Fox News Contributor Makes Heartbreaking Announcement, Here’s Obama’s Response

marykatherineham-913x512Fox News contributor and Town Hall editor Mary Katherine Ham lost her husband, White House staffer Jake Brewer, in a cycling accident on Saturday.

Brewer, 34, was participating in the 150 mile Ride to Conquer Cancer in the Washington D.C. area when he lost control of his bike and swerved into an oncoming car.

Ham wrote about her husband in an Instagram post on Sunday: “I lost part of my heart and the father of my sweet babies.” Mary Katherine, 35, and Jake were married in 2011 and have a 2-year-old daughter, Georgia, together. She is expecting their second child in two months . . .

Ham’s fellow Town Hall editor, Guy Benson has set up a GoFundMe page to support the education of the couple’s children, which has reached over $150,000 of its $200,000 goal in less than 24 hours. Senior Editor Ed Morrissey wrote on their website Sunday: “Mary Katharine faces some very difficult challenges for her children and herself without Jake, but we can help take worries over education off the table for her.”

President Obama released a statement on Sunday, which reads, in part:

I am heartbroken at the tragic loss of one of my advisors, Jake Brewer. We set out to recruit the best of the best to join their government and help us harness the power of technology and data to innovate new solutions for the 21st century. Simply put, Jake was one of the best. Armed with a brilliant mind, a big heart, and an insatiable desire to give back, Jake devoted his life to empowering people and making government work better for them… I’ve often said that today’s younger generation is smarter, more determined, and more capable of making a difference than I was as a young man. Jake was proof of that. Michelle and I are praying for all of Jake’s family and his many friends, most of all his wife, Mary Katharine Ham, their daughter, Georgia, and their growing family. They’ll always have a family here at the White House.

Disturbing Note Given to Colorado Second-Grader by Teacher Angers Girl’s Father [+video]

Hitane_Elementary_School_1st_grade_classroom_2Even the school now admits a note that a teacher passed to a 7-year-old girl at Aurora Academy Charter School was inappropriate . . .

The fourth grade teacher passed the note to a second grade student on the playground. The student is not in his class.

The note contained bizarre pictures of the teacher with his tongue out and casually used the teacher’s first name. He called the student names like “stinky butt” . . .

“As I read over the letter, it was concerning since it had the teacher’s face and he was using pet names to refer to her,” he said. “We felt it was inappropriate and grooming behaviors,” [the girl’s father said].

[Her father] said he wasn’t sure what to do until the next school day when the teacher gave his daughter another note. (Read more from “Disturbing Note Given to Second-Grader by Teacher Angers Girl’s Father” HERE)

Texas Family Arrested for Vandalizing Own Truck With Racial Message

BlackLivesMatter-1A Texas family has been arrested for painting profanities and racially charged slogans on their pickup truck and falsely claiming others had done so, police said on Monday.

Scott Lattin, 45, was arrested last week, and his wife, Cindy, and their son Jason, 18, were taken into custody on Monday. All three are suspected of making a false police report, said police in Whitney, northwest of Waco.

Scott Lattin told officers his truck was tagged with “Black Lives Matter” and profanities earlier this month while it was parked in his driveway, police said. Lattin claimed the graffiti was in response to pro-police logos he had put on the vehicle, police said.

Whitney Police Chief Chris Bentley said Lattin’s initial report stated only the outside of the truck was damaged, with no damage to the inside.

A GoFundMe account set up to help the Lattin family repair the damages received nearly $6,000 in donations. Many donors saw the family as victims for their support of police, who have faced criticism after a series of incidents nationwide where officers have fatally shot unarmed black men. Missouri Toddler Is Dead for 12 Minutes, Then This Incredible Thing Happened

2C8C932100000578-3242081-image-a-42_1442759811899A three-year-old girl came back to life after drowning in a pool leaving her family and doctors astounded.

The Nipper family, from Cape Girardeau, Missouri, had been enjoying a pool party with friends on July 29 when the tragic accident occurred.

Alise Nipper had showed no signs of life when she was pulled from the water, but her determined mother Jamie continued with CPR for 12 desperate minutes until there was a heartbeat.

Despite suffering from traumatic injuries, within weeks, Alise defied all expectations to make a full recovery and has even returned to the pool less than two months later.

On the day in question, Jamie Nipper and her daughter Alise had swum for a couple of hours, but when the weather suddenly turned, everyone decided to head inside. (Read more from “Toddler Is Dead for 12 Minutes, Then This Incredible Thing Happened” HERE)

Selfies KILLED More People Than Sharks This Year

rs_560x415-150909135655-1024-gopro-fail-selfie-stickThink before you selfie, you guys, because sometimes getting the right angle on those pictures can have serious (even fatal!) consequences…

According to a new study, there have now been more deaths this year from selfies than there have been from shark attacks. Ahem, we repeat, sharks! The death toll for selfie-related deaths now totals 12 people, whereas deaths related to shark attacks totals 8 people.

The most recent selfie related death occurred in India where, according to BBC, a 66-year-old tourist named Hideto Ueda died after attempting to take a, you guessed it, photo of himself for his friends and family to see.

Per an eyewitness’ account, Ueda and a friend fell to their untimely deaths while attempting to take a picture at the Taj Mahal’s Royal Gate. Ueda lost consciousness and was taken to the hospital where he later passed away. (Read more from “Selfies KILLED More People Than Sharks This Year” HERE)

Huge Accusation Made Against Kim Davis, It Could Land Her in More Hot Water

Free-Kim-Davis-913x512The remedy Kentucky clerk Kim Davis devised for handling marriage licenses may violate the court order that freed her from jail, according to court documents filed on Friday.

