanwhile, even CNN talent was unnerved by the display. Chief National Affairs Correspondent Jeff Zeleny took issue with the staging of the Marines behind Biden for such a political speech, calling it a “break with White House traditions.”

Emails Show Biden Admin Colluded With Facebook, Twitter to Censor Americans

The Biden administration colluded with social media companies to censor Americans in an effort that involved at least 45 federal officials at the White House, FBI, Department of Homeland Security, State Department, Treasury Department, U.S. Election Assistance Commission, and more.

Missouri Attorney General Eric Schmitt and Louisiana Attorney General Jeff Landry said in a statement on Thursday that a lawsuit filed earlier this year forced the Department of Justice (DOJ) to reveal emails exposing at least 45 federal officials at the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA), Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), and the Office of the Surgeon General who “communicate[d] with social media platforms about ‘misinformation’ and censorship.’”

Among the DOJ’s disclosures is an email from a senior Facebook official to the Surgeon General, which states, “I know our teams met today to better understand the scope of what the White House expects from us on misinformation going forward.”

Another email shows that Twitter scheduled a meeting to debrief top White House officials on “vaccine misinformation” and “ways the White House (and our COVID experts) can partner in product work.” (Read more from “Emails Show Biden Admin Colluded With Facebook, Twitter to Censor Americans” HERE)

Biden Plans to Give Federal Government Workers a Raise in 2023

President Joe Biden is planning to give federal employees a substantial pay raise in 2023.

In letters to Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and Vice President Kamala Harris in her capacity as President of the Senate, Biden announced his plans to give federal government employees an across-the-board pay raise of 4.1%, with an average locality-based pay raise of 0.5%; meaning some 2.1 million federal employees will receive raises of 4.6%, on average. The pay raises will take effect on January 1, 2023.

“Title 5 [of the] United States Code, authorizes me to implement alternative plans for pay adjustments for civilian Federal employees covered by the General Schedule and certain other pay systems if, because of ‘national emergency or serious economic conditions affecting the general welfare,’ I view the increases that would otherwise take effect as inappropriate,” Biden wrote in the letter. “Accordingly, I have determined that it is appropriate to exercise my authority to set alternative pay adjustments for 2023. Specifically, I have determined that for 2023, the across-the-board base pay increase will be 4.1 percent and locality pay increases will average 0.5 percent, resulting in an overall average increase of 4.6 percent for civilian Federal employees, consistent with the assumption in my 2023 Budget.”

Under federal law, if the president wishes to institute a pay raise above and beyond the normal raise, he must submit his plan to Congress by September 1 of the preceding year, including the reasons for instituting the raise. In considering any such raises, the president needs to consider “pertinent economic measures,” including the national GDP, the unemployment rate, the budget deficit, the Consumer Price Index, and the Producer Price Index.

Biden cited a continuing recruitment crisis as the reason for the raise. “Federal agencies have witnessed growing recruitment and retention challenges with Federal positions experiencing eroded compensation,” Biden wrote. Joe Biden, Don’t Repeat Your Afghanistan Blunders in Iraq

No one who’s been following the news in Iraq since last year’s inconclusive parliamentary elections should be surprised to see violence currently erupting in Baghdad.

For months, various political factions have jostled unsuccessfully for a governing majority. Muqtada al Sadr, the volatile cleric who fueled much of the bloodshed in Iraq after the U.S. invasion, controls the most seats but not enough to form a governing coalition. This past weekend, he decided to turn up the heat.

On Saturday, al Sadr set a 72-hour time limit to resolve the crisis and insisted that all political actors leave the public stage to give way to a new generation. If this failed, he suggested violence would be the last recourse — including the forcible closure of Iraq’s oil fields. On Monday, he made good on the threat as the Green Zone erupted in fighting, and some of Sadr’s followers occupied oil facilities. While Sadr claims he is trying to restore order, he has clearly demonstrated the capability to create violent chaos in Baghdad, and what comes next is anyone’s guess.

While Americans have excellent reason to be wary of the endless political dysfunction and endemic corruption in Iraq, this threat brings into sharp relief the twin realities that demand attention: the potential for a dramatically heightened global energy crisis and the violent malign influence of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Some three and a quarter million barrels of oil a day flow out of Iraq. Major political disruptions will carry over and cause significant supply disruptions just as the world continues to struggle with international restrictions on Russian oil. Biden Ramps Up Rhetoric Against ‘MAGA Republicans’ In Speech On Crime

President Joe Biden ramped up his rhetoric against “MAGA Republicans” during a Tuesday afternoon speech in Pennsylvania.

Biden traveled to Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, to speak about how his “Safe America Plan” will help reduce “gun crime and save lives,” according to a schedule provided by the White House. A key portion of the president’s speech was aimed at the GOP, with Biden slamming the defense of January 6 rioters and calls by some within the party to defund the FBI following the raid on Mar-a-Lago.

“You hear some of my friends in the other team talking about political violence and how it’s necessary. Think about this now. Did any of you think … you’d ever be in an election where we talk about, it’s appropriate to use force political violence in America. It’s never appropriate, never. Period. Never, never, never,” Biden said.

“To this day, the MAGA Republicans in Congress defend the mob that stormed the Capitol on January 6. Defend them. You all saw it,” the president added.

Biden continued on to directly address his “MAGA Republicans friends in Congress,” arguing that they can’t tell him they “support law enforcement if you won’t condemn what happened” on January 6. (Read more from “Biden Ramps up Rhetoric Against ‘MAGA Republicans’ in Speech on Crime” HERE)
