Liz Cheney: Trump, Pompeo ‘Surrender’ to the Taliban Led Directly to Afghanistan Chaos

Representative Liz Cheney (R-WY) said Sunday on NBC’s “Meet the Press” that former President Donald Trump and former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo’s “surrender agreement with the Taliban” led directly to the unfolding situation of the Taliban taking over Afghanistan as the U.S. military withdraws.

Cheney said, “We know the Taliban has never renounced al Qaeda. This is one of the things that was such an indefensible step by the Trump administration. When President Trump and Secretary of State Pompeo designed to sign a surrender agreement with the Taliban.” (Read more from “Liz Cheney: Trump, Pompeo ‘Surrender’ to the Taliban Led Directly to Afghanistan Chaos” HERE)

Liz Cheney Officially Replaced

House Republicans approved Rep. Elise Stefanik to their No. 3 leadership position Friday — officially voting her into the post after Rep. Liz Cheney was forced out this week.

The 134-46 tally for Stefanik (R-NY) was nearly guaranteed before the vote took place, given that she went into the meeting with former President Donald Trump’s endorsement and without a serious challenger.

Rep. Chip Roy (R-Texas) had launched a bid, but it failed to gain traction. Rep. Mike Johnson (R-La.), who serves as vice chair of the House GOP Conference, was also reportedly interested in the role, but did not end up pursuing a challenge.

Stefanik was the victor with 134 votes to Roy’s 46. Three other votes were cast for three different GOP lawmakers, and nine members voted “present.” (Read more from “Liz Cheney Officially Replaced” HERE)

Liz Cheney Removed From Position As House GOP Conference Chair

House Republicans ousted Rep. Liz Cheney from her leadership position Wednesday, a rare move that highlights the power that former President Donald Trump still holds in the party.

Cheney — daughter of former Vice President Dick Cheney and one of Trump’s most vocal critics — served as the House Republican Conference chairwoman, a position that entails leading the chamber’s messaging efforts.

Speaking moments after the vote to remove her from the No. 3 spot, Cheney (R-Wyo.) said she thinks it shows the GOP’s current state.

“I think that it is an indication of where the Republican Party is, and I think that the party is in a place that we’ve got to bring it back from, and we’ve got to get back to a position where we are a party that can fight for conservative principles, that can fight for substance. We cannot be dragged backward by the very dangerous lies of a former president,” the Wyoming Republican said. (Read more from “Liz Cheney Removed From Position As House GOP Conference Chair” HERE)

House Minority Leader Announces Vote To Recall Liz Cheney From Leadership

House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy announced Monday that Republican members should prepare for a recall vote Wednesday to oust Republican Conference Chair Liz Cheney of Wyoming from leadership.

“Having heard from so many of you in recent days, it’s clear that we need to make a change,” McCarthy wrote in a letter to members. “As such, you should anticipate a vote on recalling the Conference Chair this Wednesday.”

Momentum grew to remove the Wyoming lawmaker from her number three role in House leadership after she survived her first referendum three months ago, then escalated her public feud with former President Donald Trump and continued to undermine the conference.

Since maintaining her chairmanship in February — provoked in large part by her futile crusade to recruit GOP members in support of Trump’s impeachment, in which nine took part — Cheney has smeared her own party as gripped with white supremacy and sought to engineer a GOP civil war non-existent outside Washington. The Collapsing Obama Doctrine

Photo Credit: ReutersAs the terrorists of the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) threaten Baghdad, thousands of slaughtered Iraqis in their wake, it is worth recalling a few of President Obama’s past statements about ISIS and al Qaeda. “If a J.V. team puts on Lakers’ uniforms that doesn’t make them Kobe Bryant” (January 2014). “[C]ore al Qaeda is on its heels, has been decimated” (August 2013). “So, let there be no doubt: The tide of war is receding” (September 2011).

Rarely has a U.S. president been so wrong about so much at the expense of so many. Too many times to count, Mr. Obama has told us he is “ending” the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan—as though wishing made it so. His rhetoric has now come crashing into reality. Watching the black-clad ISIS jihadists take territory once secured by American blood is final proof, if any were needed, that America’s enemies are not “decimated.” They are emboldened and on the march.

The fall of the Iraqi cities of Fallujah, Tikrit, Mosul and Tel Afar, and the establishment of terrorist safe havens across a large swath of the Arab world, present a strategic threat to the security of the United States. Mr. Obama’s actions—before and after ISIS’s recent advances in Iraq—have the effect of increasing that threat.

On a trip to the Middle East this spring, we heard a constant refrain in capitals from the Persian Gulf to Israel, “Can you please explain what your president is doing?” “Why is he walking away?” “Why is he so blithely sacrificing the hard fought gains you secured in Iraq?” “Why is he abandoning your friends?” “Why is he doing deals with your enemies?”

In one Arab capital, a senior official pulled out a map of Syria and Iraq. Drawing an arc with his finger from Raqqa province in northern Syria to Anbar province in western Iraq, he said, “They will control this territory. Al Qaeda is building safe havens and training camps here. Don’t the Americans care?”

