DeSantis Defends Ban on ‘Mutilation of Minors’ After Biden Rips Florida’s ‘Cruel’ Trans Policies

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis came out swinging after President Biden blasted Florida’s initiatives on transgender youth as “cruel” and “close to sinful.”

“It is not ‘sinful’ to prohibit the mutilation of minors,” the Republican governor said in a Tuesday tweet. “It is not acceptable for the federal government to mandate that procedures like sex change operations be allowed for kids.”

Mr. Biden took a shot at Florida’s recent initiatives on transgender youth in an interview Monday with “The Daily Show” guest host Kal Penn, an actor and former Obama White House staffer.

“Transgender kids is a really hard thing,” Mr. Biden said. “What’s going on in Florida is, as my mother would say, close to sinful. I mean, it’s just terrible what they’re doing.”

Mr. Biden did not specify a particular policy, but Florida’s boards of medicine and osteopathic medicine adopted rules last month banning minors from accessing gender-transition drugs and surgeries over the objections of Democrats and LGBTQ advocates. CNN Poll Has DeSantis Leading 2024 GOP Candidates

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) leads the hypothetical 2024 Republican primary pack in the latest CNN Poll, straying from the results of several other national surveys as speculation continues to mount over the popular governor’s political future.

The survey provided a list of potential Republican candidates, including former President Donald Trump and Nikki Haley, both of whom are running, as well as Gov. DeSantis, Vice President Mike Pence, former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, South Carolina Sen, Tim Scott, New Hampshire Gov. Chris Sununu, Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin, and former Arkansas Gov. Asa Hutchinson.

Among registered voters who plan to participate in the 2024 Republican presidential primary or caucus, DeSantis takes the edge, leading the pack with 39 percent support. Trump follows two points behind with 37 percent support. Notably, that is within that sample’s 4.2 percent margin of error.

No other potential candidate garnered double digits, as Haley came in third place with seven percent support, followed by Pence with six percent. Every other candidate saw two percent support or less:

Trump Explains Why He Gave DeSantis Nickname ‘Ron Desanctimonious,’ Says He Regrets Endorsing Him for Governor

Former President Donald Trump explained why he gave Republican Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis the name “Ron DeSanctimonious,” and said he regrets endorsing him for governor. . .

“Well, I guess it’s referring to the fact that when you do something for somebody and they don’t reciprocate, I never liked that. And he was out of politics. He would have had to go to work for some law office or something. And he came to me, he asked for an endorsement. I said, ‘you are so dead right now. No endorsements gonna save you. George Washington won’t save.’ He said ‘I’m telling you if you endorse me, I have a chance’ and he was one of many, many congressmen that voted for me on the impeachment hoax. And I figured why not? So I gave him an endorsement because I didn’t know the other gentleman who was Adam Putnam, was the Agricultural Commissioner, which in Florida is a big deal,” Trump told reporters.

“When I endorsed him, the race was indeed over, but it was over for him. And then I got him passed the crackhead. You know, you had a guy running who was actually the star of the party. Him and Stacey Abrams, male and female versions. And Ron didn’t think he could win. I had two rallies, maybe three. And we had tremendous crowds at the rallies. I said, ‘I think you’re gonna win.’ And he ended up winning. And then a couple of years later, what do you guys do, ask him a question, ‘are you running for president?’ And he said, ‘I have no comment.’ I said that’s not supposed to happen. Because he was dead as a dog. He was a dead politician. He would have been working perhaps for a law firm or doing something else,” he continued. . .

“And the moment I endorsed him, the whole thing changed immediately. It didn’t take two days it took just a short time. I’m a loyal person, so when I use the word Ron DeSanctimonious or Ron DeSanctus, it’s just a shorter version. I use them both. I can’t use the sanctimonious twice in the same paragraph. So I use them but they actually work quite nicely together. Some people like them, some people don’t, but I never did use the word meatball,” Trump added. DeSantis Criticizes Biden in State of the State Address as 2024 Bid Looms (VIDEO)

Gov. Ron DeSantis’s (R-FL) State of the State address provided a glimpse into a likely presidential campaign, citing his past success and his future aspirations.

“Florida is No. 1, and working together, we will ensure that Florida remains the No. 1 state in the United States,” he told Florida lawmakers on Tuesday. “Working together, we have met big challenges, and we led the nation on many big issues. We don’t make excuses. We don’t complain. We just produce results.”

DeSantis underscored positive economic data, including Florida’s economic growth, low unemployment, and budget surplus. He also pointed to key social indicators, from law enforcement recruitment and crime rates to more amorphous “education freedom” and “parental involvement.”

“We have fought against illegal immigration in the state of Florida, [from] banning sanctuary cities to suing the Biden administration over its catch and release policies and transporting illegal aliens to sanctuary jurisdictions. We have put Floridians first, and we will continue to do that,” he said of President Joe Biden.

“We must continue our momentum with K to 12 education by increasing teacher salaries and enacting a teacher’s Bill of Rights, providing paycheck protection for teachers, expanding school choice, and fortifying parents’ rights,” he added. “Our schools must deliver a good education, not a political indoctrination. It’s sad that we have to say this, but our children are not guinea pigs for science experimentation, and we cannot allow people to make money mutilating them.”

Poll: Surging Donald Trump Leads DeSantis in Head-To-Head, Grows Advantage Over Larger Field

Former President Donald Trump leads Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) in a hypothetical head-to-head Republican primary match-up after a 12-point swing his way in only three weeks, according to a poll.

