An abortion-linked federal judge – he reportedly helped fund a Planned Parenthood business at a “resource” center where he was on the board – has ruled that certain videos taken by undercover journalists investigating the baby-body-parts-for-sale schemes in the nation’s abortion industry never can be revealed. . .

The Federalist previously noted Judge William Orrick, who had been nominated to the post after serving as a major donor to and bundler for Obama’s campaign, issued the order.

“Both Orrick and his wife are longtime donors to San Francisco’s Good Samaritan Family Resource Center (GSFRC), where Orrick was a board member and helped fund and open a Planned Parenthood clinic on its site. That clinic sold fetal tissue to StemExpress, a for-profit wholesaler exposed by CMP’s videos and reporting,” The Federalist reported.

Orrick’s order comes in the National Abortion Federation case against David Daleiden and others at the Center for Medical Progress. Orrick had issued the same order a year ago against Daleiden in a case brought by Planned Parenthood, the nation’s biggest player in the abortion industry.

Courthouse News reported the decision followed a $2 million civil verdict in favor of Planned Parenthood against Daleiden, fellow activist Sandra Merritt, his anti-abortion group the Center for Medical Progress and others. People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals is defending a pro-life activist facing a multimillion-dollar lawsuit and criminal prosecution after he blew the lid on Planned Parenthood’s organ-harvesting operations.

PETA, free speech organizations, and other animal advocacy groups are rallying behind David Daleiden, the embattled undercover activist who faces jail time for secretly recording and releasing videos of Planned Parenthood employees discussing the sale of fetal organs. The liberal animal-rights group said such tactics are a vital tool to expose wrongdoing.

“Amici have a strong interest in ensuring that individuals remain able to use undercover methods to investigate and report on matters that might otherwise remain unavailable or inaccessible to the public, continuing an American tradition of important journalism conducted using undercover techniques,” the group wrote in a brief.

The brief argued that Daleiden’s form of undercover journalism is constitutionally protected speech that has exposed wrongdoing throughout history. Daleiden has faced criminal and civil investigations over his surreptitious recording of the employees in 2015.

“The deception-based techniques used by journalists, activists, and whistleblowers are absolutely necessary to access facts hidden from public view and thereby enable accurate stories,” the brief said. “Examples include the use of investigative deception to reveal animal abuse and food-safety issues in factory farms, living conditions in welfare hotels, working conditions in New York sweatshops, working conditions of low-wage retail jobs in the United States, the availability of drugs in prisons, and deplorable conditions at a military hospital.” (Read more from “PETA Defends Pro-Life Activist” HERE)

A Texas judge on Wednesday temporarily blocked the state from kicking Planned Parenthood out of the its Medicaid program, a move that would have completely unhooked state taxpayers from funding the abortion provider.

The order came after Planned Parenthood filed a last-minute lawsuit Wednesday — the last day before the action was set to take effect — asking courts to step in and pause the effort. The emergency lawsuit argued that state officials did not give the state’s approximately 8,000 Medicaid patients enough time to find other providers.

Travis County Judge Maya Guerra Gamble agreed that patients should be afforded more time and granted a temporary restraining order on the action, setting a hearing for Feb. 17.

Republicans in Texas have been trying to oust Planned Parenthood from the state’s Medicaid program for several years, ever since an undercover video posted in 2015 by the pro-life group Center for Medical Progress purportedly showed the abortion provider illegally selling baby tissue it had obtained from abortion operations. Dozens of employees for Planned Parenthood are saying they encountered continued instances of racism within the national wing of the organization.

The organization commissioned the Anti-Oppression Resource and Training Alliance group to conduct an internal audit, which was based on interviews with 64 current and 12 former black employees. The abortion provider’s president, who is black, warned that a “reckoning” over racism is headed toward Planned Parenthood when discussing the results of the audit last week.

“The urgency of this moment, the urgency of the reckoning that we’ve all known was coming … the deep urgency of what we need to do inside of [Planned Parenthood], stepping into leadership in this moment, I have never felt more urgent, and I’ve never actually felt more free,” Planned Parenthood President Alexis McGill Johnson said. “And I want that feeling of freedom to give us all the covers to do the work that we need to do.”

BuzzFeed News reported that dozens of black employees reported instances of racism and “anti-Blackness” when working with white coworkers. Planned Parenthood’s human resources department, however, delivered “no meaningful consequence or accountability for racial harm.”

“I imagine that little of it will be surprising to you that the collective experience of Black staff at Planned Parenthood is as heavy as it is,” Autumn Brown, an AORTA staff member who presented the findings, said. “What we were looking for was to understand … what is the collective experience of being Black at Planned Parenthood?