Liz Cheney Drops US Senate Bid

Liz Cheney, daughter of former vice president Dick Cheney, has quit a US Senate race, citing family health issues.

Cheney, 47, had been staging a primary campaign to represent the Republican Party in November Senate elections in the western state of Wyoming, challenging long-time Republican Senator Mike Enzi.

‘Serious health issues have recently arisen in our family, and under the circumstances, I have decided to discontinue my campaign,’ she said in a statement on Monday, without elaborating on the health concerns.

‘My children and their futures were the motivation for our campaign and their health and well being will always be my overriding priority.’

The campaign had prompted a public spat within the Cheney family after Liz Cheney spoke out against gay marriage, drawing outrage from her lesbian sister Mary and her wife.

Liz Cheney Sees Herself in Winston Churchill

Liz Cheney compared herself to “Winston Churchill standing up to [Adolf] Hitler” on Tuesday night when declaring her opposition to American airstrikes in Syria — the latest in a series of Liz-Cheney-thinking-rather-highly-of-Liz-Cheney moments. She was speaking to about 150 Tea Party members when she rejected President Obama’s call to strike Syria, calling his national security policy “amateurish.” It seems Obama is Hitler in this scenario. We might note that more often, Obama has been compared to another British politician, Neville Chamberlain, who appeased Hitler.

However, you might not want to trust these reports, as they come from a newspaper that Cheney thinks deserves to die. She railed against the Jackson Hole News & Guide during her talk: “We have media outlets in the valley that are not fair and balanced.” Per a reporter at the Guide who was in the audience:

She blamed the newspaper’s editor. “His name is Angus,” Cheney said. Editor Angus Thuermer Jr. wrote an article last week about Cheney posting a $220 bond for the “high misdemeanor” of swearing a false oath to obtain a Wyoming resident fishing license.

In addition to her foreign policy instincts, Cheney puts a lot of faith in her news instincts. She suggested that voters would be better off to turn to her own campaign as a trusted source in news, and not the local paper. Cheney urged members of the crowd to tell 10 friends about her campaign rather than read the newspaper. “Newspapers are dying, and that’s not a bad thing,” she said. “We’re not depending on the Jackson Hole News & Guide to get the news out. We’re depending on ourselves. We’re going to go over their heads.”

It seems Cheney was aware that a Guide reporter was in the audience, but she wasn’t bothered.

Liz Cheney Blasted by Older Sister Over Anti-Gay Marriage Stance

Mary Cheney, the openly gay daughter of one of ex-Vice President Dick Cheney’s two daughters, has taken to Facebook to blast her older sibling, Elizabeth.

Liz Cheney, a Wyoming Senate candidate, aired her views on gay marriage on Friday by saying it should be something for voters to decide on a state-by-state basis, and not a matter for ‘judges’ or ‘legislators.’

Mary Cheney, openly lesbian and married to Heather Poe since 2012, responded by posting on her personal Facebook page: ‘For the record, I love my sister, but she is dead wrong on the issue of marriage.’

She continued: “Freedom means freedom for everyone. That means that all families — regardless of how they look or how they are made — all families are entitled to the same rights, privileges and protections as every other.”

‘For the record, I love my sister, but she is dead wrong on the issue of marriage.’

Challengers Beware: NRSC Exists to Reelect Incumbents

Photo Credit: APWhen Liz Cheney announced this week that she would challenge Wyoming Sen. Mike Enzi in a Republican primary next year, the national party coalesced swiftly and unequivocally behind Enzi.

“The primary responsibility of the Senate campaign committee is to make certain that Republican incumbents are re-elected,” Sen. Jerry Moran, R-Kan., head of the National Republican Senatorial Committee, said after Cheney’s announcement. “We’ll do everything we can to make certain that Mike Enzi has the help and support he needs from us.”

On the House side, however, there is no such institutional obligation to protect incumbents financially.

For House Agriculture Committee Chairman Frank Lucas, R-Okla., that hands-off policy could have deeply personal repercussions: Lucas is one of 10 House Republicans being targeted by the powerful conservative group Club For Growth, which hopes to replace moderate GOP members of Congress with more conservative candidates.

The NRCC won’t spend money to counter the influence of the Club and other outside groups in safe GOP districts — a policy that makes sense, Lucas said, because Republicans have limited money for the election cycle. Besides, he said, the party should not need to force its favored candidates on voters.

Videos: Benghazi Cover-up Now Alleged by Senator Lindsey Graham; Liz Cheney Calls it “the Worst in History”

Senator Lindsey Graham alleges on “Face the Nation” yesterday that the Obama Administration knew within twenty-four hours that the Benghazi attack was terrorism.

He went on to say that the Administration deliberately misled the United States people or is “incredibly incompetent.”

Graham also talks about the myriad of leaks from the Administration on other foreign policy issues, solely to make Obama look good. He contends this is evidence of Obama’s politicization of foreign policy. He believes the handling of Benghazi has been not different.

Here are Liz Cheney’s comments where she called it the worst cover-up in the “history of the Republic”:
