US Sanctions Putin’s Reputed Girlfriend

The US Treasury Department on Tuesday sanctioned Russian President Vladimir Putin’s reputed girlfriend as part of a series of measures targeting Russian elites in the Biden administration’s latest attempt to punish the Kremlin for its ongoing war in Ukraine.

Alina Maratovna Kabaeva, who has been romantically linked to the Russian leader, was sanctioned “for being or having been a leader, official, senior executive officer, or member of the board of directors of the Government of the Russian Federation,” a Treasury Department statement said.

That statement describes the 39-year-old Kabaeva as having “a close relationship to Putin.” She is a former member of the State Duma “and is the current head of the National Media Group, a pro-Kremlin empire of television, radio, and print organizations.”

In April, the Wall Street Journal reported that sanctioning Kabaeva was under consideration by the US, but there was concern that such a move would inflame tensions given her close proximity to Putin. (Read more from “US Sanctions Putin’s Reputed Girlfriend” HERE)

Putin Admits ‘No Winners’ in Nuclear War as UN Warns of Risks of ‘Misunderstanding’

Russian President Vladimir Putin said Monday that a nuclear war “should never” be launched — as the head of the United Nations warned that the strongman’s Ukraine war is “one misunderstanding, one miscalculation away” from putting the world in danger of nuclear annihilation.

Putin’s comments came in a letter to participants at a UN conference to reaffirm the nuclear non-proliferation treaty that began Monday.

“We proceed from the fact that there can be no winners in a nuclear war and it should never be unleashed, and we stand for equal and indivisible security for all members of the world community,” the Russian leader said.

The remarks were a sharp departure from the Kremlin’s constant reminders of its nuclear capability during the past five months of the war in Ukraine.

As Putin invaded Ukraine in February, he warned that interference from Western nations would bring “consequences you have never seen” — widely interpreted to be a nuclear threat. (Read more from “Putin Admits ‘No Winners’ in Nuclear War as UN Warns of Risks of ‘Misunderstanding'” HERE)

Experts: Putin Might Be Saving Aerial Firepower for Attack on NATO

NATO released a report Wednesday suggesting that Russian President Vladimir Putin might be saving his aerial firepower amid the war in Ukraine for a potential attack on NATO nations.

The NATO Defense College’s brief, “Russia’s military after Ukraine: down but not out,” outlines Russia’s resources amid losses in its current “special military operation” in Ukraine.

“Russia has not utilized its full military potential in the attack against Ukraine,” the analysis read. “It did not order general mobilization. Maintaining the ability to engage, if needed, in operations against NATO may explain some of the characteristics and ‘surprises’ of the Russian war against Ukraine, for example the limited use of airpower, gradual deployment of older and less precise weapon systems, or what appear to be subdued attacks in cyberspace.

“The official Russian narrative is almost always defensive, but the essence of Moscow’s approach is to change the status quo. In this context, an attack against a NATO country remains a possibility.”

Military experts have long warned that Putin’s designs on Ukraine might extend to other former Soviet Union nations, including those that have already been given defense assurances through NATO. (Read more from “Experts: Putin Might Be Saving Aerial Firepower for Attack on NATO” HERE)

Putin Pulling Russia From ISS, Cutting One of Last Remaining Ties With U.S.

Russia on Tuesday announced its impending withdrawal from the International Space Station (ISS), severing one of its few remaining ties to the U.S. and several other nations.

The move was announced in a statement by Roscosmos, the Russian government’s agency responsible for space travel and research. The nation’s plan is to withdraw its cosmonauts from the ISS “after 2024” and commence building its own orbital station. It appeared to be another instance of Russia’s increasing isolation on the world stage following the invasion of Ukraine.