The Yahoo/YouGov poll released Tuesday shows 47 percent of Republicans would vote for Trump in the head-to-head primary with DeSantis. The Florida governor sits eight points behind with 39 percent of support and 13 percent undecided.

In a YouGov poll conducted between February 2-6, DeSantis led Trump at 45 percent to 41 percent, respectively. The change marks a net 12-point swing to Trump in 21 days, as the current survey is from February 23-27.

Trump also dramatically expanded his lead over a larger primary field in that time. In a scenario with eight other candidates offered to participants, the 45th president took 45 percent of the response in the latest poll, giving him a double-digit lead over DeSantis at 29 percent. He has widened his lead by 14 points compared to the previous survey when he and DeSantis were at 37 percent and 35 percent, respectively, with seven other candidates as options.

Reporter Caught on Hot Mic Making Embarrassing Admission About DeSantis Coverage

A reporter based out of Florida was caught on a hot mic before a Tuesday press conference with Governor Ron DeSantis (R) explaining her job was to make him “uncomfortable.”

Atyia Collins, a reporter for First Coast News, can be heard talking with others before the event started.

“My job here is to ask tough questions and make him uncomfortable, I guess. I’m gonna try! Gonna try to at least get one,” Collins said, adding she would like to run up and yell questions at him.

Members of DeSantis communication staff took issue with Collins’ comments, who did manage to ask DeSantis a misleading question about the state’s efforts to ensure pornography is not available to school children. Collins tweeted about the press conference but then locked tweet to prevent users from commenting on it after it was revealed she was the one who was on the hot mic.

DeSantis Secures Hand Full of Wins as He Plans to Announce 2024 Presidential Bid

Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-Fla) is flying high after securing key legislative wins, priming him for a potential 2024 presidential bid.

During a five-day special legislation session, the House and Senate approved seven bills that could give DeSantis a boost for the White House should he run.

Among the bills was an expansion to the governor’s program flying illegal migrants to blue states and his control of Disney World’s special tax district.

The legislation creates an Unauthorized Alien Transport Program within the state’s Division of Emergency Management, which will allow state workers to transport illegal migrants to other states if necessary, a topic that has been both praised and criticized in the media.

The new legislation would give DeSantis the authority to transport migrants from any state, not just those in Florida. (Read more from “DeSantis Secures Hand Full of Wins as He Plans to Announce 2024 Presidential Bid” HERE)

DeSantis Responds to Trump Attack: ‘I Don’t Spend My Time Trying to Smear Other Republicans’

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis on Wednesday brushed aside former President Donald Trump’s attempts to cast him as a “groomer” of young women, saying he is not interested in spending his time chopping down fellow Republicans.

The governor has been on the receiving end of recent Trump attacks, including the former president reposting a picture this week on social media accusing Mr. DeSantis of drinking alcohol with students when he was a teacher. The post labeled him a groomer.

“I’d also just say this,” Mr. DeSantis said at a press conference Wednesday. “I spend my time delivering results for the people of Florida and fighting against Joe Biden. That’s how I spend my time. I don’t spend my time trying to smear other Republicans.”

Mr. Trump appears intent on tarnishing the glowing image Mr. DeSantis has cultivated in the eyes of Republican voters, with hopes of shooting down his presidential hopes before he gets off the runway.

Mr. DeSantis is expected to launch his presidential bid after the Florida legislature adjourns in May. (Read more from “DeSantis Responds to Trump Attack: ‘I Don’t Spend My Time Trying to Smear Other Republicans’” HERE)

Florida Unveils Plan to ‘Dissolve’ Disney’s Self-Governing Status

In a statement from Florida Governor Ron DeSantis’ (R) office, they explained what will happen once Disney World’s self-governing district is revoked, which started after the mega-company wrongfully accused the state of targeting the LGBTQ+ community when they passed a law to prevent educators from teaching children sexual content in early grade school.

The Florida legislature will be passing the bill regarding the Reedy Creek Improvement District during a special session this week. DeSantis’ office is promising the new law will bring an era of accountability and transparency.

“In 1967, the Florida Legislature created the Reedy Creek Improvement District (the District), in which gifted extraordinary special privileges to a single corporation. Until Governor DeSantis acted, the Walt Disney Company maintained sole control over the District. This power amounted to an unaccountable Corporate Kingdom,” Deputy Press Secretary Jeremy Redfern explained. “Florida is dissolving the Corporate Kingdom and beginning a new era of accountability and transparency.” (Read more from “Florida Unveils Plan to ‘Dissolve’ Disney’s Self-Governing Status” HERE)

Ron DeSantis Notes Landslide Re-Election Clout in Response to Trump Jabs

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis had a simple response Tuesday to weekend attacks by former President Donald Trump: Check the electoral scoreboard.

After Trump accused the governor of disloyalty and mismanaging COVID, DeSantis argued that his gubernatorial blowout of Democrat Charlie Crist served as an inarguable endorsement of his Sunshine State reign.

“When you’re an elected executive, you have to make all kinds of decisions,” he said after being asked about Trump’s barbs at an unrelated press conference. “And the good thing is, the people are able to render a judgment on that, whether they re-elect you or not.” . . .

Meanwhile, DeSantis announced Tuesday that he will seek to nix all funding for diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) “bureaucracies” at state colleges and universities.

He argued that higher education has been commandeered by leftist ideologues whose primary goal is to squelch dissenting viewpoints in favor of their own. (Read more from “Ron DeSantis Notes Landslide Re-Election Clout in Response to Trump Jabs” HERE)
