DeSantis Advisors Are Reportedly Preparing for His 2024 Presidential Announcement; Trump Hits DeSantis: He’s a COVID Skeptic Phony

By Townhall. Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-Fla) is reportedly planning a long-awaited 2024 presidential announcement, as his staff prepares for the potential White House bid.

The Washington Post reported that two Republicans with knowledge of DeSantis’s 2024 plans, said that DeSantis is “laying a foundation for a national campaign” amid meetings and preliminary staffing moves.

The WaPo said that the possible future DeSantis 2024 campaign has “already identified multiple potential hires in early primary states such as New Hampshire and Iowa.”

The Republican also told the outlets that Phil Cox and Generra Peck, two key members of DeSantis’s 2022 re-election team, are involved in talks about 2024.

Cox was the former executive director of the Republican Governors Association, while Crist was the campaign manager for DeSantis’s midterm victory over Democrat Charlie Crist. (Read more from “DeSantis Advisors Are Reportedly Preparing for His 2024 Presidential Announcement” HERE)

Trump Hits DeSantis: He’s a COVID Skeptic Phony

By Politico. . .[Trump] is on a collision course with Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, who is widely expected to jump into the race.

On Saturday, Trump took his sharpest swings at DeSantis to date, accusing the governor of “trying to rewrite history” over his response to the Covid-19 pandemic. Trump said DeSantis, who has been openly skeptical about government efforts to vaccinate people against the virus, “promoted the vaccine as much as anyone.” He praised governors who did not close down their states, noting that DeSantis ordered the closure of beaches and business in some parts of the state.

“When I hear that he might [run] I think it’s very disloyal,” Trump said. . .

“He won’t be leading, I got him elected,” he said. “I’m the one that chose him.” (Read more from “Trump Hits DeSantis: He’s a COVID Skeptic Phony” HERE)

Ron DeSantis Proposes Raising Minimum Penalty for Child Rapists to Life in Prison with No Parole

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) is proposing raising the minimum penalty for particularly repugnant crimes, including child rape, as part of his greater pitch for “anti-crime” legislation, which his administration hopes to make a reality this legislative session.

DeSantis announced the proposal, which he believes will help build upon the Sunshine State’s low crime rate, on Thursday.

“Our crime rate is at a 50-year low. Overall crime [is] down nearly 10 percent year over year, murder down 14 percent, burglary down 15 percent, and robbery down 7 percent year over year,” DeSantis said during a press conference on the topic.

DeSantis noted that he was recently in Philadelphia, explaining that their murder rate is reaching “levels they haven’t seen in decades.”

“Retail theft, all kind of burglaries, all this stuff, and that’s a direct result of the policies that they have embraced to go very soft on crime and to give the criminals the upper hand,” he said, making it clear that Florida, under his leadership, will not make the same mistake. DeSantis Puts Woke Colleges On Notice, Tells Them To Hand Over Diversity Receipts

The office of Governor Ron DeSantis (R-FL) requested information on diversity expenditures from state universities.

A memo addressed to Florida Education Commissioner Manny Diaz and Florida State University System Chancellor Ray Rodrigues, which was sent on December 28 and posted to social media on Wednesday by DeSantis Press Secretary Bryan Griffin, told the officials to gather data on diversity initiatives in the higher education system as the Florida legislature begins to consider budget proposals.

“It is important that we have a full understanding of the operational expenses of state institutions,” the memo said. “This letter is a request for information from the Department of Education and the State University System regarding the expenditure of state resources on programs and initiatives related to diversity, equity and inclusion, and critical race theory within our state colleges and universities.”

For each initiative, university administrators were told to include a brief description of the program, the number of staff positions associated with the program, the total funding used to support the program, and the portion of the funding that came from taxpayer dollars. Gov. Ron DeSantis Sworn in With ‘the Bible of the Revolution’

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis was sworn in for a second term Tuesday as the 46th governor of the Sunshine State using the Bible of the Revolution, which the Founding Fathers in the U.S. Congress endorsed over 240 years ago.

DeSantis took the oath of office on the steps of the state Capitol building in Tallahassee alongside his wife, Casey, and their three children, with his hand to the Aitken Bible from 1782.

The Bible came from the American Journey Experience, which the nationally syndicated radio host and co-founder of Blaze Media, Glenn Beck, founded two years ago as a state-of-the-art museum and research library to learn the history of the United States. Governor’s Office Investigating ‘Drag Queen Christmas’ Show for Possibly Exposing Children to Sexually Explicit Themes

A spokesperson for Republican Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis said his office was investigating a “Drag Queen Christmas” show for possible violations of the state’s laws against exposing children to sexually explicit themes.

The Christmas drag show was held on Monday at the Broward Center of the Performing Arts in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. Chris Nelson, a local activist, recorded a video at the event where he claimed several young children were present.

Nelson left the event after interrupting with a protest against the presence of children at the drag show. He was escorted off of the premises by Broward Sheriff’s deputies.

On Tuesday, DeSantis spokesperson Bryan Griffin said the event would be investigated for possible legal violations.

“The Department of Business and Professional Regulation (DBPR) is aware of multiple complaints about a sexually explicit performance marketed to children held in Fort Lauderdale on December 26th,” Griffin wrote in the statement.

