Buttigieg Finally Makes It to East Palestine, but It Does Not Go Well (VIDEO)

By Red State. On Thursday, Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg finally made it to East Palestine, Ohio — almost three weeks since the train derailment there on February 3 that resulted in chemical contamination of the area. That was only after a huge public backlash to the lack of response by Buttigieg and the Biden team, and former President Donald Trump going to the site. Except for a tweet, Joe Biden hasn’t made any public statement on the disaster. Indeed, he went to Ukraine to give them millions instead and said Ukraine had captured his heart.

Trump came with water and supplies on Wednesday. He bought a ton of McDonald’s for first responders and residents in the area.

Buttigieg came with a hard hat and an attitude, at 7 a.m. in the morning.

Reporters tried to ask him questions but he blew them off and his press secretary got up in their faces. She said she didn’t want to have a conversation on camera for a public appearance with her boss, and that asking that she do so was “aggressive.” . . .

Isn’t answering questions on camera part of the job of a press secretary? Especially when they need to answer up for how badly they have dealt with this. This is like rubbing salt into the wound when they wouldn’t respond.

Buttigieg’s Office Refuses to Say Why He Took Photo of Dcnf’s Jennie Taer, Demands Reporter Turn off Camera

By Daily Caller. Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg’s press secretary refused on Thursday to say why he took a photo of Daily Caller News Foundation investigative reporter Jennie Taer, who confronted the secretary over a train derailment that spilled toxic chemicals in Ohio.

Buttigieg took a photo of Taer on Tuesday after she pressed him on his message to the people of East Palestine, Ohio, following the derailment of a train carrying toxic chemicals which prompted evacuations and shelter-in-place orders. During his visit to East Palestine on Thursday, Buttigieg’s press secretary would not say why the photo of Taer was taken and refused to answer what was being done with the photo even after DCNF reporter Alexa Schwerha turned her camera off.

“I’m happy to answer your question. I would like for you guys to not have your cameras on,” Buttigieg’s press secretary told Schwerha.

The Department of Transportation has not responded to the DCNF’s multiple requests for comment on why the photo of Taer was taken.

“Well, I’d refer you to about a dozen interviews I’ve given today, and if you’d like to reach conversation, be sure to reach out to the press office,” Buttigieg told Taer, adding that he was taking some “personal time,” when she approached him on Tuesday.

Behind the Scenes with Trump in East Palestine: ‘You Are Not Forgotten’

Former President Donald Trump delivered a positive and hopeful message to residents of the small Ohio town grappling with the aftermath of a train derailment that spilled toxic chemicals into the environment. “You are not forgotten,” he told the East Palestine community on Wednesday.

Breitbart News accompanied Trump on his trip to East Palestine, where the 45th president delivered truckloads of pallets of bottled water to the town’s residents, who are worried about the water quality in the area as a result of the recent train disaster.

It was a cold, rainy Wednesday afternoon in Northeast Ohio, but that didn’t stop President Trump from visiting East Palestine. . .

East Palestine City Park reverberated with chants of “Trump 24!” and “We love Trump!” while the former president visited a creek, where he spoke with Sen. J.D. Vance (R-OH), Rep. Bill Johnson (R-OH), and East Palestine mayor Trent R. Conaway.

President Trump also took time to greet a crowd of supporters, who could be heard exclaiming, “I love you!” and “Thank you for coming, Mr. Trump!” (Read more from “Behind the Scenes with Trump in East Palestine: ‘You Are Not Forgotten’” HERE)

Trump Will Visit Ohio Town Impacted by Train Crash

Former President Donald Trump is slated to visit East Palestine, Ohio, on Wednesday as the small rust belt town is grappled by a train derailment and subsequent chemical fallout.

Local and state authorities previously evacuated all residents within one mile of the February 3 derailment and started a controlled burn of industrial chemicals on the vehicle to decrease the risk of an explosion, which could have sent shrapnel throughout the small town. Vinyl chloride, a known human carcinogen used to manufacture PVC, was emitted from five train cars in the form of massive plumes of dark smoke, prompting concerns about air and water quality for the millions of people who live in the Ohio River Basin.

