Ron DeSantis Pushes ‘Toughest’ Illegal Immigration Crackdown in Country With New Legislative Package

The Republican-controlled Florida Legislature is in the process of considering an aggressive set of legislative proposals from Gov. Ron DeSantis to combat the illegal immigration crisis that has exploded during President Joe Biden’s administration.

The New York Times called DeSantis’ legislative push “the toughest crackdown” on illegal immigration by any state in recent memory and noted that it is likely to pass and be signed into law.

“With this legislation, Florida is continuing to crack down on the smuggling of illegal aliens, stopping municipalities from issuing ID cards to people here illegally, and ensuring that employers are hiring American citizens or those here legally,” DeSantis said when the package was unveiled in February. “Florida is a law and order state, and we won’t turn a blind eye to the dangers of Biden’s Border Crisis. We will continue to take steps to protect Floridians from reckless federal open border policies.”

DeSantis’ proposal would make it a third-degree felony punishable by up to five years in prison to knowingly transport, conceal, or harbor illegal aliens. The felony would be upgraded to a second-degree felony punishable by 15 years in prison if the illegal alien is a minor. ‘Political Persecution and Election Interference’: Donald Trump Slams New York Grand Jury’s ‘Witch Hunt’ Indictment; Ron DeSantis Says He Will Refuse Any Extradition Request After Trump Indictment: ‘Questionable Circumstances’

By Breitbart. Former President Donald Trump responded to the emerging reports of the New York grand jury voting to formally indict him on charges filed under seal by the Manhattan district attorney’s office.

“This is Political Persecution and Election Interference at the highest level in history,” Trump wrote in a lengthy statement.

He explained that the “Radical Left Democrats,” which he also referred to as “the enemy of the hard-working men and women of this Country,” have been engaged in a “witch-hunt” against him since before he became president — identifying the moment as when he first came down the elevator to announce his candidacy.

“You remember it just like I do: Russia, Russia, Russia; the Mueller Hoax; Ukraine, Ukraine, Ukraine; Impeachment Hoax 1; Impeachment Hoax 2; the illegal and unconstitutional Mar-a-Lago raid; and now this,” Trump added, while also acknowledging that the indictment of a former president has never been done before in the history of the United States. . .

The Democrats have lied, cheated and stolen in their obsession with trying to ‘Get Trump,’ but now they’ve done the unthinkable – indicting a completely innocent person in an act of blatant Election Interference.

Never before in our Nation’s history has this been done. The Democrats have cheated countless times over the decades, including spying on my campaign, but weaponizing our justice system to punish a political opponent, who just so happens to be a President of the United States and by far the leading Republican candidate for President, has never happened before. Ever.

Ron DeSantis Says He Will Refuse Any Extradition Request After Trump Indictment: ‘Questionable Circumstances’

By Fox News. Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis said his state “will not assist” in any extradition request by Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg amid what he called “questionable circumstances” while slamming the charges against former President Donald Trump as “un-American” and as a “weaponization of the legal system to advance a political agenda.”

The former president and 2024 Republican presidential candidate was indicted by a Manhattan grand jury on Thursday after a years-long investigation by the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office.

“The weaponization of the legal system to advance a political agenda turns the rule of law on its head,” DeSantis tweeted Thursday. “It is un-American.”

“The Soros-backed Manhattan District Attorney has consistently bent the law to downgrade felonies and to excuse criminal misconduct,” he continued. “Yet, now he is stretching the law to target a political opponent.”

DeSantis added: “Florida will not assist in an extradition request given the questionable circumstances at issue with this Soros-backed Manhattan prosecutor and his political agenda.” (Read more from “Ron DeSantis Says He Will Refuse Any Extradition Request After Trump Indictment: ‘Questionable Circumstances’” HERE)

Trump: DeSantis Would Be Working in a ‘Pizza Parlor’ Without His 2018 Endorsement

During an appearance on FNC’s “Hannity,” former President Donald Trump boasted about his endorsement of his possible 2024 Republican presidential opponent Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) in the 2018 Florida gubernatorial race.

Trump endorsed DeSantis over then-Florida Agriculture Commissioner Adam Putnam in the 2018 Florida Republican gubernatorial primary, which is thought to have propelled DeSantis to the Republican Party nomination.

“I said, ‘You write out what you’d like and let me see it,’” Trump said. “He wrote it out. I thought it was terrible. I changed it, made it great, and I gave him a great endorsement. From the moment I pressed that button, he blew the guy away. The race was over.” . . .

“I got him the nomination,” he said. “By the way, he could have never gotten the nomination. He would be working in either a pizza parlor place or a law office right now. OK?” (Read more from “Trump: DeSantis Would Be Working in a ‘Pizza Parlor’ Without His 2018 Endorsement” HERE)

Trump Texas Rally Goes Quiet After He Mocks Ron DeSantis as ‘Begging’ for His Help

The typically raucous crowd at former President Donald Trump’s Waco, Texas, rally didn’t give him any love when he mocked Florida Gov. and expected presidential rival Ron DeSantis on Saturday.

