Nancy Pelosi: I’d Rather Pass Amnesty Than Be Speaker (+video)

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) said she would rather pass amnesty legislation than get her gavel back.

“It’s the biggest thing that we can do, and that’s why I’ve said to the speaker, to the press, to these groups, I would rather pass [a] comprehensive immigration reform bill than win the elections in November,” Pelosi told Politico. “There’s nothing we could accomplish in winning that would be as big as passing immigration reform.”

Politico noted that Pelosi has been traveling the country promoting immigration reform legislation and said she hoped a bill could pass by June or July…

Pelosi: We’re Keeping the Employer Mandate No Matter What Gibbs’ Clients Want (+video)

Last week, former Obama press secretary Robert Gibbs suggested that the employer mandate in ObamaCare would not survive, and he certainly has reason to think so. The White House keeps unilaterally changing the enforcement date and the parameters of the mandate, clearly hoping to escape political accountability for it when it finally takes effect. Yesterday, Candy Crowley asked Nancy Pelosi if Gibbs was right, but the House Minority Leader dismissed Gibbs’ prediction as just Gibbs speaking on behalf of his corporate clients:

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) suggested Sunday that former top Obama aide Robert Gibbs’s comment that the employer mandate portion of the Affordable Care Act won’t survive might be related to Gibbs’s business interests.

“I don’t know who his clients are or what his perspective is,” Pelosi told CNN’s “State of the Union.” “But we are celebrating the fact that we have over seven million who have signed up.” …

Asked again about Gibbs on Sunday, Pelosi expressed exasperation that his comments would be given such prominence. “I don’t know why we’re focusing on that,” she told CNN. “One person says one thing. Seven million people signed up.”

5 Reasons Democrats Are Full Of It When They Say The Paycheck Fairness Act Will Help Women

If you judged the Paycheck Fairness Act, a bill that is being voted on in the Senate on Tuesday, based upon its name alone, you would assume that it is a good thing. And that’s precisely why the bill’s Democrat creators named it as such – so that they can present it as a law that will help women in the workplace.

The problem is that it doesn’t actually help women at all. In many cases, it actually hurts women by placing costly regulations on businesses that may lower the number of workers they can afford to employ:

#1 – It attempts to outlaw something that is already illegal.“Gender-based wage discrimination has been illegal since the Equal Pay Act of 1963 and Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. If a woman is truly the victim of wage discrimination, she already has the ability to sue.”

#2 – It ignores the complex reasons that women earn less than men. “It would certainly be wrong to suggest that workplace discrimination is entirely extinct, but the PFA presumes the opposite – that men’s earnings outperform women’s solely because of discrimination and that more lawsuits are the fix. Reality is more complex. The attitude behind the Paycheck Fairness Act completely ignores that women and men may have different preferences and priorities when it comes to pay and jobs.”

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., received Planned Parenthood’s Margaret Sanger award at the organization’s annual gala, and managed a few choice words for pro-lifers in her acceptance speech.

“When you see how closed their minds are, or oblivious, or whatever it is—dumb—then you know what the fight is about,” Pelosi said Thursday, according to Christian News. “Whatever happens with the court …we must remember these battles will not be the end of the fight.”

Pelosi took to Twitter to brag about the award:

Pelosi is No Longer Even Trying to Appear Sane… (+video)

Cue up the laugh track. House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) delivered some real gut-busters Thursday as she talked to reporters about President Barack Obama’s record and explained the finer points of his healthcare overhaul.

Pelosi has claimed that midterm voters will support Democratic candidates because November leaves time enough for them to reap the benefits of Obamacare and look past damning headlines from earlier in the year.

She doubled-down during her press conference, telling reporters that it simply isn’t true that Democrats are running away from Obamacare.

“This isn’t about politics. This is about the health of America,” she said. “We don’t weigh its value as to what it means politically. We weigh its value as to what it means to the health, well-being, economic and health security of America’s families. Just because people say, I don’t want to repeal it, but I do want to fix it, doesn’t mean they’re walking away from it.”

She also went off on a reporter who called the healthcare law Obamacare, contending that it was a derogatory moniker designed to make Americans forget that the coverage is affordable.