As Trump continues his third bid for the White House, he is expected to draw attention to President Joe Biden’s relative silence on the disaster and the minimal attention publicly paid to the crisis by senior administration officials. The highest-ranking Biden staffer to visit East Palestine has so far been EPA Administrator Michael Regan, who canceled a climate change mission to Africa he was scheduled to lead alongside celebrity couple Idris and Sabrina Elba as his agency addresses the fallout, which has produced worrisome health concerns for humans and livestock.

Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg, the former Democratic presidential contender whose tenure at the agency has been marked by a number of infrastructure issues, has yet to visit the small town and did not publicly address the crisis for more than a week after it occurred. He nevertheless appeared at the National Association of Counties Conference to comment on matters such as racial equity in the construction sector. On Monday, Buttigieg said he would visit East Palestine “when the time is right.”

Biden himself made an appearance in Kyiv, Ukraine, on Monday as his administration supplies the war-torn nation with more than $113 billion amid the invasion from Russia. The Federal Emergency Management Agency, also known as FEMA, meanwhile granted a request for aid to East Palestine only after Trump revealed his plans to visit the small town of 4,700 residents, a note that the former commander-in-chief sounded on social media. WATCH: 14 Injured Following Major Explosion at Metal Factory in Ohio

More than a dozen people reportedly have been injured following an explosion on Monday afternoon at a metal manufacturing plant in Bedford, Ohio, a suburb just 14 miles from downtown Cleveland.

A “significant blast has taken place” at the metal factory, according to a report by Fox 3 Now, which added that emergency services have requested for several medical helicopters to be deployed, and the majority of the local fire departments are on the scene.

“The incident is believed to have potentially resulted in multiple casualties,” the outlet initially reported, later updating the story to say that “a minimum of 14 individuals” had been hospitalized, including one individual in critical condition.

Ambulances were seen at I Schumann & Co., a business that is a brass and bronze alloy manufacturer, according to a report by News 5 Cleveland.

Biden Deploys HHS to Ohio ‘to Conduct Public Health Testing’

The Biden administration announced Friday that the Department of Health and Human Services and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention will deploy a team of medical personnel and toxicologists to East Palestine, Ohio, “to conduct public health testing and assessments” following the Feb. 3 rail derailment.

In addition to HHS, the response effort will loop in the Environmental Protection Agency, Department of Transportation, and Federal Emergency Management Agency.

All 17 members of Ohio’s congressional delegation wrote a letter to FEMA Thursday demanding answers to why the agency denied an aid request from Gov. Mike DeWine (R-OH).

“It is our understanding that Governor DeWine’s Administration has been in communication with your agency about the need for federal support to assist with the cleanup of the Norfolk Southern train derailment and subsequent chemical fire that occurred in East Palestine, Ohio on February 3,” the letter reads.

“Despite the severity of the wreckage, chemical release, and the disruption to the lives of local residents, we have just been informed that Ohio apparently does not meet the eligibility for FEMA assistance at this time,” the lawmakers continued. “We respectfully request that you provide a detailed response as to why the residents of this community do not qualify for assistance from your agency.” (Read more from “Ohio Train Derailment: Biden Deploys Hhs to Ohio ‘to Conduct Public Health Testing'” HERE)

‘Trust the Government’ EPA Chief Tells Worried Ohio Residents (VIDEO)

The head of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) went to the scene of the freight train derailment in East Palestine, Ohio, on Thursday and told the community he was from the government and was there to help in the wake of the disaster.

EPA Administrator Michael Regan saw a creek that still reeks of carcinogenic chemicals following the toxic train derailment in the town earlier this month. He sought to reassure skeptical locals the water is fit for drinking and the air safe to breathe in surrounds where just under 5,000 people make their homes near the Pennsylvania state line.

“I’m asking they trust the government. I know that’s hard. We know there’s a lack of trust,” Regan said, according to AP “We’re testing for everything that was on that train.”

Regan’s visit came in the wake of Senator J.D. Vance (R-OH) who discovered what appeared to be residual contamination in the water of a creek in the same area, as Breitbart News reported.

“So I’m here at Leslie Run, and there’s dead worms and dead fish all throughout this water,” Vance said in a video posted to his Twitter account on Thursday. “Something I just discovered is that if you scrape the creek bed, it’s like chemical is coming out of the ground.”

