Ted Cruz Tells Brody File: "Real Risk" Of Pastors Being Jailed For Preaching Against Homosexuality (+video)

In an exclusive interview with The Brody File, Senator Ted Cruz says pastors being hauled off to jail by the government for preaching against homosexuality is a “real risk” in the future. ““I think that is a real risk,” Cruz tells me. “Some in the media ridicule that threat saying there is no danger of the government coming after pastors. That is the usual response.” But he adds: “The specter of government trying to determine if what pastors preach from the pulpit meets with the policy views or political correctness of the governing authorities, that prospect is real and happening now.”

Sen. Ted Cruz Plans Constitutional Amendment to Protect State Marriage Laws

Photo Credit: American Life LeagueIn the wake of the United States Supreme Court’s refusal to review five court cases in which lower courts overturned individual states’ marriage protection laws, U.S. Senator Ted Cruz, R-TX, slammed the court for “abdicating its duty to uphold the Constitution” and announced his plan to introduce a Constitutional amendment preventing federal legislators and judges from interfering with state-level laws defining marriage.

“The fact that the Supreme Court Justices, without providing any explanation whatsoever, have permitted lower courts to strike down so many state marriage laws is astonishing,” he said.

“This is judicial activism at its worst,” Cruz added. “The Constitution entrusts state legislatures, elected by the People, to define marriage consistent with the values and mores of their citizens. Unelected judges should not be imposing their policy preferences to subvert the considered judgments of democratically elected legislatures.”

In the absence of a Supreme Court ruling about the legality of marriage protection laws, which generally define marriage as a union between one man and one woman, the nation has rapidly become a patchwork landscape of differing definitions of what it means to be “married.”

Ted Cruz: Democrats 'Have Become an Extreme Party'

Photo Credit: APThursday will go do as a “dark day” in Senate history, with Senate Democrats blocking GOP legislation addressing the Islamic State (ISIS) and President Obama’s threat of executive amnesty.

“Unfortunately the Senate Democrats have become an extreme party,” Cruz said in an interview backstage at the Liberty Political Action Conference (LPAC) in Alexandria, Virginia. “They have become a party that has abdicated their responsibilities. Under Harry Reid and the Senate Democrats, we have a do-nothing Senate. There are over 350 bills the House of Representatives has passed and they’re all sitting on Harry Reid’s desk. He will not allow a vote on them.”

The interview with Cruz aired on Breitbart News Saturday on Sirius XM Patriot.

Cruz has introduced two pieces of legislation designed to protect Americans both from U.S. citizens who join the terrorist organization ISIS and from President Obama’s amnesty. The ISIS bill would revoke U.S. citizenship from any American who joins ISIS, a concept that enjoys support from almost everyone in politics, including former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and Sen. Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH). But when Cruz sought unanimous consent to bring the bill up for debate and a vote, Senate Democrats—through Sen. Mazie Hirono (D-HI)—blocked it.

“So the legislation I introduced was to address this crisis we’re facing with ISIS. ISIS is the face of evil,” Cruz told Breitbart News. “They are crucifying Christians, they are beheading children, they are beheading American journalists—and they have pledged to take jihad back to America to murder Americans here at home. There are roughly 100 Americans fighting alongside ISIS who have taken up arms in jihad against America.”

Dems Block Cruz Bill to Strip U.S. Citizenship from Islamic State Defectors (+video)

Photo Credit: APSen. Ted Cruz tried to get the Senate to consider a measure Thursday providing that any American who joins the fight with terrorist groups such as the Islamic State would immediately renounce their U.S. citizenship, but a Democratic senator objected, saying more time is necessary to weigh the significant constitutional issues it raises.

Ahead of the Senate’s scheduled consideration Thursday afternoon of a proposal to arm and train Syrian rebels, part of President Obama’s strategy to combat the terrorist group, the Texas Republican asked for unanimous consent to pass the Expatriate Terrorist Act he introduced earlier this month.

