Senate Has Uncovered NOTHING Linking Trump Campaign and Russia

By NBC News. After two years and 200 interviews, the Senate Intelligence Committee is approaching the end of its investigation into the 2016 election, having uncovered no direct evidence of a conspiracy between the Trump campaign and Russia, according to both Democrats and Republicans on the committee.

But investigators disagree along party lines when it comes to the implications of a pattern of contacts they have documented between Trump associates and Russians — contacts that occurred before, during and after Russian intelligence operatives were seeking to help Donald Trump by leaking hacked Democratic emails and attacking his opponent, Hillary Clinton, on social media.

“If we write a report based upon the facts that we have, then we don’t have anything that would suggest there was collusion by the Trump campaign and Russia,” said Sen. Richard Burr, R-N.C., the chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee, in an interview with CBS News last week. . .

Sen. Mark Warner, D.-Va., ranking member of the committee, told reporters in the Capitol Tuesday that he disagrees with the way Burr characterized the evidence about collusion, but he declined to offer his own assessment.

“I’m not going to get into any conclusions I have,” he said, before adding that “there’s never been a campaign in American history … that people affiliated with the campaign had as many ties with Russia as the Trump campaign did.” (Read more from “Senate Has Uncovered NOTHING Linking Trump Campaign and Russia” HERE)

Mueller Probe ‘Going to Get to Russian Conspiracy’

By Newsweek. Special counsel Robert Mueller will “get to Russian conspiracy” in the ongoing investigation into whether President Donald Trump’s 2016 campaign conspired with Moscow, former federal prosecutor and legal analyst Glenn Kirschner said.

Trump campaign officials “could collude, they were colluding, and all of this is so nefarious,” Kirschner said in a Tuesday interview with MSNBC’s Deadline: White House news program. “It’s not reckless, it’s not happenstance, it’s not careless,” he said.

Kirshner discussed comments made by prosecutor Andrew Weissman, which were reported by The New York Times from a hearing for Trump’s former campaign chairman Paul Manafort. In a redacted transcript of the hearing, Weissmann suggested that Manafort was supposed to be the spokesperson for an allegedly Kremlin-linked plan to split Ukraine, a move that would work in Russia’s favor. Weissmann was arguing before the judge that a plea deal with Manafort should be thrown out because he had violated its terms, as he allegedly continued to have contacts with an associate linked to Russian intelligence, and had lied to investigators.

House Intelligence Adam Schiff Launches a ‘New’ Trump Investigation

By Townhall. During his State of the Union address on Tuesday, President Donald Trump took a moment to jab Democrats for their Russia probe.

“An economic miracle is taking place in the United States — and the only thing that can stop it are foolish wars, politics or ridiculous partisan investigations,” Trump said, as Pelosi made an uncomfortable face behind him. “If there is going to be peace and legislation, there cannot be war and investigation. It just doesn’t work that way!”

House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff took the jab as a threat, as evidenced by his tweet on Wednesday:

. . .

In addition to moving forward with continuing the Russia probe, the Committee voted to release transcripts for private Committee testimony that took place during the last Congress. They plan to release the transcripts to the Department of Justice and the Special Counsel’s Office.

The Committee also voted to release all investigative transcripts to the public in order to provide us “with greater transparency and insight into Russia’s operations and the U.S. government’s response.” (Read more from “House Intelligence Adam Schiff Launches a ‘New’ Trump Investigation” HERE)

Trump Blasts Schiff as ‘Political Hack’ Over New Investigation

By The Hill. President Trump on Wednesday denounced House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) as a “political hack” for opening a sweeping investigation into Trump’s ties to Russia and his personal finances.

“He has no basis to do that. He’s just a political hack who’s trying to build a name for himself,” Trump told reporters at the White House after announcing his pick to lead the World Bank.

“It’s just presidential harassment and it’s unfortunate and it really does hurt our country,” Trump said of the probe.

Schiff earlier Wednesday said he would launch a probe that extends beyond alleged links between the Trump campaign and Russia that would examine whether Trump’s decisions as president have been motivated by financial gain. New Documents Suggest the Steele Dossier Was a Deliberate Setup for Trump

By The Federalist. A trove of recently released documents sheds further light on the scope and logistics of the information operation designed to sabotage an American election. Players include the press, political operatives from both parties, and law enforcement and intelligence officials. Their instrument was the Steele dossier, first introduced to the American public two years ago.

