Report: Trump Campaign to File for Recount in ‘Key’ Wisconsin Counties

The Trump campaign is filing for a partial recount of votes in Wisconsin on Wednesday, according to Fox News.

Fox News White House correspondent John Roberts broke the news on Wednesday morning, posting on Twitter that “the [Trump] Campaign will be filing for a recount in the state of Wisconsin today.” Roberts followed up his initial post with another clarifying that the campaign is pushing for a “partial recount in several key counties.”

Outlets called the state’s presidential race for Democratic candidate Joe Biden, who currently leads President Donald Trump by roughly 20,000 votes in the state, according to Fox News. Trump has not yet conceded the race as his campaign continues to pursue litigation over alleged voter fraud and unfair election practices in states such as Pennsylvania and Michigan. . .

So far, Georgia is the only state in which Trump is pursuing legal challenges to initiate a recount. The recount has turned up thousands of previously uncounted votes with the majority favoring Trump and cutting Biden’s lead in the state by hundreds of votes. Former Vice President Biden maintains a nearly 13,000-vote lead over Trump. (Read more from “Report: Trump Campaign to File for Recount in ‘Key’ Wisconsin Counties” HERE)

WATCH: Biden Draws Gasps With Unfortunate Choice of Words in Kenosha

Former Vice President Joe Biden used an unfortunate choice of words Thursday while visiting Kenosha, Wis. in the aftermath of the police shooting of Jacob Blake.

Biden’s speech aimed at addressing racial unrest veered into talking about inequities in taxes at one point. He stopped himself from laying out his tax policy in detail, saying if he goes on any longer “they’ll shoot me.”

The Democratic nominee, who has been prone to gaffes, billed his first trip to Wisconsin during the 2020 campaign as a moment for healing in the wake of racial unrest and violence.

He met with community leaders at Kenosha’s Grace Lutheran Church and listened to their concerns on topics like economic inequality, restoring faith in policing, criminal justice reform and improving education.

Biden also visited the family of Blake, a 29-year-old Black man whose shooting by police last month set off another round of protests and in, some instances, riots and violence in Wisconsin and elsewhere. (Read more from “Biden Draws Gasps With Unfortunate Choice of Words in Kenosha” HERE)

Kyle Rittenhouse Lawyers Claim Self-Defense

Lawyers for Kyle Rittenhouse, the 17-year-old who allegedly shot three and killed two people during a riot in Kenosha, Wisconsin, this week, issued a lengthy statement Friday evening after delaying his extradition from Illinois to face trial for murder.

“Kyle did nothing wrong,” attorney John Pierce of Pierce Bainbridge wrote. “He exercised his God-given, Constitutional, common law and statutory law right to self-defense.”

Rittenhouse was charged Thursday with six criminal counts — including two counts of first-degree murder. One of the two charges carries a potential sentence of life imprisonment. . .

In the first case, a man had allegedly pursued him, thrown an object at him, and attempted to seize his weapon. In the second case, several people had allegedly chased him; one had allegedly struck him with a skateboard; and another had allegedly approached him with a firearm.

Later, Pierce wrote, Rittenhouse was “accosted by multiple rioters who recognized that he had been attempting to protect a business the mob wanted to destroy.” That, he said, led to the violent confrontations that followed. (Read more from “Kyle Rittenhouse Lawyers Claim Self-Defense” HERE)

Jacob Blake’s Lawyer Says Police Removed His Handcuffs in Hospital

The Kenosha Police Department released Jacob Blake from his handcuffs in the hospital, according to a statement from his lawyers.

Attorney Ben Crump, who also represented the family of George Floyd following his death in May, released the statement on Friday with his co-counsels Patrick Salvi and B’Ivory Lamarr. He added that criminal charges against Blake remain “pending.”

“We have learned today that the warrants for Jacob Blake were vacated, although the charges against him are still pending,” the statement reads. “Fortunately, a man who is paralyzed and fighting for his life after being shot seven times in the back, will no longer have to deal with the pain of having his ankles and wrist shackled and the traumatic stress of being under armed guard.”

Protests and violence that broke out in Kenosha, a Wisconsin city of roughly 100,000 residents, have been rising ever since viral video emerged of Blake being shot several times by police at close range during an arrest on Sunday. The Wisconsin Department of Justice, with the help of the United States Justice Department, is investigating the shooting. CNN’S False Claim: ‘Fiery but Mostly Peaceful’ Riots in Wisconsin (VIDEO)

A CNN chyron reporting on the riots exploding in Kenosha, Wisconsin, during the early hours of Tuesday morning appeared to have gone unnoticed.

