Impeachment Witness Warned About Biden-Ukraine Problem in 2015 – Biden’s Office Dismissed Claim

In a newly reported development that further complicates the Democrats’ Ukraine corruption investigation, a State Department witness told congressional investigators this week that in early 2015 he warned about the problematic optics of the vice president’s son, Hunter Biden, serving on the board of a Ukrainian energy company while his father was tasked with overseeing Ukraine-U.S. relations. The career State Department official told investigators his warning was rebuffed by Biden’s office. Months later, Biden would pressure the Ukraine — by withholding a billion dollars in aid — to fire the prosecutor who had looked into the company employing Hunter.

Citing sources who spoke on the condition of anonymity, The Washington Post reported Friday that George Kent, a deputy assistant secretary of state and career State Department official, “testified Tuesday that he worried that Hunter Biden’s position at the firm Burisma Holdings would complicate efforts by U.S. diplomats to convey to Ukrainian officials the importance of avoiding conflicts of interest.”

The sources told the Post that Kent “had concerns that Ukrainian officials would view Hunter Biden as a conduit for currying influence with his father, said the people.”

Kent reportedly told congressional investigators that Biden’s office dismissed his warning about the potentially problematic situation by saying the vice president did not have the “bandwidth” to address the Hunter-Burisma question because he was dealing with his other son, Beau, battling cancer.

“Kent, who also testified about how Trump’s associates raised unfounded allegations about the former ambassador to Ukraine, is the first known example of a career diplomat who raised concerns internally in the Obama administration about Hunter Biden’s board position,” the Post reports, noting that the paper “has previously reported that there had been discussions among Biden’s advisers about whether his son’s Ukraine work would be perceived as a conflict of interest, and that one former adviser had been concerned enough to mention it to Biden, though the conversation was brief.” (Read more from “Impeachment Witness Warned About Biden-Ukraine Problem in 2015 – Biden’s Office Dismissed Claim” HERE)

The Nuclear Option: Democrats Sacrificing Biden to Protect Obama

By Breitbart. . .This whole impeachment-in-search-of-a-high-crime charade going on in the House of Representatives today has nothing to do with actually removing President Trump from office.

If that is all Democrats wanted to do, then they would just field a candidate against him whom voters find slightly less detestable than they found Hillary Clinton. That way, when they boot President Trump from office, they will have voters on their side. And Vice President Mike Pence won’t be left sitting in the Oval Office. . .

So, what is this all about? It is a cover-up, plain and simple.

Certainly not former Vice President Joseph R. Biden. If anything, Mr. Biden has been set ablaze atop the altar as a sacrifice in this massive international cover-up by Democrats. . .

Currently, there are a handful of very, very serious probes by nonpartisan prosecutors bound by rules of fairness and due process looking into the origins of the Obama administration’s spying operation on the campaign of a political opponent at the height of the 2016 election season. Charlie Kirk: Nothing ‘Unsubstantiated’ About the Facts Fueling Hunter Biden Intrigue

By Breitbart. . .I apologize for having just spilled a full cup of sarcasm on your lap. Anyone reading this column already knows that Hunter Biden has been given an almost completely free pass by the MSM with regard to his involvement not just in Chinese business while his father was Vice President, but also in Ukraine.

I have previously written about Hunter’s business dealing and have addressed them extensively on my podcast. In short, While Joe was our nation’s second-in-command, Hunter accompanied him on Air Force Two on state-sanctioned trips to China where, shortly thereafter, his team was awarded the investment banking deal mentioned above. Meanwhile, in Ukraine, he was named to the Board of Directors for Burisma Holdings and paid $50,000 per month, despite having no industry knowledge. When Burisma was being investigated by the Ukraine government, Papa Joe threatened to cut off U.S. aid unless the prosecutor was fired.

Nearly every legacy news outlet places the obligatory “unsubstantiated” in front of a description of events. There’s nothing unsubstantiated about any of it. The above are facts from which reasonable people would draw an inference of corruption and influence peddling. My observation is that few to none of those reasonable people can be found in the MSM.

Professor Jonathan Turley, a man who prides himself in his consistent analysis and application of law regardless of circumstance, has written a must-read piece in TheHIll.com regarding the media’s handling of the Hunter Biden affair, calling him “He who must not be named.” Turley points to examples of interviewers at CNN, NBC, and MSNBC all quickly shutting down guests who dare to mention Hunter and Joe’s activities in the context of discussing the current fake impeachment story involving President Trump. Turley is far from a Trump surrogate, and I urge you to read his commentary. The smattering of headlines after Hunter finally decided to emerge out of hiding on ABC’s Good Morning America only underscores this point. Dem Debate: Biden Confronted About Ukraine Scandal; Sanders Promises Millions of New Jobs; Yang to Legalize Heroin, Give Everyone $1,000 a Month For No Reason (VIDEO)

By Townhall. CNN’s Anderson Cooper got right to the point when he had the chance to question former Vice President Joe Biden at Tuesday’s Democratic presidential debate on Ukraine.

“If it’s not okay for a president’s family to be involved in foreign businesses, why was it okay for your son when you were vice president?” Cooper asked Biden.

“Look, my son did nothing wrong,” Biden said. “I did nothing wrong. I carried out the policy of the United States government in rooting out corruption in Ukraine. That’s what we should be focusing on.” . . .

The former VP strayed a bit, before somehow finding a way to invoke the first president of the United States. George Washington, Biden said, worried about foreign interference in our elections. . .

“The president and his thugs have proven they are flat lying,” Biden said, adding we have to focus on “Trump’s corruption.” (Read more from “Dem Debate: Biden Confronted About Ukraine Scandal” HERE)

Sanders promises new jobs for ‘tens of millions of Americans’ during Democratic debate

By Fox News. Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., stood by his claim that he would provide jobs for every single American, purportedly ending unemployment in the United States.

His comments came during the fourth Democratic debate on Tuesday when CNN anchor Erin Burnett asked him about his jobs guarantee.

“You say your federal jobs guarantee is part of the answer to the threat of automation, that tens of millions of Americans could end up losing their jobs. Are you promising that you will have a job for every single one of those Americans?” she asked.

“Damn right we will,” Sanders quickly responded. Sanders initially made a jobs guarantee when he released his version of the “Green New Deal” in August. (Read more from “Sanders Promises New Jobs for ‘Tens of Millions of Americans’ During Democratic Debate” HERE)

Andrew Yang Forces Democratic Debate on Universal Basic Income, His Plan to Send Every Adult a $1k Check

By Washington Examiner. Andrew Yang forced a discussion at Tuesday night’s Democratic presidential debate on his proposal for a Universal Basic Income, a plan to send every adult a government check.

Yang, the former entrepreneur running on the platform of implementing a UBI, as it’s known, kicked off a debate about the idea among the candidates when he attacked rival candidate Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders’ plan for a federal jobs program. Yang argued it was impractical and not what most voters truly wanted.

“I am for the spirit of a federal jobs guarantee, but you have to look at how it would actually materialize in practice. What are the jobs? Who manages you? What if you don’t like your job?” the former tech executive said, asserting that most Americans don’t want to work for the federal government. “Saying that that is the vision of the economy the 21st-century economy to me is not a vision that most Americans would embrace.”

He added that a federal jobs guarantee “does not take into account the work of people like my wife who is at home with our two boys, one of whom is autistic.”

Yang’s proposal would give $1,000 cash monthly without any conditions, which he dubs a “freedom dividend.” He argues that the payment would be productive than federally supported jobs. “We know this in Ohio: If you rely up on the federal government to target its resources, you end up with failed retraining programs and jobs that no one wants,” he said. WATCH: Hunter Biden Admits He ‘Probably’ Wouldn’t Have Been on Burisma’s Board If Not for His Father

In a recent interview, Hunter Biden said that he probably wouldn’t have been asked to be on the board of a Ukrainian energy company if not for his vice presidential father.

During the exclusive interview with ABC News, aired on Tuesday morning, Biden was asked about his involvement with the Ukrainian natural gas company Burisma, which is the driving factor behind House Democrats’ ongoing efforts to impeach President Trump.

“If your last name wasn’t Biden,” ABC anchor Amy Robach asked, “do you think you would’ve been asked to be on the board of Burisma?”

“I don’t know. I don’t know. Probably not,” Biden responded. “I don’t think that there’s a lot of things that would have happened in my life if my last name wasn’t Biden.”

The younger Biden has faced criticism that he was asked to be on the board despite a notable lack of experience in the energy industry. Biden responded to those claims elsewhere in the interview, where he pointed to his experience as a board member at Amtrak, the quasi-public American train company, among other ventures.

“I was vice chairman of the board of Amtrak for five years,” Biden said when Robach asked about his qualifications. “I was the chairman of the board of the U.N. World Food Program. I was a lawyer for Boies Schiller Flexner, one of the most prestigious law firms in the world.”

