GOP Debate: Vivek Ramaswamy Refers to Zelensky as Pence, Christie’s ‘Pope’

By Breitbart. Presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy condemned his rivals at Wednesday’s Republican primary debate for visiting Ukraine in solidarity against the Russian invasion, accusing them of placing “their pope Zelensky” over American lives.

Ramaswamy’s remarks were directed at former Vice President Mike Pence and former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, who both recently visited Kyiv and spoke with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. Christie offered Zelensky a sheet of paper with lyrics handwritten by New Jersey rock legend Jon Bon Jovi; Pence shared the day of his visit to Zelensky with climate change activist Greta Thunberg.

During the debate, hosted by Fox News and streamed on the video hosting site Rumble, moderators asked the candidates who among them would cut funding to Ukraine’s war effort, which currently surpasses $110 billion since Russian strongman Vladimir Putin launched a full-scale invasion of the country to oust Zelensky in February 2022. Ramaswamy, who has begun surpassing Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis in recent polling but still lags significantly behind former President Donald Trump, enthusiastically raised his hand.

“I think that this is disastrous that we are protecting against an invasion against somebody else’s border when we should use those same military resources to prevent across [sic] the invasion of our own southern border,” Ramaswamy explained. “We are driving Russia further into China’s hands. The Russia-China alliance is the single greatest threat we face.”

“And I find it offensive that we have professional politicians on this stage that will make a pilgrimage to Kyiv to their pope Zelensky without doing the same thing for people in Maui, or the south side of Chicago, or Kensington,” he continued. “I think we have to put the interests of Americans first, secure our own border before somebody else’s, and the reality is this is how we project strength, by making America strong at home.” (Read more from “GOP Debate: Vivek Ramaswamy Refers to Zelensky as Pence, Christie’s ‘Pope’” HERE)

Vivek Ramaswamy: Nikki Haley’s Ukraine Rhetoric Would Put Her on Board of Defense Contracting Companies

By Breitbart. Republican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy attacked fellow candidate Nikki Haley during Wednesday’s GOP presidential debate, saying her rhetoric will make her a friend of the military-industrial complex.

Haley delivered an articulate defense for the need to provide Ukraine with aid, saying the country is the “first line of defense” against Russian leader Vladimir Putin. She also said that NATO countries such as Poland could be at risk because of Russia’s incursion into Ukraine.

“I wish you well in your future career on the board of Lockheed & Raytheon,” Ramaswamy said.

Haley then exclaimed, “I’m not on the boards of Lockheed and Raytheon!”

Breitbart News’s John Binder reported that former United Nations Ambassador Haley raked in more than $256,000 as a member of Boeing’s Board of Directors during her tenure.

Tucker Blows the Lid off the Narrative About the War in Ukraine (VIDEO)

Tucker Carlson began his latest episode on X telling viewers why “pretty much everything” the mainstream media has been saying about the war in Ukraine “is a lie.”

In a brief monologue prior to the interview with Colonel Douglas Macgregor, Carlson explains further and claims it’s “likely” that U.S. troops will fight the Russian army.

‘The Russian army is incompetent,’ they claim. ‘Ukraine is a democracy.’ ‘Vladimir Putin is Hitler, and he’s trying to take over the world.’ Thankfully, the Ukrainians are winning. None of that is true.

Every claim is false. The last one, especially. The Ukrainian Army is not winning. In fact, it’s losing badly. Ukraine is being destroyed. Its population is being slaughtered in lopsided battles with a technologically superior enemy or scattered by the millions to the rest of the globe as refugees. Ukraine is running out of soldiers.

As that happens, the question will inevitably arise who’s going to replace them? If the Ukrainians can’t beat Putin, who will? The answer, of course, will be us. American troops will fight the Russian army in Eastern Europe. That’s most likely. And the assumption is we’ll win. But will we win?

US Officials Urging Ukraine to Change Strategy as Window for Success in Counteroffensive Narrows

Ukraine has a limited window left to make strategic gains in its faltering counteroffensive as men and war materiel runs thin, and Biden administration officials are urging Kyiv to alter its strategy, The New York Times reported, citing U.S. and Western officials.

Too many of Ukraine’s forces and top-tier combat units are concentrated to the north and east, where Bakhmut lies, instead of in the south, where Ukraine hopes to sever Russian supply lines and demolish the “land bridge” between Russia and occupied Crimea, the officials, who spoke on condition of anonymity, told the NYT. American military planners have advised Ukraine to reallocate forces toward Melitopol and Berdiyansk and be open to accepting more losses before weather conditions turn unfavorable in the fall.