A collection of reports compiled by former British spy Christopher Steele, the dossier is now engraved in contemporary U.S. history. First marketed as bedrock evidence that Donald Trump colluded with Russia to win the 2016 election, the dossier’s legitimacy took a hit after reports showed the Hillary Clinton campaign paid for the work.

The revelation that the dossier was used to secure a Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) warrant on Trump campaign adviser Carter Page compromised the integrity of the investigation the FBI had opened on Page and three other Trump associates by the end of July 2016. Nonetheless, that same probe continues today as the special counsel investigation.

The dossier plays a central role in Robert Mueller’s probe. In the unredacted portions of Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein’s memo outlining Mueller’s scope are allegations that Trump adviser Paul Manafort colluded with Russian government officials interfering in the 2016 race. That claim is found in no other known document but the dossier. It is unclear whether further dossier allegations are in the redacted portions of the scope memo.

Further, with Mueller in charge, the dossier-won warrant on Page was renewed a third, and final, time in June 2017. It expired in September, when confidential human source Stefan Halper reportedly broke off regular communications with Page. Here’s What Could Be Ahead In The Russia Investigations In 2019

By NPR. The Russia imbroglio is barreling into another year that could deliver even more revelations and political heat than the last one — and maybe even a big finale.

The criminal cases of several key players are unresolved, new charges could be ripe, and House Democrats are set to sweep into Washington with huge ambitions about how to use their investigative and oversight powers now that they wield the majority. . .

Three of President Trump’s former top aides are waiting to be sentenced after reaching plea agreements with prosecutors.

Trump’s former campaign chairman, Paul Manafort, first was convicted in a bank and tax fraud trial in Virginia, then pleaded guilty to avoid a second federal trial in a separate conspiracy case in Washington, D.C. Ex-Trump Official: Mueller Hasn’t Indicted Anyone for Collusion After 18 Months

By Fox News Insider. Former Trump administration official Michael Anton said Thursday that Special Counsel Robert Mueller has yet to indict anyone on charges related to collusion with Russia during the 2016 campaign.

The former National Security Council spokesman said Michael Cohen’s new guilty plea is another example of Mueller pursuing a “process” crime rather than pursuing collusion-related offenses, which was the original goal of the investigation.

Cohen, President Donald Trump’s former lawyer, made a second plea agreement with federal prosecutors in New York, reportedly admitting to lying to Congress in 2017 about a Trump real estate deal in Russia. . .

Cohen previously pleaded guilty in New York to violating federal campaign finance laws by arranging hush-money payments to women in 2016 “at the direction” of then-candidate Trump.

Anton asked on “America’s Newsroom” how long Mueller is going to investigate if he cannot charge anyone after 18 months on a charge related to Trump-Russia collusion. (Read more from “Ex-Trump Official: Mueller Hasn’t Indicted Anyone for Collusion After 18 Months” HERE)

Dershowitz Urges Trump Team to ‘Be Ready’: Mueller Won’t Release ‘Balanced, Fair Report’

By Fox News Insider. Alan Dershowitz said President Trump and his legal team have to be ready when Special Counsel Robert Mueller releases his findings in the Russia probe, because the American public should not be presented with a “one-sided report.”

Dershowitz, a Harvard Law professor emeritus, explained that Mueller — who’s investigating Russian election meddling and possible collusion between the Trump campaign and Moscow — is not going to produce a “neutral” report.

“He’s not going to be fair. He’s going to produce what he believes is going to be a devastating attack,” Dershowitz said. “They’re going to put together every bit of evidence and present a mosaic which points to the White House, the Oval Office, the president.”

He said that’s why he has suggested the president’s legal team demand that when Mueller’s report is released, they are able to simultaneously release their own report. . .