The former vice president’s son also took issue with the amount of public scrutiny aimed at his business endeavors when Robach brought up the $50,000 he made per month while working for Burisma.

“Look, I’m a private citizen; one thing that I don’t have to do is sit here and open my kimono as it relates to how much money I make or make or did or didn’t,” Biden said. “But it’s all been reported.”

Robach also asked the younger Biden whether or not he ever thought that taking the position at Burisma was a bad idea, given his father’s position.

“I’m a human, and you know what? Did I make a mistake? Well, maybe in the grand scheme of things, yeah,” he said. “But did I make a mistake based upon some ethical lapse? Absolutely not.” (For more from the author of “Hunter Biden Admits He ‘Probably’ Wouldn’t Have Been on Burisma’s Board If Not for His Father” please click HERE)

FLASHBACK: Biden Previously Defended Another Instance Where His Son Benefited from His Political Career

For the last few weeks we have continually heard about Hunter Biden profiting off of his father, former Vice President Joe Biden’s, political connections. Hunter was being paid $50,000 a month from a Ukrainian gas company, despite having no natural energy experience, all while his dad was handling international relations with Ukraine on behalf of the Obama administration. . .

Back in 2008, Tom Brokaw grilled Joe Biden about Hunter being hired by MBNA, a credit card company based in Delaware, right out of law school. Biden had received campaign contributions from the company before and was even working on a bill MBNA backed.

“That’s a reference to your son being hired right out of law school by a big company here in Delaware that is in the credit card business, MBNA. He got about $100,000 a year, as I recall. You received $214,000 in campaign contributions from the company and from its employees,” Brokaw said. “At the same time, you were fighting for a bankruptcy bill that MBNA really wanted to get passed through the Senate, making it much tougher for everyone to file bankruptcy.”

“Senator Obama was opposed to the bill. Among other things you couldn’t, in fact, claim that you had a problem because of big medical bills. You voted against an amendment that would call for a warning on predatory lending. You also called for — you opposed efforts to strengthen the protection of people in bankruptcy,” Brokaw explained. “This has been an issue that you’ve heard about before. Your son was working for the company at the same time.” . . .

“Absolutely not. My son graduated from Yale Law School. The starting salary in Wall Street is $140,000 a year if you want to lawyer. Options he had,” Biden replied. “He came home to work for a bank. Surprise, surprise, number one.”

Joe AND Hunter Biden Were Both Paid by Burisma (VIDEO)

So, the plot thickens with Joe Biden and his Ukraine ties. House Democrats have pulled the trigger on their grand plan to impeach President Trump for simply winning the 2016 election. . .

As the son of then-Vice President Joe Biden, it seems pretty clear that he was there selling access. That’s the allegation. It’s a question that hasn’t gone away, and one that has irritated Joe Biden to no end. And now we’re hearing that Joe Biden was also paid $900,000 which was part of his lobbying fee on behalf of Burisma. The former vice president has repeatedly said that he and his son never discussed overseas business, despite being pictured in a photograph golfing with two Ukrainian energy executives. They didn’t talk business. Who are you kidding? Our friends at RedState wrote about this earlier today. Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani, Trump’s attorney, also repeated the claim on Fox News’ Sean Hannity Wednesday night (via NY Post):

Rudy Giuliani, the personal lawyer for President Trump, alleged that a Ukrainian natural gas company that employed Joe Biden’s son Hunter also paid the former vice president $900,000 in lobbying fees.

Giuliani, appearing Wednesday night on Fox News’ “The Sean Hannity Show,” cited as evidence documents released by Andriy Derkach, a member of Ukraine’s parliament.

WATCH: Biden Calls for Impeachment – Here’s How President Trump Responded

The man at the center of the famous phone call that sparked the Democrats’ impeachment inquiry is now officially calling for the impeachment of his potential 2020 presidential opponent.

After several of his fellow Democratic presidential hopefuls announced their full support of impeaching President Trump for asking his Ukrainian counterpart to “look into” alleged corruption involving Biden and his son, the former vice president has made it official: He now believes Congress should impeach Trump. . .

In response, Trump fired off a tweet pointing to the issue at the heart of his much-analyzed phone call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and suggesting that Biden was only getting behind the impeachment push because he is being rapidly overtaken in the polls by Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren.