Speaking to his supporters, Trump recounted how DeSantis asked him for an endorsement for his 2018 governor’s race, claiming the Florida Republican came to him with “tears in his eyes.”

The former president ultimately touted himself as DeSantis’ savior, claiming it was his endorsement that secured a win for the Florida governor.

But as Trump imitated DeSantis in a pleading voice, the throngs were unusually silent, failing to cheer as they did when he attacked other foes such as Hillary Clinton or Ted Cruz.

The incident is only the latest in a series of jabs between Trump and DeSantis, as both are poised to be the frontrunners for the GOP’s 2024 presidential nomination. (Read more from “Trump Texas Rally Goes Quiet After He Mocks Ron DeSantis as ‘Begging’ for His Help” HERE)

Donald Trump Hits Back at Ron DeSantis: ‘Take a Look at His Polls, Which Are Crashing’; Trump Has a #1 Hit on the Billboard Charts

By Breitbart. Former President Donald Trump shot back at Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) on Thursday by pointing to polling numbers after the governor recently criticized him.

“Ron DeSanctimonious is running—without running! … But he should take a look at his Polls, which are crashing like few people have seen before,” Trump said. “That’s because he’s merely an average REPUBLICAN Governor who has great Public Relations, far better than deserved.”

A Monmouth University poll released Tuesday revealed that 41 percent of GOP voters want Trump to win the GOP nomination, putting him 14 points above DeSantis’s 27 percent. Additional recent polling has also shown Trump trouncing DeSantis in a hypothetical matchup.

Trump continued to attack “DeSanctimonious” in a second Truth Social post. Referencing DeSantis’s interview with Piers Morgan in which he decided to engage with the former president, Trump said the interview was a desperate attempt to “rescue his failing Campaign.” DeSantis has not yet announced a GOP primary bid, though his campaign launch appears likely. Trump said:

While I am fighting against Radical Left Lunatics, Persecutors, and unfair Prosecutors who want to destroy us all, Ron DeSanctimonious is not working for the people of Florida as he should be, he is too busy chatting with a Ratings Challenged TV Host from England, desperately trying to rescue his failing Campaign—But it’s my fault, I put him there.

Donald Trump Has a #1 Hit on the Billboard Charts

By Townhall. Amid Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s case against former President Donald Trump, the 45th president is making news in an entirely different arena: music.

Trump’s song “Justice for All” with the J6 Prison Choir entered Billboard’s Digital Song Sales chart at #1 this week, beating out “Flowers” by Miley Cyrus, “Last Night” by Morgan Wallen, and Lady Gaga’s “Hold My Hand” from Top Gun: Maverick.

According to Billboard, Donald Trump and the J6 Prison Choir’s recording “sold 33,000 downloads March 10-16,” putting it at the top of the chart. More than one-third of those sales (39 percent), Billboard noted, “occurred March 11, when its official video premiered on online video sharing platform Rumble.” (Read more from “Donald Trump Has a #1 Hit on the Billboard Charts” HERE)

WATCH: This Is DeSantis’ Favorite Trump Nickname for Him

Donald Trump’s likely sparring partner in the race for the 2024 GOP presidential nomination said the former prez can call him whatever he wants, including “winner.”

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis was asked by Piers Morgan if he preferred to be called “Ron DeSanctimonious” or “Meatball Ron” by his mentor-turned-rival, in an interview set to air Thursday on TalkTV’s “Piers Morgan Uncensored.”

The Republican told Morgan he didn’t know “how to spell the sanctimonious one.

“I don’t really know what it means, but I kind of like it. It’s long, it’s got a lot of vowels. We’ll go with that. That’s fine,” he quipped.

DeSantis then added: “You can call me whatever you want, just as long as you also call me a winner.” (Read more from “This Is DeSantis’ Favorite Trump Nickname for Him” HERE)

Ron Takes on Don: DeSantis Rips Trump’s Character, Chaotic Leadership Style

By New York Post. Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has finally taken the gloves off and launched a blistering attack on his former mentor President Donald Trump. . .

On Monday, Trump went nuts after DeSantis took a shot at him over his anticipated indictment over alleged payoffs to ex-lover Stormy Daniels, saying, “I don’t know what goes into paying hush money to a porn star to secure silence over some type of alleged affair.”

The inferred morally censorious tone sparked a furious response from Trump, who raged on his own Truth Social platform: “Ron DeSanctimonious will probably find out about FALSE ACCUSATIONS & FAKE STORIES sometime in the future, as he gets older, wiser and better known when he’s unfairly and illegally attacked by a woman, even classmates that are ‘underage’ (or possibly a man!). I’m sure he will want to fight these misfits just like I do!” . . .

When I asked DeSantis to cite specific differences between him and Trump, he said: “Well I think there’s a few things. The approach to COVID was different. I would have fired somebody like Fauci. I think he got way too big for his britches, and I think he did a lot of damage.”