Ukrainian commanders have divided troops and equipment in roughly equal amounts across both fronts, likely a legacy of Soviet military doctrine that called for even distribution of resources to minimize conflict between military factions, according to the NYT.

One U.S. official told the outlet Ukrainian troops are dispersed over too wide an area and need to hone in on a single strategic location.

Two officials briefed on a call between Ukraine’s senior military commander Gen. Valeriy Zaluzhnyi and senior U.S. and British military leaders said Zaluzhnyi agreed, according to the NYT.

House Conservative Leader Vows ‘Not Another Dollar’ to Ukraine Until America’s Southern Border Secure

A prominent House conservative is calling for a major shift in foreign policy that would end U.S. aid to Ukraine until America’s southern border is secure.

“No more money to secure Ukraine’s border until we secure our own,” Rep. Jim Banks, R-Indiana, said in a keynote speech at the Indiana Republican Party’s recent 2023 State Dinner, prompting a standing ovation.

In an apparently unprecedented move, Indiana GOP Chairman Kyle Hupfer announced at the party’s Aug. 10 dinner that Banks is the presumptive nominee for U.S. Senate.

In an exclusive interview with The Daily Signal, Banks elaborated on why he framed border security as more important to address than additional support toward arming Ukraine in its war with Russia.

“The crisis at the border is the number one issue that every group of Republicans who I speak to across the state of Indiana asks about,” Banks said. “Hoosier voters want to know that they’re electing leaders to Congress who are more focused on solving our problems.” (Read more from “House Conservative Leader Vows ‘Not Another Dollar’ to Ukraine Until America’s Southern Border Secure” HERE)

US Citizens in Belarus Told to ‘Depart Immediately’

The U.S. Embassy in Belarus issued an alert Monday for all American citizens in the country to leave immediately and warned against traveling there.

The warning comes after Lithuania closed two of its major border crossings with Belarus over concerns about the Russian mercenary group Wagner that has established operations in the country. . .

The U.S. State Department has advised Americans not to travel to Belarus due to Minsk’s support of Russia’s war against Ukraine, the buildup of Russian military forces in Belarus, the “arbitrary” enforcement of local laws, potential civil unrest, the risk of detention.

“U.S. citizens in Belarus should depart immediately,” the State Department advised. “Consider departing via the remaining border crossings with Lithuania and Latvia, or by plane.”

Wagner’s presence in Belarus comes after an apparent failed uprising spearheaded by the group’s leader, Yevgeny Prigozhin, in late June. (Read more from “US Citizens in Belarus Told to ‘Depart Immediately’” HERE)

Michael Knowles Pulls Back the Curtain on Trans-Identifying Ukrainian Military Spokesman

A spokesman for the Ukrainian military is a trans-identifying American who once ran for office on a marijuana-based platform and called for a “perpetual revolution” to “crush” American society, Daily Wire host Michael Knowles revealed Friday.

Michael “Sarah” Cirillo became a journalist before joining the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) in October 2022, and eventually got promoted to the rank of sergeant before becoming an AFU spokesman. Knowles revealed that Cirillo began “to explore transition” two months after marrying his wife. He eventually divorced his wife, admitting that “she carried this secret in silence and in pain.”

“In 2018, he admitted that his many troubles followed a need for ‘constant stimulation,’” Knowles wrote, citing some of Cirillo’s Instagram posts. “Running toward natural disasters and civil wars wasn’t enough because ‘it all felt like a game’ that he could ‘leave & resume life as a white male in the greatest country in the world.’” . . .

Cirillo then ran for Las Vegas city council on a platform of using cannabis revenue to fund “infrastructure, schools, and social programs.”

After joining the Ukrainian military, Cirillo met with Congressman Eric Swalwell (D-CA) in December 2022. Cirillo, who posted twice on Instagram about the sit-down with Swalwell, said the two discussed “ways to make Ukraine’s war efforts against the Russian invaders even more successful.” Swalwell’s office didn’t respond to a Daily Wire request for comment on his meeting with Cirillo by the time of publication.

Zelensky Fires All Heads of Ukraine’s Military Recruitment Amid Bribery Probe

It’s long been clear that Ukraine’s armed forces have undergone some significant recruitment problems amid generally low morale as throughout the summer the counteroffensive has stalled and appears failing. There’s also a grim emerging consensus that Ukraine is suffering staggering losses. Even just before the counteroffensive’s start, The Washington Post ran headlines such as Ukraine short of skilled troops and munitions as losses, pessimism grow.