“So pathetic to see Sleepy Joe Biden, who with his son, Hunter, and to the detriment of the American Taxpayer, has ripped off at least two countries for millions of dollars, calling for my impeachment – and I did nothing wrong,” he wrote. “Joe’s Failing Campaign gave him no other choice!”

Trump followed that tweet up with a video highlighting the corruption claims against Biden and calling for Americans to push back against the Democrats’ efforts to “overturn the election.”

Hunter Biden Invested in a Chinese Tech Company That Was Recently Blacklisted for Human Rights Concerns

A Chinese tech company recently blacklisted by the United States government over human rights concerns has business ties to Hunter Biden, son of Democratic presidential candidate and former Vice President Joe Biden.

On Monday, the U.S. Department of Commerce announced that 28 Chinese entities would be added to the list of firms that U.S. companies are barred from doing business with, as they “have been implicated in human rights violations and abuses in China’s campaign targeting Uighurs and other predominantly Muslim ethnic minorities.”

“The U.S. Government and Department of Commerce cannot and will not tolerate the brutal suppression of ethnic minorities within China,” said Secretary of Commerce Wilbur Ross.

One of the added entities is Megvii Technology, a company in which Hunter Biden owns a stake through his investment fund, Bohai Harvest RST (BHR). According to Fox Business, Biden has a 10 percent stake in the investment company.

A story in the Intercept from earlier this year explains the Biden-Mevii relationship in greater detail. In 2017, the report explains, BHR invested in one of Megvii’s divisions, Face++, which makes facial recognition software.

Human Rights Watch initially issued a report in May that said Face++ code was found in an app used by Chinese police to track people in the Xinjiang Uighur Autonomous Region. The organization later said that the code was “inoperable.” In April, the New York Times listed Megvii as one of multiple tech companies behind software used in China’s technological crackdown on Uighurs, but the company at the time said that it was focused on “commercial not political solutions.”

Megvii also says that the U.S. government’s blacklist decision was a wrong.

“Megvii strongly objects to the company’s designation on the U.S. Commerce Department’s Entity List, for which there are no grounds,” reads a company statement. “We are committed to making sure our technology has a positive impact on society and we are in compliance with all laws and regulations in jurisdictions where we operate.”

Megvii is a private company that is currently trying to go public, though Goldman Sachs said it is re-evaluating its involvement in the initial public offering (IPO) in light of the blacklisting. A September story at Wired points out that the IPO filing admits that police make use of its technology, but not in the context of Uighur surveillance. Instead, “It presents case studies that make its surveillance offerings sound more cuddly.”

Hunter Biden’s role at BHR and the fact that the announcement of the fund coincided with his 2013 trip to China aboard Air Force Two as part of a U.S. delegation are at the heart of President Donald Trump’s efforts to have both Bidens’ dealings in the country looked at by the Chinese government.

Trump suggested last week that “China should start an investigation in to the Bidens, because what happened in China was just about as bad as what happened with Ukraine.” A Chinese official responded this week that the country has “no intention of intervening in the domestic affairs of the United States.” (For more from the author of “Hunter Biden Invested in a Chinese Tech Company That Was Recently Blacklisted for Human Rights Concerns” please click HERE)

Report: Biden Advisers Knew His 2018 Ukraine Comments Would Cause Problems

Advisers to former Vice President Joe Biden reportedly said they knew his 2018 comments on Ukraine would be problematic.

The 2020 Democratic presidential candidate spoke on corruption at a 2018 Council on Foreign Relations event in Washington, D.C., where he recounted a trip he made to Kyiv, Ukraine, in 2015, BuzzFeed reported.

Biden described telling former Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko that Ukraine’s prosecutor general must be fired or the U.S. would withhold $1 billion in loan guarantees — a story which three former Biden officials knew would be problematic, they told BuzzFeed on condition of anonymity. . .

One of the former officials added that when Poroshenko fired former Prosecutor General Viktor Shokin in 2016, “it had nothing to do with Burisma,” the company on whose board Hunter Biden sat. The former vice president’s son joined the board of Burisma Holdings in 2014.

“I obviously believed that there was nothing improper, but, especially because there is so much scrutiny you never want there to be anything that appears in any way inappropriate,” one former official told BuzzFeed. “At no point did anyone think or believe that Shokin was investigating Burisma, so it wasn’t that. It was more, the appearance of him getting that job not because of his own achievements but because of his connection.” (Read more from “Report: Biden Advisers Knew His 2018 Ukraine Comments Would Cause Problems” HERE)