“Mueller is not going to produce a balanced, fair report,” he stated. (Read more from “Dershowitz Urges Trump Team to ‘Be Ready’: Mueller Won’t Release ‘Balanced, Fair Report'” HERE)

Manafort/Assange Drama Proves Media Will Buy Any Russia Conspiracy Story, No Matter Its Flaws

Many media figures have swallowed whole, without evidence, a conspiracy theory that Donald Trump became president by treasonously colluding with Russia to steal the 2016 election from its rightful owner, Hillary Clinton. The information operation that pushed this story turned out to have been secretly developed and funded by Hillary Clinton and the Democratic National Committee, a fact uncovered only through the tenacious digging of Republicans on the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence in the face of major opposition from the media and Democrats on the committee. . .

The latest questionably sourced information in support of this dramatic tale that opponents of Trump cling to in order to delegitimize the results of the 2016 election is that former Trump campaign manager Paul Manafort secretly met with WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange in 2013, 2015 and, ominously, in spring of 2016, just as the Trump campaign was heating up. Assange is holed up in London at the Ecuadorian embassy there and published the hacked emails from the Democratic National Committee and Clinton aide John Podesta.

Even on first read the story seemed difficult to believe. It was based on anonymous sources so non-descript that they could be any of literally millions of people. A document from Ecuador’s Senain intelligence agency allegedly claimed a “Manaford” had visited Assange along with “Russians.” The story mentioned the discredited dossier that journalists wrote about and intelligence agencies used to secure wiretaps on Trump associates despite the failure to verify its claims. . .

It’s been seven and a half months, for instance, since McClatchy’s Peter Stone and Greg Gordon claimed, without evidence, that the special counsel had the goods showing that Trump attorney Michael Cohen had gone to Prague to collude with Russia in the run-up to the 2016 election. This was a key fact in the dossier and Cohen claimed it was a bald-faced lie. Even after he agreed to cooperate with the feds, he claimed it was a lie. In the seven and a half months since McClatchy ran that “bombshell” story that nearly everyone fell for, literally no one has been able to corroborate the story. . .

Weekly Standard editor at large Bill Kristol tweeted, “What campaign chair hasn’t held secret talks with Julian Assange in the Ecuadoran embassy in London?” He later deleted the tweet without explanation. Trump Opens Door to Declassifying Russia Docs, and His Acting Attorney General Could Be on Board

President Trump is “very seriously” considering whether to declassify a slew of FBI and Justice Department records related to the Russia investigation, he said Wednesday. That controversial proposal, which Trump has toyed with for months, may have a backer in Matthew Whitaker, the acting attorney general.

“Declassification, we’re looking at very seriously,” Trump told reporters in a press conference on Wednesday, just before Attorney General Jeff Sessions was forced to resign.

Whitaker, who served as Sessions’ chief of staff, will take over as acting attorney general. In that role, he will oversee the special counsel’s investigation into Trump associates’ links to Russia. Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein had directed the investigation because Sessions recused himself due to contacts he had with Russians while working on the Trump campaign.

Trump announced on Sept. 17 that he was ordering the Justice Department and Office of the Director of National Intelligence to begin the process of declassifying 21 pages from an FBI application for a surveillance warrant against former Trump campaign adviser Carter Page.

T

Trump also called for the declassification of FBI notes from interviews used to obtain the surveillance warrant. He also urged the release of FBI interviews with Bruce Ohr, the Justice Department official who serve as a back channel to Christopher Steele, the author of the Democrat-funded dossier. The FBI relied heavily on the unverified dossier to obtain the spy warrants on Page. Bombshell: Rosenstein Conspired to Wiretap Trump to Invoke 25th Amendment?

By Fox News. The Trump administration was rocked Friday afternoon by a bombshell report saying Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein last year suggested secretly recording President Trump to expose chaos in the White House and enlisting Cabinet members to invoke the 25th Amendment to remove him from office.

Rosenstein adamantly denied the accusations.

“The New York Times’s story is inaccurate and factually incorrect,” he said in a statement to Fox News. “I will not further comment on a story based on anonymous sources who are obviously biased against the department and are advancing their own personal agenda. But let me clear about this: Based on my personal dealings with the president, there is no basis to invoke the 25th Amendment.” . . .

But the Times report is sure to roil a White House already suspicious of some elements within the DOJ and FBI, as Trump complains regularly about the Russia probe he calls a “witch hunt.” Rosenstein oversees that probe.

