Mother Dies After Jumping on Car Being Stolen With Her 6-Year-Old Son Inside, Police Say

. . .The tragic incident unfolded at the White Oak Park Condominiums in Columbus on Thursday at about 1:30 a.m. when 29-year-old Alexa Stakely went to pick her son up from a babysitter.

Stakely brought out the sleeping boy to the Honda-CRV and then returned to the home to pick up his belongings, but she left the car running.

That’s when someone tried to steal the car.

The woman yelled at them to stop and said her child was in the car, but they kept driving, so she jumped on the hood to try to stop them.

Battleground State Removes Non-Citizens Improperly Registered After Investigation

Ohio Secretary of State Frank LaRose ordered the state’s voter rolls to be purged of “non-citizens” Tuesday after a review found more than 100 Ohio residents who were registered to vote despite lacking U.S. citizenship.

An investigation by Ohio’s Public Integrity Division analyzed data from the state’s Bureau of Motor Vehicles and found 137 people who appeared on voter rolls despite twice confirming they were not U.S. citizens. Ohio law requires that in order for a person to be removed from voter rolls, they must have confirmed their lack of citizenship to the BMV on two separate occasions, and also have updated their voter registration or voted in between the two occasions.

“These individuals will receive at least two written notices from the Secretary of State’s office asking them to confirm their citizenship status or cancel their registration. Failure to respond to these notices will result in removal of the registration from the voter rolls by the county boards of elections,” LaRose’s office told Fox News Digital in a statement.

The improper voter registration could result in prosecution for some, but LaRose cautioned that not all instances are criminal.

“It’s important to recognize that some of these registrations may be the result of an honest mistake,” LaRose said. “These may be well-meaning people trying to pursue the American dream, and communication barriers sometimes result in a registration form being submitted in error. 53 Years Later, Police Solve Cold Case Murder Thanks to Witness Coming Forward From Hospital Bed (VIDEO)

Authorities in eastern Ohio closed a sixty-year-old cold case Saturday four years after a hospitalized man for fear of death admitted to witnessing the murder and identified the suspect, according to a police statement.

The homicide victim, 43-year-old Daisy Evelyn Shelton of Dayton, was murdered and dismembered in 1964, after which her remains were found in several locations, the Miami County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) said in the statement. A fisherman fetched an arm of Shelton’s from a gravel pit near Tipp City in June 1964, another found a burlap bag containing Shelton’s torso in a channel of the old Miami Erie canal four days later, and still later authorities found Shelton’s head and one of her legs in the canal, the statement revealed.

“The investigation went cold until 2017 when a witness of the murder, who feared he was dying while in the hospital, made a confession to a nurse” and then “survived and was interviewed by detectives,” the MCSO’s statement continued.

The key witness confessed to observing the suspect fatally bludgeon Shelton with a hammer in a home, after which Shelton’s body was cut up and scattered about in water bodies in and around Tipp City, the MCSO said.

The suspect — whom investigators interviewed multiple times — reportedly “[i]nitially…denied knowing Daisy Shelton despite their living on the same street and working for the same employer” but reluctantly admitted to knowing Shelton in August 2017.

Disturbing: Mother Pleads Guilty to Murder of 16-Month-Old Daughter Left Alone for 10 Days (VIDEO)

In a tragic turn of events, an Ohio mother, Kristel Candelario, has recently pleaded guilty to the murder of her 16-month-old baby, Jailyn. The heartbreaking incident unfolded as Candelario allegedly left her daughter alone in a Pack-N-Play pen for an agonizing 10 days, leading to Jailyn’s demise due to starvation and dehydration.

The details of this distressing case reveal that upon Candelario’s return from a vacation to Puerto Rico, she discovered Jailyn unresponsive and covered in urine and feces. The innocent child had endured a harrowing ordeal, left to fend for herself in the absence of her mother.

The motive behind Candelario’s decision to leave her daughter unattended for such an extended period remains unknown, adding to the shock and horror surrounding this tragedy. The court has scheduled Candelario’s sentencing for March 18, where she faces the possibility of a life sentence for her unfathomable actions.

A Year Later: Biden Finally Visits East Palestine to Avoid Campaign Issues

President Joe Biden’s long-awaited visit to East Palestine, Ohio, a year after a train derailment devastated the community, is being viewed by some GOP strategists as a pathetic strategic move to reduce the risk of it being a campaign issue. While the White House cited an invitation from East Palestine Mayor Trent Conaway as the impetus for the visit, political analysts suggest that Biden’s decision is more about addressing political wounds and gaining ground in an election year.

Despite promises made a month after the derailment, Biden did not visit the area earlier, and the delayed trip has reasonably sparked criticism. Biden’s delayed visit is a hasty attempt to address the administration’s perceived lack of attention to domestic issues and rising dissatisfaction among American voters.