DeSantis also slammed Trump’s chaotic, self-obsessed, and divisive management style, saying: “I also think just in terms of my approach to leadership, I get personnel in the Government who have the agenda of the people and share our agenda. You bring your own agenda in you’re gone. We’re just not gonna have that. So, the way we run the Government I think is no daily drama, focus on the big picture and put points on the board and I think that’s something that’s very important.” (Read more from “Ron Takes on Don: DeSantis Rips Trump’s Character, Chaotic Leadership Style” HERE)

DeSantis Hits Republican Poll Low as Trump Tightens Grip on Primary

By The Guardian. Donald Trump may be in legal trouble over his alleged weakness for vice, but his predicament is increasingly placing Ron DeSantis – his chief rival for the Republican presidential nomination – in a political vise. . .

DeSantis has floated criticism of Trump over the hush money payment but on Tuesday a new poll showed how Trump, who is also fundraising off his legal peril, has tightened his grip on the primary race.

The Morning Consult survey shows the former president has 54% support among likely primary voters and DeSantis has 26%, tying his lowest score since the poll began in December.

The two men are still way ahead of the rest of the field. Trump’s former vice-president, Mike Pence, was third in the Morning Consult poll, with 7%, three points ahead of Nikki Haley, the former South Carolina governor.

Liz Cheney, the former Wyoming representative who lost her seat after turning against Trump over the January 6 attack on Congress, and who has not ruled out a run, had 3% support. No one else, including likely candidates Mike Pompeo and Tim Scott, got more than a point. (Read more from “Desantis Hits Republican Poll Low as Trump Tightens Grip on Primary” HERE)

DeSantis Breaks Silence on Potential Trump Indictment

Florida Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis broke his silence Monday about former President Donald Trump’s possible indictment.

Trump announced Saturday he expects to be arrested Tuesday by the Manhattan District Attorneys Office, which is led by Alvin Bragg. The potential indictment relates to a years-long investigation into whether Trump paid hush money to former porn star actress Stormy Daniels. Trump’s former lawyer, Michael Cohen, sent $130,000 to Daniels so she would not disclose her alleged affair. Cohen claims Trump then reimbursed him for the payments, with authorities investigating whether Trump forged business records to hide the alleged payout.

DeSantis broke his silence on the issue Monday.

“The Manhattan District Attorney is a Soros-funded prosecutor and so he like, other Soros funded prosecutors, they weaponize their office to impose a political agenda on society at the expense of the rule of law and public safety,” DeSantis said.

DeSantis Snags Huge Endorsement for President… Even if He Hasn’t Announced Yet

Republican Texas Rep. Chip Roy sent out an email Wednesday afternoon formally endorsing Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis for President in 2024, despite the fact he has not announced a bid for the presidency yet.

Former President Donald Trump remains the frontrunner for the Republican presidential nomination in 2024, national polling shows, however DeSantis is polling right behind him despite not announcing a campaign run. In the email Wednesday, Roy said DeSantis “is a man of conviction” who “loves freedom and the rule of law even more.”

“The next President of the United States must be a vibrant and energetic leader with the faith, vision, and courage to chart a new course. America needs a leader who will truly defend her and empower the people against the destructive force of unrestrained government and corporate excess, profligate spending, and woke cultural indoctrination,” Roy states in his email.

“That leader is Florida Governor Ron DeSantis. Governor DeSantis is a man of conviction — a man who puts his faith in God first as a dedicated husband and father. He grew up a blue collar kid who worked hard, got a great education, and used it immediately to serve his country,” he continued. Knives Out for DeSantis: Top Republicans Rage Over His Comments About Ukraine

The Republican Party establishment erupted in anger at Florida Governor Ron DeSantis after he told Tucker Carlson Ukraine is not a vital interest of the U.S. and the White House should be trying to broker peace instead of offering a “blank check.”

Carlson, the Fox News host, asked several prominent potential 2024 GOP presidential candidates a half-dozen questions, including one about their stance on Ukraine. In his 369-word answer on Ukraine, DeSantis wrote that a secure southern border, military readiness, energy independence, and countering the threat posed by the Chinese Communist Party are among the nation’s vital national interests, but becoming further entangled in a “territorial dispute” between Russia and Ukraine is not.

“The Biden administration’s virtual ‘blank check’ funding of this conflict for ‘as long as it takes,’ without any defined objectives or accountability, distracts from our country’s most pressing challenges,” DeSantis told Carlson. “Without question, peace should be the objective.”

DeSantis had previously criticized the Biden administration, which has pledged at least $113 billion in aid to Ukraine, for providing a “blank check” with little or no accountability for how the money is spent. But his expanded comments in the answer to Carlson put him at odds with GOP hawks, including potential 2024 rivals Nikki Haley, Chris Christie, and Liz Cheney, as well as Republican Senators Marco Rubio, of Florida; Lindsey Graham, of South Carolina; Thom Tillis, of North Carolina; and John Cornyn, of Texas.