“I have requested that the Judiciary Committee convene hearings with Mr. Rosenstein, and others who are alleged to have been in the room at the time, in order to ascertain the truth,” said a ststement fromk Rep. Matt Gaetzx, R-Fla., on Friday night. “Needless to say, if these inflammatory and disturbing claims are true, they constitute grounds for Mr. Rosenstein’s immediate removal.” (Read more from “Bombshell: Rosenstein Conspired to Wiretap Trump to Invoke 25th Amendment?” HERE)

Trump Allies Want Rod Rosenstein Fired After Reports He Discussed Removing the President

By USA Today. Allies of President Donald Trump are calling for the firing of Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein after reports surfaced that he discussed invoking the 25th Amendment and suggested wearing a wire during encounters with the president.

Rosenstein, who oversees the special counsel investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election, has been in danger of firing for months. House Republicans filed articles of impeachment against him in July. Reports continue to mount that Trump is considering his ouster.

The calls for Rosenstein’s firing appeared to increase at the same time special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation has picked up speed and took out several in the president’s circle with indictments, guilty pleas or cooperation agreements. Rosenstein was given charge of the Mueller’s investigation after Attorney General Jeff Sessions recused himself because he served as an adviser to the Trump campaign.

The New York Times report was met with an unusual welcome by Trump supporters. Some Republican members of Congress and hosts on Fox News pointed to the article as a rationale to further look into the claims or fire Rosenstein.

Dan Bongino Explains the ‘One Key Thing’ the Declassified Carter Page FISA Application Will Reveal

By Conservative Review. On Monday evening, President Donald Trump ordered the declassification of several pages of the June 2017 Carter Page FISA application and the public release of all text messages related to the Russia investigation from James Comey, Andrew McCabe, Peter Strzok, Lisa Page, and Bruce Ohr — without redaction.

“Ladies and gentlemen, here it comes,” Dan Bongino said, filling in for Mark Levin on the radio. The host of The Dan Bongino Show podcast predicted that the public release of these documents will show that the Russian collusion allegations made against Trump by the Democrats and the media are nothing but a hoax.

“You are going to see one key thing: that this entire case, from minute one, was based on one big, fat hoax perpetrated by people working for Hillary Clinton in the form of this filthy, disgusting dossier with not a scintilla of actual information.”

“If you believe in this, you’ve been hoaxed,” Bongino said. (For more from the author of “Dan Bongino Explains the ‘One Key Thing’ the Declassified Carter Page FISA Application Will Reveal” please click HERE)

Carter Page Reacts to Calls to Declassify FISA Documents

By Fox News. Developing tonight, President Trump looks poised to finally declassify previously redacted sections of FISA applications against former Trump campaign associate, Carter Page. Joining me now with his very unique perspective on all of this including the Mueller investigation motivation behind it, former Trump campaign associate, Carter Page himself.

Your first visit on “Justice,” Carter, we are delighted to have you on. And so, I want to start and move very quickly through this. You have been through so much. We now know that liars and leaks and the liberals in the DOJ as well as the Department of the Justice want to frame Donald Trump in order to impeach him. . .

CARTER PAGE, FORMER TRUMP CAMPAIGN ASSOCIATE: It’s like I often say, Judge Jeanine, it’s not about me, it’s about fixing the disaster that this has created for our country. . .

PAGE: I have incredible support from people that have been doing a lot of work, including Tom Fitton and Judicial Watch. People in Congress like Chairman Nunes and Chairman Grassley that have been doing so much to try to get the truth out there, and you know, you and your team at Fox. It’s been incredible. . .

PAGE: Judge Jeanine, it’s funny. When I was – Devlin Barrett from The Washington Post had a report about me having various interviews with the FBI in March of 2017. The following months, they kept having these various leaks which you are referring to, and I actually told them similar to what Mr. Manafort’s attorney said yesterday. He had a lot of security threats in various – he’s concerned about his safety. That’s exactly what I told the FBI that month as well. Nunes Warns Democrats Will Be ‘Frightened’ by Declassified Trump-Russia Documents

House Intelligence Committee Chairman Devin Nunes said during a speech last week that President Donald Trump is close to declassifying documents pertaining to the Trump-Russia investigation.