Longtime GOP adviser Scott Jennings stated, “I think they have all these gaping political wounds, and they are just scrambling to put tiny band-aids on any of it in the hopes that it will stage the bleeding enough to get them over the finish line.” The adviser believes that the administration appears more concerned with winning elections than addressing the real impact of the disaster in Ohio.

The train derailment occurred on February 3, 2023, resulting in the spillage of toxic chemicals. A controlled burn conducted on February 6 exacerbated the environmental impact. Former President Donald Trump visited the area on February 22, almost immediately, contributing supplies to aid the community’s recovery.

Biden’s delayed visit has raised questions about the administration’s priorities, with GOP consultants suggesting it is a mere “box-checking exercise” to deflect criticism and divert attention from broader issues facing American citizens. GOP consultant Mark R. Weaver sees the trip as an attempt to counter Trump’s narrative that Biden prioritizes foreign concerns over domestic ones.

GOP Governor Vetoes Bans On Gender Procedures For Minors, Biological Boys Competing In Girls Sports

Governor Mike DeWine (R-OH) vetoed legislation Friday that would have banned gender procedures for minors and prevented boys who identify as girls from competing in girls’ sports.

Ohio House Bill 68, which was passed by the Republican-controlled Ohio General Assembly, was made up of two acts: the “Save Adolescents from Experimentation Act” and the “Save Women’s Sports Act.” The bill would ban transgender procedures on minors, such as double mastectomies on girls who identify as boys, and other genital procedures for children with gender dysphoria. It would also also prohibit biological boys from competing in girls’ sports across the state.

HB 68 passed mostly along party lines on December 13, with the Ohio House voting 62-27 and the Ohio Senate voting 24-8 to approve the legislation, but after issuing his veto on Friday, DeWine said he was concerned about the legal implications of signing HB 68 into law.

“I truly believe that we can address a number of goals in House Bill 68 by administrative rules that will have likely a better chance of surviving judicial review and being adopted,” DeWine said at a press conference, ABC News reported. Teens Face Murder Charges After Allegedly Laughing While They Beat 53-Year-Old Father to Death

On December 6th, three Columbus area teens allegedly laid in wait for a 53-year-old father to exit a local Kroger, whereupon they reportedly were “laughing and enjoying” themselves as they beat the man senseless. Now all three face murder charges after their victim died Monday from his wounds.

The victim has been identified as Donnie Smith. According to Smith’s wife, Smith was “an amazing person” who was a father to a 15-year-old son and 6-year-old daughter.

According to the police report, Jamarion Fredrae Evans-Bennett, 19, Dionta Davon Hughes, 18, and an as-yet-unidentified 17-year-old male allegedly became involved in an altercation inside the Kroger with a number of Kroger patrons, whereupon they were asked to leave by security. The three then reportedly went outside to wait for Smith. It is unclear as yet why Smith in particular was targeted by the group, or what was the nature of the disagreement inside the store. Students Walk Out in Protest of Bathroom Policy Allowing Biological Boys in Girls’ Bathrooms

Students at one Ohio high school walked out of class on Monday in protest of a policy allowing biological boys to use the girls’ bathroom if they identify as transgender.

Starting around noon, dozens of students walked out of Elida High School in northern Ohio just outside Lima, The Lima News reported.

Parents and other members of the community have reportedly been protesting the school’s transgender bathroom policy for months, arguing that allowing biological boys to use the girls’ bathroom infringes on the privacy of female students.

“We’re upset about biological boys in the girls’ bathroom,” said one freshman girl who walked out on Monday. “The school board hasn’t been listening.”

Report: Trump ‘Is Endorsing Jim Jordan’ for House Speaker

Former President Donald Trump will back GOP Rep. Jim Jordan of Ohio in the race for House speaker, Republican Rep. Troy Nehls of Texas said in a post on X.

“Just had a great conversation with President Trump about the Speaker’s race. He is endorsing Jim Jordan, and I believe Congress should listen to the leader of our party. I fully support Jim Jordan for Speaker of the House,” Nehls wrote.

Jordan and House Majority Leader Steve Scalise (R-La.) have both mounted bids to serve as House speaker. Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.), who had been serving as speaker since early January, was ousted from the role this week and has said that he will not seek to return to the post.

More Than 1,000 Kids Reported Missing in This State in ‘Extraordinary Surge’

Children are disappearing from northern Ohio in record numbers, with more than 1,000 minors reported missing so far this year.

More than 45 children have gone missing in the Cleveland-Akron area this month alone, and in August, there were more than 35 missing minors, according to the Ohio attorney general’s missing children website.

The disappearances are creating a disturbing trend in northern Ohio, which began in May, when nearly 30 children went missing in just the first two weeks.

Officials at the time called it an “extraordinary surge” in disappearances.

Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost repeated on Monday that the number of missing children is alarming — though he claimed the figure may be inflated due to inconsistencies in updating reports, which the Cleveland police have admitted to in the past.