“Fiery But Mostly Peaceful Protests After Police Shooting,” the news network’s television headline blared while its reporter, Omar Jimenez, stood in front of several burning cars.

The footage features Jiminez explaining to viewers that while the city burns to the ground behind him, the so-called protesters destroying the blue-collar midwestern town were being “mostly peaceful.”

“What you’re seeing behind me is one of multiple locations that have been burning in Kenosha, Wisconsin, over the course of the night,” Jiminez said, reporting that daytime demonstrations marked a stark contrast to the riots occurring behind him after Jacob Blake’s shooting by Kenosha police on Sunday. “The common theme that ties all of this together is an expression of anger and frustration over what people feel like has become an all-too-familiar story.”

Jacob Blake Admitted to Police He Had Knife in His Possession Before Shooting

Jacob Blake, the 29-year-old black man shot multiple times by Kenosha police, admitted to law enforcement that he “had a knife in his possession,” the Wisconsin Department of Justice announced in a Wednesday statement.

“DCI agents recovered a knife from the driver’s side floorboard of Mr. Blake’s vehicle,” the statement added.

The Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel added that “Blake told police he had a knife in an interview following the shooting. It is unclear whether responding officers knew Blake had a knife. Attorney General Josh Kaul in a news conference was asked repeatedly about it and declined to be more specific.”

The state also confirmed that only one officer fired shots, and named the officer as Rusten Sheskey, a seven-year veteran of the force. (Read more from “Jacob Blake Admitted to Police He Had Knife in His Possession Before Shooting” HERE)

WATCH: Mother of Jacob Blake Says She Is ‘Praying’ for Police Officers, Condemns Rioting and Looting in Son’s Name

The mother of Jacob Blake, who was shot Sunday by police officers in Kenosha, Wisconsin, addressed the public during a press conference regarding the status of her son Tuesday afternoon.

“We really just need prayers,” Julia Jackson said. She added that she “noticed a lot of damage” around the city.

“It doesn’t reflect my son or my family. If Jacob knew what was going on, as far as that goes, the violence and the destruction, he would be very unpleased. So I’m really asking and encouraging everyone in Wisconsin and abroad to take a moment and examine your hearts. Citizens, police officers, firemen, clergy, politicians, do Jacob justice on this level and examine your hearts. We need healing,” Jackson said. . .

“As I pray for my son’s healing, physically, emotionally, and spiritually, I also have been praying even before this for the healing of our country. God has placed each and everyone of us in this country because he wanted us to be here,” she said.

“Clearly, you can see by now that I have beautiful brown skin. But take a look at your hand, and whatever shade it is, it is beautiful as well. How dare we hate what we are. We are humans. God did not make one type of tree, or flower, or fish, or horse, or grass, or rock. How dare you ask him to make one type of human that looks just like you. I’m not talking to just caucasian people. I’m talking to everyone: white, black, Japanese, Chinese, red, brown — no one is superior to the other. The only supreme being is God himself. Please, let’s begin to pray for healing for our nation. We are the United States. Have we been united? Do you understand what’s going to happen when we fall? Because a house that is against each other cannot stand. To all of the police officers, I’m praying for you and your families,” Jackson added. National Guard Deployed to Manage Protests in Wisconsin

Gov. Tony Evers deployed the Wisconsin National Guard to assist local law enforcement agencies with protests following the officer-involved shooting of Jacob Blake.

Evers, a Democrat, confirmed that 125 members of the National Guard would be deployed to Kenosha, the city where Blake, a 29-year-old black man, was shot several times by police officers during an arrest on Sunday. The governor said they would be tasked with protecting infrastructure from vandalism and looting as well as ensuring the safety of firefighters working in the area.

“This is a limited mobilization of the National Guard focused on supporting the needs of local first responders to protect critical infrastructure, such as utilities and fire stations, and to ensure Kenoshians are able to assemble safely,” Evers said on Monday.

The Kenosha Police Department issued a curfew just after midnight early Monday morning that lasted until 7 a.m. The department sent a notice to the public via text message, noting that the curfew was caused by “numerous armed robberies and shots fired calls.” The department announced that the curfew would be reinstated at 8 p.m. on Monday evening. . .

Kenosha was the site of protests and riots on Sunday night after the video of Blake’s shooting went viral. Several fires were set during the riots, and tear gas was used by police to enforce a curfew that was implemented in the city. One officer was hit with a brick during the riots.