“I think that by that time we will start putting together a Russian orbital station,” Roscosmos chief Yuri Borisov said during a recent meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin, according to the Moscow Times. “Of course, we will fulfill all our obligations to our partners, but the decision to leave this station after 2024 has been made.” (Read more from “Putin Pulling Russia From ISS, Cutting One of Last Remaining Ties With U.S.” HERE)

Deadly Distraction: Putin Could Be Facing Another War Front — This One on His Own Turf

Russian President Vladimir Putin could be facing another war front, this time on his own turf, as one Chechen battalion prepares a second offensive against Moscow, a spokesman for the volunteer fighting force in Ukraine said.

Following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in February, volunteer Chechen forces joined the fight in support of Kyiv — fueling the flames to a long-held animus towards not only Russia, but Putin.

“We know the enemy’s positions, where Russian military bases are,” Islam Belokiev, spokesman for the Sheikh Mansur Battalion, said in a video message obtained by Fox News Digital this week while announcing a plan to once again fight for Chechen independence. “We have divided the Chechen Republic of Icheriya into three fronts and 16 sectors.”

Chechen resistance to Russian rule dates back centuries, and calls for independence began more than 30 years ago following the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991.

Broad autonomy was granted under a peace treaty signed by then Russian President Boris Yeltsin after a brutal war devastated the republic from 1994-1996. (Read more from “Deadly Distraction: Putin Could Be Facing Another War Front — This One on His Own Turf” HERE)

Russian Lawmakers Blame Losses on Experimental Ukrainian Super-Soldiers

Russia on Monday outrageously claimed that its massive army has failed to deliver Ukraine to President Vladimir Putin because it is fighting against experimental super-soldiers, turned into “cruel killing machines” by US studies.

Two Russian lawmakers told reporters this week that the Kremlin is investigating the blood of Ukrainian prisoners of war, and has found “evidence” of experimentation, Russian outlet Kommersant reported.

Russian Senator Konstantin Kosachev told the outlet that the blood of Ukrainian prisoners contained traces of pathogens he claimed were “atypical” for Ukraine.

Kosachev claimed this was evidence of “experiments” being conducted on Ukrainian servicemen.

IrIrina Yarovaya, deputy chair of the State Duma, took the claims further, and said the supposed experiments were focused on the creation of more vicious soldiers. (Read more from “Russian Lawmakers Blame Losses on Experimental Ukrainian Super-Soldiers” HERE)

Leaked Phone Call Reveals Fiery Exchange Between Putin, Macron Days Before Ukraine War

Just four days before Moscow’s forces attacked Ukraine, Vladimir Putin and Emmanuel Macron had a furious argument over the phone, with the Russian strongman claiming that Ukraine’s Volodymyr Zelensky was lying to the French president, according to a bombshell leak.

Details of the confidential exchange between the two world leaders on Feb. 20 were revealed in a new documentary about Macron’s handling of the ongoing conflict, titled “A President, Europe and War,” which premiered last week on channel France 2.

As Russia was in the process of massing its forces in preparation for the full-scale invasion in late February, Macron called his Russian counterpart to offer his views on the escalating situation and discuss “useful actions” to defuse it.

Putin quickly turned the conversation to “our dear colleague Mr. Zelensky,” accusing the Ukrainian president of “lying” to Macron about his intention to implement the Minsk Accords, which had sought to end the war in the Donbas region.

Putin then took issue with Zelensky’s apparent refusal to negotiate with pro-Kremlin Ukrainian separatists, which infuriated the French president and prompted him to exclaim in audible frustration: “I don’t know where your lawyer learned law!” (Read more from “Leaked Phone Call Reveals Fiery Exchange Between Putin, Macron Days Before Ukraine War” HERE)

Not ‘Putin’s Price Hike’: Fed Chair Breaks With Biden on Inflation

Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell on Wednesday broke with President Biden’s repeated attempts to blame Russian President Vladimir Putin’s invasion of Ukraine for the highest inflation in 40 years.

Powell, confirmed last month to a second term as chairman, explained to the Senate Banking Committee that “inflation was high before” the Feb. 24 Russian invasion of Ukraine, which increased global food and energy prices.

