As European Union bosses now openly push for the complete elimination of national sovereignty in favor of a so-called “federation” with its own army, liberty-minded Czech Republic President Vaclav Klaus warned that the destruction of democracy and the nation-state within the EU has entered its final phases. The anti-communist hero has been sounding the alarm for years, but his recent public remarks represent the most forceful warning yet about the looming threat posed by the budding supranational regime in Brussels.
Klaus, who has a new book coming out entitled Europe: The Shattering of Illusions, largely blamed “two-faced” politicians for allowing the precarious situation to develop. Included among the culprits is the Conservative Party in the United Kingdom, which purports to be skeptical of the EU but has so far refused to allow British voters — polls show they overwhelmingly oppose the institution — any say in the matter. The situation is also partly due to the fact that political leaders want to avoid responsibility and accountability to their constituents, Klaus added.
Opposition to the formation of an “ever-closer union” is growing throughout Europe. The new socialist president of France Francois Hollande and pro-integration extremist Chancellor Angela Merkel of Germany, however, both demanded last week that more political and economic power be handed over to the EU anyway. “We don’t have a choice, but to march toward the destiny that is ours, march toward a unified Europe,” proclaimed Hollande.
Other officials called for an end to national veto powers over foreign and defense policies as part of an effort to pave the way for a single EU military. In addition, almost a dozen European governments called for changes in the way treaties are adopted to ensure that voters would no longer be able to halt the expansion of the sprawling super-state — not that they could before, as evidenced by the EU steamroller marching on in spite of numerous rejections in referendums from France and the Netherlands to Ireland.
Top European bosses echoed the calls for deeper integration as well. EU Commission President José Manuel Barroso, a former Maoist revolutionary, for example, demanded that national governments surrender even more sovereignty to erect what he called a federation. “We will need to move toward a federation of nation states. This is our political horizon,” he announced during a “state of the union” speech, adding that “unavoidable” changes to European treaties had to be made. “This is what must guide our work in the years to come.”

Libertarian presidential candidate Gary Johnson filed an anti-trust lawsuit suit in federal court Friday alleging that the Democratic and Republican parties are conspiring to keep third-party candidates out of the presidential debates and, as a result, out of the White House.
In the suit, Johnson’s attorneys argue that the rules of the televised debates, which are set by the major parties, are deliberately structured to bar third party candidates and quash their candidacies. The suit asks that the U.S. District Court in Washington D.C. therefore impose a temporary restraining order blocking the debates until all “constitutionally eligible” candidates be allowed to participate.
“The view that presidential debates are critical to the outcome of the election is now universally held,” the suit reads. “From that premise, it follows that the participation by a candidate in the nationally-televised debates is equally critical to his or her candidacy.”
The debate rules specify that to be included, candidates must receive at least 15% in a major poll. Most major polls do not even list Johnson as an option.
The suit argues that since the president and vice president are paid a salary, the pursuit of the White House can be defined as commerce and thus be regulated by the Sherman Antitrust Act.

For Alaskans who are almost completely dependent on daily flights from the lower-48 for most essentials such as food and medicine, failure to “prep” borders on insanity.
Given the increasing economic instability of the U.S., all Americans should be taking steps to provide for themselves and their loved ones in case of economic and/or natural calamity.
Although the narration leaves something to be desired, this video gives a good background on the potential crisis and the unconventional steps many are taking to prepare.
Pointing out that America’s interests across the globe are under attack and criticizing Obama’s reliance on the killing of Osama Bin Laden as the cornerstone of his foreign policy, Allen West concludes that Obama has now overtaken Carter as the weakest president ever:

The draft law states that “marriage is a union of two people, of different or the same gender”.
It says all references to “mothers and fathers” in the civil code – which enshrines French law – will be swapped for simply “parents”.
The law would also give equal adoption rights to homosexual and heterosexual couples.
Justice Minister Christiane Taubira told France’s Catholic newspaper La Croix: “Who is to say that a heterosexual couple will bring a child up better than a homosexual couple, that they will guarantee the best conditions for the child’s development?”

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said on Monday Israel has no roots in the Middle East and would be “eliminated,” ignoring a U.N. warning to avoid incendiary rhetoric ahead of the annual General Assembly session.
Ahmadinejad also said he did not take seriously the threat that Israel could launch a military strike on Iran’s nuclear facilities, denied sending arms to Syria, and alluded to Iran’s threats to the life of British author Salman Rushdie.
The United States quickly dismissed the Iranian president’s comments as “disgusting, offensive and outrageous.”
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has hinted Israel could strike Iran’s nuclear sites and criticized U.S. President Barack Obama’s position that sanctions and diplomacy should be given more time to stop Tehran from acquiring nuclear weapons.
Iran denies it is seeking nuclear arms and says its atomic work is peaceful and aimed at generating electricity.
“Fundamentally we do not take seriously the threats of the Zionists,” Ahmadinejad, in New York for this week’s U.N. General Assembly, told reporters. “We have all the defensive means at our disposal and we are ready to defend ourselves.”

Several days ago, a good friend and leader in the native community sent me an email from the former chair of the Alaska Federation of Natives. This email, publicized throughout the Alaska native community, was written by Nels Anderson, Jr. His email made a number of excellent points about how the regional native corporations were perpetuating the problems in the villages and were improperly interfering with native voting in Alaska. Many of Mr. Anderson’s points were nearly identical to what my campaign advocated in 2010.
After receiving a copy of Mr. Anderson’s email, I contacted Mr. Anderson and asked for his permission to publish the email on our Restoring Liberty site, under the Alaska News section. He graciously agreed.
Mr. Anderson’s article was posted at Restoring Liberty the evening of September 24. It ran for almost two days before I was contacted by Mr. Anderson again. Without explanation, he retracted his permission for the article to be posted. Although under no legal obligation to do so, we have as a courtesy to Mr. Anderson removed his article from this page. Additionally, as requested by Mr. Anderson, we have posted his retraction of permission HERE.
We have requested additional dialog with Mr. Anderson to determine what was behind his retraction, but he has declined.
By Nicholas Ballasy. President Barack Obama will appear on ABC’s “The View” in New York but has no scheduled meetings with world leaders who are in the city for the United Nations General Assembly meeting.
Chris Wallace, host of “Fox News Sunday” asked Obama campaign senior adviser Robert Gibbs why the president is not meeting privately with any world leaders in New York.
“The president has blocked out time to appear on ‘The View’ on Tuesday. So he has time for Whoopi Goldberg, but he doesn’t have time for world leaders?” asked Wallace.
“No, Chris. Look, the president is going to be actively involved at the U.N. General Assembly,” said Gibbs on Sunday.
“He’s not meeting in private with leaders. He’s giving a speech.” Read more from this story HERE.

The Alaskan Republican Party central committee meeting in Fairbanks on Saturday, September 22, 2012, adjourned after only an hour, proving that the dysfunction of the state party is only growing worse.
Apparently, a dispute arose over a member of the ARP SCC who was recording the meeting. After a motion to remove the member who was recording passed, the meeting was recessed so he could leave. Later, when many of the members of the SCC were apparently no longer in the room, the out-going ARP Chair, Randy Ruedrich, adjourned the meeting without conducting additional business.
The below video is lengthy. You may want to skip forward to the discussion about recording the SCC at about 50 minutes. Ruedrich’s adjournment then occurs at about 1:06.
Stay tuned for a column from a district chair who attended this SCC meeting.