A document filed by Richard Hughes, attorney for Rowan County, Ky., Deputy Clerk Brian Mason, said that on Monday, Davis’ first day back at work, she “confiscated all the original forms, and provided a changed form which deletes all mentions of the County, fills in one of the blanks that would otherwise be the County with the Court’s styling, deletes her name, deletes all of the deputy clerk references, and in place of deputy clerk types in the name of Brian Mason, and has him initial rather than sign.”

This was in keeping with Davis’ pledge that she would remove her name from the license forms and substitute that of the court that first jailed and later freed her.

“It also appears to this counsel those changes were made in some attempt to circumvent the court’s orders and may have raised to the level of interference against the court’s orders,” Hughes’ Friday filing said.

The change means the licenses may in fact have some “substantial questions about validity,” the court filing said.

“It is expected there will be other parties to the action that will bring a request to this court for a review on whether or not her actions are against the orders of the court,” the court papers said. Horrific: U.S. Soldiers Told to ‘Ignore’ Afghan Allies’ Abuse of Boys

1383052923699In his last phone call home, Lance Cpl. Gregory Buckley Jr. told his father what was troubling him: From his bunk in southern Afghanistan, he could hear Afghan police officers sexually abusing boys they had brought to the base.

“At night we can hear them screaming, but we’re not allowed to do anything about it,” the Marine’s father, Gregory Buckley Sr., recalled his son telling him before he was shot to death at the base in 2012. He urged his son to tell his superiors. “My son said that his officers told him to look the other way because it’s their culture.”

Rampant sexual abuse of children has long been a problem in Afghanistan, particularly among armed commanders who dominate much of the rural landscape and can bully the population. The practice is called bacha bazi, literally “boy play,” and American soldiers and Marines have been instructed not to intervene — in some cases, not even when their Afghan allies have abused boys on military bases, according to interviews and court records.

The policy has endured as American forces have recruited and organized Afghan militias to help hold territory against the Taliban. But soldiers and Marines have been increasingly troubled that instead of weeding out pedophiles, the American military was arming them in some cases and placing them as the commanders of villages — and doing little when they began abusing children.

“The reason we were here is because we heard the terrible things the Taliban were doing to people, how they were taking away human rights,” said Dan Quinn, a former Special Forces captain who beat up an American-backed militia commander for keeping a boy chained to his bed as a sex slave. “But we were putting people into power who would do things that were worse than the Taliban did — that was something village elders voiced to me.” (Read more from “Horrific: U.S. Soldiers Told to ‘Ignore’ Afghan Allies’ Abuse of Boys” HERE)

The Real Story of ‘I Stand With Ahmed’

clock-bomb-640x480 (1)The hubbub surrounding Irving, Texas 14-year-old MacArthur High School student Ahmed Mohammed – the kid who brought a homemade clock-in-a-case that looked like a fake bomb to school – continues apace, with the President of the United States inviting him to the White House, and 2016 Democratic frontrunner Hillary Clinton and Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg tweeting out encouragement.

There’s only one problem: the whole story smells. It stinks of leftist exploitation.

Here’s what we know. On Monday, Mohammed brought a homemade clock to school. For those who don’t know the ins-and-outs of electronics, the device looked like a possible incendiary device. Ahmed told the media that he made the clock last weekend and brought it to school to show his engineering teacher. He explained to local news, “It was the first time I brought an invention to school to show a teacher.”

He didn’t explain that to police, however, according to the authorities. And he didn’t just show the device to his engineering teacher. In fact, the engineering teacher told him not to carry the device around after Mohammed showed him, according to The New York Times . . .

Why was the device in English class in the first place, especially after the engineering teacher told him not to show it around? When confronted by police and his English teacher, why didn’t Mohammed just tell them to talk to the engineering teacher? (Read more from “The Real Story of ‘I Stand With Ahmed'” HERE)

U.S. Appeals Court: Contraception Opt-Out Violates Religious Freedom

A man looks over the Affordable Care Act signup page on the HealthCare.gov website in New York in this photo illustrationA U.S. appeals court has ruled that President Barack Obama’s healthcare law violates the rights of religiously affiliated employers by forcing them to help provide contraceptive coverage even though they do not have to pay for it.

Parting ways with all other appeals courts that have considered the issue, the 8th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in St. Louis on Thursday issued a pair of decisions upholding orders by two lower courts barring the government from enforcing the law’s contraceptive provisions against a group of religiously affiliated employers.

The split in the circuit courts created makes it more likely that the U.S. Supreme Court will take up the issue in its coming term, which begins in October and runs through June. Several employers have already filed petitions with the court.

The Affordable Care Act, commonly known as Obamacare, requires employers to provide insurance for their employees, including access to contraception, sterilization and other preventative services for women.

The law allows religiously affiliated non-profit employers to opt out of paying for contraceptive coverage directly. Once they do, insurers must provide the coverage separately at no extra cost to the employee. Employers that do not follow the opt-out process face a financial penalty. South Carolina Father Stunned by Fifth Grader’s Ridiculous Homework Assignment

Fort_BanksES_classroom_resizedA father was troubled by his son’s homework assignment.

“It blowed my mind,” Eric Robinson said of an assignment asking fifth graders to create a wanted poster for a Ku Klux Klan member.

Robinson said the homework was a social studies assignment that his son and others received Wednesday at Clinton Elementary School . . .

Students were asked to sketch the person, provide three reasons why they’re a “bad guy” and a “quote from a person living at the time showing what people might have said about this person,” along with a reward amount . . .

Laurens County School Superintendent David O’Shields said the assignment is a state requirement intended to teach students that the KKK was a criminal/terrorist organization that murdered people, participated in voter suppression and used violence to intimidate African Americans.