House Dems Plan To Use Rare Tactic to Try to Force Vote on Immigration, Minimum Wage

House Democrats are vowing to try a rarely used tactic to force votes in the GOP-led chamber on the minimum wage and immigration reform, a strategy that will likely fail but might hurt Republicans with voters in this year’s elections.

The tactic is known as a “discharge petition.” It would require the minority party, in this case Democrats, to persuade roughly two dozen Republicans to defy their leadership and join Democrats in forcing a vote on setting the federal minimum wage at $10.10 an hour.

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., said fellow chamber Democrats will push the issue when Congress returns from its break Feb. 24.

The attempt to force a vote on a comprehensive overhaul of immigration laws could occur in a few months.

Democrats think that a majority of Americans support both issues and that attempting to use the discharge petition will at least portray House Republicans as the obstacle to their success.

Nancy Pelosi: ‘Why Would Anybody Get Married?’

Photo Credit: LifeNews House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., is a hardcore supporter of gay marriage. She gave a big ol’ “who cares?” when Rep. Michele Bachmann, R-Minn., railed against last summer’s Supreme Court same-sex marriage victory…

“But I would say, you know, if you’re getting married — why are you getting married?” Pelosi asked. “Why would you get married? Why would anybody get married? In that the person that they love so much, that was irresistible, that they had to get married?”

Vatican Chief Justice: Denying Communion to Nancy Pelosi “Makes Perfect Sense”

Catholics across the United States have for years wondered if and when pro-abortion “Catholics” like Nancy Pelosi or John Kerry would be told not to present themselves for Communion because they are out of step with Catholic Church teachings on the sanctity of human life.

Cardinal Raymond Burke, the former archbishop of St. Louis and now the chief justice at the Vatican’s highest court saying prohibiting Pelosi and Kerry from receiving Communion”makes perfect sense,” according to a new interview Burke gave to EWTN.

As CNS News reports on the interview:

In an interview with EWTN’s Raymond Arroyo on Dec. 13, Cardinal Burke explained that it is necessary to protect the Sacrament, the Communion wafer offered at Masses, from “being profaned, being violated by someone receiving unworthily,” someone “who knows that he or she is unworthy and yet presumes to come forward and to take the Holy Eucharist.”

NBC’s David Gregory Does Not Allow Pelosi to Pivot Away from Her ObamaCare Promise (+video)

In case you missed Meet the Press Sunday, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) was confronted by host David Gregory about a promise she made in 2009, similar to the guarantee made by President Barack Obama, that Americans could keep the plans they have under Obamacare.

Then-Speaker of the House, Pelosi said “if you like [the health plan] you have, and you want to keep, you have the choice to do that.” Gregory noted that President Obama has held himself “accountable” for making such a claim and asked Pelosi, who had a blank look on her face after seeing the clip, if she was accountable for a promise that has been proven false as millions of Americans have lost their health plans.

She had no real defense and pivoted to talking points, hoping that Gregory would allow her to deflect from the issue. He didn’t, and hilarity ensued.

“Well, it’s not that it’s not correct, it’s that if you want to keep it and it’s important for the insurance company to say to people, this is what your plan does, it’s doesn’t prevent you from being discriminated against on the basis of preexisting conditions, lifetime limits, annual limits,” Pelosi said before Gregory cut her off.

Nancy Pelosi: ‘I’m Here On a Mission’

Photo Credit: ReutersNancy Pelosi isn’t going anywhere.

While many thought the California Democrat would step down as House minority leader after this Congress, Pelosi confidants now believe she will remain atop House leadership through 2016 and maybe even longer.

Pelosi herself won’t tip her hand about her plans. But she doesn’t appear to be contemplating retirement.

“I’m not here on a shift. I’m here on a mission — and when my work is done, that’s when I will leave,” Pelosi said in a recent interview with POLITICO.

Pelosi declared the main reason she chose to stay put the past two years is to see Obamacare, which she had a strong hand in crafting and pushing through Congress, implemented successfully. Pelosi, like other Democrats, has publicly complained about the disastrous online rollout of the program, but she remains convinced it will turn out well in the long run.