Sen. Bill Hagerty (R-Tenn.) elicited the remark from Powell at a committee hearing after laying out the fact that inflation grew higher over the course of 2021.

“I realize there are a number of factors that play a role in those historic inflation that we’re experiencing — supply chain disruptions, regulations that constrain supply, we’ve got rising inflation expectations and excessive fiscal spending, but the problem hasn’t sprung out of nowhere,” Hagerty said.

“In January of 2021, inflation was at 1.4%. By December of 2021, it had risen to 7% — a fivefold increase. Now, since the war in Ukraine began in late February, the rate of inflation has risen incrementally another 1.6% to a current level of 8.6%. So again, from 7% to 8.6%.” (Read more from “Not ‘Putin’s Price Hike’: Fed Chair Breaks With Biden on Inflation” HERE)

Putin Crony Suggests Ukraine Won’t Exist in 2 Years

One of Russian President Vladimir Putin’s closest allies ominously suggested that Ukraine might not exist in two years’ time.

Dmitry Medvedev, former president and prime minister of the Russian Federation, who currently serves as deputy head of the country’s Security Council, took to his Telegram channel Wednesday to muse about Ukraine’s attempts to secure gas imports from its Western allies.

“I saw a report that Ukraine wants to receive from its overseas masters [liquified natural gas] as part of a land-lease plan with payment for delivery after 2 years,” Medvedev wrote. “Otherwise the country will freeze next winter.

“But here’s a question. Who said that after two years Ukraine will even exist on the world map?

“But it makes no difference to the Americans – they are so invested in their ‘anti-Russia’ project, that everything else is trivial to them.” (Read more from “Putin Crony Suggests Ukraine Won’t Exist in 2 Years” HERE)

Putin Ups Ante With ‘Indirect’ Nuclear Threat After Kremlin’s Sick ‘Massive Strike’ Jibe

By Express UK. Russian state media is continuing with its provocative rhetoric, as TV personality Vladimir Solovyov claims there will be a “massive nuclear strike” that will see only “mutants” survive. Mr Solovyov has previously been branded ‘Putin’s voice’ and regularly spouts Kremlin talking points on his show. Speaking on Russia-1 this week, he made incendiary threats to the west. Mr Solovyov said the world is “descending into bloody pages of world history.”

He also added: “If everything keeps progressing the way it is, only a couple of mutants in Lake Baikal will survive. The rest will be destroyed in a massive nuclear strike.”

While Kremlin allies continue to disseminate their extreme rhetoric, academic Olga Lautman spoke to Express.co.uk about Russia’s nuclear threat.

She believes Russia will use nuclear weapons “indirectly”, bigging up the threat of Ukraine and the US in order to justify its own violence.

Asked if she is concerned about Russia using nuclear weapons, she told Express.co.uk: “Absolutely. That was one of my biggest concerns. The Russian defense ministry has been laying the groundwork both for chemical weapons usage and nuclear weapons, but not directly. ‘They Are Bastards and Scum,’ Russia’s Medvedev Says of U.S. And Its Allies, Which a Decade Ago Believed He Held a Key to Thawed Relations

By Market Watch. Using unusually crude language, a top associate of Russian President Vladimir Putin has castigated Moscow’s opponents, reflecting heightening tensions between Russia and the West amid the fighting in Ukraine.

Dmitry Medvedev, the former Russian president who now serves as the deputy head of Russia’s Security Council, explained his harsh criticism of Russia’s foes on his messaging-app channel by saying: “I hate them. They are bastards and scum.”

He went on, saying that “they want that Russia and all of us die” and adding that “as long as I’m alive, I will do everything to make them disappear.” (Read more from “‘They Are Bastards and Scum,’ Russia’s Medvedev Says of U.S. And Its Allies, Which a Decade Ago Believed He Held a Key to Thawed Relations” HERE)