DeSantis calls for Florida grand jury to investigate coronavirus vaccine ‘wrongdoing’

By Fox Business. Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis announced Tuesday that he is petitioning the state’s Supreme Court to “impanel a statewide grand jury to investigate any and all wrongdoing in Florida with respect to COVID-19 vaccines.” . .

“In Florida, it is against the law to mislead and to misrepresent, particularly when you’re talking about the efficacy of a drug,” DeSantis said.

“Today, I’m announcing a petition with the Supreme Court of Florida to impanel a statewide grand jury to investigate any and all wrongdoing in Florida with respect to COVID-19 vaccines,” he continued. “And we anticipate that we will get the approval for that.

“That will be something that will be impaneled most likely in the Tampa Bay area and that will come with legal processes that will be able to get more information and bring legal accountability for those who committed misconduct,” DeSantis added.

During the coronavirus pandemic, DeSantis has distanced Florida from the mask mandates, lockdowns and other prevention measures that have affected the lives of millions of Americans in other states. Elon Musk Reveals His 2024 Presidential Pick

Twitter CEO Elon Musk said he would support Ron DeSantis if the Florida Governor chooses to run for president in 2024.

“As a reminder, I was a significant supporter of the Obama-Biden presidency and (reluctantly) voted for Biden over Trump,” Musk tweeted Friday.

“But freedom of speech is the bedrock of a strong democracy and must take precedence,” he added. “My preference for the 2024 presidency is someone sensible and centrist. I had hoped that would the case for the Biden administration, but have been disappointed so far.”

In response to @ProudElephantUS asking in the same thread Musk if he would support Ron DeSantis in 2024, Musk responded, “Yes.”

By Daily Wire. Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has a seven point lead over former President Donald Trump in who Republican voters want to see as the party’s 2024 presidential nominee, according to a new poll released this week.

The Economist/YouGov poll found that Republican voters want DeSantis over Trump, 46% to 39%, and Independent voters also want DeSantis over Trump, 34% to 21%. For all voters, DeSantis had a whopping 15-point lead over the former president, 43% to 28%.

DeSantis beat Trump in every demographic that the poll measured except among Hispanic voters, as the two candidates were tied 37% to 37%.

DeSantis beat Trump in the following demographics: Men (+6%), women (+20%), whites (+15%), blacks (+17%), 18-29 year olds (+12%), 30-44 year olds (+1%), 45-64 year olds (+18%), 65+ year olds (+19%), income <$50k (+6%), income $50-$100k (+22%), $100k+ (+15%), 2020 Biden Voters (+21%), 2020 Trump Voters (+11%), Democrats (+19%), Independents (+13%), Republicans (+7%), Liberals (+5%), Moderates (+19%), Conservatives (+18%), Urban (+8%), Suburban (+19%), and Rural (+11%). Trump v Desantis: Republicans Split Over 2024 Run and Predict ‘Blood on the Floor’

By The Guardian. Terri Burl was an early member of Women for Trump. As chair of her local Republican party branch in northern Wisconsin, she twice campaigned vigorously for his election in the key swing state. By the time Trump left office, Burl rated him the greatest president since Ronald Reagan. Maybe even better.

But now Burl has had enough.

She viewed the prospect of Trump announcing another run for the presidency – as he did in Florida on Tuesday evening – with trepidation. Burl predicts “a lot of blood on the floor” if it comes to a fight with rightwing Florida governor Ron DeSantis for the Republican nomination, and defeat in the 2024 election if the former US president is the candidate.

“I will back whoever the Republicans choose to run in 2024. That’s a given. But I want them to go through the primaries and I hope it’s not Trump. He has too much baggage now. We need new blood because it’s obvious that he can’t get to business now without doing things to make people angry. His behaviour hasn’t changed,” she said. . .

The Republicans’ failure to deliver the much promised “red wave” in the midterms was a significant blow to Trump’s claim to be the voice of his party’s voters, not least because of the defeat of key candidates endorsed by him. But backing from the grass roots, which gave him a tight grip on the Republicans for years and kept its hostile leadership at bay, has been eroding for months. DeSantis Breaks Silence on Trump’s Attacks

After cruising to victory in last Tuesday’s midterm election, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis answered questions this week, including on what has become something of an elephant in the Republican room — former President Donald Trump’s statements attacking DeSantis that drew the ire of many conservatives.

Asked what he thinks about Trump’s “special announcement” slated for 9:00 p.m. ET on Tuesday night and what his response to “some of the less than flattering comments” Trump made about the GOP governor — for whom Trump said he voted on Election Day — DeSantis broke his silence on Trump’s attacks, but took the high road.

“One of the things I’ve learned in this job is when you’re leading, when you’re getting things done, you take incoming fire,” DeSantis explained. “That’s just the nature of it. I roll out of bed in the morning, I’ve got corporate media outlets that have a spasm — just the fact that I’m getting up in the morning,” DeSantis said, choosing to not directly return the 45th president’s fire.

“I don’t think any governor got attacked more, particularly by corporate media, than me over my four-year term,” DeSantis noted. “And yet, I think what you learn is all that’s just noise. Really what matters is, are you leading? Are you getting in front of issues? Are you delivering results for people? And are you standing up for folks?” DeSantis continued. “If you do that, then none of that stuff matters.”

“That’s what we’ve done,” DeSantis said of his first term as governor of Florida. “We focused on results and leadership.” (Read more from “DeSantis Breaks Silence on Trump’s Attacks” HERE)