The measure makes providing support to or fighting for a terrorist group targeting the U.S. “an affirmative renunciation of American citizenship,” Mr. Cruz said on the Senate floor Thursday. He pointed out that former Sens. Joe Lieberman, Connecticut independent, and Scott Brown, Massachusetts Republican, introduced a similar measure several years ago related to al Qaeda.

“If we do not pass this legislation, the consequence will be that Americans fighting alongside ISIS today may come home tomorrow with a U.S. passport, may come home to New York or Los Angeles or Houston or Chicago and innocent Americans may be murdered if the Senate does not act today,” Mr. Cruz said.

Ted Cruz: Hatred, Bigotry, Opposition to Israel Led to Me Leaving Event (+video)

Photo Credit: APReports surfaced Wednesday night that Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) was “booed off the stage” at an event hosted by a purportedly Christian organization.

Cruz, the keynote speaker at the new “In Defense Of Christians” organization’s dinner in Washington DC, had offered the crowd–a number of whom were Christians from the Middle East, including Palestinian Christians–public support for Israel. After doing so, some members of the crowd booed at Cruz, and they persisted until he left the stage, noting their hatred and saying he can’t stand with them if they don’t stand with Israel.

“Tonight, in Washington, should have been a night of unity as we came together for the inaugural event for a group that calls itself ‘In Defense of Christians.’ Instead, it unfortunately deteriorated into a shameful display of bigotry and hatred,” Cruz said in a statement provided to Breitbart News. “When I spoke in strong support of Israel and the Jewish people, who are being persecuted and murdered by the same vicious terrorists who are also slaughtering Christians, many Christians in the audience applauded. But, sadly, a vocal and angry minority of attendees at the conference tried to shout down my expression of solidarity with Israel.”

After Booing Ted Cruz for Supporting Israel, Christian Leaders Meet with and Praise Obama

Photo Credit: APAn email press release for In Defense of Christians (IDC), an organization that convened a three-day summit in Washington D.C. reportedly dedicated to bringing awareness to the persecution of Christians in the MidEast, states that five patriarchs from the conference—many of whom have been supporters of Hezbollah—met with President Obama at the White House just hours after Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) was booed during his keynote address for his public support of Israel.

“For the first time in history, five Christian Patriarchs representing Christian communities in the Middle East visited the White House to discuss the protection of Christians in the Middle East with President Obama and National Security Advisor Susan Rice,” the press release sent from IDC spokesperson Joseph Cella states.

“We want to thank President Obama at this critical moment in history for meeting with the representatives of these Christian communities from the Middle East who face suffering and hardship for professing their religious beliefs,” said IDC president Toufic Baaklini.

The leaders attending the meeting with Obama were Maronite Patriarch Mar Bechara Boutros Cardinal Raï; Melkite Greek Catholic Patriarch Gregorius III Laham; Syriac Orthodox Patriarch Mor Ignatius Aphrem II; Syriac Catholic Patriarch Ignatius Youssef III Yonan; Catholicos of the Holy See of Cilicia Aram I Keshishian; Most Reverend Metropolitan Joseph Al-Zehlaoui, official representative of Greek Orthodox Patriarch John X; Bishop Angaelos of the Coptic Orthodox Church of Alexandria; and Bishop Emeritus of Chaldean Eparchy of Saint Thomas the Apostle Ibrahim, Ibrahim.

As Breitbart News reported earlier Thursday, since this incident involving Cruz, funding for the IDC summit has been revealed to have come from Gilbert Chagoury, who pledged $1 billion to the Clinton Global Initiative in 2009. Additionally, some of the Christian leaders present and featured at the conference—and who later met with Obama—are supporters of Hezbollah.

WATCH: Ted Cruz’s Speech at Defending the Dream Summit 2014

Senator Ted Cruz followed up his enthusiastically-received speech at the AFP Defending the Dream summit with a press conference shortly after he left the stage. The media gathered on Radio Row, including mainstream and New Media outlets. Cruz hailed the success of the conference in a brief opening statement and then took question. Politico’s Ken Vogel led off the questioning by asking Cruz if he planned to block funding for Barack Obama’s executive orders, and then followed up with a question about whether Cruz would lead a government shutdown over the issue.