Nunes, a California Republican, also warned that Democrats and journalists are likely to be “frightened” by the information contained in the warrants that were sought under the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act, the Washington Free Beacon reported.

Nunes made the comments Thursday at an event hosted by the Center for Security Policy, where he informed his listeners that the FISA court warrants the president might soon declassify would probably be bad news for Democrats.

Should this declassification occur, it would come months after a July document release by the Justice Department that proved the multiple FISA court warrants for surveillance of Trump campaign member Carter Page leaned heavily on information compiled by former British intelligence agent Christopher Steele.

That dossier was later found to be compromised, which cast doubt to be cast on the process that allowed it to be considered as evidence. Republicans accused the FBI of manipulating the use of FISA after it was found the dossier had been financed by Democrats and the Hillary Clinton presidential campaign.

The Washington Free Beacon reported that Nunes’ speech was cause for hope among conservatives, as he informed his audience that Democrats likely have a lot to be nervous about.

Nunes noted that Democrats have largely gone silent on the issue of the FISA documents since parts of them were released to the public.

“And you know why? Because I think they’re going to be frightened by what you see,” he said.

“We knew that the dossier, the dirt, and the fake news stories made up the bulk of the FISA,” Nunes said.

“We thought that would be enough to finally get the mainstream news media to actually engage in this process and see that something had gone wrong,” he noted.

“But what did they do? They buried it. They buried it, and switched the story to say ‘Oh no, no, no, it was actually somebody else’ — there were all sorts of deflections.”

Nunes’ prediction caused a stir on social media.

Nunes said the declassification of these documents could shed light on Obama-era FBI and Justice Department improprieties, which could help significantly improve Republican’s chances in the midterm elections.

“It’s not just going to be economic growth and running on the economy,” he said. “It’s also going to be about what the other side did to play dirty, to dirty up a (presidential) campaign — but not do it through campaign tactics, but do it by corrupting the FBI and the DOJ.”

Nunes’ assessment of the current political climate is that it’s leaning in a direction that’s good for Republicans.

“The reason that they have this fight … the reason that they’re actually willing to corrupt the FBI and the DOJ — they’re doing it because we’re winning, folks,” Nunes said.

“We’re winning and I think we have a good chance to win this fall if we keep the faith, stay on message, and help out our colleagues.” (For more from the author of “Nunes Warns Democrats Will Be ‘Frightened’ by Declassified Trump-Russia Documents” please click HERE)

The Facts Behind the Trump Tower Meeting Are Incriminating, but Not for Trump

. . .Don Jr. was emailed by a British music promoter, Rob Goldstone, who promised that the Russian “crown prosecutor” had information that would “incriminate Hillary and her dealings with Russia.” When the meeting took place, in walked two Russian nationals, Rinat Akhmetshin and Natalia Veselnitskaya, who proceeded to talk to Don Jr., Jared Kushner, and others about how Americans could once again adopt Russian children, if only the Magnitsky Act were repealed. Eyes surely rolled, and the meeting was ended. Kushner even messaged his assistant to try to come up with an excuse to leave the meeting early. . .

CNN’s Chris Cillizza called the anonymously sourced report a “collusion bombshell,” and said it was maybe the “most important [event] of Donald Trump’s presidency.” One wonders how many times CNN and its employees have said similar things, only to see their hopes dashed?

The truth is that it doesn’t matter whether Trump knew of this meeting or not, or whether Mueller can ever prove that he did. Don Jr. and his associates did nothing wrong in setting up this meeting. But the events surrounding the meeting are damning for the intelligence agencies, the media, and the Democrat Party. . .

At the time of this meeting, the public did not know that Democratic National Committee emails had been stolen. Only the DNC and the Clinton campaign knew that. On June 9, 2016, everyone in conservative-ville, including Don Jr., was still hoping to discover the 30,000 emails that Hillary Clinton deleted from the home-brew server she used while secretary of state. . .

Somebody colluded with Russia, and it wasn’t Donald Trump. Veselnitskaya and Akhmetshin were working to repeal the Magnitsky Act for the Kremlin with none other than Fusion GPS, the same opposition research firm the DNC and Clinton campaign had hired in April 2016 to dig up—or create—ties between Trump and Russia.