Ohio Residents Demand Answers, Criticize Pete Buttigieg for Doing Nothing Following Toxic Train Spill

Hundreds of angry Ohio residents demanded answers at a meeting after a train derailed and spilled toxic chemicals all over their town, causing safety concerns.

East Palestine Mayor Trent Conaway attempted to calm and reassure the 4,700 residents in his town, but after a whole week following the spill, Tuesday was the first time he had heard from the White House.

Furious, residents asked where Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg was insisting he does something about the situation.

“Where’s Pete Buttigieg? Where’s he at?” One man asked Conaway.

“I don’t know. Your guess is as good as me,” the mayor replied. (Read more from “Ohio Residents Demand Answers, Criticize Pete Buttigieg for Doing Nothing Following Toxic Train Spill” HERE)

More Toxic Chemicals on Derailed Ohio Train Than First Reported (VIDEO)

The fiery derailment of a train carrying toxic chemicals along the Ohio-Pennsylvania line last week spewed more harmful pollutants into the air, surface soils and water table than originally reported, fresh data made available Monday suggests.

About 50 cars on a Norfolk Southern Railroad train derailed on Feb. 3 while traveling from Illinois to Pennsylvania through the small town of East Palestine, Ohio. . .

More than 2,000 residents were evacuated due to health concerns over the chemical leak but have since been allowed to return.

State health officials were initially concerned about the presence of vinyl chloride, a highly volatile colorless gas produced for commercial uses which spilled in the accident. . .

A list of the cars involved in the derailment and the products they were carrying since released by Norfolk Southern reveals several more toxic chemicals than first made apparent following the crash, ABC News reports (Read more from “More Toxic Chemicals on Derailed Ohio Train Than First Reported” HERE)

Transsexual Charged With Indecent Exposure After Allegedly Brandishing His Genitals in Women’s Locker Room

An Ohio man masquerading as a woman in a YMCA women’s locker room has been charged with indecent exposure, signaling a possible prioritization of common sense over ideology. . .

The complaints, which go back to 2021, were filed by people who “reported seeing a naked male in the female’s locker room,” with three little girls present in one instance.

Xenia City Council President William Urschel echoed one of the complaints in a recent Green County Tea Party meeting that one woman who complained “went to the front desk and said, ‘Hey, I don’t know if you know what’s going on, but there’s a naked man in there.'”

Urschel suggested that the woman had been told in response, “‘No, this is actually a woman and … you shouldn’t be disturbed by this.'” . . .

A Greene County mother told WLWT that she was “upset” and “shaken” after Glines, of Fairborn, allegedly exposed himself to her and her 13-year-old and 16-year-old daughters. Not Just NYC: Ohio Town Tried to Allow Noncitizens to Vote, Prompting State Ballot Initiative

Allowing non-citizens to vote is something that one expects to hear about in liberal parts of the country, such as in cities in Vermont. Legal battles are continuing in New York City, after a judge ruled in June that non-citizens could not vote in municipal elections after all, though it’s going through appeals. Now, however, that liberal dream of creating new Democratic voters is coming to middle America.

Over the weekend, in Avon, Ohio, Townhall spoke with Republican JD Vance, who is running against Democrat Rep. Tim Ryan for Ohio’s open Senate seat. Secretary of State Frank LaRose, who holds the distinction of being the only secretary of state endorsed by former President Donald Trump, also gave remarks, and spoke with Townhall exclusively after the event as well.

Shortly before Vance took to the stage, LaRose spoke to the standing room only crowd of an estimated 150-200 attendees to tout the successes of the state’s elections, where Ohioans can be confident they’ll know the results of the election that night. It’s not just candidates that voters must pay attention to on the ballot, but also ballot initiative, including Issue 2, which handles non-citizens voting in local elections. Voting in favor of the initiative supports “prohibiting local governments from allowing noncitizens or those who lack the qualifications of an elector to vote in local elections.”

Ohioans take pride in their elections, which includes cherishing it as a right that only citizens have. However, the liberal college town of Yellow Springs, held a referendum and decided in favor by 58 to 42 percent to allow non-citizens to vote in local elections. Upon LaRose sending them a letter that they could do no such thing, the town complied.

As LaRose admitted during his remarks and while speaking with Townhall afterwards, however, had Yellow Springs sued him, it’s possible they would win. He is confident that his argument would likely prevail, but one can never be too sure given that there is just enough ambiguity on local races.