Cruz responded at first by noting that “President Obama has been trying to talk quite a bit about a government shutdown. It seems,” Cruz continued, “the Obama administration has made the decision that they want this next election to be a national referendum on amnesty. I think it’s crazy, that 66 days out from the election, that the president, seeing the world on fire, seeing millions of people out of jobs here at home, that the president thinks the top priority in this country is unilaterally and lawlessly granting amnesty[.]” When the follow-up asked Cruz if it was worth shutting down the government over the issue, Cruz smiled. “It is a very funny thing,” Cruz replied. “There is one person, and one person only, talking about a government shutdown, and that is the White House.” Cruz responded that Obama and his team want to change the subject from the “manifest failures” of the Obama economic policies, ObamaCare, and the collapse of “the Clinton-Kerry-Obama foreign policy,” but said he wouldn’t participate in their attempt to use “smoke and mirrors to distract the American people.”

Immigrants Deserve Better than Obama

We should welcome a debate over how to secure our borders and reform the legal immigration system. That’s not a debate, however, that President Obama and his supporters are willing to have.

Instead, they are devoted to amnesty — and they’re holding the safety and security of our nation hostage to get it.

Although polling shows that 68 percent of Americans disapprove of Obama’s immigration policies, the president and his allies remain committed to an agenda that has created an unprecedented humanitarian crisis at our southern border.

As the son of a refugee from Cuba, I understand the plight of immigrants in a very personal way. And I’m unwilling to follow the president’s course of spending billions on social services but maintaining the amnesty that will in perpetuity cause thousands more children to be victimized.

I am opposed to the president’s immigration policy because I believe immigrants deserve better.

Ted Cruz: ‘Conservatives Are Winning’

Senator Ted Cruz (R-Texas) laid out a seven-point argument for how he knows “conservatives are winning” that almost doubles as the case for his presidential candidacy.

“What I’m going to talk to you about this afternoon is how we can win. And let me tell you something that is not getting a whole lot of coverage in the mainstream media: Conservatives are winning,” Cruz said Friday evening during a speech at the 2014 RedState Gathering in Fort Worth, Texas. (In his brief pause after that remark, one audience member asked, just audibly, “Really?”)

“The grassroots are winning fight after fight after fight,” he continued, citing “seven victories all together.” Cruz’s listed five completed victories and two that he said were “fixin’ to be” won.

In the five: 1) Stopping the gun legislation that followed the Newtown shooting. “I was proud to stand with my friends Rand Paul and Mike Lee and say we would filibuster any legislation [against the Second Amendment,” Cruz said. “That gave the opportunity for y’all to engage . . . suddenly all the folks that were getting wobbly on guns started having their phone lines melt down.”

Obama Backs Down After Ted Cruz Directly Challenges Him on Israel

By Conservative Tribune.

President Obama continues to take bold steps of action that reveal his true feelings toward Israel, and so far, they aren’t positive.

Obama started straining U.S. relations with Israel when he asked them to use “restraint” when dealing with terrorists who were constantly bombing their country and killing their children, which is a ludicrous thing to suggest, as no nation in the world would follow that advice.

The president continued to make things worse by warning the Israeli military not to invade Gaza with ground operations, and then slamming them when they did, placing the blame for Palestinian casualties on their shoulders, rather than on Hamas.

Cruz: “Obama Admin The Most Anti-Israel Admin This Government Has Ever Had”

By Real Clear Politics.

SEN. TED CRUZ (R-TX): Israel is defending herself against vicious terrorists who are trying to murder innocent civilians. As Prime Minister Netanyahu put it very effectively a couple weeks ago, in Israel they use missile defense to protect their civilians. Hamas is using their civilians to protect their missiles, which is a war crime. And you ask why aren’t we doing this? Sean, the reason is sad, it’s tragic, but the Obama administration is the most anti-Israel administration this government has ever had.