Related this are all of the recent videos of young Ukrainian men being conscripted across the country which have widely circulated. Those who are fearful of being sent to the front are often actively engaging in evasive and, in some instances, illegal tactics to avoid such a fate. Some with money can pay off military recruitment officers, perhaps.

This week, even one of Kiev’s most ardent supporters and NATO backers – Poland, has said the counteroffensive is likely to fail. Polish President Andrzej Duda said in a fresh Washington Post interview, “Does Ukraine have enough weapons to change the balance of the war and get the upper hand?” And he answered his rhetorical with – “Probably, no.”

“We know this by the fact that they’re not currently able to carry out a very decisive counteroffensive against the Russian military,” Duda conceded. “To make a long story short, they need more assistance.” And now on the battlefield, the Kharkiv area is being evacuated of civilians amid Russian advances. House Conservatives Object to $24 Billion Ukraine Aid Request: Americans ‘Tired’ of Endless Wars

House conservatives objected to President Joe Biden’s latest Ukraine aid proposal, contending that it would only continue America’s proxy war against Russia.

The House conservatives, led by Rep. Warren Davidson (R-OH), sent a letter, which was obtained by Breitbart News, to Biden on Friday, condemning Biden’s request for $40 billion in supplemental funding, $24 billion of which will go to Ukraine.

“This request exacerbates your administration’s out-of-control deficit spending and circumvents the bipartisan debt ceiling agreement,” the House conservatives wrote. “Americans are tired of funding endless wars and want policies that not only help restore fiscal sanity in Washington, but also put America and American citizens first.”

The Republicans asked that the Biden administration provide Congress with its “comprehensive strategy and mission for U.S. involvement in Ukraine.” They said without a formal strategy, “there is no way to develop clear objectives, allocate the proper resources, conduct rigorous oversight, or hold officials accountable for success or failure.” (Read more from “House Conservatives Object to $24 Billion Ukraine Aid Request: Americans ‘Tired’ of Endless Wars” HERE)

Biden’s $40 Billion Emergency Spending Request Gives $13 Billion More in Military Aid to Ukraine

President Biden asked Congress on Thursday for $40 billion in emergency spending through the end of this year, including $24 billion more for Ukraine — funding that would sidestep recently enacted budget caps and set up a clash with Republicans over more aid for Kyiv’s war against Russia.

The proposed Ukraine aid includes $13.1 billion for military assistance and replenishing Defense Department stockpiles depleted by the war effort. Also proposed is $200 million to counter the “destabilizing” impact of the Wagner Group, whose thousands of mercenaries have been a key part of Russia’s ground war.

The president requested another $4 billion for enforcement at the southern U.S. border, although administration officials say Mr. Biden’s border plan works. A $12 billion request for disaster relief includes extended pay for firefighters battling wildfires.

The U.S. has spent roughly $100 billion on the war in Eastern Europe, and polls show eroding American support for the growing overseas commitment of taxpayer dollars.

“The administration is requesting supplemental security, economic and humanitarian assistance funding that would support Ukraine as well as countries and vulnerable populations worldwide impacted by Russia’s unprovoked and brutal invasion of Ukraine,” White House Office of Management and Budget Director Shalanda D. Young told House Speaker Kevin McCarthy in a letter Thursday. (Read more from “Biden’s $40 Billion Emergency Spending Request Gives $13 Billion More in Military Aid to Ukraine” HERE)

‘Acceptable Levels of Risk’: Backing Ukraine Won’t Deplete U.S. Arsenal, Milley Says

U.S. weapons stockpiles will not drop below “acceptable levels of risk” despite the constant flow of arms to Ukraine, said Gen. Mark A. Milley, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, pushing back on the idea that America may be putting itself in danger by sending such a massive amount of military aid to Kyiv in its war with Russia.

In an exclusive interview with The Washington Times, Gen. Milley said he and other top Defense Department officials closely monitor the amount of American munitions on hand and won’t allow it to drop below an acceptable threshold, though he would not be more specific. His comments come amid a growing debate in both political and national security circles in Washington about Ukraine, its prospects for a definitive victory against the invading Russian army, and at what point the Biden administration may change course and get more aggressive in pushing Ukraine toward peace negotiations.

There’s no doubt that the 18-month war has been a drain on U.S. munitions stockpiles, at a time when many are warning the country’s defense industrial base overall is increasingly stressed and unable to meet demand. Some national security analysts have sounded the alarm about both current shortfalls in American munitions and the ability to quickly replenish them in the event of an unexpected conflict.

Gen. Milley said the Pentagon is working closely with the defense industry to refill stockages as rapidly as possible. He said that the level of aid to Ukraine does not and will not endanger American national security.
